We start off with an article about why young people are leaving the church. As pastor reads parts of it and adds his commentary, you’ll see why. I think you’ll find this appropriate. The churches today are a mess. Okay. Rant over...
When we last saw our intrepid Cliffside audience, we were taking a very interesting look at Grave Cloths. Most churches are like, “Nothing to see here. Move along, move along.” There is profound truth here, and pastor once again sets it up for us. And it’s crucially important for our youth. You’ll understand why when you listen. We’re talking about the Grave Cloths of Jesus and Lazarus, and we’re here because of The Lord’s Prayer and the Pope’s misunderstanding of it. Confused yet? That’s my fault.
We are a church that takes the command of Jesus very seriously: Search the Scriptures, for they testify of Me. And if you’ve heard our previous lectures you know that we’re still not happy with Andy Stanley. Our one-eyed fat man pastor says Andy is a hot mess.
Grave Cloths: the phrase as prescribed to Christ is found only in John 11:44. Let’s read the actual account and see what we can glean. John saw the grave cloths and this is where he believed. What was it that he understood? He believed that Christ resurrected Himself after three days and three nights, but didn’t know the scripture. It’s the sign of Jonah. See Psalms 16:10. The Holy One couldn’t go into any kind of decay or corruption. John’s seen a lot of death and a lot of grave cloths, and these were completely different.
There’s much more to the lecture so, press play.
Thanks for listening. We hope this has helped. Let us know if you have questions.
