That's the one we were on last Sunday when we stopped. All right, in John 5, 39, the Bible says, search the scriptures. And that's what I call this this morning because that's what we're going to talk about. Search the scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life, and they or they will testify of me. Now you notice I mentioned this already, but when Jesus said these words, he was talking to a bunch that said they already knew God. Amen? They already professed that they were godly and they knew God, and they thought they were saved. But you find out that they weren't. And that's where it is today. You got a lot of people that's in church, they think because they're in church, they're alright. But that's not true. See? Now, I showed you last week that what the Bible says, if search descriptors, if you want a witness of truth, you've got the search descriptors. If you want a witness of the light, you've got the search descriptors. If you want a witness from God, you've got the search descriptors. If you want to know the voice of God, you've got the search descriptors. If you want to know his word, you've got the search descriptors, you see. Now, notice there, it says in there, he says, search the scriptures, for in them you think. See? He was dealing with what they believed, but their belief was wrong because it wasn't according to the scriptures. See? He said, if you searched the scriptures, you would have found out something that you don't know. And that's true today. If people searched the scriptures, they'd find out some things they don't know. Now, I could park on that one verse probably all morning, but I'm going to say a few more things about it. You see? He said, you think you have eternal life. See? And that was so. They thought they did. Right? And notice, what is the Scriptures? He says in verse 40, and you will not come to me that you might have life. Now, Jesus said the Scriptures testify of me. And it don't say that the scriptures give life, it says the scriptures testify me. And you find out what they say about me, you're going to find out life is in me. See? And I told you it's like this. It's like God saying, I have eternal life. You want it? Say, yeah, I want it. Well, then I'll tell you where to find it. Go to the scripture and you'll find out it's in Jesus Christ. You see, this crowd didn't want Jesus Christ. And that was their trouble. And that's what the trouble of the world is. They don't want Jesus Christ. People want religion. They want systems. They want everything their way, but they don't want Jesus Christ. And you can't have life without Jesus Christ. Amen? I'm going to turn you over here just a minute to Timothy. And I'm going to remind you of something that Paul wrote there to Timothy. I preached on this a number of times and it's in our second Timothy chapter 3 and here's what he said listen to this and second Timothy chapter 3 and Look at verse 14 second Timothy 3 14 He said but continue thou and the things which thou has learned and has been assured of knowing of whom thou has learned them you see and Then he said in verse 15, "...and that from a child," you see, "...that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus." Paul told Kim, he said, "...from a child you've learned that through the scriptures you'll learn that salvation is through faith in Christ Jesus." You see that? And when somebody says that salvation is in something else, it's because they don't know the scriptures. You see? And then when he finishes this saying, and I'm not going to get in this, but he comes back in chapter 4 and he says, preach the word. That's why you ought to preach the word. If you don't preach the word, people will never know that salvation is through faith in Christ Jesus. You see? So that's why religions are formed and say, do this and don't do this and come here and come there and let us do all this because they don't know the scriptures, see? And so Jesus said, search the scriptures. He said, search the scriptures for they or they was testify of me. See? I mean, if you search the scriptures, you're going to find Jesus Christ. And if you find Jesus Christ, you're going to find eternal life. Amen? And that's what people need today, all right? Now, notice, he don't say the Scriptures are eternal life, but they point you to the one that does have eternal life. It's like I had a little too much volume on that thing. All right, now, notice there, in verse 40, Jesus said, You will not come to me. Now, that's why people go to hell. That's the only reason people go to hell. You say people go to hell because they drink and because they steal and they cuss and commit adultery and all that? No, those are just attributes of their purpose. The reason they go to hell is because they didn't come to Jesus Christ and get saved. See? Every person in hell will be there because he refused Jesus Christ. Alright? I mean, if a man, this morning, or religion thinks they can be saved by doing something, or by living a standard, he don't care for the Scriptures. You see? And that's why they reject the Bible. And that's why people need to get saved. Eternal life is in the Son. Amen? And until you find Him, you won't find eternal life. And so people sit back and say, well, I don't believe nobody knows they're saved. I don't believe nobody is eternally saved. You can lose it. You know what the trouble is? They don't know the Son. And they don't know the Son because they've never found Him in the Scriptures. They have found a religion, and they've found something they can live with, but they haven't found what they need, see? Jesus said, you search the Scriptures because you think you have eternal life. See? Then he said in verse 40, what your trouble is, the reason you don't have eternal, you think you have eternal life, but the reason you don't have it is because you won't come to me. See that? Because if you search the scripture, you'll find Jesus, and that's how you come to Jesus. You see that? Somebody said, oh, isn't the Bible confusing? I find it very simple. Amen? Alright, notice there verse 41, Jesus said this, I receive not honor from men. Now notice the same context, he's talking about the subject is continuing here. In other words, Jesus is saying, I don't get no testimony from man. You see? Because men don't know Jesus. And you know the sad thing about them? The churches don't give much testimony of Jesus. They're so involved in everything else. You know? They don't give much testimony of Jesus. I'm telling you folks, I got to be careful. I'm walking thin ice here. I'm going to preach something this morning. I'm going to preach this morning on the world of iniquity. And I'm going to show you some things this morning in the message, but I won't get in that right now because this is getting close to it. But you see, Jesus gets no testimony from man because they don't agree with God. Now these people here, Jesus should have been getting a testimony. They should have believed Him. See? This wasn't the drunks and the dopeheads and the fornicators. This was the church people He's dealing with now, see? And that's the same crowd you've got today. They're still here today. You try to tell them what the Bible says, and you find out what they're thinking, what they'll say about you, what they'll do to you if they can get away with it. Amen? Now, they don't agree with him. They don't believe him, you see? So he gets no testimony, no honor from them. All right, verse 42. Now listen to this. But I know you. How about that? But I know you, and he did. Amen? He did. And he said this about him, I know you that you have not the love of God in you. Now there's something else we get from the scripture. You see up there in verse 38, he says you have not his word abideth in you. See? You see, if a man has the word of God abideth in him, he'll have the love of God abiding in him, and he'll love the things God loves. Right? Now, you know, listen to me, let me bring you up to date on something right here. All this crowd today, you know, is, we love you and you love us, and this fella down on the radio, he said, every day, he said, be sure and tell somebody that you love them. That's his closing remarks every day. And these people, and don't misunderstand, I'm not against that. I mean, I agree, you know, we need the love of God. I agree to that 100%. But all these people talk about the love of God, you know. And God loves you. And can't stand the Word of God. You see? Ain't no such thing, folks. I mean, there ain't no way it just don't work that way. You can't have a love of God and not love the Word of God. If the Word of God is in you, the love of God will be there to back it up. And you can't have one without the other. You see? And you can see that today. I meant... And notice Jesus said the love of God. He says, you don't have it in you to love God. That's what He's saying. See? He said, what you need to love God is not in you. And I know that. See? And... The Word of God will put in you the love of God. You see that? And when you have the love of God, you will love the things that God loves. Amen? And it's not there today. I look at verse 43, John 5, 43. I am come in my Father's name. And He did. His name was Christ, right? And you receive me not. You see that? Now he said, I come in my Father's name, and you receive me not. But listen to this. If another shall come in his own name, him you will receive. That's the Antichrist. When he shows up, they're going to receive him. You know why they're going to receive him? Because they belong to him. Right? I mean, you can see a real clear distinction here of people that have God and people that don't have God, right? I mean, they both make about the same profession. But the practice is not even close. You see? Now, you can see that today in all religions. You go to any religion, any church this morning, Lutheran, Catholic, Methodist, Presbyterian, Church of God, you know, all that button, they all say, oh, yes. Yes, we know God But you watch their practice and you'll find out they don't know what God is let alone know him Huh? this crowd that talks about the love of God and God wants to heal you and Yeah, but the Bible said well, you know You know, don't worry about that crowd. They don't learn about God. They just trying to perform religion. That's all they doing and And that's all this crowd was doing here. They were just performing their religious acts. And Jesus messed them up. You know, like he always did. Alright, now look, verse 45. There's three more verses, and these three verses are real great. Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one that accuses you, even Moses, in whom you trust. Now notice what Jesus said there. Wait, I missed a verse, didn't I? Yeah. Yeah, I missed verse 44. Let me get back up and get it. It's a good verse, too. Verse 44. How can you believe which receive honor one of another, and seek not the honor that cometh from God only? Huh? That's a rough verse, boy. I mean, I tell you, that's a bad one, isn't it? You know what Jesus said? He said, uh, you don't seek God, and he says, you won't find God. You see that? He says, uh, how can you believe? Now you see that? Did you ever talk to somebody and they say, well, that's hard to believe. I wish I really knew for sure I believe right. Did you ever hear, did you ever hear comments like that? I've heard of many of them. And here's the answer to that. When somebody says, I wish I could believe that strong, I wish I could believe it like you. I wish I knew I believed right. I always go to this verse here. Well, how can you believe? There's no way you can believe. You see? What was their trouble? They were trying to find God through men. You see that? A man goes off to college to try to learn the truth. People say, I'm going to study this religion and that religion and see which one's the truth. You'll never find it. You'll never find it. You look from now on, you'll never find it. Jesus said, how can you believe? What's the trouble? They seek honor from men and don't seek it from God. You see that? How can you believe what God said, you see? If you try to go out here and believe something to please a school, or a denomination, or believe something that man wrote over what God said, how can you believe it? When a man picks up this Bible, and he says, I'm going to change what that says, he can't believe this. You see? He's seeking God another way. And folks, let me tell you something, you can't believe God and seek God apart from what God said. And I don't understand this today how in the world people can think that they're going to just go out here and they're going to find the best religion they like and that's the one they're going to be in and that makes them godly. You see. All right, now, verse 45. He said, do not think that I will accuse you to the Father. He said, don't think I'm going to accuse you. See? He said, there's somebody else going to accuse you, and it's Moses. That's the one you trust. In other words, they were trusting the law to save them. They was going to be good enough, they was going to do good enough to be saved. And that's what they were trusting, at least they thought they were, see? But when it comes right down to it, they wasn't really trusting nothing. And I'll show you that in just a minute. Jesus said, the queen of Sheba shall rise in judgment against you. And he said another time, the men of Nineveh shall rise against you. And looks like here he's saying Moses is going to one day rise up against you. You see that? But they didn't believe Moses either. You see that? When somebody says, when I preach this Bible here, makes it a little better. You know what they're saying? They don't believe it either. That's what they're saying, that's the same thing here. Jesus said you believe Moses, but then he went a little bit further and showed them they didn't believe Moses either. See? You know folks, when you find out somebody's trusting a certain thing, somebody says, I've got baptized, I must be saved. You know what? He ain't really trusting that baptism. He's trusting that with a few other things, but it boils down to one real fundamental. He's really just matching his righteousness against God. He thinks he'll make it by himself. You see? And I call that, uh, I got a good word for that. I call that stupidity. Amen Now listen Jesus said in verse 46 For had you believed Moses say they said Moses the one you're trusting, but he said now you don't believe you don't you don't believe him either Say what you believe Moses. You would have believed me for he wrote of me Moses wrote the first five books of the Bible and Jesus they wrote about him now. Let me show you something here. I There ain't nowhere in Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Numbers, or Deuteronomy you can find Jesus Christ, as far as the Word. Well, he said he wrote of me, didn't he? Well, I was filled with it. I was filled with it. I meant you find Jesus Christ in the light of Genesis 1, You find him at the seed in Genesis 3. You find him in Shem. You find him in Isaac. You find him in Joseph. You find him in the Passover lamb. In Exodus, you come over Leviticus. You find him in the tabernacle. You find him in the offerings and the blood sacrifices. And you can't search the Scriptures and not find Jesus. Amen? He said so. And I'll tell you something else, what people do today, they search the scriptures, and when they go to school, they search the scriptures to try to find out what's wrong with the scriptures, and that's why they can't believe nothing. See? They're seeking honor from somewhere apart from what God said. And that's the trouble with our churches and our religions and the Bible because today people are seeking God through the form of a man or something man said over the revealed truth of God's Word. So Jesus said this. He says in verse 46, For had you believed Moses, you would have believed me. See? See? Had you believed Moses, like verse 39, search the Scriptures, if they'd have believed Moses, they would have believed in him, they would have found him, and they would have knew who he was, and they wouldn't have been so against him. Amen? Huh? Well, look at verse 47. Here's another great verse. Verse 47. Let's conclude this chapter. But if you believe not his writings, How shall you believe my words? Huh? In other words, if you don't believe what Moses wrote, you can't believe what Christ said. And that comes up to a problem that somebody has today, not me, but the Nero Orthodox. They say that about three-fourths of the Old Testament is, uh, is, uh, fable, and about the rest of it is fiction. So, in other words, they don't believe nothing God says, if you get right down to it. You see? All right, we're going to start chapter 6 this morning. We won't get too far. We'll get as far as we can. Chapter 6 is a great chapter. It's probably one of the greatest chapters. I don't know why I say one of the greatest. It's all good, but it's a great chapter. Let me just say that. And this chapter shows Two more miracles, really, and we started the book, I told you there were seven miracles in the Gospel of John that Jesus did. And they all had to do with salvation. Now, up to here, this is the fourth miracle, the one we're about to see here, the feeding of 5,000, is the fourth miracle Jesus performed. Now, the first three miracles He performed showed us that salvation comes through the Word. Amen? And let me say something, folks, right here. You know, we're in a bad situation in the churches today. The churches think as long as they can get people to church, anything goes. You know? In other words, if we can have a ball game and get people to church, if we can have a big supper and get people to church, you know, as long as we get what we want, it's okay. I don't believe that for one minute, and I really don't care whether you like it or not, either. The Bible said salvation comes through the word. There ain't no salvation apart from the word of God. Now I don't care what you think or what you say or nothing else. And I'll tell you something else folks. I don't believe you trick nobody into salvation. Huh? I don't believe you get them on the spot where you trick them into getting saved. I believe salvation is just like the Bible says it is. You hear the word of God, and you believe what it says, and God saves you. Amen? And if you don't hear it, you ain't going to believe it, and you ain't going to get saved. Amen? So I said, well, I was in a saying one night, and I got saved. One of the biggest disagreements I ever had with somebody one time, they said, I got saved in a gospel saying. I said, you can get saved in a trash dump. But it ain't because of that trash you get saved. You get saved because you heard and believed the Word of God. Amen? Alright, now... Salvation is through the Word. Now, what goes on here, you'll find in this chapter that there was a storm and Jesus stilled the storm. That's really the 6th, let's see, the 5th miracle. This is the 4th one. The feeding of the 5,000 is the 4th one. And stealing the storm is the 5th one. And that shows that salvation brings peace in your life. Amen? Let me tell you something. When you get saved, the storm of your life, it may be all around you, but it ain't a shaking you up. Huh? All right, and then the sixth miracle is over there where Jesus healed the blind man. Remember that? We'll discuss this in a few more chapters. Jesus healed the blind man, and it shows that salvation brings light. Amen? I mean, you get saved, you don't walk around in darkness. But until you get saved, you don't see nothing clear. And then the last miracle that Jesus performed in the Gospel of John, in John chapter 11, He raised Lazarus from the dead, and that shows that salvation brings life. Amen? Until you get saved, you are a sinner, dead and trespassing sin, like Ephesians 2, verse 1 says. And all these miracles just reveal the fact of salvation. Now, in this one here, in, uh, This verse, notice there in verse 1, it says, after these things, after the things we just discussed, after Jesus had the discussion with this bunch of religious crowd and he told them what was what and everything else, they got real upset too. They didn't forget this. Let me remind you of this, folks. When Jesus met this religious bunch head on and he shut their mouth and told them, they didn't forget it. Huh? And you'll see that a little bit later on. But the Bible says after these things, Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is in the Sea of Tiberias. In other words, the Sea of Tiberias and the Sea of Galilee is the same thing. That thing really has four names. Now, notice there in verse 2, And a great multitude followed him, because they were spiritual and wanted to know the word of God. Huh? What does it say? Boy, he talked about getting up to date. He talked about calling the church roll. A great multitude followed him because they saw the miracles which he did on them that were diseased. And there's how you get the crowd today. There's how you get the great multitudes. You appeal to the flesh. Huh? Now, you know, there's about five or six good sermons in this chapter. I preached some of them. And I preached this one Sunday morning. A little bit later on, when they followed Jesus on, you know, they were getting healed. They were coming to Him and they were having diseases. He was healing them. He was feeding them stuff from their belly and boy, they stayed right with Him. But one day He turned around and said, oh, I want to tell you something. He said, the flesh profit nothing. Huh? The flesh profit nothing. He said, no man can come to God except if he were given of me. He said, you can't come to God unless you know me. Amen? Everybody said, your religion ain't no good. You think you know God, the only way you can get to know God is get to know me. And boy, that crowd started withering out. And next thing you know, there wasn't none of them there. Now you know what, this is true today. As long as you stuff their belly, as long as you promise you can heal their body, boy, they'll come, they'll come, they'll come. But if you start telling them there's no stinking good, there's religious no good, and if you don't get saved through the blood of Jesus Christ, they're gonna all die and go to hell. Boy, the crowd gets thin fast, don't it? Huh? So that's what we got here, in this chapter. All right, notice in verse 2, And a great multitude followed him, because they saw the miracles which he did on them that were diseased. And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples. And the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh. Now, this is the third Passover. Now, I told you when we started the book that the fourth Passover, he was the Passover. So that means his ministry must have lasted about three and a half years. He started when he was 30 years old. All right? And I say, I say Jesus was born probably October, September. Sure wasn't born in December. I'll tell you that right now. Amen? And so long about April, that made six months. That's one Passover. Then he had three years after that, he was the fourth Passover. So his ministry was probably about three and a half years on this earth. All right? Now, notice in verse 5, When Jesus then lift up his eyes, and saw a great company coming to him, he said unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat? And this he said to prove him, for he himself knew what he would do. You see, now Jesus turned to Philip and said, Philip, where can we get bread to feed all these people? And Jesus did this because he already knew what Philip was going to say. See? Now, let me show you something now. You got in that verse, you got election, predestination. See that? You got a bunch of days, say, well, God, for a day, you know, we'd get saved. Heard a man one time say, God saved us for the foundation of this world. We was elected for the foundation of this world. No, you wasn't elected for the foundation of the world. I mean, the church was in Christ before the foundation, but you wasn't elected till you got saved. Amen? Huh? Now, God knew all that. But let me show you something, folks. You know, I don't see why people are so confused about that thing. To me, it's very simple. It's very simple. You decide where you're going. God just knows it for you do. Huh? You trust Jesus Christ, and you go into heaven. You turn Him down, and you go into hell. But God knows it for you do. Where do you get this stuff that God arranged for some to go to heaven and some to go to hell? You can't believe the Bible come out thinking like that. But you know, you'd be surprised at the people. I know a lot of preachers that are smart men. A lot of them are doctors. Most of them are doctors. And that's what they believe. I've heard them. I've got the books and the tapes. I'll let you listen to it and read it. I don't believe that. I believe a man goes to hell because he chooses to reject Jesus Christ. And a man goes to heaven because he decides to accept Jesus Christ. The only way God knows that is before you do. Alright? Alright, notice there. Verse 5 and verse 6. The Bible says he knew what he would do. See? In other words, God knew what Philip was going to do before he said it, but he just did it to prove and test him out, see. You see, God knows what you're going to decide. When a situation comes up, God knows what your decision is going to be on it. He just lets it happen anyway to prove to you what you would do, see. Suppose God sent a man to hell, see. He was elected for hell. The man said, well, I never had a chance, see. But God gives a man a chance. A man stands before God, and God says, you have a chance. You say, when I have a chance, you could have accepted my son Jesus Christ, and you turned him down. See? All right, verse 7, Philip answered him, 200 penny worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little. In other words, that's all they had that he knew anything about. Then it says, one of the disciples, Andrew Simon Peter's brother, said unto him, There is a lad here which hath five barley loaves and two small fishes, but what are they among so many? There must have been a lot of people there. One place said it was 5,000 men besides women and children. Huh? So 5,000 men had a wife that's 10,000. They all had one child. You know there's 15,000. I'd say there's probably a crowd of 25 to 30,000 there. Huh? You know something amazing about that? The Bible says he went up on a mountain and he preached to that many people without a microphone. Isn't that something? Now today they want a microphone in a telephone booth, don't you? I mean, they come a little old church. They come here, you know, a little old place like this. Nobody had no trouble hearing in here. And boy, they got to have a microphone, a PM, blow that thing up, you know? All right, let's go back. Verse 9. There was a little lad there that had five barley loaves and two small fishes, but what are they among so many? All right? Now look in verse 10, And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in that place, so when the men sat down in numbers about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, he distributed it to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were sat down. and likewise one of the fish as much as they would. When they were filled, he said unto the disciples, Gather up the fragments that remaineth, that nothing be lost." Now, notice there, there was five loaves and five thousand. In other words, every loaf of bread fed a thousand people. Like we said, this is the fourth miracle in this Bible. I want to stop on that just a minute if I've got time. I want to preach a little military message right here. Now this is something that would involve, this would be a good message for preachers. But I'm so proud of you too. But notice the first thing about it, it says in verse 5, then Jesus lifted up his eyes. When you see things the way they are, if you're saved, you ain't gonna be satisfied. You see that? The charlatans, they don't even lift up their eyes. They don't see nothing in the light of God's Word. You see? Consider right back when John cut the forest and lift up your eyes. He said, well, the harvest is ready right now. You see? When a man lifts up his eyes, he's gonna see something. And not going to see the church doing good, and the world doing good, and the work of the Bible, not going to see things in good shape. Huh? And look, when he lifts up his eyes and looks, he's going to see. For instance, this morning, if a man lifts up his eyes and looks, and sees the world according to the Bible, he sees the same thing as Jesus. Huh? You don't see the same kind of deal if your eyes are closed. All right, you lift up those eyes and you saw the conditions. Now what was it, now, this is, now let's look at this thing in the spiritual aspect. He lift up his eyes and saw what he saw. He saw all these people. Let's try to paint this one, lift up his eyes. You know what I see? I looked up my eyes, I looked up my eyes and I saw people with a hunger. Starving. Huh? For not being poor. Huh? You see all these people out there, and they're hungry. Starving. Right? And I'll tell you something else, when you look up your eye and you see all these hungry people, I tell you next time you're going to realize that you're not able to feed them. What are we going to do about sit-ups? Ain't got enough, Lord. Ain't no way. This is what we got. I'll feed them. You see? Now, men today think, well, I can feed them. I'm a college graduate. Huh? That's what they think. That's because they ain't looking at things right. You see? The Bible says, Jesus told Peter, it says, feed my sheep. Now if you think you can feed the sheep, there's two things wrong with you. You don't know the sheep and you don't know yourself either. Alright? Now the next thing, I want you to notice that, is in verse 10. And Jesus said, make the men sit down. Huh? You can't get fed until you sit at the table. Huh? Right? I mean, you ain't gonna get fed running around thinking that you know everything and nobody can show you nothing. You got the right version and, you know, you educated. You gotta sit down and listen. Right? Provided there's something there to listen to. You've got to sit down and listen, see? And then, the next thing, before you can feed them, notice in verse 3, it says, And Jesus took the loaves. The next thing that you, before you can feed them, God's got to have His hand on it. Huh? The Bible says Jesus took the loaves, and it says He distributed the bread. Now in Matthew 14, verse 16, it says He break the bread. You see it? He break the bread first. See? Now let me show you something here about the ministry. It don't matter what you have. You listen? You may be a college graduate, you may be a doctor, you may be a Ph.D. It don't matter what you have, if Jesus don't bless it and break it, it won't do nobody no good. You see? Now, that word noticed there, it says that Jesus break it. In Matthew 14, verse 16, Jesus said, I want to read you something over here. Let me read this for a minute. Take me back to Matthew 14. Let me read you something here. This is right up to date. I saw this and this done something to me. Matthew 14. Listen to verse 16. But Jesus said unto them, They need not depart. One of the disciples said, Lord, you'd better send them to town and get them something to eat. There's no way we can feed them. And Jesus said, they need not depart. Listen to this. Listen, verse 16. But Jesus said to them, they need not depart. Sell them something to eat. Brother Cripp, am I right? Isn't that the way the church reads it today? Huh? He said give them, didn't it? You see? It says give. Ain't nowhere where God told us to sell nothing. Huh? Now notice, it has to be broke. Before you can feed the people, you got to be broke. Huh? You remember when we studied the book of Judges over there in Gideon? Those lamps, they didn't give no light until they broke the glass, right? Now folks, you listen to me, I'm gonna show you something right here this morning. When you break something, it's no good. You take a glass and break it, it ain't no good. And if God don't break you, and when God breaks you, you're no good for this world. But until God breaks you, you're no good to God either. Huh? It had to be broke. You see? And when God breaks you, if God takes a man and breaks you as far as this world, you're like a broken glass on the kitchen table. You ain't good for nothing as far as this world's concerned. I'll tell you why so many of our preachers are so prone to fitting this world and enjoy this world. They've never been broke. Huh? The next thing I want you to notice about that is in verse 11, the Bible says, And Jesus took the loaves, and when he had given thanks, his disciples distributed among them. The next thing God uses to feed people in the church age, He uses His own. God ain't use oil rabbits, and Jimmy Saggart, and none of that bunch to feed nobody the Word of God. Let me tell you that right now. Huh? God uses His own to feed the people. And that's God's way. And then nothing else, something else about this thing, one more thing there in verse 12. When they were filled, he said unto the disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost. That means that the Word of God will fill anybody, there's plenty for everybody, and there's plenty left over when everybody gets all they want. Amen? And I'll tell you something else I believe. I believe when you tell somebody about the Word of God and they throw it down, reject it, it ain't wasted. God will pick it up and use it against them on Judgment Day. Huh? You ain't gonna waste the Word of God. It ain't gonna lay out here and be trotted down on the foot of men and hogs and all that. When you put out the Word of God, God's gonna do something with it. And I'll tell you why God ain't doing nothing in a lot of these places. They ain't putting out the Word of God. They're putting out their slop. They're putting out their education. They're putting out their religion. They're putting out their fleshly indulgence. They ain't putting out the Word of God. You stand up this morning, you get a church with 400 people, and you stand up and preach the Word of God, and you talk to that crowd like Jesus talked to this crowd. Folks, you're going to lose a lot of your congregation. I'm going to tell you that right now. Because you won't convince me, I believe this morning, that most of the churches, I'm talking about the so-called Bible-believing churches, I'm not talking about the liberals, I'm not talking about the Methodists, and the Catholics, and the Southern Baptists, I'm not talking about that crowd, I'm talking about the so-called fundamental Bible-believing churches this morning, I believe most of them are filled with unsaved people right now. And you start putting, you start putting the Word of God, or you start fiddling with the Word of God, and I'm going to tell you something. You're going to be just like Jesus. You look around, you're not going to find very many there to listen to what you've got to say. See? Look at verse 13. Therefore they gathered them together and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which remaineth over
