According to the report, the bomb was planted approximately two months ago in the guesthouse, which is managed and protected by the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps and is part of a large compound in northern Tehran.
--Iranian leader Ali Khamenei vowed revenge for the assassination of the Hamas political chief. Khamenei said, "The criminal, terrorist Zionist regime martyred our dear guest in our territory and has caused our grief, but it has also prepared the ground for a severe punishment."
--Russia has proposed that the U.N. Security Council adopt a statement to condemn the assassination of the Hamas leader but the proposal was blocked by the U.S., the U.K. and also by France.
