2 Chronicles chapter five and Exodus chapter 40. We're gonna turn to those two places and some more in just a little bit. But I'll let you go ahead this morning to Mark 2 Chronicles chapter five and Exodus chapter 40. And as you're turning to those two places, I want you to think about God's presence, God's presence. Sometimes in our life we have to come to an understanding that we have to empty out or we have to let go of things in order for it to be filled. Many times we may gather together in a house and if somebody is special or important or somebody we love comes in and all the seats are filled, you know what we'll say? Get on up from there, make room, let them sit down. It's not wrong for us to make room for somebody to come in and occupy a place in our life. I don't mean to be too straightforward, but I'm gonna be really straightforward with you, folks. It's okay if you have to let go of things in your life to make room for Christ. It's okay. Matter of fact, I'll even go as far as to say this, folks. You can let go of everything. The one person you need in your life is Jesus. That's the one. So when we talk about God's presence, we're gonna read this morning in the Old Testament about a place that no matter how beautiful, no matter how gorgeous something may be, that without the presence of God, it's empty and it's nothing. There are people today that can wear fine clothes, they can fix themselves up, they can live in fancy houses, they can drive nice cars. But folks, all these things are external or exterior things, but what's important is to whom do you have on the inside and whom have you made room for? In the book of Exodus chapter 40, I wanna skip down to the 34th verse. Then a cloud covered the tent of the congregation and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. It's a place where God dwells, but yet there's a time that God not only wants to occupy, but he wants to fill that place. Can I tell you something about your soul this morning? God does not just want to be a part of your life or a part of your soul. He wants to fill your life with his presence. Do you think that merely that God wants a relationship with you on Sunday morning for a bookend hour from about 10 o'clock to about 12 o'clock? Or do you think that God wants all the days of your life? Folks, God wants to feel not just a portion, God wants to have his presence in our life everywhere. And the glory of the Lord is said, feel the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation. because the cloud abode their own and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. Aren't you glad today to know this, is that when God builds a place, and here what we're gonna talk about is that God in the tabernacle, and we're also gonna see it in the temple that when God creates something that there was not even room for a man by the name of Moses and the power and the prestige of Moses because God filled that place. I pray this morning, and my prayer has been the last several days, that God would fill our lives with His presence, that we don't need anything else to fill that. Folks, if you feel empty today, it's not because God does not want to fill your life, for He does. Maybe you're here this morning and something is missing. Maybe you've got a portion or a part or even a majority of your life that there's satisfaction or there's peace and there's contentment. What I want you to understand this morning is when we really drill down and we look at the word field, it means to encompass all of that. You know, this morning, I want you to see that there was a desire that God would fill the tabernacle. And Moses was not able to enter into the tent of the congregation because a cloud abode their own, and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle. Folks, if God creates a space, He desires to come and to fill that space. Let's turn, if you will, to the book of 2 Chronicles. If you mark that for just a moment. 2 Chronicles chapter 5 and I want to skip down to the 13th verse. Tabernacle and now into the temple. Read with me if you will in verse 13. 2 Chronicles chapter 5 and verse 13. And it came to pass as the trumpeters and singers were as one. A very important moment here that we're going to see is that God is going to feel His presence in the temple. That the trumpeters and the singers were as one to make one sound to be heard. in praising and thanking the Lord. And when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of music and praise the Lord saying, listen to what they were all in harmony saying, by the way, can I give you a sneak peek this morning? I pray that we all can come together and say these very words for he is God. This morning, you're looking at one person today that is going to say, He is good. Folks, I'm going to say this, and will you agree when I say this? Folks, God is good. Would you agree? God is good. Can I tell you something else? I don't mean to reveal something unto you, but there's a lot of people in the world that do not know about the goodness of God. But there is goodness in our life, and it's almost like we want to take His goodness and hide it in our pockets because we don't want to share it, folks. The goodness of God can fill everybody's life just like He has yours. If you tell me this morning and you're convinced that God is good to you and he has filled your life, I pray that you would share that goodness with others. Listen to what happened. The trumpeters and the singers, he said, they began to say, for he is good. They experienced something, they said, for his mercy endureth forever, that even them, when the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the Lord. No matter how glorious this temple was going to be, no matter what kind of materials you would have put on the temple, no matter what the tyrannical that we read about in Exodus would have been made out of, folks, these things would be empty and vain if they did not have the presence of God in them. Churches today, they can be built by the millions and millions of dollars. I don't know, however many million it may be. But I want you to know this today, that it doesn't matter about what kind of building it is, it's about the one that occupies the building. Aren't you glad today when we come to church this morning that it's not about you or you or me or them or whatever? It's all about Jesus Christ. That's what I love about coming to here and to any New Testament church. Folks, it's not about us or anybody else. It's all about Jesus. We all today can say that God is good. For he said, the trumpeters and the singers were as one. One. You know, and we're gonna talk about some of this in just a minute, about harmony and unity and in being in hand in hand and in stride one with another. But you know, I believe that it's important that we see that we're not only hand in hand in harmony one with another, but folks, it is imperative that we are in harmony with God and the Holy Spirit of God. Would you agree with that? What happens when we're not in harmony with God? For the trumpeters and the singers were as one. He said before his presence could ever come into a place, there had to be unity. Let me just pause right here for a minute. Whether you know this or not, if you're saved, you do know this. If you're here and you've never been saved, I want to tell you something. You were born with a nature that will rebel against God. It's not because you're a bad person or you made bad choices along the life. You were conceived in sin and by your very nature, your nature is to run and rebel against God. In other words, you're not in harmony with God. You're actually the opposite of that. It's not unity, it's actually called division. And you'll notice that in the temple, that the only way that God's presence was ever going to fill a place is there had to be togetherness. Before any individual is ever going to be saved by the grace of God, they must come to a place that they realize that they cannot run from God and the Holy Spirit of God, but they must come into unity with the Spirit of God, that we are sinners in need of a Savior. How many of you did that happen to in your life? There was a time in your life, maybe you was little, maybe you got older, but there was a time in your life when you realized you needed Jesus. You didn't run from that. Matter of fact, the night I got saved, I said, Lord, I'm not running anymore. And I ran not from him anymore, but I ran to him. It said the trumpeters and the singers were as one. If I can find this in the book of Acts, It's the same word that when the church came together. Acts chapter 2. Acts chapter 2. I'm going to turn over and read for just a minute. And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, They were all with one accord in one place. They had the same mind and they had the same purpose. Now I'm fixin' to get real personal with all of you that are here today. I don't know how many people's here, don't have a head count, but I wanna ask you a question today. What is your purpose right here, right now? Well, preacher, I was told that I had to come this morning, so I'm here. That's fine. I understand that. But you've got to realize is that the purpose of the church was to glorify Christ. Today, why are you here? What is your purpose? Acts chapter 2 verse 1 it says, and with one accord in one place. Do you see the harmony that's going on here in the book of Acts? That there was harmony, that there was unity that was coming together. Not only that the people had a harmony with each other, but with each other they had harmony with God. You want to talk about another tough question this morning? How many people, and I'll even say right here right now, how many of us are in harmony with God and the Word of God? We'll talk about that in a minute. But folks, it's not about just being in harmony with each other, but it's about those of us collectively as a church being in harmony with Him. What do I mean by that? You know, the church can be playing one song and two people can be over here to the side and they're in harmony playing a whole different song. Even though they're in harmony, they're not playing the right song. And my point is this, is that we all need to be on the same page, playing the same song, glorifying our Savior, Jesus Christ. That's what this is about this morning. For the trumpeters and the singers were as one. The psalmist tells us in Psalm 133 in the very first verses that how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity. Why is it important for unity? Why is it important that we're in harmony? And we don't wanna just discuss and be able to understand unity with each other. We're talking about a harmony or a unity with God. How does this unity happen? How did it happen in Acts chapter two? How is David talking about this in Psalm 133 and in verse one? And he's talking about this unity, but it all happens because of the power of God in our lives. Paul said in the book of Philippians. Philippians chapter four. Flip in chapter four, let me read to you if I can in verse six. Be careful for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God. So again, he's talking about that You need to come to God, prayer, thanksgiving is included in that. Let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Now I read you that seventh verse particularly, that passes all understanding. Because when you really look at that in the Greek language, it means that you have a completeness. Now let's go back and summarize this whole reading here in Philippians chapter four and six and seventh verse. He said, if you enter in to the very place of him with prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, letting your request be made known unto God, he said, you will find peace in your life. And let's just go ahead and go a step further than that. He said, you're gonna find not only peace in your life, you're gonna find completeness in your life. Let's word this a little bit different. Folks, you find completeness in Jesus Christ and in nothing else. I hope you follow what I'm saying right there this morning is that in the Greek, it's talking about that our wholeness and our completeness is not in our neighbors. Our wholeness and our completeness is not in our jobs. Our wholeness and our completeness is not in our hobbies that we have. Our wholeness and our completeness comes from Jesus Christ. And that's why he said, and there it says, passes all understanding. It's whole, it's complete. It's like a piece of the puzzle that goes in. It feels that it's complete. Through all the chaos, it's there, it's complete. And can I tell you this? Once your life is complete and you have God, and you've got the Holy Spirit of God, and we've got Christ in our life, then we're complete. There's no room for anything else. Should we take time this morning to label and mention all the things that can come into your life if you're not complete? Murmurs and jealousies and all these other things can start entering in when our lives are not complete. Let's go back if we can into the book of Second Chronicles. He said, the trumpeters and singers were as one. Here they were, they were in harmony one with another and their instruments, one sounded different than the other, but the trumpeters and the singers were as one. The trumpets don't say words, And the singers, they didn't play the trumpets. But isn't it amazing how they come together? You know what I love about coming together here at Shiloh? We come in here this morning and we all are different. Some are singers, some are trumpeters. But you know what we're all doing? We're all gonna glorify Him. And when we glorify Him, guess what's gonna happen? His presence is gonna fill this place. Oh folks, how I long for a time that heaven opens up and heaven just pours out upon this place and we can just feel, and I say feel, not feel as in touch or sense, F-I-E-L, but feel, F-I-L-L, feel this place with the very presence of God that even Moses couldn't come in. In other words, there's no room for us, there's only room for God. What a wonderful place that is. But listen to what happened, it talks about how that the singers and the trumpeters, how they all came together and they were as one. Do you remember what Jesus teaches us in the book of Matthew chapter 18? How that if two or three be gathered together? Let's read if we can for just a minute of the book of Matthew chapter 18. Matthew chapter 18, let me read to you if I can in the 19th verse. Jesus speaking. That if we're going to have unity, that if we're going to have restoration that's going to happen. And he's talking about the lost sheep that's going to happen earlier here and how that, that in discipline and these things happen. He said that if two of you shall agree on earth and touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my father, which is in heaven. So if we're gonna do the things we should, he said we should be in harmony when we do it. And by the way, can I inject this here? It's important for person A and person B to be in harmony. But more importantly, if person A is in sync with the Holy Spirit of God, and person B is in sync with the Holy Spirit of God, then guess what person A and B are? They will be in sync also. And I'm telling you that to you in a very elementary way to understand, folks, that it's not about what somebody besides you is doing. It's about what you feel inside of you. If you will just do what God lays on your heart, we're all going to make a joyful, beautiful noise. The trumpeters, he said, and the singers, he said, if you two of you are coming together, touching and agreeing, he said, anything He said, and you shall ask and it shall be done for them. For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them. Touching and agreeing. The word agreeing actually is a word we probably could understand that means to have sympathy. Our world is lacking in sympathy. Sympathy that we understand that we're a fleshly people that's in need of God. But may we understand that we all are in need of a savior in our life and that God's presence is important. Folks today, do you have sympathy for those that don't have God's presence in your life? And what I mean by that is this. Do you long for others that don't have what you have to have what you have? That's a question. Do you want others to feel what you feel? If we feel so good and we feel so peaceful, we love his church, we love his cause so great, then I pray today that we would share it with others that they too might come to the knowledge of this truth. Look what happened. It said they were, this is back in second Chronicles. They were thanking the Lord and they praise the Lord saying, for he is good. You know, sometimes a dark cloud sets in on a place. I want to describe something to you for just a second. You know what a dark cloud is? We, a lot of times, want to label a dark cloud as problems. Maybe their house burned down, then their car tire went flat, and then they lost their job, and then they got sick. We just want to talk about a black cloud that kind of hovers in, and those are just examples. But let me ask you this. Do you ever get to a point in your life where you don't see what all's wrong in your life but you only can see what's right in your life? You only see God's presence. So many of us today that our eyes are focused on the wrong or the things that are outside of our control. Aren't you glad today that we can fixate our eyes on the one that's in control of all things? The one today that can take care of everything that we have in our life. And he said, they were thanking the Lord. They were praising the Lord. Look what they were doing. They were thanking the Lord. They were thanking Him for all that He had done. And you know what? When they expressed their gratitude unto Him, you and I, in our culture, the word, when they were talking about their thanking the Lord, it's our gesture of a handshake. It's an acknowledgement that you did something for me. You know what today, folks? There's no denying. If I was to walk up and shake your hand, there's no denying that you're the one that I'm addressing, folks. May we live our lives and may we worship him in a way that there is no confusion about the one that we are giving glory and thankfulness to. For he said, they were thanking the Lord. And they were saying, he is good. I've already told you this morning that we truly understand that God is good to us. Psalm in the 100th division of the book of Psalm. There's five verses in Psalm 100. Bear with me and I'll read them for just a minute. Psalm 100 and in verse one. Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. By the way, when he talks about a joyful noise under the Lord, he's talking about a verbal, shout it out. Don't try to whisper it. Serve the Lord with gladness. Come before his presence with singing. Part of me wants to ask myself a question. How could you come into his presence with anything but singing? Know ye that the Lord, he is God. What a very core principle of what we have. Knowing ye that the Lord, he is God. It is he that hath made us and not we ourselves. We are his people and the sheep of his pasture. Notice what's happening here. This most likely in the temple here where the people have entered in. Enter into the gates with thanksgiving and enter into his courts with praise. Be thankful unto him and bless his name. Today we want you to see is that what they desire to do is gather together and realize there was a name above all names for the Lord is good. Again, this morning, I know this is what we talk about in 2 Chronicles, but look right here again in Psalm 100 and in verse 5. For the Lord is good. How many of you would agree today that the Lord is good? But I thought about something else. I started looking at the word good. It actually means that not only does God provide for us, but He provides for us in a moral way. What does that really mean, preacher, when you say it in a moral way? You know what? God is not trying to beat the system, or God's not trying to do things in an unruly way. He is giving us according to His will. And aren't you thankful today that we can say, for the Lord is good, His mercy is everlasting, and His truth endureth to all generations. Maybe this morning we could come in here and I was to play a game and just say, I'm going to give you the characteristics of a person and you tell me who they are. Who today is good? Who today has mercy that is everlasting? Who today has truth that endure through all generations? And the answer is God. You don't have, you may possess these things, but you don't have them everlasting. You don't have these that endure to all generations. We only have these things that last for a little while. So in 2 Chronicles, listen to what we're reading about. For his mercy endureth forever. What we read to you there in the book of Exodus said, then the cloud covered the tent of the meeting and the glory of the Lord filled The tabernacle. Folks, I really get this idea, and I really get this picture, that there was an undeniable fullness of the presence of God. I wanna ask you another personal question today. If you're here and you've been saved, you'll know what I'm talking about, maybe, hopefully. How many of you today can say that when you become submissive unto him, that you will be filled with an undeniable presence of God? Would you agree with that? People want to talk about why they're empty in their vein and why they feel all these certain ways, folks. When you get filled with the goodness of God and you can say God is good, there's no room for these other things. For they begin to understand that His mercy endureth forever. We've got to come together in harmony and praise. We got to lift up his holy name. We come together today not to do it in the same way, but we do it to the same person, to the same one. I understand that some have instruments. I understand that some have singers, but we're all come together. And you've heard me talk about, we're all under the direction of the one that is the leader of us. And he's there to conduct us and to give us what we need. And as long as he is guiding in our life, we're all doing the same thing, singing the same song, Maybe wording it a little bit different, we're all marching to the beat of the same drum. But we wonder, why does the world go this way, and one in the world go this way, and people have all these beautiful, splendorous things that they have, but they don't have the presence of God in their life. My heart goes out to many people that gather together, and they use the name or the title of church, but they don't know what it's like to be filled with the presence of God. They know what religion's about. They know what the gospel teaches from a historical context. But I want to tell you something, folks. There's a vast difference in knowing about God in your mind and knowing about God in your soul. But so many people begin to understand this. And he talked about how that they came together and said, and they understood that for he is good, for his mercy endureth forever. That then the house was filled with a cloud even the house of the Lord. This morning my prayer is that we come together in unity and harmony and we do what he wants us to do, that this house, our lives, but more specifically our own house, spiritual houses and lives, might be led by him. So I wanna go back to what we said in the very beginning about God's presence. When sometimes a room is filled, we say, move up from there, we wanna make room. Is there anybody here this morning that needs to make room for him? Maybe that's why he's knocking at your heart's door. He's wanting you to let him in. But you have to let go of something. And whatever that is, that's between you and God. God bless you this morning. That's the things I felt like I needed to say. Let's get a song.
