And you should bring with that
sacrifice a good attitude. Let's hear some amens from the
young ones. That's a good place for you to say amen. Abel obeyed,
but Abel was the one that died. Mankind failed again. Even with a conscience, knowing
good and evil, mankind still fell. You have a conscience. We saw that in the garden. And
until they fell, guess what? Their state of innocence couldn't
save them. Who had to step in? God. Now we're saying conscience,
knowing good and evil, that can't save us. God is still going to
have to step in. Now if we can have some, we're
going to need some young people for this. Okay, let's see. Wilder? Wilder, I
would like you to bring me the, okay, there's ketchup and mustard
up here, Wilder. I would like you to bring me
the ketchup, please. Bring me the ketchup. Okay, excellent. Excellent job. Excellent job.
Milani, I would like you to bring me, not the fruit from the ground.
I don't want you to bring me vegetables. I want you to bring
me a blood, not a bloodless sacrifice, a blood sacrifice. I want you
to bring me that dead chicken that's in the can over there.
Bring me that dead chicken in the can. I'm pretty good. I mean, you're doing good. Everybody's
doing good in one sense. Let me see. Aiden, there's a
Pepsi up there and a Diet Pepsi. I want the stuff with the fake
sugar in it. I want the Diet Pepsi. Can you bring me that
Diet Pepsi? Because that'll allow me to eat an extra cheeseburger
today. Bring me the Diet Pepsi. That one in that silver can right
here. Can you grab that? Can you grab that, bud? That's
it. Bring that on over to me. Thank
you very much. I appreciate that. And let's
see, Lily. Lily, there's a knife and there's
a spoon over there. You probably shouldn't run with
knives or cut your knives. So we're gonna go with the spoon.
Can you please bring me the spoon? Bring me the spoon. Excellent job, okay. Now, glory
to God, they did a great job. Didn't they all obey? But there
is one thing about that. You didn't do it like you do
it at home sometimes. So I'm gonna have to step in and help
you out a little bit. You guys go over there, go over there. Now, Hannah asked me to bring
something over. Bring the corn? Hmm. You know
what? I'm kind of thinking that, yeah,
I'm kind of thinking the chicken will be a better idea. Here's
the chicken. And what do you say? Well, yeah,
I mean, it goes with corn. You know, chicken and corn go
together all the time. I mean, I kind of like this. We'll just
go with this. Yeah, that's what we'll do. That's
what we'll do. That's what we'll do. Okay. Josiah asked me to
bring one of the choices over that we have here. Pepsi. Pepsi. Pepsi. Well, there are two Pepsis here.
I mean, I'm thinking we'll just go with the diet Pepsi, not the
regular Pepsi, because it's kind of like the same, but it really
isn't, but it is. So here's the diet Pepsi. And what are you going to say?
I want the real Pepsi. I didn't tell you to bring over
the diet. I asked you to bring me over the real one, right?
Well, I mean, all you got to do is just put your thumb over
it like that. I mean, what's the difference? It's just, see, it's
just the same. And then you're going to say,
yeah, but I want the real sugar. So go ahead and say, I want the
real sugar. I want the real sugar. I mean, there's sugar in here. I mean,
just read the back of it. It's sugar, sugar. What's the big
deal? So there. There you go. Here
you go. OK. Wilder? Who didn't I call on?
Melanie, go ahead and ask me to bring something over. The ketchup? You know, I kind of like mustard
better. It really is. It's in the same
container. They're probably made in the
same factory. After you take a couple of bites,
you won't even know. It'll just blend right in. Just
think ketchup when you eat mustard. And what are you going to say?
I asked for the ketchup, not the mustard. Oh, what are you so mean for?
Why are you judging me? I brought you the mustard. You
asked me to bring you something and I brought you the mustard. You're so legalistic. You really... I just don't get you people.
I just don't get you. I do all this work, I get the
mustard, I bring it over to you and now you're complaining about
the ketchup. Don't you know that there are people that don't have
ketchup and they'd be thankful to have mustard. And what are
you going to say? That's right, you are going to
say, I want the ketchup. Because it doesn't matter what
excuse we bring to God, we know in our conscience what is right
and what is wrong. Especially if God was speaking
to you from heaven. You would know good versus evil,
right from wrong, the choice that God wants you to make, he
made a narrow way, and he said, hey, this is the sacrifice that
I want. Cain thought he had a better
way. Thank you. You guys did great. All right,
take your seats. You can't, well, you can, because
people do, God doesn't want us to just start
making stuff up in our mind and acting like it's true. He wants us to simply obey what
He said to do. And if you do that, you're going
to have right fellowship with God. Which brings us to the second
time that God speaks from the fall to the flood, and that's
in Genesis 5. and that's to Enoch. Everybody
say Enoch. Enoch pictures a few things. We're going to talk about just
one tonight. Enoch pictures fellowship with the Lord. That's the picture
of Enoch in Genesis 5. Let's read verses 21 in Genesis
5 to verses 24. Let's read that together. And Enoch lived sixty and five
years, and begat Methuselah. And Enoch walked with God after
he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and begat sons and daughters. And all the days of Enoch were
three hundred sixty and five years, and Enoch walked with
God, and he was not for God took him." Now, a few things in this
passage. Number one, Enoch is walking with God. It's a picture
of fellowship. And it's a beautiful picture.
God saves a man to do what? Right. Restore a relationship
with Him. Restore fellowship with Him.
That is right. God saves to restore. Young people say that. God saves
to restore. Let me hear you say it. God saves to restore. Alright, very good. Oh, the other
thing here is that if anybody's in for new baby names, Methuselah's
up for grabs. Just throw that out there. You
know, pray about it. I haven't met anyone that named
their child that. I mean, what do you call them? Methi? I mean,
what's for a nickname? It wouldn't go well, I don't
think, that way with Ursula. But here's an interesting phrase.
Look at verse number 24. And Melanie, can you read that
verse 24? Can you read it nice and loud? In Genesis 5, verse 24. Alright,
right there, freeze. What does that say? And he was
what? And he was what, Melanie? Not. Everybody say that. And he was
not. Isn't that a strange verse in the Bible? And Enoch walked
with God and he was not. Everybody say that nice and loud.
And he was not. And you know what? If you walk
with God, you're going to be a not. You're going to not manifest
yourself. You are going to manifest more
of who God wants you to be. Enoch pictures a relationship,
a fellowship, a walk with God where Enoch was not. It was God
who was the focus. And that's where we should be
as Christians. Let's not walk as we would want.
Let's get out of the way like Enoch. Excellent. Yes, sir. And we can
have fellowship with our God even though we're surrounded
by the mess that we're surrounded by. But as we see, As we're going
to see here in a minute, wickedness is going to abound. It is abounding,
but it didn't abound with Enoch. But the important thing about
Enoch is he was not. So if you're saved, if you're
saved, give God some praise. Say amen if you're saved. If
you're saved. Guess what? You're not who you used to be.
The old you is not. Now you walk with God and you're
not. What you got saved out of, what you used to be, that's not
who you are anymore. It's not who you are anymore.
It's not who you are anymore. You're walking as not. You're
not there. What people used to see, now
they don't see. They see the new you. The Christ
that liveth in you. That's kind of the idea. Peculiar
people. So there's the idea. God spoke to Cain. Who did God
speak to next? Enoch. We're talking about from the
fall to the flood. God spoke to Cain. No written
word. God spoke in fellowship with
Enoch. There was fellowship there. There's
a relationship there. And then there's one more person
between the fall and the flood that the Bible tells us how God
spoke. Go to Genesis 6. Genesis 6. Wilder,
can you read verse 5? And then Hannah, can you read verse number 6? Dominic, can you read verse number
7? Can you help Aidan read? If Aidan can
do verse number 8. Okay, who's first? And the Lord said, I will destroy
man whom I have created from the face of the earth, both man and beast, and the creeping
thing, and the fowls of the air, for it repented me that I have
made them. That's great. Good reading,
Aidan. And everybody did a great job
reading. When we read those verses of Scripture, you know what all
that wickedness tells us? It tells us that evolution can't
be true and isn't true. Because even with a conscience
of knowing good and evil, man doesn't evolve into something
better. Man is getting wickeder and wickeder
even with a conscience. God has to step in. State of innocence. They were
made that way. But God didn't exempt them from
being tempted. And when they fell, God had to
step in. And there was grace, by the way,
right there. Because God could have wiped them out, but He didn't.
He didn't. He covered them with a sacrifice
that points to Christ. Same thing, now we're looking
into this from the fall to the flood, this time when conscience
was their guide. The fairy that flies around,
Peter Pan. Peter Pan. Let your conscience
be your guide. Our conscience knows good and
evil, but our conscience can't save us. So we see now God is
stepping in again. Watch what it says in verse 13
of Genesis 6, And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is
come before me, and the earth is filled with violence through
them. And behold, I will destroy them with the earth. Make thee
an ark of gopher wood. Well, I'd rather use pine, God.
Rooms shalt thou make in the ark. You know, do we really need
rooms, Lord? And shalt pitch it within and without the pitch.
I kind of have a better way. I think maybe we'll build it
this way, Lord. And this is the fashion which thou shalt make
of it. The length of the ark shall be 300 cubits. Why don't
we have a meeting about that, Lord? I think maybe 200 will
be sufficient. The breadth of it, 50 cubits.
I'm thinking 40. And the height of it, 30 cubits.
I think that's a little overkill. Let's just cut that in half and
go with 15. A window shall thou make to the
ark, and in a cubic shall thou finish it above. And the door
of the ark shall thou set in the side thereof. I was thinking
in the front, it just kind of stages better. You know, when
you're coming up the driveway, it just looks better. The window,
why don't we just place it to the left of the door. We'll get
some natural sunlight. We'll make sure it's facing south.
Lord, I got this for You, Lord. That's not what's happening,
is it? And behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon
the earth to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life
from under heaven, and everything that is in the earth shall die. But with thee will I establish
my covenant, and thou shalt come into the ark, thou and thy sons,
and thy wife, and thy sons' wives with thee. And of every living
thing of all flesh, two of every sort shalt thou bring into the
ark, to keep them alive with thee. They shall be male and
female, because that's the only way things stay alive and propagate. Of fowls after their kind, cattle
after their kind, of creeping things of their kind, his kind
too, every sort shall come unto thee to keep them alive. and
take thou unto thee of all food that is eaten, and thou shalt
gather it to thee, and it shall be for food for thee and for
them. Thus Noah did. The foolishness that I read into
the verse for the sake of drawing out the truth of the fact that
Noah, he did according to all that God commanded him, so he
did. I mean, do you see that last
verse? It's three times we're told in three different ways
because man is just rebellious. We just hate authority in our
heart. We hate it. So God, three times, He says,
thus did Noah. That's one way He communicated
it. Then He says, according to all that God commanded him. And
then it says, so did he. All of it. He did it. Thus did
Noah. He didn't question the Lord.
What a picture. What a picture. Do you know why? Because knowing God leads to
walking with God, Enoch, leads to serving God, Noah. That's
the picture. And the other picture is this. Did mankind fall again? Even
with a conscience? What did God do? Provide what? That's right. And it was many
ways of restoration, right? It had a back door, a side door,
an attic door, a cellar door. Or was there one door? Again, a narrow or broad way. Narrow. One door. Jesus said,
I am the door. You come in me as the ark of
salvation. I will save you from all of the
wickedness. There's nothing difficult about
it at all. One way. One way. But we see with a conscience
knowing good and evil, man still failed. God was still there to
provide a way because He always has a way of escape. Young people,
God always has a way of escape. You just have to take the escape
door. Can't keep our relationship with
God with a conscience. So, that's that. Go back to Genesis 3 for one
second, and then get in your hand Romans 12. Genesis 3 and
Romans 12. Just to get a bit of a time frame
here, Genesis 3. Let's read verses 5, 6, and 7
together. Genesis 3, 5 through 7. The Bible says, "...for God doth
know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened,
and ye shall be as God's, knowing good and evil." You see that?
After the fall they knew good and evil. They had an inward
working, an inward conscience that was working and guiding
them. Let's read verse 6 and 7. And when the woman saw that
the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes,
and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit
thereof, and did eat, and gave it also unto her husband with
her, and he did eat. And the eyes of them both were
opened, and they knew that they were naked, and they sewed fig
leaves together, and made themselves aprons." And we talked about
that last week. But they knew good and evil after the fall. Last week we talked about that
state of innocence from creation to the fall. And then we talked
about how, yes, that happened during that time, but there isn't
an end point for that truth of being dispensed out. Why? Because we said that even now,
our state of innocence is from our birth to our willful transgression
of the law, right? And then we answered the question
of, are babies born and conceived in sin? They are. Are they cute
little sinners? They are. But until they willfully
transgress God's law, we looked at 1 Samuel and we look at Romans
5, verse 13, and we saw that yes, they are, but God's not
going to do what? their sin to their account, even
though they are sinners, God's not going to impute sin to their
account. There's a dispensation or a covering. God's grace covers them. And
we looked at David's baby as an example and we proved it in
both the Old and New Testament. So I have to say that to say
that now that we see from the fall to the flood this time of
conscience that's ruling and guiding, does that ever stop
being a thing? Or did it ever stop being a thing?
No. Now where do we go for that in
our Bibles to prove it biblically? Anybody got an answer? We would go to Romans 2. Let's
go there. Romans 2. Romans 2. Should be Romans 2.
In Romans 2, let's read v. 14-15 together. Ready? Romans 2, v. 14-15. For when the Gentiles, which
have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law,
these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves, which
show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience
also bearing witness, and their thoughts the meanwhile accusing
or else excusing one another. Where is the law written? in
their hearts. State of innocence, this time
of conscience. There was no Mosaic Law. By the
way, in the state of innocence, there was no conscience. It wasn't
until after the fall that now this new truth now is introduced. Man now knows good and evil.
The conscience has come into play. That is what is to govern
them. Cain knew. He chose not to do. And he failed. God had to step
in. Why? Because even knowing good and
evil, even having a conscience written in our hearts, it can't
save us. We need God's grace. So we have man has a written
work inwardly. Inwardly. We'll get into contrasting this
with the law when we get to the law. I want to save that material
for that time. But look at John 8. Let's look
at another one. John 8. Lily, can you read John 8? Verse
9. Yeah, read the whole verse. John
8-9. Perfect, perfect. That's the
point here. How were they convicted? They were convicted by their
own what? You mean they didn't have the
law? They didn't. They didn't. The conviction came
by their own what? Your conscience can convict you
of what is good and what is evil. It can't save you. God has to
come in. But it can convict you. That's why God gave us a conscience
so that we can come under, fill in the blank, conviction. He built us, He designed us,
He made us so that our conscience can come under conviction when
we hear truth. We can go around the room for
the next couple of hours and just have everybody testify on
how they've been convicted of things. So, praise the Lord for
that. So we can divide out a time between
the fall and the flood. And we can say that that time
frame was an age of conscience. But it isn't that simple because
we can't put an end stamp on that. In other words, we can't say
God only spoke to man that way from the fall to the flood. Do
we see that divided out in Genesis? Yes. But we can't go on to say
that that's the only time that that happens. Because it has
happened since that truth has been dispensed. And it's still
happening now. My conscience can't save me.
My conscience can't even keep me from sinning. But I'll tell
you what it can do. It can produce some fear. And
at no point Did God ever recall that truth of the conscience
being able to know good versus evil? And don't matter if you're
saved or lost this morning, God can start dealing with you according
to your conscience, saved or lost. Saved, convicted to do
some things or stop doing some things you shouldn't be doing.
So that's the idea. Last verse and then we're done.
If you have any questions, we'll take them. Hebrews 9. Verse number
14. Hannah, can you read Hebrews 9.14? from what? Dead works. To do what? To serve the living
God. That's right. Christ purged your conscience
and mine from dead works. Now we are free to serve Him. And whatever renders your conscience
filthy and dirty and black and vile, God's sacrifice can make
you clean and if you're saved, He has made you clean. And the
Jews made an offering, an external offering that could never take
away sins. You want to talk about purging or purgatory? Remember we were talking about
that the other week? That's a great verse to take
someone that believes in purgatory. There's some purging. It was
done on the cross. It was done on the cross. No
more purging has to take place.
