Or Isaiah 40 verse 18, listen
to this. The Bible says to whom will you
liken God? Or what likeness will you compare
unto Him? I want to put this one on that
little word there, compare. The word compare, it means to
set together with respect to likeness or unlikeness. It means
agreement or disagreement. This word is found two times
in the Old Testament and two times in the New Testament. And
the word comparing is found two times in the New Testament. Paul
said, you know, comparing spiritual with spiritual. Now, by way of
introduction, let me say this. All the time on the radio and
television, somebody's always telling you to compare one thing
with another. This brand here is better, it
lasts longer, it looks better, it endures more, and lots of
everybody have tried these products because they've told you to try
them to see what they do. I've tried several things, compared
them with other things. Sometime while back here there's
somebody trying to sell a car. And, uh, this car, they was comparing
it with Toyota. Telling how much greater, and
how much endurance, and how long it would outlast the Toyota.
You know, it was a comparison. Okay? Now, what I'm trying to
show you this morning is very few people have ever compared
anything spiritual. Now, there's three things that
I wanted to show you this morning to compare. And what I'm trying
to do is I'm trying to maybe get somebody's attention and
get you to compare some things that you need to see the difference
in. All right? And number one, I think the first
thing you ought to compare is the book with all the books. When I mean the book, I mean
the Bible. Okay? All the billions of books that's
ever been written There is none like the book. Now look at the
text I read in Isaiah 40, 18. It says, To whom then were you
like in God? Or what likeness would you compare
to him? That was, he's saying what would
you compare with God? What would you pick to compare
with God? Well, there's nothing you could
compete to compare with God. There's nothing nobody you could
compete to compare with God. So if that be true, then you
can't compare anything that God ever said with anything anybody
else ever said. And that's what I'm trying to
show you. You can't compare no book with
the book that God wrote. Amen? Or you can't compare anybody
or anything anybody ever said or did with God. That's what
the text is talking about. If you read the next verse, you
read a little bit further on down there, verse 21, the Bible
says, Have ye not known? Have ye not heard? Had it not
been told you from the beginning, had you not understood from the
foundation of the world, from Genesis, you see? Now, there's
always somebody trying to imitate God. I mean, the devil's got
a lot of crowd trying to imitate God. The devil's got a lot of
books trying to imitate the book of God. But if you compare You'll
realize that there's only one book of God, and that is the
Word of God. What book has ever affected the
world like the Word of God? I mean, this book will give you
a new birth. The Bible says in 1 Peter 1,
23, being born again. not of corruption, but of incorruption,
by the word of God, which liveth and abides forever." This book,
the Bible, will put you in fellowship with God. Amen? Won't no other
book put you in fellowship with God. This book will tell you
the way to God. This book will tell you where
life comes from. You know, all this stuff today,
the world believes in science. You know, they think science
is the greatest god of this universe, you know? Let me tell you, anything
that science ever found out is right, they just caught up with
the Bible. They just line up with the Bible.
They talk about, you know, back to the Bible. That's a crazy
term, back to the Bible. Listen folks, it ain't back to
the Bible. What it should be, let's try
to get forward and catch up with the Bible. Just like the Bible
back here, we've got way ahead of us, not able to get back to
the Bible. No, you don't need to get back to the Bible, you
need to catch up with the Bible. Amen? I mean, the Bible is way
ahead of anything anybody knows today, or anything anybody has
ever done. Amen? Now, let me give you an
illustration. Science is trying to produce
life in a test tube. Have you heard about that? You
know, they're trying to produce life now in a laboratory and
test tube. But let me tell you something.
If they did, they'd still be 6,000 years behind the Bible.
You know God's got five ways he brought life? Huh? Now you tell somebody that. Let
me tell you something. Back in Genesis, in Genesis 2-7,
God brought life from a mud pile. And the Lord God formed man from
the dust of the ground, bringing to his nostrils the breath of
life, and man became a living soul. Unless you got an NIV,
that Catholic devil Bible, and it says man became a living being. Now let me ask you something,
folks. Do you know there isn't a living soul and a living being?
Huh? You know what that is? That's
an attack on the creative image of man in God. The Bible said
that God created man in his own image. Amen? Man is a trinity. Body, soul, and spirit. At least
he was in the origin of creation. God is a trinity. It don't say
a being. You see what I'm trying to show
you? I'm trying to compare the book
that God said with anything anybody else ever said. Okay? Let me tell you something. They
say the new international version, we call it NIV. You know the
only thing new people need? They need a new birth. Amen? It says man became a living being. You see? And I'll tell you something
else it does. In Genesis 3 verse 4, when that
Devil told Eve, he said, God knows the day you take that fruit,
you'll be as gods. G-O-D-S. Those gods he was referring
to was those angels that was here on this earth. And the devil
said, the N-I-V says, you shall be as gods. See? Now, folk, you tell me something.
How in the world can anybody with good sense believe that
something like the NIV or some of these other apostate Catholic
corruptions could compare with what God said? Let me tell you
something. You know the only defense you
have against the devil? Now, listen to me. You listen
to me real close. I'm gonna say something here
a lot of folks ain't gonna like. In Matthew chapter 4, when the devil
came to Jesus, Jesus said, as it is written, as it is written,
as it is written, and the end of the verse, you know what it
says? It said the devil left, he fled. You know a lot of folks,
while the devil gets the victory in your life, while the devil
overpowers you and takes control of your life, you don't know
enough of the Bible to take care of him. Amen? The only defense you have
against the devil is the Word of God. You can't compare nothing with
this book. Nothing. Amen? Now, I was telling you
how God gives life. Another way God gives life is
He took a man and made a woman. He made man in the dirt. He took
a man and made a woman. Then He took the man and the
woman and made life through them. That's three ways. And then,
later on, He took a woman and made a man. Without a man. The virgin birth of Jesus Christ.
That's four ways. Then there's another way God
gives life. See? God gives eternal life to any
sinner that'll trust Jesus Christ as their Savior. In John 1.12,
the Bible says, But to them that received him, to them gave he
power to become the sons of God, which were born not of blood,
nor the will of man, but of God." So there's five ways God gives
life, and science is trying to develop life in a test tube.
There's 6,000 years behind the Bible right now. Amen? No book on science, no book on
philosophy, nothing anybody has ever said will compare with the
book of God. Amen? It's the only eternal book. Look here. Let me read you a
verse. Back up there in verse 8. Isaiah
40, verse 8. The Bible said, The grass withereth,
the flowers fadeth, but the word of our God shall stand forever. Jesus said in Matthew 24, verse
35, He said, Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my word
shall not pass away. The Word of God, the Book of
God is the only eternal book. The Book of God is the only truth. The Book of God is the only righteous
book. It's the only book you can go
by and be righteous and know that it's right. Amen. It's the only honest book. You'll
never find this book will mislead you or misguide you or lie to
you. It's the only perfect book. It
has to be perfect because it came from a perfect God. Mm-hmm. And I'll tell you something else
about this book. Listen to me. This book is the only book that
most people hate. Huh? It's the only book that'll
save you and keep you out of hell. Now what I'm trying to
show you by way of comparison, I want you to compare the book
of God with any other book. Any other book. And there is no comparison. There's
no comparison. You can put them side by side.
Like I said, you can take all the billions of books this world
possesses that have been written and put them aside this book
and you couldn't compare them. God said, to whom then will you
liken God or what likeness will you compare unto Him? You can't
compare nothing with God and you can't compare nothing with
God's book. Now something else I want to
get your attention about comparing. I want you to compare religion
salvation. Now let me give you what religion
is. I looked up religion and there's several men have several
different dictionaries but I summed it all down to this. Religion
is a system of faith and worship that's performed by doing something. Now first of all I want to say
a few things about religion. Number one is everybody has a
religion. Now a day you talk about religion,
most folks they think, well you go to church. Church don't necessarily
mean a religion. Communist is a religion. This karate mess is a religion. The Shriners is a religion. And by the way, no Christian
belongs to the Shriners. You may be religious and belong
to the masons and the shriners, but no Christian belongs to the
masons or the shriners. Okay? Now, everybody is religious,
but everybody don't have salvation. You see, I want you to compare. Amen? Now, let me give you a
few comparisons. Number one, religion is an outward
act. All religion is performed by
something from the outside. Salvation is an inward creation
that God performs that no religion can do. Amen? Salvation will take you to heaven.
Religion will send you to hell. The purpose of religion is to
turn you away from God. Salvation will turn you to God. Amen? This world this morning
is deceived by the system of religion because religion is
a worldly system. Amen? Salvation will turn you
away from the world. Amen? Anybody's religion without
salvation, listen to me, anybody's religion without salvation, they're
a hypocrite. You hear what I said? Now you
say, I wouldn't say that. Well, let me show you something.
Take your Bible and turn to Matthew 23 just for a minute. Matthew
chapter 23. You know what a hypocrite is?
Huh? Let me tell you. A hypocrite
is a pretender. You ever go to the movies? You
know what you're seeing? You're seeing a bunch of hypocrites.
See? You know, the fastest gun alive,
that's a hypocrite. He's the fastest gun alive. He's
just acting like he is. The greatest man in town can
whoop anybody. That's a lie. Pardon anybody.
He's a hypocrite. He's pretending something he's
not. That's why I like football. They ain't pretending. Boy, they
ain't pretending. They mean business. They ain't
pretending. It's got to be like I can't stand
to watch a movie because I say I'm looking at a bunch of hypocrites.
I got to, I can't enjoy a good movie because I'm saying I'm
watching a bunch of hypocrites that ain't what they profess
to be. That's bad, you know, in one
way. See? Now, look at Matthew 23. In Matthew 23, seven times, Jesus
called this bunch of religious folks hypocrites. I'll show you. In Matthew 23, verse 13, He said,
But what unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites? Look at
verse 15. You Pharisees, hypocrites. Amen? Then you read over here in verse
23. Warren, to you scribes are Pharisees hypocrites. Verse 25.
Warren, to you scribes are Pharisees hypocrites. Verse 27. Warren,
to you scribes are Pharisees hypocrites. Verse 29. Warren,
to you scribes are Pharisees hypocrites. See? Jesus called
them hypocrites, and a hypocrite is a pretender. They're pretending
to be something they're not. You see? Now look here. You just read some things they
pretend. Look at verse 14. See, they're
not saved. That's religion. See? Religion
don't get you saved. This crowd was against Jesus. They weren't
for him. And I'll tell you something else
about religion. Religions have false doctrines. There's three
here. There's three false doctrines
in this crowd here. I'll show them to you. Look at
Matthew 23. Look at verse 9. Verse 9. And call no man your father upon
the earth, for one is your father which is in heaven. The first
false doctrine. Don't call nobody your father.
Amen? You know, they have a move and
they say, uh, Father Brown. That makes me want to puke. You
know, some guy get him acting like he's father. They had one
down here in town that's Catholic. Everybody called him Father Bill. Father Bill. Pig puke. He ain't my father. I wouldn't
call him father. I call him holy roly, call him
a hypocrite, call him a pope, call him anything, but don't
call him father, amen? The second false doctrine is this, long
prayer for your money, verse 14, and by the way, Matthew 23,
14 is took out of most of these Bibles, you know why? Because
they're Catholic Bibles, and the Catholic can't stand it,
because that's one of the doctrines of their church. And then look at the next one
in verse 15, Matthew 23 verse 15. See? Religion is to proselyte
people to go to hell. Salvation is to win people to
Jesus Christ so they can go to heaven. Amen? Let me tell you something,
folks. Listen to me. Religion is the most worst, uh, uh, destructible,
damnable, ungodly system this world has. You see? And all religions
are lies. All religions lie. Now, let's compare religion.
What is salvation? What is salvation? First of all,
I want to say this. God wants to save everybody.
Amen? So God calls all men to come
to Calvary and accept Jesus Christ His Son and be saved. And let
me tell you something, if you come to Calvary and trust Jesus
Christ as your Savior, you're going to have to deny your religion.
Amen? Paul said after he was saved,
he said his religion was nothing but dung. Amen? Now, what is salvation? Salvation
is a new creature in Christ Jesus. In 2 Corinthians 5, 17, the Bible
says, Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he's a new creature. Amen? He's a new creature. I
mean, do you know this morning when God made you a new creature?
Your religion didn't make you a new creature in Christ. And
let me tell you something else. Salvation It is a work of the
Holy Ghost. It's not a work of a religion. Now listen to me. Have you ever compared religion
with salvation? Amen? Let me tell you something. Salvation
is far superior to any religion. I'm going to say one more thing
about this. Religion will do nothing about
your sin. Salvation will justify you from
your sin. Have you ever compared religion
and salvation? A lot of folks need to compare
that. Amen? And then the next thing I want
to show you to compare this morning is compare a church member with
a Christian. Amen? Now, A lot of church members,
I say a lot, some, not the majority, but some church people, church
members, they're saved. I didn't say compare a church
member with a saver, I said compare a church member with a Christian.
See? You can be saved and not be a
Christian. See? You can be saved by trusting
Jesus Christ as your Savior, but you have to... Let me explain
it this way. Salvation is when God gives you
life, because you're dead and trespassing, and God imparts
to you life. Being a Christian is when you
give that life back to God. Amen? Now, you become a church
member, by submitting to the church. Amen? And let me tell
you something, folks. You can't be a Bible rebel and
be a Christian. Apart from the Bible, there are
no Christians. Amen? You got saved when God
gave you life. You become a Christian when you
learn how to live that life in the light of God's Bible. No Christian, no Christian has
any Bible but a King James Bible. You may be a church member, you
may be a good church member, you may be likable, you may be
a fine man or woman. I wouldn't deny that would you
at all, but if you throw away your King James Bible, let me
tell you something, you are not a Christian. You may be a church
member, but you're not a Christian. There's a difference. Amen? Now
as a church member, you can be dedicated to your church. I told
you last week here, most folks, they measure a Christian by the
time he spends in his church, in his local building. Amen. Well, you know that he's always
at church. You know, he's at church Sunday morning and Sunday
night and Wednesday night and visitation and he cuts the grass
and he does the janitor work. He is a fine Christian. You can
do all that and not even be close to a Christian. I'm trying to show you a comparison. See? You know, Jesus spoke a
lot of time of comparing. He said, you see, that was like
this. Jesus said that a lost woman's like a pig. He said a
lost man's like a dog. Now, if you want to compare what
a lost woman's like, watch a hog. You got a comparison. See? Now
see, people will compare everything they're told, but it comes to
the Bible and spiritual things, they won't compare nothing. Let me give you a little history.
Some years ago, long, a lot of years ago, I got saved in a Southern
Baptist Church. And, uh, I was a good member. I was a good Southern
Baptist Church member. I was. A real, a real good one.
I mean, I shined out more than a lot of them. But I've done
some comparison with the Independent Baptists and compared what they
knew that I didn't know and what they had that I didn't have.
Let me tell you something, I changed sides. See? Now this morning, if people would
sit down and compare the book with other books and compare
religion with salvation and compare just being a church member with
a babbling Christian, I'm sure a lot of folks, if they're real,
would make some adjustments. Most folks won't stop and come
back, they won't do it. They won't do it. I was asked some years ago, I
was pretty young at one time, and right when the boys started
growing mop heads, I was asked more than one time, why don't
you let your hair grow out? One time, one boy, we seemed
to get along pretty good. He was a likable boy. He asked
me, I said, you know, Jerry, there's only one thing. You need
to let your hair grow out. I said, not on your life. He
said, why? I said, I don't believe in that
mophead stuff. I said, I'm going to say he bleeds
the Bible. It's against the Bible. Oh, well, I didn't know that.
I said, yeah. See? Now, listen. You may be dedicated to your
church, but a Christian is dedicated to God, to serve God, and to
stand for God. You can't stand for God, and
you can't serve God while you reject the Bible. You know what
I'm saying? And I'll tell you something else.
When God saves you, God wants you to be a Christian. You know
what God wants you to do? God wants you to have fellowship
with Jesus Christ. You know that? Let me show it
to you. It's in the Bible. 1 Corinthians. Read over that to me. 1 Corinthians. Chapter 1. I think I'll quote
the verse, but I'm going to turn to it because I might not. But
it's in 1 Corinthians 1, verse 9. Uh, what did I say in verse
8? 1 Corinthians 1, verse 8. Listen
to this. Now listen. 1 Corinthians 1 verse 8, "...who
shall also confirm you unto the end, that you may be blameless
in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ. God is faithful by whom
you are called into the fellowship of His Son, Jesus Christ our
Lord." See? Which means that if you're in
fellowship with Jesus Christ, and I'm going to say, if you're
not in fellowship with Jesus Christ, You may be a good church member,
but you're not a Christian. Amen? The word Christian comes
from Christ. And the word Christian, the first
time it's found in the New Testament is in Acts 11, 26. And it was
called, they were called Christians first in Antioch because two
years, Paul and Barnabas stayed down there and taught them the
Word of God. And because of their belief and
their response to the Word of God, people said, you acting
like little Christies. That's what they said. That's
where the word come from. They were acting like Christ.
You know? They weren't like other people.
Christians don't fit in the world. Amen? Now let me say this. As I said, if you're in fellowship
with Jesus Christ, Amen? You stand against sin. You know
what sin is, and you don't agree with it, and you don't accept
it, and you don't enjoy it, and you don't tolerate it. Be careful
these people that go to church can get along anywhere, under
any conditions, with anybody. Amen? I mean, if you instead,
with that kind of a crowd, I said, you may be an outstanding church
member, but you no Christians. See? Now, we come to a place
where a lot of church members, and I say a lot, probably most
of them, they call themselves Christians, and don't know what
a Christian is. You just go to probably any church
in this town this morning, and ask anybody sitting on the pews,
what is a Christian, they couldn't tell you. And yet, they call
themselves one. And some of you call yourself
some kind of professional name, and I say, what is that? Before
you told me you was a lawyer, I said, what is a lawyer? You
said, well, I don't know, but I'm one. That's what they do. They say, I'm a Christian, but
I don't know what one is, but I'm one. Huh? Now listen, folks, you can be
a good church member, and a lot of folks are. You might live
clean, moral, be likable, enjoyable, but if you fit in this world
and you agree with the world, and you've got comfort in this
world, you're not a Christian. No Christian in the light of
the Bible, in fellowship with Jesus Christ, will fit in or
accept this world. I mean this world system. Now
I know we're in the world, we have a certain place we have
to be and eat, and I know all that, but I'm talking about your
practical lifestyle. If you fit in the world and you
just can go along with anybody on anything, you may be a church
member, And you may be a good one, but you're not a Christian.
Amen? Now, I'm going to tell you the
first step in becoming a Christian. The first step. The first thing
you've got to believe, and know, and be sure of, and be confident,
and stand on it. The first thing to become a Christian
is this. You've got to know and believe
this world is not my home. This ain't my home. Now, when you're away from home,
you act different, don't you? We just come back off two weeks
vacation. We visited several folks up in Tennessee and North
Florida and up in that area. And we went to a lot of folks'
house, but we didn't get comfortable nowhere. We never went to nobody's
house and got really comfortable, because we weren't home. See? Now you realize that this world
is not your home. You ain't gonna get too comfortable
here. Amen? A lot of church folks have got
comfortable, but not a Christian. I'm trying to show you a comparison
here this morning. Amen? If you're a Christian in
this world, you're a misfit. You're out of place. Amen? They don't like you. I
guarantee you a Christian in this world don't care much for
you. You're in their way. Listen. Listen, folks. You can't set your affections
on things above and not on things of the earth and get comfortable
in this world. Amen? And Colossians 3.1, you
know what it says? It says, set your affections
on things above and not on things of the earth. You know why you
ought to set your affections on things above? That's where
you're going. That's where everything you got
is. That's where you're going. That's what you're looking for.
That's what you're waiting for. That's what you're hoping for.
Amen? A lot of church members can fit
in this world, get along in this world, enjoy the things of the
world. But a Christian has better things in mind. A lot of times
I compare what the Bible says about heaven and what I see in
this world. I find no comparison. I see where
one man went to heaven one time, Paul the Apostle went there.
When he come back, you know what he said? He said, I want to go
back. He's seen the difference. You know, a lot of folks don't
see the difference in nothing anymore. They think, well, you know, we're
all good folks and God loves us all. We just have different
religions, we're different church, you know. We're all the same.
Let me tell you something, folks. We ain't the same. There's no comparison
in a church member and a real Christian. There's no comparison.
Amen. When trouble comes, you know
what a Christian does? A Christian prays and trusts
God. You know what a church member does? He turns to the world to
try to find the answer. Amen? Let me tell you something,
folks. Being a Christian is learning
to trust God. Let God have it. Remember there, I think it's
Peter said when Christ was that persecuted Christ the Bible said
he committed himself to God now if things get rough in your life
and you can't see no way out don't try to figure it out and
don't try to work it out just say God I belong to you and you'll
have to take care of it and trust God that's what a Christian does
and if you ever do that you realize the only hope you got Because
there's problems in this world, there's things in this world
that happen and are going to happen that you can't figure
out and work out and you can't get out of without God. That's
why I said to him, I don't see how people live without God.
I don't see how people face the trouble of this world and the
problems of this world without God and not blow their brains
out. No wonder these teenagers are killing themselves. I was up in Jacksonville just
the other day, and a man I used to go to church with some years
ago, probably 25 or 30 years ago, he was a likable fellow,
real likable, and just the other day I heard he blew his brains
out. He blew his brains out. Another fellow I used to go to
church with, he was a deacon. He used to fight us everything
we tried to do. He's a drunk now, he's an alcoholic. See? But he was a good church member,
I remember that. See what I'm trying to show you? Listen folks,
the only hope that you've got for anything if you're a Bible-believing
Christian is turn to God. Just trust God with everything.
I mean with your life, your home, your wife, your husband, your
children, everything. I mean did you ever compare a
church member, and there's millions of them, there's millions of
them, they're all over. with a real Christian that lives
day-to-day just believing God, trusting God, waiting on God,
looking for God, and longing for God. There ain't no comparison. There ain't no comparison. Amen?
Now let me tell you something. Church members, and I'm talking
about just people that go to attend church, have destroyed
the reality of a Bible-believing Christian. And most folks today
You know, they think, well, you know, you go to church, so you
must be a Christian. And they go to church, so they
must be a Christian. One of the things that agitates
me a lot in this town here is, or I say it shouldn't, but it
does, and they'll say, well, here's two preachers. Now, I
don't classify myself in the class of no preacher in this
town. I don't say I'm better. I'm not saying that at all. I'm
just saying this. I'm not on their level. I didn't say I was better. Don't
you misunderstand me. I didn't say I was better. I'm
not in their class. I believe the Bible, and I try
to walk with God. And a lot of folks may not like
me, but I'm not in their class. Most of the people in this town
can fit in this world. They fit in all the activity
going on here. I don't. I'm not a part of none
of it. I don't fit in. If I do more than speak, most
of the time I get somebody upset. I do. The judge, he's a good
friend of mine, but a lot of the time I get him upset. If
we ever get in discussion of the Bible, he's going to get
upset with me. I'm going to get upset with him
because me and him don't sit in the same ranks. No church
member will ever see the Bible in the light of a Christian. Amen? I want you to think about comparing
three things. Number one, compare the book.
I'm talking about the book. When I say God's book, I mean
the authorized version of 1611 King James Bible. Compare that
with any of the other Bibles. Compare with any book anybody's
ever wrote. Compare with any scholar. Compare with anything
else, and there is no comparison. Compare religion. Somebody that's
just religious. That's dedicated to their religion.
Compare with somebody that has salvation. Somebody that's saved.
Let me tell you something, folks, that's why I believe most church
members are not saved. If they were saved, they'd get
out of that religion. Everybody I ever knew or heard
of, when they got saved, dumped the old religion. I mean, before I got saved, I went
to church. Before I got saved, I was religious. Amen? The greatest
Christian ever lived. Before he got saved, was one
of the most religious men in the Bible. But when he got saved,
he said, my religion, I can't help but do to know Christ. And compare a church member. Somebody has come down and joined
the church, signed the card, got baptized, took the right
hand of fellowship and is a full-pledged, tithed and voting member compared
with a Bible-believing Christian that walks in the light of God's
Bible in fellowship with Jesus Christ on a daily basis compared.
There's no comparison. There's no comparison. God says who? To whom will you
liken God? Well, if you can't liking God
to nothing or nobody. If you can't say this is like
God, or that's like God, or this person's like God, if you can't
do that, then you can't compare what God said, or the work of
God in anybody's life, and a Christian not a thing in the world, but
God working in somebody's life. That's all it is. Listen folks,
I look at you and you look at me and we're no different. We're
a flesh, that the worms gonna have Sunday
dinner off of one day. There sure ain't nothing great
about us, that's for sure. But it is if God takes us and
uses us and does something with us. And God can't do that until
you accept His Bible and walk in the light of His Bible. You
can be a churchman but not do that. But the Bible says, to
whom will you liken God? Is there anything that you'd
put beside God and compare and say, this is like God? I don't
think so. And the Bible says, or what likeness
will you compare to Him? Is there anything that you can
take and put it beside and say, this is like God? Is there any
book that some man wrote, some scholar wrote, put it beside
what God said and say, this is like God's book? I don't think
so. I know so. I got in a debate
just the other week with a man who tried to tell me he liked
the NIV. the man's deceived. I'll preach you a message the
other way about people being deceived about the Bible. A lot
of folks are deceived this morning. And they're deceived a lot of
times because they won't do a little simple comparison of something
I tried to show you this morning. I mean, if some new item comes
out, everybody wants to try it out. Compare it with this, compare
it with that. But when it comes to spiritual
things, nobody wants to compare the book of God with any book. Or religion with salvation. or
a church member with a Bible-believing Christian. And in a sense, there's
no comparison. There's no comparison between
the two. I see the light of that city
so bright My home, sweet home. We're nearing joy. We're nearing the shore, trouble
soon will be over, we'll suffer no more. That we're nearing the shore
No more to cry Up in the sky No more heartaches No more goodbyes
Joy everlasting For you and for me To be nearing the shore We'll
see the lighthouse, Jesus divine Who will say welcome, dear children
of mine Come in and rest, this land will pay Yes, it's joy to know that we're
nearing the shore. Yes, we're nearing the shore. We're nearing the shore. We are nearing the shore. We're nearing the shore. Yes, we're nearing the shore. Trouble soon will be over. We
will suffer no more. That we're nearing the shore T'was alone in the garden, garden,
Jesus went to pray Talking with the dear Father, Father, meek
and lowly that day Let thy will be done, Father, Father, this
they heard Him say Alone, out in the garden Jesus went to pray alone. And for our sins He did atone. He prayed. He prayed, O Father, Thy will
be done. Terry, he would watch with me,
were the words he said. Though I'm burdened with sorrow,
so he bowed his head, in with Peter and others, in his agony,
he prayed, Father, O let me. Come now, pass from me alone. And for our sins He did atone. He prayed, He prayed, O Father,
I will be done. Soon they crucified Jesus on
the rugged cross Claiming all he had done was yet one absolutely
unlawful But an angel from heaven came down from the lofty throne He has paid the cost alone. And for our sins He did atone. He prayed, O God, will He turn
Thy will?
