2Samuel 18, Absalom’s Death & David’s Sorrow

Absalom's insurrection against his father and king reaches a fever pitch. David fled to Mahanaim in Gilead, and Absalom has also come into Gilead after him. But the battle takes place in the heartland of Israel, the forested areas of Ephraim. It's a major conflict in which David instructs his three military leaders to be sure to spare the life of Absalom. But when report is received that Absalom has been slain, David is overwhelmed with sorrow.
