About
Who We Are
We are a church located in Fargo, North Dakota.
Community Baptist is seeking to apply the principles of the 16th century reformation to the 21st century church. Believing in the Biblical wedding of doctrine and practice we desire to bring our entire ministry under the authority of God's word. It is our desire to reform both heart and mind, faith and practice to the glory of God.
Teaching the whole counsel of God, our doctrinal standards are the Baptist Confession of 1689 and the Canons of Dort.
Doug VanderMeulen
Douglas VanderMeulen is the preaching pastor at Community Baptist Church. Committed to the principles of the 16th century reformation, Pastor VanderMeulen believes Sola Scriptura and Sola Fide is best understood in light of the Bible's covenantal structure. As a result, the worship services at Community Baptist Church are built upon the priorities of Word and Spirit, Law and Gospel, and Word and Sacrament.
Key influences upon Pastor VanderMeulen's theology are: Luther's Heidelberg Disputation and Disputation Against Scholastics; John Calvin's Institutes of the Christian Religion, Necessity of Reforming the Church, and Reformation Debate; J. Gresham Machen's work Christianity and Liberalism; John Murray's Redemption: Accomplished and Applied; and classic reformed statements of faith such as, Canons of Dort, Heidelberg Catechism, Westminster Shorter Catechism, and Baptist Confession of 1689.
