“ Useful study. ”
This was a good and useful study. I realise more and more that "New Calvinism" means not the old Calvinism resurrected, but a "new kind" of Calvinism, which is not true Calvinism.

“ THE CATHOLIC CHURCH A CULT ”
THE CATHOLIC CHURCH JUST LIKE THE MORMANS AND JAHOVAH WITNESS ARE A CULT. SATIN DOING SOME OF HIS BEST WORK. SOWING SEEDS OF DECEPTION. ALL OF THESE CHANGE THEIR DOCTRINE AS NEEDED. I DONT THINK MOST CATHOLICS KNOW WHAT THEY BELIEVE TODAY. HOW CAN THEY HEAR LEST THEY HAVE A PREACHER. NOT A PREIST.

“ Not so ”
If you read the bible. It clearly states 3 facts. 1 a post tribulation rapture of the church. Matthew 24-25 chapters are extremely open about the rapture at the second coming. 2 the second coming of Jesus is AFTER those days of tribulation. It's clear! 3 Jesus Christ will reign on earth in Jerusalem with a iron rod and the nations will go up to worship him. Zechariah 14. This is a literal 1000 year reign of Jesus. Satan is bound before the 1000 years start and at the end will be set loose to deceive those who are born into the the reign. They surround Jerusalem, and then are engulfed in fire from heaven. Then there is the great white throne judgment of unbelievers. Then eternality. It's all clear in the bible. Study it brothers and sisters in Christ

“ Important Note! ”
More about New Calvinism by Chris Hand and other speakers will be addressed in the July 2012 School of Theology Conference at Metropolitan Tabernacle (see Sermon Audio ad). This has been addressed also in at least two previous conferences and is available on Metro Tab audio and video CDs for those "School of Theology" conferences. See their website for ordering those CDs on this important subject (from 2010 and 2011 too). Any church or seminary teaching Contemporary Church History should not overlook the subject and controversy of New Calvinism Movement which is far different than the Calvinist teaching and practice of historic Particular Baptists and Presbyterians, and certainly from the Puritans.

“ Mega-Church, Pop Calvinism Exposed! ”
There is a reason the Pop Calvinist churches are as large (and pastors paid hundreds of thousands) as the "health and wealth" or church-growth churches. It's because they, under pretense of orthodoxy (not!), use the same worldly methods of will-worship and cross-marketing strategies to entice "seekers" and unstable youth with "historic Christianity" while Pied Pipering toward Vanity Fair (i.e. Pilgrim's Progress). The result? Subtly, men creeping in unware (infiltration) "turn the grace of God is turned into lasciviousness" (Jude). This is really just a new updated version of the Hippy blue-jeans and bell-bottoms Christianity launched by the rebellious Youth Movements of the 1960s and 70s with a Makeover, to make Christianity "cool"--but entirely devoid of the "fear of God" which is the "beginning of wisdom"! 2 Tim. 3 warns of this in latter times, having a "Form of Religion but denying the power (regeneration, sanctification, holiness of life) thereof". From this and them we are commanded to "turn away" from instead of applaud. To be fair, traditional worship has used the same methods more subtely ever since Psalm singing without instruments was abandoned (Hear G.I. Williamson on Col. 3, Songs Spiritual) .

“ Great Sermon! ”
Oh for this kind of candor amongst Reform Baptist preachers in the U.S.! Few and far between are they that put this movement under a microscope to examine it. Thank you pastor Hand for taking this stand, which could not have been easy as the numbers of those who would choose the old paths are dwindling both in the U.S. and abroad.

“ Helpful Warning ”
There is a lot here that is helpful and the analysis is as needed as it is correct. My concern about the New Calvinism and even the direction we "Reformed Baptists" are going in is that there are few conversions that testify of knowing anything of Bunyan's Slough of Despond. Too many find it very easy to come to Christ as if they knew nothing of total inability. Such books as "The Anxious Inquirer" - J A James, or "A Guide to Christ" by Solomon Stoddard, "Forgiveness of Sin" - John Owen - I am afraid they would question the purpose of their being written. The idea of "Pressing Into the Kingdom" - Jonathan Edwards, or "The Manner in Which Salvation is to Be Sought" are relics of the past that modern Calvinists would dis-relish. There is an error somewhere, and I fear - as Joseph Alleine wrote "The error is in the foundation." (An Alarm to the Unconverted).

“ A Warning about 'Cool' Calvinism! ”
Though this sermon/lecture is somewhat dated it is no less relevant today. Every reformed or Calvinistic church, whether Baptist or Presbyterian, should hear this. So should every seminary for its Contemporary Church History. The growth of a Calvinistic resurgence has been slowly building in America, yet it has not been recovered in purity but with New elements foreign to historical reformed Christianity, i.e. "another Calvinism or Christianity" is being introduced that embraces "cool" worldliness instead of standing against and separating from it. By it the church again is being infiltrated by the world, openly, without shame, "turning the grace of God into lasciviousness", not unlike the Rock n Roll 1960s, but with a different cloak. Today's "Christian hippies" are reformed and quote Calvin and Edwards! Chris Hand will speak on this subject again at the Metropolitan Tabernacle School of Theology in July 2012.

Purgatory & The Mass

“ Biblically refuting purgatory ”
This exposes purgatory and the mass as the denial of Jesus Christ as the all-sufficient savior. Purgatory is where venial sins (less serious sins) are purged prior to admittance to heaven says the catholic church. The mass is an unbloody sacrifice of Christ according to the RCC catechism. So to say Jesus is their savior is not true because He didn't pay for all of their sins, despite the strong word of propititation in 1 John 2:2 stating otherwise. That word is strong, check the greek, it was an actual atonement, made in full. Jesus gets all of the glory. Salvation, heaven, is about the forgiveness of sins and blessed fellowship with God who forgave all of our sins. Email me if you want those verses beginning at 23:15 minute mark. familynsports@hotmail.com
