And if you don't mind, keep it open there and we're going to look at this chapter. I know usually I just take a verse and take a fit, but let's look at this chapter here tonight. And I love this chapter in the word of God. There's something about me that has stayed militant. Amen. I'm not, I'm not given into this wimpy type sissy pipe world that we live in. Amen. And I like blood and guts and fighting. Amen, I'm not watching a movie unless somebody dies in it. Amen, somebody gets shot with a six shooter or something, a shootout, something happens. But this Bible, I'm telling you, is full of wars and people fighting. Amen, even the life we're living now for the Lord's supposed to be a fight. Amen, it shouldn't be a fight to get you to church. You ought to fight for the Lord, amen. But if you'll look in 1 Samuel chapter 14, and we'll look down through here, I love these stories in the Bible. I was preaching one time about David and Goliath, and I was in a church in Chicago, and y'all believe it or not, there's people saved up there too. And a guy come to me after I got done preaching, he says, you offended me tonight. Now, I don't know what you say to that. I went, oh, come here. I don't know what to say to that. I said, what do you mean, buddy? He said, well, I don't understand. Are you advocating violence? I said, buddy, how much more violent can you get than to run across the field with a rock and a sling and sling it into a guy's head where the rock sunks in your head and then jump on top of him and hack his head off with a sword and then carry the head around with you? It don't get any more violent than that. Amen. But here's one of these chapters. And the Bible says in verse number one, now it came to pass upon a day that Jonathan, the son of Saul, said to the young man that bears armor, come and let us go over to the Philistines garrison. That is on the other side, but he told not his father. So here's these two fellas and they're going to go to the Philistines garrison. And that's a, that's a gaggle of them. Amen, so two of them's gonna go try them out. And instead of reading everything through here, they go over between these two rocks. And if you see in verse number four, it says, between the passages by which Jonathan sought to go over to the Philistines garrison, there was a sharp rock on the one side and a sharp rock on the other side. God wrote down and said, when you're between a rock and a hard place, amen, you better get right with God. And they're between this place. And you know, in World War I, when the British were fighting the Turks, there was one of the generals that was reading and found this place in the Bible called Michmash. And somebody told him, said, we're at Michmash now. The Bible, Michmash. So they found those two rocks. So it's a real place. And it helped them defeat the Turks that day. Amen. But look at verse number six. And Jonathan said to the young man that bear his armor, come and let us go over under the garrison of these uncircumcised. Now, when anybody's got a sword or a sledgehammer or a spear and they call somebody uncircumcised, something bad's about to happen. Amen. Somebody's fixing to get killed. And that's what's getting ready to happen here. And he says here, he says, the garrison is uncircumcised. Then it says, it may be the Lord will work for us. Now that's my whole message here tonight. He says, it may be that the Lord will work for us. Well, if I'm reading that right, it may be, then he won't. Amen. But listen, that didn't stop him. So they went on anyhow. And I'm going to tell you, God honors that type of faith. Some people won't do nothing until they feel like the Lord tells them, well, they didn't wait. They didn't go to the priest or anything else. They just said, hey, it may be the Lord will work for us. Because I like what he says, for there is no restraint of the Lord to say by many or by few. Amen. We want revival in America. Well, it might start here, this church right here. It may be the Lord will use this church. It may be he'll use you, young man. Amen. You say, well, I don't know. He may not. Yeah, you're right. But if you step out and try to do something for God, I'm going to guarantee you things, business will pick up. And the Bible said in verse number seven, and his armor bearer said unto him, do all that is in thine heart, turn thee, behold, I'm with thee according to thy heart. I always say he went like this. All right. All right. That sounds nuts enough. Let's go ahead and do it. Amen. So they go up this garrison and they're by theirself. And he says, it may be the Lord of workforce. And look at verse number 12, or look at verse number 11. And both of them discovered themselves under the garrison of the Philistines. And the Philistines said, behold, the Hebrews come forth out of the holes where they had hid themselves. Bad thing to say. That ticked them off. Amen. They already had a resolve, and now they're being catcalled a little bit. Amen. And then it says in verse 12, and the men of the garrison answered Jonathan and his arbearers said, come up to us and we will show you a thing. And Jonathan said unto Zarephath, come up after me, for the Lord hath delivered them into the hand of Israel. I like his style, don't you? It's just the two of them. Amen, they shouldn't have ran their mouth, what they shouldn't have done. It said, and Jonathan climbed upon his hands and upon his feet, and Zarephath after him, and they fell before Jonathan, and Zarephath slew after him. And the first slaughter which Jonathan and his armor bearer made was about 20 men. Wow. Amen. Arms and legs and heads laying everywhere. Amen. I mean, could you imagine two fellas going out and fighting 20 soldiers? There's a movie for you right there. Amen. It says, Arbarame was about 20 men within, as it were, a half acre of land, which a yoke of oxen might plow. Now here's when things start to pick up. And there was a trembling, there was trembling in the host, in the field, and among all the people, the garrison and the spoilers, they also trembled. And the earth quaked. So it was a very great trembling. I'm telling you, God moved in then. God took ahold of the earth and went, amen. And buddy of theirs, amen, things started happening. You say, why? Because he said, it may be the Lord will work for us. Amen. I wouldn't, man, I travel around the country and travel around, try to preach anywhere they'll let me. And I just believe God ain't done with America. Amen, I believe we ought to still, the old-fashioned way, the old-time way, I believe we ought to fling her down again. Amen, it may be the Lord will work for us. Amen, it may be we'll see them old-time revivals like they used to have. It may be the Lord will stir this church up and send you the right man and all that. It may be He will. But if you keep that kind of attitude, God might come shake this place around a little bit. Amen, and I don't know a whole lot, but I think we can use a little shakin', don't you? Amen. And the Bible says, verse number 16, And the watchman of Saul and Gibeah Benjamin looked, and behold, the multitude melted away, and they went on beating down one another. These two fellas, man, does that do anything for you? That excites me, amen. These two guys go out, step on a limb, God meets with them there, shakes the earth, tremble, and they start fleeing, the whole army does. Amen, I like it. The Bible said in verse number 18, and Saul said unto Ahai, bring here the ark of God, for the ark of God was at that time with the children of Israel, and it came to pass while Saul talked unto the priest that the noise that was in the host of the Philistines went on and increased. And Saul said unto the priest, withdraw thine hand. There wasn't no need to go to the priest. There wasn't no need to go to the Ark of the Covenant and all and say, God, should we go after them? No, they're running. Go get them. Amen. Sometimes you don't have to pray about something. Just do it. Amen. Sometimes, I don't know, God gets tribute for a lot of things he ain't got no business with. I've heard people say, well, God told me. Really? I ain't heard God ever speak in an audible voice to me. You have? I don't know. I think you ate pizza before you went to bed is what happened to you. Amen. About everything I do is by faith. Ain't you that way? Amen. And the Bible says in verse number 20, and Saul and all the people that were with him assembled themselves and they came to the battle and behold, every man's sword was against his fellow. And there was a very great discomfiture. I like that. Say what's discomfiture. I don't know, but I wouldn't want to be killed with one. Do you see old Jordan? He about got his head took off with the discomfiture. And I'm telling you what, folks, if nothing else, that word right there, we've gotten too comfortable. Somebody needs to start the battle. How about some of you young men? How about some of you? It may be the Lord will use you. Why don't you surrender to God and see what he does? That's what we did. Man, we started hearing preaching. Preaching started doing something for us. It started running up and down the avenues of our soul. Amen, we believe what the preacher said. We all, man, we went to meetings everywhere, prayed, shouted, ran the aisles, crawled. Brother Lackey's one year, we had chicken fights. We were jumping on each other's shoulders and everything else. I looked over at Dr. Ruckman, standing on his head, clapping his feet. Man, we've come a long way since then. Nowadays, man, alive. But here's this great discomfiture. Look at verse number 21. Moreover, the Hebrews that were with the Philistines, with the Philistines, there was Hebrews that went to the other side. There's some of them around town here. We got them in Pell City. There's boys that went to church with us years ago that came to camp where God moved to camp, like we've seen, and they ain't with us no more. They're with the Philistines now. They're probably Democrats. I wasn't going to talk about politics, so I'll leave that alone. Amen. It says, moreover, the Hebrews were with the Philistines before that time, which went up with them into the camp and the country round about. Even they also turned to be with the Israelites that were with Saul and Jonathan. So all the bunch that had turned tail and joined the enemies, they came back when they seen God move and the battle get in array. Amen. There's people all around town here. I could name some. I could tell you where they used to sit in here. Amen. And they ain't with us no more. That's why we ain't got no business. We ain't got no time to sit around and do nothing. Get with it. Get back in the fight. Amen. If you don't want to amen me, just snarl at me. Either one will help me. Look what it says in verse 22. Likewise, all the men of Israel, which had hid themselves in Mount Ephraim, when they heard that the Philistines fled, even they also followed hard after them in the battle. There's the guys that have hid themselves. There's a bunch of them around. I watch them in the church service. They hide right in here. You make eye contact with them, they're like this, they're kind of watching, you know, when you're preaching, you make eye contact with them, they go, They can sit right here and hide. Amen. I told Brother Chandler, the first time he had Dr. Ruppman come in there in Arkansas, he said, he said, Dr. Ruppman said he's gonna come in down here at my church. I said, don't advertise. He said, what do you mean? I said, you'll have every weirdo within 100 miles come. And he advertised, he said his church was full of people. He said he'd come in here, and he says, wow, look at all the people that showed up. He started asking some of them, where do you live, man? One guy said, Mountain View. That's their little town. If you've ever been there, it's only about 1,500 people. He goes, well, man, where do you go to church? He goes, oh, we don't go to church. We have church at home. Cuckoo, cuckoo. We come to hear Dr. Upman, and he said, well, man, where do you, he brought Jim, so where do you tie that, man? He goes, well, we buy stuff from the bookstore. Nutsburg. Amen. And all them people show up out of nowhere. Amen. I'm like, ma'am, where have you been? How come you ain't with us? Well, you know, that church is, Brother Charlie Andrews, it's a little abrasive. Well, what are you, a little sissified? Amen. This is supposed to be a fight. Amen. So I don't know, maybe the battle started around here, some of you young guys. You guys can hide. You can hide right here in church. Amen. Sound booth is a good place to hide. Anybody back there? Amen. Every church I go to has got a sound booth. I always say, you guys, buddy, you got to be careful back there. I've known them ordering pizza. Amen. You're here, but you're not really part of the service in here. So you got to be careful. Don't hide here with us. Amen. The Bible said here in verse number 23, so the Lord saved Israel that day. Do you see that? Does that do anything else for anybody else in here? Amen, Jonathan said, hey, it may be the Lord will work for us. And he steps out in his armor and goes, all right, I'm with you. And God moves, man, there's an earthquake, the Philistines flee, and the Bible said that the Lord saved Israel that day. So who do you use? Some nobodies and nothings. Amen, I believe America needs to be saved, don't you? Buddy, we're living in a time now that if we ever need a revival, it's now. And if we ever needed a time to say, somebody step up and say, it may be the Lord will work for us. We need it now. The alarm ought to be going off. Amen. You say, man, you're up a heart on these boys. Oh, they've getting a free pass. If we was at camp, amen, we'd pull out all the stops. Amen. But man alive, folks, that's who God uses. God uses young men. Amen. And man, they ought to be on fire for God. As much Bible as you've had around here and as much as God has moved around here, you ain't got no excuse. and you get on fire for God, it may fire up some other people around here. Some of your buddies that's left the church, some of them it's dead as a doornail out there. We got a whole society of kids that have left our churches, and now they got little websites, they go on the internet, and they hate our way of life. Amen. I'm sick of that bunch. That's why, man, I don't, I'm again. You know what again means? I am again Facebook. I'm against it. Facebook. Amen. I don't want anything to do with it. You say, well, you're computer retarded. Yeah, you're right, I am. But I don't want nothing to do with it. I see what it does to young people. I don't want no social media, no nothing like that. Amen, amen. And some of you young men sitting in here, you're looking at me like a tree full of owls. You've lost it, you ain't in the fight, you ain't done it. Amen, we need you to get on fire for God. Hoorah. You all still with me? All right, then look what it says in verse 24. And the men of Israel were distressed that day, for Saul had adjured the people, saying, cursed be the man that eateth any food until evening, that I may be avenged on mine enemies. So none of the people tasted any food. What a dumb thing to do. Some of you older fellas in here, any of y'all military men, let me ask you a question. An army travels on its stomach. That's exactly right. And you know what he did? He said, nobody eat anything. That was stupid. Amen. And I'll show you how stupid it was later on here when we get. And the Bible said in verse 25, and all they of the land came to a wood and there was honey upon the ground. Now, this chapter, I love this chapter in the Word of God. First it starts out, two fellows want to go to a garrison and take them on themselves. He says, it may be, Lord, it'll work for us. That means it may be, won't. And his armor bearer says, aye. Then there's an earthquake, and man, I'll tell you, the backslidden bunch come out of the hills and the valleys, and those that had turned tail and run, they came back and got with them, and God saved Israel. So here they come down through there, and God dripped honey on the ground. Now folks, I have been a woodsman all my life. I've lived in the woods, I've hunted, we fished, hunted, I've killed everything that's got hair, everything that's got feathers. I've killed hummingbirds. We've shot everything, BBs, we've killed everything there is to kill with a BB. Then we graduated to 22 rifles. Hey man, we had the little single shot Springfields first, but then we got the Marlin semi-automatics. Man, we were a mechanized war then. We were an army then, buddy. And now we got high powered, I got a 308. I can drive nails with it at 100 yards. We've killed everything there is to kill. And I've seen all that we trap. Me and my brother used to run trap lines before we went to school in the morning. And I have never seen, I've seen honey out in the woods. I've seen the beehives and all that, but I've never just seen it dripping on the ground. God did this. Amen. And the Bible says in verse 26, and when the people were coming to the wood, behold, the honey dropped, but no man put his hand to his mouth for the people feared the oath. But Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people with the oath. I wonder why he didn't hear it. You know why he didn't hear it? He was out killing Philistines. He was dismembering Philistines with a discomfiture. Amen. And he didn't hear. And here's the other message I'm gonna preach to you. Verse 27, and Jonathan heard not when his father charged the people of the oak, wherefore he put forth the end of the rod that was in his hand, and dipped it in the honeycomb, and put his hand to his mouth, and his eyes were enlightened. You see that? He had a rod in his hand, he stopped by, and he goes, man, look here, boys. And he dipped that rod in the honey, and put it there in his mouth, and the Bible said his eyes were enlightened. Said what had happened to him? He got a taste. Now, Brother Charlie, we know, amen, I've known Brother Charlie since 1982. I can be around somebody and tell whether or not they've had a taste or not. Amen, before I was saved, I could always tell somebody liked to get buzzed. I could always tell. I could always tell somebody liked to drink. I always know, I still today know people that like to fight. I pick them out of the room. I size up the crowd every time I go in one. Let's see, if something breaks out in here, who's gonna be the one to give me some problem? Amen. And I can tell, I've been around this long enough, I can tell who's had a taste. How can you tell? It enlightens the eye. Then the Bible said in verse 28, then answered one of the people and said, thy father straightly charged the people with an oat, saying, curse it be the man that eateth any food this day. And the people were faint. But I preach to a lot of faint folks. Amen, I go to a lot of churches where the people are faint. Then said Jonathan, my father had trouble to land. See, I pray you, how mine eyes have been enlightened because I tasted a little of this honey. How much more if happily the people had eaten freely today of the spoil their enemies which they found. For there had not been now a greater slaughter among the Philistines. So here's the little message for you. God always drops a taste at the right time. If you're in the fight, listen, if you stepped out by faith and you try to do anything for God, God, I'm telling you, if he don't do it, how is it gonna get done anyhow? And God moves and God does some things. He has in my life. I could take you over there to 3340 Sprayberry Road where I live and everything you see there on the McGahee Plantation, the double wide that we live in. My wife is the queen of the double wide. Amen, and our three acres and my pickup truck, the little Ford Fusion I bought D, my 97 Softail Custom in the shed there, amen, the little cargo trailer I bought off Jimbo, my ride, my John Deere ride and lawnmower, my weed eater, all the guns I've got in my house, I've got an arsenal in there, all our furniture. Well, I've only got a little spot in our house about the size of this right here. Everything else is D's. I got one little spot that's got guns and swords and switchblade knives and, hey man, turkey feathers and deer antlers hanging up. Well, the rest of it's potpourri. The rest of it's little frilly little candles and little doilies. I told her, I said, none of that stuff makes it. She tries to sneak something in there every once in a while. I'll toss it out in the middle of the floor. No, not in here. But buddy, everything I've got, the Lord's given me. I haven't worked a job in 30 years. The Lord has taken care of me. And we said when we started out, it may be a lot of work for us. I remember when I told my wife, I was called to preach. And I was scared to death to tell her, we're driving down the road, here she is sitting there a little, we were young, she weighed about 100 pounds. I said, what does she weigh now? This is being recorded, I'm not touching that. But I looked over and I said, there's something I need to say. They know when to push buttons. She's like, what? I said, well, I really feel like, I feel like God's calling me to preach. He goes, are you sure? I'm like, well, no. I mean, God didn't tattoo it on me anywhere. I think so. Then I told my mom and dad and they go, are you sure? Everybody I told said that. We just stepped up by faith, and I'm telling you, we heard what the preacher said. He said, if you'll give your life, and you'll tell the Lord, I take my hands off of it, I give it to you, that he'll take it. He's done that, and he'll do it. If he can do that with me, you boys, he can do that with anybody. Amen, as dumb as you are, he could use you. Amen, he enjoys using dumb heads. Boy, that's good preaching if I am doing it right there. Amen. He always drops a taste at the right time. Brother Graham, I'm traveling on taste that I got years ago. I'm still traveling on it. Let me ask you something. When's the last time you had a taste? I haven't had a taste in a long time. Well, why would the Lord give you one? If you ain't in the fight, I always like to do that. I've seen Charlie Tenney do that. It's magic, amen. I'm telling you. Amen. But why would the Lord give you a taste? Why are some of you, boy, ain't no wonder you sitting here dead. You ain't never had a taste. That's right. Why would you get excited? I'm not going to badger you into saying amen. You ain't never had a taste. That's right. Come on, brother. You step out, surrender your life, say all right. Maybe the Lord will use me. He's liable to give you a taste. Then you'll see what the shouting's all about. Old Jordan over here, like I said, he ain't the sharpest knife in the drawer, but he's had a taste. I've seen the Lord do it for him. Amen. You say, well, I don't like him. Well, we don't like you. So there. Amen, we do like him. He's weird, but we like him. Well, why would the Lord give somebody a taste that he won't? But I'm gonna tell you, you surrender your life, you step out by faith, he'll give you a taste. I'll tell you what else it does, it always enlightens the eye. Amen, it'll open your eyes to a lot of things going on around here. Amen, thank God for the taste. And I'll tell you what else it does, it goes against the grain. Not everybody will be excited that you got a taste. Some of you boys, if you got a taste and stepped out, some of the other boys would go, oh, there he goes. Oh, yeah, we'll see how long that lasts. Well, we've seen how long it lasts with you. Amen. It ain't never started, let alone last. Taste goes against the grain. It almost got Jonathan kilt. Is that a good word? Kilt? Amen. I guess it's just pulpit. I just did a Charlie-ism, amen. And I'll tell you what else. Wouldn't it be something if everybody got a taste? Boy, wouldn't that be something here tonight? I mean, this is Sunday night church. This is Sunday night Christians. Wouldn't it be something if everybody in here got a taste and their eyes got enlightened? And then when, amen, one of these folks get up and sing, or these gals, or Brother Jordan get up to sing, and all of a sudden, buddy, we start shouting her out, running the aisle. I've seen it before. Wouldn't it be something if everybody got a taste? Amen. And you know, we was talking about Saul. Saul made that bad decision. Look over later on in the chapter. Let me show you a sad, sad statement. And he says over there, all the people flew on the spoil because they were starving. And you know the story, verse 33, And when they told Saul, saying, Behold, the people sinned against the Lord, in that they eat with the blood. And he said, Ye have transgressed, roll a great stone unto me this day. And Saul said, Disperse yourselves among the people, and say unto them, Bring me every hither an ox, a sheep, and all that, and the blood. And Saul built an altar unto the Lord. The same was the first altar that he built unto the Lord. And Saul said, let us go down after the Philistines by night and spoil them in the morning light. Let us not leave a man of them. And they said, do what's ever seen with good of thee. Then he said to the high priest, let us draw near hither unto God. And Saul asked counsel of God, shall I go down after the Philistines without delivering them into the hand of Israel? Look at this last statement. But he answered him not that day. Now, I'm gonna tell you something, folks. That is one thing right there that scares me. Amen. God didn't answer him that day. Amen. I would hate to get myself into a pickle where God wouldn't speak to me anymore, to my heart. Amen. That's where he got to. Amen. What if everybody had a taste? in this chapter, I'm telling you, one of the great acts of faith, I think, in the Word of God. That, to me, merits right up there with David and Goliath. Amen. God saved Israel that day. And no wonder the Bible said Jonathan's heart was knit with the heart of David. You know when that took place? Is after David killed Goliath, Saul said, who is this stripling? Whose son is he? And they went and got him and said, hey, the king wants to see you. And David said, all right. And he went, oh, wait just a minute. And he went back and got the head of Goliath. Can you imagine? Head like walking around with a five-gallon bucket. Nappy head. Rock sunk in his forehead with his tongue sticking out. And here he is holding that head in his hand. That's the first taxidermist in the Bible. He had the first mount everybody ever mounted. And there he is standing before the king with that head in his hand. And that's when the Bible said Jonathan's heart was knit with David. And you know what he did? He loved David that day. You know why? He was a warrior. Amen. I'm going to tell you something folks, people still love warriors. Used to be the ministry was geared that way. The old preachers that we were around, They were like old gunslingers that came into town. Amen, when they preached, there was a charge about them. Now, you go to some of these meetings now, you feel like you've been kissed. I don't want to go here preaching and have a hickey on my neck when it's done. Amen. Smell like that guy's, amen, aftershave lotion. But I'm going to tell you, we're in a fight. We're in a battle. Amen. Some of you boys, it may be good tonight. It may be the Lord will do something with you. You say, well, how do you know? We don't. But it may be He will. I'll guarantee you, you put the Lord to that test, He may be, may use you. Amen. And I'm going to tell you, it is the best life there is. Amen heads about and eyes closed That's the message tonight. I'm glad to be with you all if you if God spoke to your heart How about coming around this old mourners bench? It may be the Lord will use you It may be use your home It may be this church, amen, through all the trouble and all the strife, all the mess that's gonna happen and has happened, it may be the Lord just, amen, used this place. Amen. You know what God did? God took the earth and made an earthquake and made them flee. We need that kind of faith today. Father, bless this invitation and God have your way. Help us, Lord, here tonight. Be with these young men, young ladies, help them to step out. God, by faith, the way you did with us, and Lord, you've always been so good to me. I thank you, Lord. God, what you've done for me and my little wife, and God, all these years, Lord, it's because we stepped out and said it may be, and Lord, help God here tonight. Bless this church, Lord. Bless Brother Charlie, his health, Miss Myra, and others here, Lord. I pray for God, the folks that are sick. God, Miss Diane, I pray you touch her. God, help us, Lord, move here tonight, I pray in Jesus' name.
