Paul Washer is right on the False cisterns. Today, the reformed circles are idolizing children, nationalism and homeschooling as the end all be all. They fail to realise that nothing is guaranteed. It is only and solely by the grace of God can our children be saved! The Patriarchy movement ought to heed the warnings.

This sermon was used as a growth tool for me, thank you. Towards the end when you said the branch didn't have to go on, although this is true, I believe that is why God prunes the ones that don't bear fruit. A branch does need to exist in order to bear fruit, that is the reason for our existence, to bear fruit. I hope that helped. God bless, and I enjoy the honesty God brings through you!

Oecolampadeus, it seems that you were listening selectively to this sermon. I would recommend hearing this sermon again. If you listen more carefully, you'll see that Brother Paul was not exalting classical Western culture. As a matter of fact, he made it clear that classical Western culture is basically people dressing up in funky costumes acting like savages. But that's not even the main point of the sermon. The focus of this sermon is righteousness, and the benefits of living in righteousness. Now, that is not possible to live out without being born again. I would exhort you to listen again.

“ Want to know how to know God? Listen !!! ”
This sermon is absolutely biblical. Brother Paul is a faithful servant. We are blessed to hear an exposition of John 15. Sometimes you just wonder why you can't bear any fruit and keep on striving for nothing. Well here's why - because we forget that we must ABIDE IN HIM!!! Hope you can listen to this, God bless

“ Great Sermon! ”
Very culturally imperialistic and law-centered. The sermon left me thirsty for the Gospel. This sort of message will certainly alienate the vast majority of unchurched young people with post-modern sensibilities. Rather than glorifying the "righteousness" of classical Western culture, a message to today's youth ought to focus on our universal sinfulness and Christ's self-emptying sacrifice for sinners - including cultured "righteous" Westerners.

“ Great Sermon! ”
Very good; thank you Mr. Washer for yet another wellspring of encouragement. I would recommend to all hearers of this sermon a book by Neil Postman called "Amusing Ourselves to death" that I believe provides a cultural supplement to this wonderful message, often overlooked and largely unnoticed by the church regarding the influence of the mediums(forms of communication) we use on our ability to comprehend content. When our culture and churches in turn trivialize the way information is presented, things as reverent, lovely and serious as righteousness, become at best foreign and at worse inaccessible - even to those who want it. God bless you brother and thanks again, Steve

Wonderful sermon for young people who are confused about Christian living. Paul gives us a key reason for this confusion, a misunderstanding of righteousness.
