This is Vision for Christ World,
Toledo, Ohio, USA. My name is Tim Taylor. Everything
in the Bible is in some way related to salvation in Jesus Christ,
being saved from eternal destruction that we all rightly deserve for
our sin and rebellion against God. Usually on this program
I choose a topic to explore. Today I'm going to give a very
brief overview of the New Testament book of Ephesians, but my topic
always relates to how you can establish a permanent, saving
relationship with the Savior, Jesus Christ. Father God, let
me show everyone who you really are and reveal your only Son,
Jesus Christ, to those who are listening. Praying in Jesus'
name, Amen. You may contact us through our
website at www.visionforchristworld.com. Just click on Contact at the
top of the main page. I will be reading some selected
portions of Ephesians, as time permits, and giving some explanation
on each portion. Chapter 1 This letter is from
Paul, chosen by the will of God to be an apostle of Christ Jesus.
I am writing to God's holy people in Ephesus, who are faithful
followers of Christ Jesus. May God our Father and the Lord
Jesus Christ give you grace and peace. All praise to God, the
Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every
spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms, because we are united
with Christ. even before He made the world,
God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without
fault in His eyes. God decided in advance to adopt
us into His own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what He wanted to do,
and it gave Him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious
grace He has poured out on us who belong to His dear Son. He
is so rich in kindness and grace that He purchased our freedom
with the blood of His Son and forgave our sins. He has showered
His kindness on us along with all wisdom and understanding.
God has now revealed to us His mysterious will regarding Christ,
which is to fulfill His own good plan. And this is the plan. At the right time, He will bring
everything together under the authority of Christ, everything
in heaven and on earth. Furthermore, because we are united
with Christ, we have received an inheritance from God, for
He chose us in advance, and He makes everything work out according
to His plan. I also pray that you will understand
the incredible greatness of God's power for us who believe Him.
This is the same mighty power that raised Christ from the dead
and seated Him in the place of honor at God's right hand in
the heavenly realms. Now He is far above any ruler
or authority or power or leader or anything else, not only in
this world but also in the world to come. God has put all things
under the authority of Christ. and has made him head over all
things for the benefit of the Church, and the Church is his
body. It is made full and complete
by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself. Okay,
now my comments. If you have chosen Jesus as your
Savior and surrendered your life to Him, it is then that you realize
that actually God in Christ chose you first, long before your birth. If you have not surrendered your
life to Jesus, and if you continue in this obstinate rebellion against
him until your death, this will reveal that you were not among
those chosen by God. God has already made his choice
of people. Your choice for or against God
only reveals, but does not change, the choice of God. Chapter 2
of Ephesians. Once you were dead because of
your disobedience and your many sins, you used to live in sin
just like the rest of the world, obeying the devil, the commander
of the powers in the unseen world. He is the spirit at work in the
hearts of those who refuse to obey God. All of us used to live
that way, following the passionate desires and inclinations of our
sinful nature. By our very nature, we were subject
to the anger of God, just like everyone else. But God is so
rich in mercy, and he loved us so much, that even though we
were dead because of our sins, he gave us life when he raised
Christ from the dead. It is only by the grace of God
that you have been saved. For He raised us from the dead
along with Christ and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms
because we are united with Christ Jesus. So God can point to us
in all future ages as examples of the incredible wealth of His
grace and kindness toward us, as shown in all He has done for
us who are united with Christ Jesus. God saved you by his grace
when you believed, and you cannot take credit for this. It is a
gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for
the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about
it, for we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ
Jesus so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago. Now again my comments. Salvation
is open to all who humbly confess Christ as their Lord and Master,
received by grace through faith. Salvation is 100% from God and
not at all from ourselves or any human for that matter. Ephesians
chapter 3. When I think of all this, I fall
to my knees and pray to the Father, the Creator of everything in
heaven and on earth. I pray that from His glorious
unlimited resources, He will empower you with inner strength
through His Spirit. Then Christ will make His home
in your hearts as you trust in Him. Your roots will grow down
into the love of God and keep you strong. And may you have
the power to understand, as all the people of God should, how
wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love is. May you
experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand
fully. Then you will be made complete
with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power
at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might
ask or think. Glory to him in the Church and
in Christ Jesus, through all generations, forever and ever. Amen. Now, again, my comments. Chapter 4 coming up has practical
daily living advice on how Christians should live, not to gain salvation,
but to show their loving faithfulness to Christ. Now some excerpts
from chapters 4 and 5 of Ephesians. So stop telling lies. Let us
tell our neighbors the truth, for we are all parts of the same
body. And do not sin by letting anger
control you. Do not let the sun go down while
you are still angry, for anger gives a foothold to the devil.
If you are a thief, quit stealing. Instead, use your hands for good
hard work, and then give generously to others in need. Do not use
foul or abusive language. Let everything you say be good
and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those
who hear them. And do not bring sorrow to the
Holy Spirit of God by the way you live. Remember, He has identified
you as His own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the
day of redemption. Get rid of all bitterness, rage,
anger, harsh words, and slander, as well as all types of evil
behavior. Instead, be kind to each other,
tender-hearted, forgiving one another, just as God through
Christ has forgiven you. Imitate God, therefore, in everything
you do, because you are his dear children. Live a life filled
with love, following the example of Christ. He loved us and offered
himself as a sacrifice for us, a pleasing aroma to God. Let
there be no sexual immorality, impurity, or greed among you. Such sins have no place among
the people of God. Obscene stories, foolish talk,
and coarse jokes—these are not for you. Instead, let there be
thankfulness to God. You can be sure that no immoral,
impure, or greedy person will inherit the kingdom of Christ
and of God. For a greedy person is an idolater,
worshiping the things of this world." Now again, my comments. Chapter 6 of Ephesians gives
advice to Christians on how to live the Christian life even
though we are opposed by Satan and his evil forces in this world. Here is chapter 6 excerpted from
Ephesians. A final word, be strong in the
Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of the armor of God,
so that you'll be able to stand firm against all strategies of
the devil. For we are not fighting against
flesh and blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities
of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world,
and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put
on every piece of the armor of God, so you will be able to resist
the enemy in the time of evil. Then, after the battle, you will
still be standing firm. Stand your ground, putting on
the belt of truth and the body armor of the righteousness of
God. For shoes, put on the piece that
comes from the good news, so that you will be fully prepared.
In addition to all of these, hold up the shield of faith to
stop the fiery arrows of the devil. Put on salvation as your
helmet and take the sword of the Spirit which is the Word
of God. Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent
in your prayers for all believers everywhere. And pray for me,
too. Ask God to give me the right
words so I can boldly explain the mysterious plan of God that
the good news is for Jews and Gentiles alike. Peace be with
you, dear brothers and sisters, and may God the Father and the
Lord Jesus Christ give you love with faithfulness. May the grace
of God be eternally upon all who love our Lord Jesus Christ. Now let me pray for you. Father
God, in the name of your one and only unique Son, Jesus Christ,
I ask you to send your Holy Spirit to touch the heart and mind of
every person listening to me right now. Cause them to desire
to have their sins taken away, to pray and ask to be granted
repentance that leads to life by God, and to repent of their
sins. Honestly, sincerely repent, to
have that penalty for sin removed, so that through the faith you
give them, they may believe in you, Jesus, and have eternal,
never-ending life, starting today, by having personal saving faith
in you, Lord Jesus. Amen. The purpose of this program
is to spread the message of what Jesus Christ has done to provide
salvation for people as they believe in Jesus. Our Vision
