to Proverbs chapter 15. Proverbs
chapter 15. This started out as a study on
the evil eye. I looked up everywhere the word
eye and evil were conjoined in a verse, and I came up with nine
verses total. And I was going to go through
these things because the Bible has quite a bit to say about
the evil eye and what an evil eye is. And that study is coming,
whether it be tonight or whether it be sometime in the near future.
But as I was going down through these things, there was some
other things that just kind of kept coming to me and coming
to me and coming to me. And this morning, as I was kind
of going over everything and getting ready for the day and
just spending time with the Lord and his word, As I told my wife
this morning, the LORC just started giving me all sorts of stuff.
Like, it just started pouring in. And I still am having a hard
time filtering it all out, all right? There's just so much that
he kind of poured in all at once. Almost like that storm we got
last night. And it, our eaves troughs could not keep up with
it. Like, they're perfectly clear and empty, and I cleaned them
out, and they are there designed, and they're sized properly for
the, the water was pouring over the things. Okay? That's how
much rain we got. And we got, you know, quarter-sized
hail. It wasn't a lot of quarter-sized hail. Most of it was about the
size of a pea. But we got a lot of quarter-sized hail. I know
Cowdery Sport got it worse, but enough about the storm. But that's
almost what it was like this morning as I was trying to go
through all of these things. And as I got down through this,
and as I was going down through, I decided, you know what? I believe
the Lord would have us to look at a connection between the eyes
and the spirit. Okay, this is gonna be foundational
for when we look at that evil eye, all right? And so we're
gonna look this morning at the connection between the eyes and
the spirit. This is not a full study on the
topic. This isn't a full expounding
on this thing. This is really just a few basic
principles to lay down to look at what is the connection between
the eyes and the Spirit. We're gonna be looking at what
the Word of God says about it, specifically dealing with the
eyes of the Lord and the Spirit of the Lord, okay? And so as
we expound on these things, as we look at these few different
passages, I believe we'll see these things come to light and
try to keep it just foundational this morning as we look at this.
But as I requested, please do pray for me as I try to get through
these things. But in Proverbs chapter 15, this
is where we're going to start. This will be somewhat of a springboard
for us. Proverbs 15 in verse 3. It says, the eyes of the Lord
are in every place, beholding the evil and the good. This is
a concept that carries throughout the word of God. And if you follow
this principle, this is absolutely a precept in the word of God.
This is a doctrinal verse, okay? Which is interesting because
all scripture is profitable and is given for doctrine. Okay? But here we find a great doctrine
and a great precept that you can build upon. Now, I want you
to understand, when you are building precept upon precept, line upon
line, here a little, there a little, you're not building a wall to
separate you from anything. That's not what you're doing.
What you're doing is you are building a tower so that you
can see farther. Okay? And as God builds precept
upon precept, line upon line, it's going to take you up higher
and higher and loftier and loftier. And you're going to be able to
see not only farther, but you're going to have a higher perspective
of the things that you saw at first. Okay? If you were in, has anybody walked
the streets of New York City? Okay? Anybody ridden in a cab
in the streets of New York City? Oh, a few, okay. Not many people
here would really want to, right? One thing about riding in a cab
or just a car in New York City is all you can see is the storefronts
and the doors and the people. You can kind of peek out a little
bit, but you can't, those skyscrapers are way too tall. You can't see
the top. Okay? And if you do, there's
not a whole lot of detail there. And so for the majority of people
in New York City, really because they're just so heavy laden and
down and depressed, all they see is what's here. Okay? But I've also gone up into the
Empire State Building. Okay, ridden to the observatory
part up at the top, and I was probably around Trevor's age,
maybe a little younger. I can't remember exactly when.
Went and visited my cousin. She lives in New York City. I
still pray for her. She's not living there anymore. But we
went up there and we were able to see everything. I mean, the
Empire State Building isn't the tallest building in New York
City. I believe that's the Freedom Tower now. But from that Empire
State Building, you could see a whole different perspective.
You could see all the streets and everything lining up. You
could see farther. You could see more detail. You
could see the broader picture of everything. But when you're
down at the bottom, you just can't see a whole lot. Okay?
And so that's what you want to keep in mind as you're studying
the word of God, as you are allowing God to build precept upon precept,
it's to get you to a higher plane. Okay? A higher plane than I have
found. Lord, plant my feet on higher
ground. Do you know how he does that?
Precept upon precept. That's how he plants your feet
on higher ground. Okay? This is something that
is foundational that you can build upon, and we are going
to do that this morning. that you're gonna build upon,
and you'll be able to see Jesus in the volume of the book. I
believe that's the ultimate goal, is it not? I really believe that's
what God wants for us, is for us to be able to see his blessed
son, his precious son, in the volume of the book. Okay, and
so this is very foundational. The eyes of the Lord are in every
place, beholding the evil and the good. Now what does this
mean? It means that the eyes of the Lord are in every place,
and that those eyes behold both the evil and the good. Okay,
that's a very, very deep study right there. But we're gonna
go a little deeper. Let's go ahead and go to 2 Chronicles
16. 2 Chronicles 16. We're following a couple of phrases.
We're following a couple of words throughout the King James Bible.
And what this is going to do, it is going to give you a fullness
of understanding of that verse that we just read. Okay? 2 Chronicles 16, and look at
verse nine. Oh, I'm in 17.9, I'm sorry, here
we are, 16.9. For the eyes of the Lord run
to and fro throughout the whole earth to show himself strong
in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. And it
goes on, herein thou hast done foolishly, therefore from henceforth
thou shalt have wars. Now, you got to understand everything
that's going on with Asa and, you know, the king of Syria and
everything that's going on there. But the doctrine that we're looking
at here is that, again, the eyes of the Lord go to and fro in
all the earth. They go here and there. They
come here, and they go there. They come to, and they go fro,
okay? Which is exactly what we just read in Proverbs 13, that
the eyes of the Lord are in every place, beholding the evil and
the good. And so what we have here is a little bit more understanding.
Not only are they in every place, but they go here and there. And
there is a specific purpose. It's to show himself strong. But ultimately, it's to show
himself. Now isn't that interesting? That the purpose of the eyes
of the Lord going to and fro is to show himself. He's trying
to show you himself in this study of the eyes. Okay? Precept upon precept. Let's continue
on. Go to Zechariah chapter one. Again, to get to Zechariah, you
start in Matthew, and you go back toward, headed towards Genesis,
and you'll hit Malachi, and then you'll hit Zechariah. And it's not Zachariah. It's
Zechariah. It's an E, not an A. There is
a Zechariah, but it's not a book of the Bible. Just a little more
for you there. If you don't learn anything else,
you'll learn that this morning. Amen. All right, Zechariah chapter
one, look at verse 10. You know what, for the context,
let's do back up. Let's start at verse seven. This is a vision that Zechariah
has here. Upon the four and 20th day of the 11th month, which
is the month Sebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word
of the Lord unto Zechariah, the son of Berechiah, the son of
Iddo, the prophet, saying, I saw by night and behold a man riding
upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle trees that were
in the bottom, and behind him were their red horses speckled
and white. Then said I, O my Lord, what
are these? And the angel that talked with
me said unto me, I will show thee what these be. And the man
that stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, these are
they whom the Lord hath sent to walk to and fro through the
earth. Now to Zechariah, that might
not have made much sense. To me, that didn't make much
sense until I figured out what is actually going to and fro
in all the earth. What goes to and fro in all the
earth? The eyes of the Lord. So what are these that are among
the myrtle trees? What are these representing?
The eyes of the Lord. Okay? Line upon line, precept
upon precept. Okay? And then the vision goes
on from there. I just wanted to pause at that
place, though, to show you this. Again, another place where it
speaks of they that go to and fro through the earth. Now we're
going to build on that even further. Go to Zechariah chapter, let's
see, chapter four. And I want you to look at verse
10. The hands of Zerubbabel have
laid the foundation of this house, and his hands shall also finish
it. And thou shalt know that the
Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you. "'For who hath despised
the day of small things? "'They shall rejoice and see
the plummet "'in the hand of Zerubbabel.'" By the way, a plummet
is like a plumbob, okay? I remember Brother Mike Batt
preached on that one night, and I had a two by four with a plumbob
hanging down, and it shows you if something is out of plumb
or not, if it's level vertically or not, okay? And so this Zerubbabel
has a plummet in his hand, and it says, "'With those seven,
What seven? They are the eyes of the Lord,
which run to and fro through the whole earth. Isn't that neat? So those eyes of the Lord running
to and fro throughout the whole earth are to show himself. He
shows himself strong and battled, but as he shows himself, we see
where we're out of plum. Is it not? Listen, the night I got saved,
I didn't get saved because God showed me how wretched I was.
I got saved because I saw how true Jesus was, how straight
down the line Jesus was, how holy he is. And I believed it. I believed that his grace, that
one that God showed me, was sufficient for me being out of plumb. All
right, and he saved me. It was that easy. It was that
stinking easy. But we make it so hard by putting
everything on you, don't we? Maybe now's not the time for
that one. But we are gonna go a little
further. You know, speaking of the seven,
I've got time. Let's back up to chapter four,
verse one. Let's read that whole thing.
Let's look at this. Look at this, chapter four and
verse one, Zechariah. And the angel that talked with
me came again and waked me as a man that is wakened out of
his sleep and said unto me, what seest thou? And I said, I have
looked and behold a candlestick of all gold. Oh, who is that?
That's Jesus. And with a bowl upon the top
of it, and his seven lamps thereon, and seven pipes to the seven
lamps, which are upon the top thereof. And two olive trees
by it, one on the right side of the bowl, and the other upon
the left side thereof." Now, you get the picture. There's
a candlestick. There's bowls on the top. And
there's seven lamps. And there's two pipes, golden
pipes going to this and two olive trees. Got the whole picture. This is good. All right, verse
four. So I answered and spake to the
angel that talked with me saying, what are these my Lord? Then
the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, knowest
thou not what these be? And I said, no, my Lord. Then
he answered and spake unto me, saying, this is the word of the
Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, not by might nor by power, but
by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. Now I've gotta pause
here. Do you know who that Lord of
hosts is, according to Isaiah chapter six? That's Jesus. Do you notice, is that spirit
capitalized or lowercase in your Bible? It's a small s spirit. You know what that is? That's
the personal spirit of Jesus Christ himself. Again, rising
to the surface as a thread of gold. You follow that smallest spirit
when it's attributed to deity throughout your King James Bible,
according to the Cambridge text. Pre-85, 1985, when they changed
it in 1 John 5.8. But you follow that throughout,
and you'll be able to find everywhere that small s spirit, and it's
attributed to deity, you'll find that's Jesus Christ each and
every time. He is that spirit in Genesis
6-3. My spirit shall not always strive
with man. It's a lowercase s spirit, and it's God speaking, and he
says, my spirit. So, just again, just a little
gold that comes to the top there. I love finding gold. But my spirit
sayeth the Lord of hosts. Verse 7, who art thou great mountain? Before Zerubbabel thou shalt
become a plain and he shall bring forth the headstone thereof with
shouting, crying, grace, grace unto it. And that's a study in
itself. And I have only scratched the
surface on that. And I, I got so far in over my head, I had
to back out. Just that verse right there.
Okay. That's one study that I myself
have backed out of, because God told me it wasn't time yet. So,
at any rate, verse eight. Moreover, the word of the Lord
came unto me, saying, The hands of Zerubbabel have laid the foundation
of this house, and his hands shall also finish it. And thou
shalt know that the Lord of hosts hath sent me unto you. For who
has despised the day of small things? For they shall rejoice
and shall see the plummet in the hand of Zerubbabel with those
seven, those seven lamps. They are the eyes of the Lord
which run to and fro through the whole earth. It's the lamps. Now you go ahead and you look
in that tabernacle at that candlestick and those bowls and the knops
and the things that look like almonds and the oil and the burnings
and the candle, that's Jesus. Okay, you see Jesus in that,
and the oil is there pumped into that thing to burn so there's
a flame so it would fill the room with light, right? No, so
it would shed light over against it so that you could see the
candlestick. The precept I want you to understand
here, that oil is the Holy Ghost, okay? He is that oil. You see
him throughout the Bible spoken of in that manner. There's also
a flame. Okay? He's spoken of throughout
the Bible like that. So when you have the Holy Ghost,
and he turns that oil up just a little bit, and that room gets
a little brighter, and he shows you that candlestick with a little
more detail, that's you seeing Jesus in the volume of the book.
That's you being able to find him on every page, in every line,
as we sang in the opening there in the Sunday school. Hearing
his voice on every line. That's good stuff But these lamps
that the eyes of the Lord was run to and fro through the whole
earth. The reason is is to show himself All right, think of it
this way The spirit of man is the candle of the Lord searching
all the inward parts of the belly one aspect of your spirit is
that it was given to you to search and And the Lord uses that as
a candle. Now it's not a lamp. It's different
than a lamp. But the Lord uses that as a candle
to search all the inner parts of the belly. How does he do
that? Well, he shows you in the volume of the book, his son.
And then he takes that and he shines that light in the far
corner of your heart that you don't want to look at because
it's too dark and it's too gross. And he says, look at that. You say, we're just talking about
the eyes of the Lord. Yeah, but he's searching your heart right now.
What's coming to your mind right now? Maybe you're fighting off
that spirit of slumber. It is warm in here. I mean, we
could turn the ACs on, but at this point, what's the point?
If you're going to stay awake, you're going to stay awake. If
you're going to sleep, you got the spirit of slumber and you're going to sleep. But don't attribute the thoughts
in your heart taking you someplace other than what's being preached.
Don't automatically attribute that to you and your mind wandering.
Now you can make your own mind wander and you can purposefully
not listen to the thing I'm saying. But when you're trying your hardest
to pay attention and these thoughts in your heart keep coming up,
that's God. That's God searching you on the
inward parts, trying to light up an area of your life that
you refuse to look at. But you and your pride, the pride
of your countenance, you're gonna snuff out that candle. You're
gonna hide that thing under a bushel so it cannot look you in the
eye. You don't have to look at your
heart. You don't have to look at your bitterness, your anger,
your hatred, your malice. You don't have to look at the
wickedness of your ways. You don't have to look at your
fornications and adulteries. You don't have to look at how
you've destroyed the temple of God. You don't have to look at
your rebellion against your parents. You'll make excuses. You'll make
excuses. And most of those excuses have
been given to you by well-meaning Baptist preachers. Most of those
excuses have been given to you by those. Rather than letting
the Word of God do what the Word of God does and just search you,
okay? Those eyes are running to and
fro in the whole earth. Is this room part of the whole
earth? Does that mean his eyes as lamps are running to and fro
in this room right now? And they might just light upon
you. and search you like they never have before. There was
a night when they searched me. I couldn't get away from those
eyes. It's a terrifying thing. Oh, but his grace was sufficient.
His grace was sufficient. Amen. All right. There is one
thing I want to look at here at the end of chapter four, but
we're not going to look at that quite yet. I think I might drop
back into that and we'll look at that later on. Let's go to
Revelation, Revelation chapter one, the revelation of St. John
the Divine, chapter one. Let's keep in mind everything
we've learned so far. The eyes of the Lord run to and fro in
the whole earth, beholding the evil and the good. The eyes of
the Lord are those things that run to and fro. They go here
and there, and they're searching, but they also are there to show
himself, okay? They are lamps, we saw that.
These are those seven, which run to and fro. Revelation chapter
one, look at verse four. John, to the seven churches which
are in Asia, grace be unto you and peace from him which is,
and which was, and which is to come, and from the seven spirits
which are before his throne. Now we find seven spirits again.
Seven spirits, that's a capital S spirit though. A rule in your
King James Bible that you can apply, and you'll find this throughout,
is where you find a capital S spirit. It is one of the three of the
Godhead, either the Father, the Son, or the Holy Ghost. And those
spirits are working spiritually in or through someone. Okay? Not every capital S Spirit in
your Bible is that third person of the Trinity. We've looked
at that. So many times you see the Spirit of Christ, and it's
a capital S, but it says the Spirit of Christ. Other times
it says the Spirit of the Father. Okay? Then there are other times
where it talks of the Spirit, and you can clearly see that
it's the Holy Ghost in that place. But you can't put a blanket statement
and just say every capital S Spirit is the Holy Spirit. It doesn't
work. It doesn't work if you believe
your Bible. Okay, what God has done is he's given us a Bible
so clear and so precise that we can dissect the Godhead. We
can literally divide asunder soul and spirit. And we can see
the discerning of the hearts, the intents of the heart, the
thoughts and the intents of the heart in ourselves, but also
in the Godhead. We went to 1 Corinthians 13,
when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall
be done away. It says for we prophesy in part,
we know in part, He says, for now we see through a glass darkly,
but then face to face. For now we know in part, but
then shall we know even as also we are known. How does God know
you? He knows everything about you.
He knows every secret of your heart. He knows every thought
that you have. He knows every intent that your thought has.
He knows everything about you on the inward parts, on the outward
parts. He knows everything. Why? Because his eyes go to and
fro throughout the whole earth, beholding the evil and the good.
So, there's coming a day where we will be able to know God exactly
as we are known. What day is that when that which
is perfect is come? Now, when is that day? Is that speaking of the day of
Jesus Christ? Well, no, because he's already
come. That's speaking of when there's
going to be the fullness of a book. It's gonna be together as a volume.
And it's gonna have everything together in such a way that you
can dissect the Godhead and to know him exactly as you are known. To know him intimately on the
inward parts. To know how he thinks. To know what his spirit
is. To know which spirit is his and
which is his and which is his. To know what each person of the
Godhead does. To know how they wrought salvation
in you. What part did the Father have
to play in your salvation? I might have to preach on those
things. What part did the Father have to play in your salvation?
What part did the Holy Ghost have to play in your salvation?
What part did the Word of God, Jesus Christ, the Son of God,
have to play in your salvation? Each one had something differently
and all of them work together. And salvation is wrought in a
person by those things. And we have a Bible that will
allow us to do that if you take it exactly as it is written. And let God build precept upon
precept, line upon line, here a little and there a little.
And so we see here, these seven spirits which are before his
throne. Now where else do we see that? Let's go to chapter
four in Revelation. Revelation chapter four. Hmm. Yeah, let's start at verse one.
After this, I looked, and behold, a door was opened in heaven,
and the first voice which I heard was, as it were, of a trumpet
talking with me, which said, come up hither, and I will show
thee things which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the
Spirit, and behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat
on the throne. And he that sat was to look upon
like a jasper and a sardine stone. And there was a rainbow round
about the throne in sight like unto an emerald." By the way,
do you know why that rainbow's there around his throne continually?
Genesis tells you. So he'd remember his covenant.
Folks, we don't have to wait for a rainbow to appear in the
cloud for God to remember His covenant that He's not gonna
destroy the earth with a flood again. It's there all the time. I just think that's good. Verse
four. And round about the throne were
four and twenty seats. And upon the seats I saw four
and twenty elders sitting, clothed in white raiment, and they had
on their heads crowns of gold. And out of the throne proceeded
lightnings and thunderings and voices. And there were seven
lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven
spirits of God." Now we just read that in chapter one. Here
we see it again. And now who is this one that
is on the throne? This is Jesus Christ. This is
the Lord of hosts. This is Jehovah God. And those
seven spirits are before his throne and they are depicted
as seven lamps of fire burning. Now, if you wanna know where
the fire comes from for eternal fire that was there on that altar
in heaven and all of this, it's all the same fire. Can you imagine that? If we could
just plug that in for just a second, that eternal fire that the Lord
sent from the Lord out of heaven destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah
and the other cities of the plain. There were four cities altogether. Zoar was one of them and he ended
up eventually destroying that one, but I can't remember the
other city of the plain, regardless. Let's just plug this in there
for a second. If those lamps burning are the eyes of the Lord
and they are the spirit of the Lord, seven spirits of the Lord
burning before his throne, and that's where that fire came from
that consumed Sodom and Gomorrah, just imagine the searching of
the heart and the searching that those eyes do as they go to and
fro in this earth. Imagine the destruction that
those eyes are capable of committing. And we don't think anything of
it. If that's where that fire came
from, that came down from heaven, and it's the eyes of the Lord
searching, there's only one good reason
as to why God hasn't done the same to America as He searches
it. Mercy. The long-suffering of the Lord
is salvation. There's only one reason why he hasn't destroyed
your house, and I'm not talking about the building. I'm talking
about your family. It's his mercy. What a great grace his mercy
is unto us. Now let's look at this. Chapter
five again, or four, verse five. Out of the throne proceeded lightnings
and thunderings and voices, and there were seven lamps of fire
burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God.
Now, let's go over to Daniel chapter 10. Daniel 10. Oh, I think I want to be, yeah. We just saw this description. Look at verse five. Then I lifted up mine eyes and
looked, and behold, a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins
were girded with fine gold of Uphaz. His body was like the
barrel, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as
lance of fire, and his arms and his feet like in color to polish
brass. The voice of his words were like
the voice of a multitude. We just saw a description of
Jesus Christ. It's the same description you
saw in Revelation chapter four. It's the same one. And those eyes are his lamps
of fire. And they're searching. They're
going to and fro in this earth. Now I want you to go back to
Revelation, I wanna look at chapter five. Start at verse one. And I saw
in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written
within, and on the backside sealed with seven seals. And I saw a
strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, who is worthy to
open the book and to loose the seals thereof. And no man in
heaven nor in earth, neither under the earth, which is an
interesting statement, was able to open the book, neither to
look thereon. And I wept much because no man
was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to
look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, weep not,
behold, the line of the tribe of Judah. The root of David hath
prevailed to open the book and to loose the seven seals thereof.
I beheld in low in the midst of the throne and of the four
beasts, and in the midst of the elders stood a lamb as it had
been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes. which are the
seven spirits of God sent forth into all the earth." It's the eyes of Jesus. Jesus Christ is that lamb. What
did God tell Abraham? Isaac asked Abraham, his father,
he said, father, look, here's the wood and the fire, but where's
the burnt offering? And he said, my son, God shall
provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering. It does not say provide
for himself. It says he shall provide himself
a lamb for a burnt offering. The lamb of God made that burnt
offering for me. When thou shalt make his soul
an offering for sin. Isaiah 53. You did it. Thou, thyself. And that sin offering is a burnt
offering. According to the law of God,
and I'm pretty sure Jesus Christ was gonna die lawfully. Pretty
sure God was gonna keep his law in the sacrificing of his son. And the eyes of that one burn
as lamps. What did those on the road to
Emmaus say about it after Jesus revealed himself? Did our hearts
burn within us? Why did they burn? Because those
seven eyes were in their hearts searching him. Searching, going
to and fro to show himself. Guarantee you could never convince
those disciples that Jesus Christ never rose from the dead. There's
not a bit of evidence, even if you were able to provide an actual
physical body, they still wouldn't believe it. Why? Because Jesus
Christ himself revealed himself to them. He burned within them. Burned within them. Listen, when
man teaches you something, you can unlearn it. But when God
himself gets in the corners of your heart and he takes this
book and he burns it in you, there's nothing that's gonna
convince you otherwise. Jesus Christ is the son of God.
Do you know how I know that? Because the eyes of his dear
son, Jesus Christ himself, the eyes of God, sought me. They went to and fro on all the
earth and they buried deep in my heart. They burned within
me to the point where I can't unbelieve it. You know, I'll
never see Psalm 23 the same again. I'll never see Psalm 16 the same
again. I'll never even seen Psalm 51 the same again. Psalm 88,
Psalm 18, Psalm 116, Psalm 22, Psalm 2, Psalm 8, Psalm 9, Psalm
10. I'll never see any of these,
Psalm 21. Psalm 25. I'll never see these
the same again. Do you know why? Because Jesus
took his eyes and he turned up, the Holy Ghost turned up that
flame. He burned it in my heart. And I can't unsee it. That's
my suffering Savior. That's Jesus Christ in the volume
of the book. Oh, lest I forget Psalm 40. And then you start seeing Him
everywhere. Isaiah 6, Genesis 3. Hallelujah, what a Savior. Now,
I said I wanted to go to something, and this is precious to me. Go back to Zechariah 4. I don't
know if he kept a place there. If not, that's fine. This isn't going to take long. Zechariah chapter 4, right at
the end, verse 11. He says, these are the eyes of
the Lord which run to and fro through the whole earth. Verse
11, then answered I and said unto him, what are these two
olive trees upon the right side of the candlestick and upon the
left side thereof? Remember those olive trees? What
are these two olive trees, he says. And I answered again and
said unto him, what be these two olive branches which through
the two golden pipes empty the golden oil out of themselves?
And he answered me and said, knowest thou not what these be?
And I said, no, my Lord. He said, then said he, these
are the two anointed ones that stand by the Lord of the whole
earth. Now that may not hit you yet,
but it's about to. Go to Revelation chapter 11.
Keep your place here. Go to Revelation chapter 11.
I want you to look at verse three. Revelation 11 and three. I will
give power unto my two witnesses. And they shall prophesy a thousand,
two hundred, and threescore days clothed in sackcloth. These are
the two olive trees. And the two candlesticks standing
before the God of the earth. And if any man will hurt them,
fire proceedeth out of their mouth and devoureth their enemies.
If any man will hurt them, he must in this manner be killed.
These, now this is interesting. These have power to shut heaven,
that it rain not in the days of their prophecy, and have power
over waters to turn them to blood and to smite the earth with all
plagues as often as they will. Now, who are these two witnesses? Who are these anointed ones?
And more importantly, what do they represent? These are two witnesses, because
at the mouth of two or three witnesses, a matter is established. At the mouth of two witnesses,
a man was to be killed. What two witnesses are these?
These are these two witnesses that everyone says, oh, you can't
know who they are. There's no way of knowing who they are.
I'm sorry. In 1 King 17, Elijah had the power to pray and it
rained not in the days of his prophecy. If you're wondering
on that, James chapter five. I can just, I'll read it to you
just real quick. It's very, very simple. Verse 17, that's where it's at,
not verse seven. Elias was a man subject to like passions as we
are, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain. And it
rained not on the earth by the space of three years and six
months. And you go to 1 Kings chapter 17, and that Elias that
prayed is Elijah. So one prophet that is gonna
walk this earth again during that time of tribulation is Elijah.
It's one witness. Who's the other witness? Well,
to have power over waters to turn them to blood, to smite
the earth with all plagues as often as they will. Who had that
power? Moses. So what's the importance
of that? What's the doctrine? Why Elijah
and Moses? Well, because you have the law
in Moses, and you have the prophets in Elijah. Always the two witnesses
bearing witness that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. In the volume of the book, those two olive trees, that oil
pouring into that candlestick, the Holy Ghost of God turning
up the lamps so that you, you, could see Jesus Christ in his
fullness. Why do you wanna take that away
by making your Bible easier to read? Why not just let it be line upon
line, precept upon precept, here a little, there a little? Why
don't you let it snare you and take you Make you fall backward. Why don't you let it humble you
before holy God? Why don't you let it search you
on the inward parts and let it burn within you and show you
that secret of your heart that you didn't want anybody to know? Why don't you let it have salvation
wrought in you? It's this laws and the prophets.
Modern Christianity wants to cut out. We don't need it anymore. It's
just allegory anyway. Not according to the words of
Jesus Christ himself. But when you take it for exactly
as it's written, and you take it in the English that God gave
it to you, you with the Bible sitting, the King James Bible
sitting in your hand, read it in that English and follow those
words throughout and believe that there's authority in those
words. I'm not diminishing the authority
of Hebrew, Greek and Aramaic. I'm not diminishing that authority
whatsoever, but God gave it to you in English because that's
what your heart speaks. God will always deal with you in your
native tongue. Follow that throughout. All we
did was follow a few verses here. Maybe we have 10, but what did
we see? Saw the eyes of the Lord going
to and fro on all the earth. Saw that the eyes of the Lord
are those seven spirits of God. We saw that the eyes of the Lord
are those lamps burning to show himself. We saw that those lamps
burning within leave an indelible mark upon you. We saw that what was pouring
oil into those two lamps so that you could see Jesus Christ as
the law and the prophets. and the things that God gave
you so that you would have two witnesses to prove to you that
Jesus Christ is the son of God. Preachers tell you you don't
need that. Why? Why would God tell you you don't
need the thing that he gave so that you could know Jesus Christ
in his fullness? So we study the eyes and the
spirit. Now, in connection with what
I opened up with this morning, the eyes and the spirit are connected
throughout this thing. Eyes can see. So what do we learn
about a spirit? They see. It searches. God tells you to search. What's
he telling you to do? Take your spirit, which is the
candle of the Lord. Let him walk with you in the
dark corridors of your heart, and to show you all the inward
parts of the belly. Let him make manifest the secrets of your
heart to you. Let him give you repentance to the acknowledging
of the truth. And then let him lead you in the way everlasting. There, and I think we're done.
