His business is doing signboards
and all those things among buildings. And I am able to see a lot of
signboards here in Missouri. And you know, today times, signs
of times are appearing. The war in Ukraine and Russia. The war in Israel and Hamas. The possible war between the
Philippines and China and Taiwan. It's pointing to that possible
time that Jesus will come back. And that's the reason why when
I look at it, I believe that we Christians should be serious
about what we are doing. We should be serious about the
Great Commission. We should be serious about what
Jesus is telling us, to be able to go and preach the gospel. In the book of Matthew, chapter
28, Jesus said, all power is given unto me in heaven and earth.
Go ye therefore and preach the gospel. to all nations, baptizing
them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy
Spirit, teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have
commanded you, and lo, I am with you always, till the end of the
world." The only thing that I am able to brag as a missionary
is that God has always been there. He never leave us nor forsake
us. And that's the reason why we
have to realize that we who are Christians, and I believe that
a lot of Christians here are really having that particular
heart to be able to tell the gospel. But I will tell you,
others will not listen to us. Others will not really go into
the right path if they are not able to see it in our life. Christians,
we have to be an example. Churches should be an example. Because if we declare that we
are Christian, we are open Bible. I was able to hear about a message
preached by an American, actually. He was actually a PWD. And he was preaching and said,
you are the last Bible that a person can see. We are open Bibles. And people are looking at us.
And that's the reason why I am very careful of my life because,
you know, others are looking at me. I want them to see that
Jesus is in me. And I was glad that Pastor was
telling us about he was making billboards around having this
beautiful painting, etc. He is involved in that. And I
believe that there is a relationship or a parallelism between a billboard
and a Christian. Because I tell you, a billboard
advertises. And we, Christian, also advertise
Jesus Christ. No, I am not really interested
about billboard, but I am interested about what we can be able to
do as Christians. Because I believe that we are
also billboards. So, tonight, I preach about your
business. I will preach about billboard
Christian. Number one, a billboard is unashamed. A billboard is
unashamed. Billboard standard unabased,
unashamed, bold face. For example, Pepsi, the choice
of the new generation. I don't believe it because I
like Coca-Cola. Nike. Just do it. I tried to wear a
Nike and try to run. With my age, 70 years old, I
cannot run one kilometer. Just do it. No, you cannot do
it. Adidas says everything is possible, but it's not true.
Even if you wear Adidas, it's not possible. But they are not
ashamed of what they are proclaiming. But we Christian, we know our
doctrine. We know who we believe. And we
should not be ashamed also about what we believe. We must be billboard.
We must also be unashamed. We must live it unashamed. We
must chew it unashamed. We must talk it unashamed. We must walk it unashamed. We
must share it unashamed. However, you know, many opportunities
have been given to a lot of Christians, but instead of doing the great
commission, they do the great omission. They omit. You know, in a church like this,
you have the chances to be able to support missionaries. You
have the chances to be able to support the work of God. You
have the chances to be able to proclaim the gospel, but sometimes
we take it for granted. But I tell you, many people are
doing a lot of wrong things, bad things. There are a lot of
false prophets, false religions, but they are not ashamed. They
are still doing the things that are not supposed to be done.
They don't hide. They continue to advertise and claim what they
proclaim. And as a result, a lot of people
believe them more than they believe us. It's high time that we should
not be ashamed. Look what the Bible says, Mark
8, verse 38. It says, whoever or whosoever
therefore shall be ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous
and sinful generation, of him also shall the Son of Man be
ashamed when he cometh in the glory of his Father with the
holy angels. I'm afraid that Jesus Christ
will be ashamed of me. Can you imagine if Jesus will
be ashamed of me? And that's the reason why even
in my old age, I am saying to Jesus Christ, Lord, here am I. Until the time that I will die,
I will continue to serve you. Because you were crucified. I will not allow that thing to
make myself be ashamed of Jesus Christ. 2 Timothy 1, verse 8,
Not of his prisoner, but be thou partakers of the afflictions
of the gospel according to the power of God. We can only
partake the afflictions according to the power of God. In second
year pastor that I was there in Congo, I love my wife so much. She was my girlfriend for 10
years. She waited for me so that I can be able to finish medicine. She worked with me as a pastor
and everything, and even when I went there to become a missionary,
we forgo our good life so that we can be able to go to Congo,
Africa. She got sick in Congo, sick unto death. She had severe
abdominal pain during that time. When I look at her, I just wanted
to say to God, Lord, please give the sickness of my wife to me,
but I did not pray. That way, because if God will
give it to me, and I will not be able to take it because, you
know, we men have a higher pain threshold than men. And I know
my pain threshold, so I did not really pray. I was afraid that
God will give it to me. But on the fourth day, my wife
was already yellowish. And then she had fever, and I
know that She was almost dying. I brought my wife to the 70 Adventist
Hospital, a very small hospital. They have an ultrasound machine,
no ultrasonologist. I was the one doing the ultrasound.
Then I saw that there were a lot of gallbladder stones, and she
need emergency cholecystectomy. That means to say, I have to
remove the gallbladder. But who will be the surgeon?
As there were no surgeons there. I did surgery to my wife. Emergency
surgery. I cannot be able to bring my
wife back because if to do that, I will hire an airplane. And
I did not have that money. I did not deputate. I did not
have a good support. And you know what? during the
time that I operated on my wife because I have not been able
to do operations anymore like that for a very long time because
I was concentrating on head and neck. I have to cut my wife with
a big scar, like this, so that I can be able to see the liver.
At the back of the liver is the gallbladder. So when I incise
the skin of my wife, tears also. fluid from my eyes. It's not
easy. And I complained to God, Lord,
I am cutting the flesh of my flesh. And I started to blame God. But
at the back of my mind, God was saying to me that, don't you
know that I was also cut at that area? And I told God, you know,
Lord, when I was a doctor, Since I was the head of the department,
doctors were following me, and God was saying to me, don't you
know that in heaven, the angels are following me? And you know,
I said to God, Lord, I cannot say anymore, because I know that
you have done everything for us, but if my wife dies, please
kill me also. I tried to avoid to wait the
operating area because my tears were really flowing. And when
I was able to remove the gallbladder, I told the Congolese assistant,
please suture it layer by layer. And I ran because I cannot hold
on. And I really cried, I really
cried. And when I came back, the anesthetist
told me, doctor, the blood pressure of your wife is zero. The heart
rate is 126. And when it happens, that means
to say that my wife is dying. So I called some of my friends
who are surgeons and they said to me that, you buy dopamine,
give to your wife so that the blood pressure will increase.
The whole Lubumbashi, no dopamine. So I called the university. They
sent me a cardiologist fresh from Belgium, a handsome man,
tall guy. He come in my wife, take the
central venous pressure, take all the test, and he look at
me. You know, I'm short, tall, looking
like that. Sir, your wife is in a grave
danger. She is dying. If I give this
drug, the heart rate will increase, your wife will die. If I will
not give the drug, the blood pressure is already zero, your
wife will die." And then he said, I can understand your situation
because my wife also died. Very encouraging because the
wife died. He wanted also my wife to die. But he looks at me and said,
You are a man of God. It's as if ridiculing being a
man of God, you can pray. Then I look at him and I knelt
down immediately. And I said, Lord, I am nobody. I am just merely a sinner saved
by grace. Don't do anything for us and
for my wife because we are nobody. But this man says that I am a
man of God. He is not looking at me, he is
looking at you. Do something for your glory and
your glory alone. If you do something, it's for
your glory. Do something for my wife, for your glory and your
glory alone. And then that man probably was
embarrassed. That doctor said, I will come
back tomorrow nine o'clock thinking that my wife will die. My wife
was cold and clammy and I embraced my wife and I recited Psalms
23. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He make it
me to lie down in green pastures. He leaded me beside the still
waters. He restored my soul. He leaded me unto the path of
righteousness for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through
the valleys of the shadows of death, I shall feel no evil because
thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff, they comfort
me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies. Thou anointest my head with oil,
my cup runneth over. Surely, goodness and mercy shall
follow me all the days of my life. and I shall dwell in the
house of the Lord forever. Several times I recited it until
I become very, very tired and I sang Amazing Grace. Amazing
grace, how sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me. The peace that passed all understanding
came upon me. God made me to sleep. But six
o'clock early morning, somebody was tapping me on my shoulder.
Pa, pa, I'm hungry. If there is somebody that is
hungry, that means to say that she's not dead. When I was lying,
my wife was already sitting. She was looking at me. And when
I was able to see, I became a Pentecostal. Praise the Lord! Took the blood
pressure, 120 over 70. Heart rate, 80. I was really, really almost dancing
and happy. And 9 o'clock. that doctor, cardiologist
came. But he was not immediately able
to enter the room because when he was able to see that my wife
was sick, he said, miracle. Took the blood pressure. I presented to him the gospel.
He received Jesus Christ as Lord, Savior of his life. He became
member of my church. And as a result, The English
service of our church is already pastored by a doctor. We have
plenty of disciples that are doctor. Great problem, great
miracles. 1 Peter 4, verse 16, Yet if any
man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him
glorify God on his behalf. My friends, brothers, and sisters,
we billboards should seek to call attention to our product,
and our product is Jesus Christ, the Gospel. Number two, billboard
speaks for its owner. For example, Mitsubishi versus
Toyota. You cannot drive a Mitsubishi and you are working in Toyota.
Cannot be. You have to really speak for
your product. When you see a billboard, there
is no guessing who bought it and whom it represents. That's
the reason why when people will see us, they should see that
we are poor Jesus Christ. Look at 1 Corinthians 6, verse
20. We are bought with a price, therefore
glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's. Romans 12, verse 1. He says,
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, only by
the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living
sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your reasonable
service. Be ye not conformed to this word, but be ye transformed
by the renewing of your mind so that you will know what is
that good, acceptable, and perfect will of God in your life. A message
about Jesus must be clear And that's the reason why let us
speak God's Word undistorted, unaltered. We must be very clear
with our message. And when Jesus said, we must
be clear about that. Number three, a billboard is
faithful to its purpose. What's our purpose? As Christians,
we should be committed and faithful to God's great commission. Faithful
in tithes and offerings. Faithful to God in attending
services. Faithful to God in doing visitation.
Faithful to God in mission giving. Because that's what God wants
us to do. 2 Corinthians 5, verse 20, now then we are ambassadors
for Christ. There is a great job that is
given to us, and that is we are ambassadors. And as ambassadors,
we represent the kingdom of heaven. And as representative of the
kingdom of heaven, we should be able to do these things. I
have been in many, many churches in Philippines, and you know,
sometimes they take for granted being saved. They take for granted
because, you know, salvation is free. But they did not know. that that particular salvation
was being paid for by Jesus Christ. 1 John 2 verse 1, My little children,
write I unto you that you sin not. But if you sin, you have
an advocate with the Father. He is Jesus Christ the righteous.
He is the propitiation or the payment of your sins. And not
abuse only, but for the sins of the whole world. That means
to say that Jesus paid for our sins. And that's the reason why
every time that I am teaching to my Bible students, I said,
don't ever, ever put your salvation in question. Because you know,
Jesus Christ paid for your salvation. Sometimes we take it for granted.
When I started my Bible college, it's for free, everything free.
But because it's free, they take it for granted. Sometimes they
are absent. And I said, from now on, nothing
is free. When you come, you have to pay
five dollars. Otherwise, even if I have only
one or two students, it's okay. And our school is accredited
by the government. When they started to pay, nobody
is absent. Sometimes we are just merely
taking for granted the salvation that is given to us. Number four,
a billboard stands in all sorts of weather. Rain or shine, it
won't look for shelter. I have never seen a billboard
have an umbrella. So that means to say Christians
ought to stand for Jesus, rain or shine. in good or bad weather,
and by chance if we fall, I know that Jesus Christ will pick us
up. You know, I have seen a lot of problems in Congo, Africa.
Satan may try to defeat us, put shame on us, put doubt, fear,
even discourage us from the purpose that God is calling us, but the
Bible says in 1 John 4, verse 4, greater is he that is in you.
than that is in the world, and I believe it. I have never seen
a problem in my life when we were in Congo, Africa, that God
did not solve. Trials and tribulations may try
to undermine us, but the Bible says in 1 John 16, verse 33,
these things have I spoken unto you, that in me you have peace. In the world you shall have tribulation,
but be of good cheer. I have overcome the world. I
believe in Jesus Christ. And lastly, I will close with
this story. Probably it is an imagination
or an imaginative story, but it happened during the Boxer's
Rebellion in China. wherein the Chinese were imbedded
by a lot of foreigners to do business, and even missionaries
went to China, and many Chinese got saved because of the witnesses
of the missionaries. And in one of the Christian gatherings
in a certain school, just like this, the rebels went inside. bringing weapons, machete, sword,
etc. And the leader was bringing a
big cross. And imagine that this is now
the meeting. And the leader, the rebel leader,
probably look at me as the rebel leader, I was bringing a cross.
And he said, today, all of you will die. Unless, you will renounce
your faith. You will come to the front and
spit on the cross and say that I am not a Christian and I will
let you live. There was silence in the room. They were looking at each other
and I believe that they were afraid. Even myself, if I am
there, I will be afraid. Three men. came to the front,
spit on the cross, went out alive. Then people were looking at each
other. Two women came to the front,
spit on the cross, went out alive. And here, a child, 11-year-old
girl, stood. And the leader, the rebel leader
was smiling. You see, a child will spit on
the cross, even a child. And the child slowly walked to
the front. But when he was near the cross,
immediately hugged the cross and cried. And said, how can
I be able to spit on Jesus Christ? I am saved. Jesus Christ loves me. I can
never do this. I love Jesus Christ. And she
cried, she cried. And the leader was angry and
hugged the child and the head of the child, separated from
the body. But when it happened, all the
people stood up. came to the front, kneel down,
was just merely waiting that they will be hugged. But the
leader said, what kind of faith do you have that you are not
afraid to die? Who is Jesus Christ? Tell me
about Jesus. And they told him about Jesus,
and he received Jesus Christ as Lord, Savior of his life.
just merely because of that little girl who really represent as
a billboard Christian. How about us? Are we billboard
Christians? Can we really represent Jesus
Christ? Can we really advertise Jesus Christ? Can we really promote
the gospel? I pray to God, and this is my
prayer. allow that my grandchildren will
really have the fear of the Lord. And this is my prayer, pastor.
Please, I have two grandchildren that are boys. Let these boys
become a pastor. And that's only my prayer. I
don't care whether they will become doctor or what. I want
them to become a pastor because everything is temporary as far
as we are concerned. Let us be billboard Christians.
Let us pray. Lord, I preach your word. And the reason why I continue
to become a missionary, because I fear you, I respect you. I
have that awesomeness. You have that awesomeness, Lord,
in my life. Lord, teach us. Teach us really
to fear you, to continue. to be able to represent you,
even in Congo, Africa, and all other areas in Africa, and even
throughout the whole world. Thank you for this church. Thank
you for Pastor Derek and his family. Thank you for all the
members of the church. Thank you for the opportunity
given to us. In Jesus' name I pray, amen and amen. Amen. Why don't we stand tonight?
The piano is going to play. We have time of invitation. However,
the Lord has spoken to you tonight. Are you a billboard Christian?
Are you a billboard Christian? Not ashamed. Are you advertising
for your owner? Can I remember you've been bought
with a price, but the blood, precious blood of Jesus, the
Bible says you don't belong to yourself. I don't belong to me
anymore. I belong to him. Yeah. Are you faithful? Do you stand in all sorts of
weather? I'm so thankful there are some that are going through
some deep, deep valleys. They're going through deep valleys
and I'm so thankful. People are watching you stand.
People are watching you grow close to the Lord in the valleys
that you're going through. Don't ever think, don't ever
think that the way you're advertising the Lord Jesus is being missed.
It is not at all. Yet some people, the littlest
bit of problem that comes along, and they're away from the Lord.
Tiniest little thing, they're out of church. Little bitty skirmish
comes up and you can't find them for a while. I'm so thankful
for those that just stand in all sorts of weather. Yeah. May God help us. where he's planted us. He's planted
Brother Felicidad in the Congo, but he's planted you and I here
in Nixon, Missouri. There's the same need here as
is in Congo, as is in the Philippines, as is in every part of the world. The need is the same. There's
a lost world that needs the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. And
he's planted you here, Christian. Right? Listen, we're not a Catholic
church, and I'm not a pope, and I don't have my religious thing,
and you don't have your laity thing. We are all disciples of
the Lord Jesus Christ. We've all been called to be ambassadors
of Christ. We all have a job to do where
we've been planted.
