Great Sermon! I have read Dr. Lawson but never heard his voice sharing Jesus. What a privilege to HEAR his powerful preaching of God's Word right in my home!
Very Encouraging Message! I have been greatly blessed by this encouraging message by Brother Flavel. Isn't it amazing that we can fellowship with brothers who lived hundreds of years ago? We are "a1l made to drink into one Spirit" Cor 12:13, and that Spirit never changes. He (The Holy Spirit of Truth - John 16:13) is the One who shows us that our Lord Jesus Christ is Altogether Lovely!
Excellent devotion It has been 4 years since I have been to church and I miss it dearly. All of the churches in my area are not interested in study but the pastors seem to be more interested in entertaining and attracting the goats rather than feeding the sheep.
A lot said in 4 minutes No matter what I say in the praise of Alexander's work, Thoughts on Religious Experience, or this chapter, my words are insufficient. I first discovered this book in 1984 and have recommended it more times than any title in my library and, doubtless, given it away more times. Any time I have discovered it used, I have purchased it to give one copy away. The summary is that the first generation of the 19th century was marked by my favorite authors. John Angell James, William Sprague, Samuel Miller, Alexander and after 1850 the depth of writings changed. Even the second generation of Princeton Seminary was not marked by the same convictions that were formed in Ashbel Greene, Samuel Miller, and Alexander who all lived during the second great awakening. I have so prized this work that there are at least 3 versions of all or part of this book that I have narrated on SermonAudio. No other authors except Jonathan Edwards and John Owen have helped me as much to understand myself and the Christian life. Soli Deo Gloria.
