I've got a confession to make. I have to confess that I joined a gang, Brother Jack's Motorcycle Gang. I was out there riding around on that motorcycle, looking at all that stuff, and I said, man, this is some really great stuff you made, God. Thanks for making this motorcycle for me. Thanks for making theirs for them too, I guess. What's God made? Everything. Including today. This is a day which the Lord hath made. Isn't that interesting? You know, we think, well, this is a day that the Lord hath made. This is just a Sunday. He said, let us rejoice and be glad in it. You know what you're supposed to do with the stuff God gives you? You're supposed to enjoy it. Isn't that interesting? You know how much of the church services today are going to be on enjoying the one that made you? Instead of, you didn't pass out enough tracks, you didn't witness enough, you need to bring your neighbors. It ain't all that way. And when you do speak like that, you know people can tell whether you're trying to sell them a bill of goods or not? You know that, don't you? Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks. And if that salesman's got ulterior motives when he's trying to talk to you, you know something ain't right, no matter how good it sounds. You know what lost people are like? They're just like that. Are you full of joy when you're witnessing? Or is it just a task? Are you passing out tracks just like you've been programmed to do? Or you actually have some enthusiasm about it and saying, man, this is the best thing I ever found in my life. You need to read something, man. If you're not happy, here's a place to start. It's more like, Oh, they're gonna church drag, you know? Church drag. Fear of man bringeth a snare. Right? If God be for us, who can be against us? What are you afraid of? You're afraid because your attention's on yourself. That's why. Anyway, let me read this one little thing to you this morning before we get into the Sunday school lesson. It's just a verse of scripture here, a couple verses that caught my attention. I said, oh Lord, that's good. Boy, I'd like to see that happen here. It's over in Romans 15, 15 one to six. We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak and not to please ourselves. Let every one of us please his neighbor for his good to edification. For even Christ pleased not himself, but as it is written, the reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Now the God of patience and consolation grant you to be like-minded one toward another according to Christ Jesus. that ye may be with one mind and one mouth, glorify God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. How about that? One mind and one mouth, glorify God. Who? All of you. You know, on Pentecost, it talks about those people being in the upper room and they were of one mind and of one accord. You wanna see God really get busy? Get of one mind and one accord to glorify God. You're gonna see some things start happening that you've never seen before and never heard of. You say, you really think so? I know so. Why? Because that's what it's all about. You know, they say, two or three gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst. Okay, let's just say Jesus' name and boy, he'll have to be here now. We got him here now. Why? We're claiming that verse for God. There's more in that stuff than just words. It's out of the abundance of the heart. Man looketh on the outward appearance. That goes for the words too. That's the outward appearance. But God knows what's down in there. That's what he's interested in. Anyway, let's get back into this thing with our timeless creator and the second coming and the things that we think we know about some of this stuff. And back over into here, I don't know if we got it up there. Yeah, here we go. We got the fourth watch, you know. And so we're into the fourth watch and I've been kind of delayed and bounced around by the Lord about much better things to talk about than this. You know, last week was pure pleasure for me. I didn't expect it to last that long, but it was just really great. Anyway, back to the witnesses. Look over in Revelation 11, verse three to six. And I will give power unto my two witnesses, and they shall prophesy 1,203 score days, clothes and sackcloth. These are the two olive trees and the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth. So we're talking about these witnesses, and we're talking about what happens to them and who they are. We think we know that they're Moses and Elijah. You say, well, I don't know that. Well, then I've included you mistakenly. You know, I think I know who they are. I think they're Moses and Elijah for a whole bunch of reasons. We've already covered a bunch of them. Now in the Old Testament, there was two guys that didn't die. One of them was Enoch. And that guy pleased God in such a way that God just simply took him. He said, man, you're made for my pleasure. Enoch says, I know it, I just love it. God says, you know what? I miss you. That's why I come and I walk around and talk with you. I miss you when I'm not here. I think I'm just gonna take you on with me right now. Let's go. That's pretty interesting, you know. Absent from the body, present with the Lord. Man, he was present with the Lord and then really present with the Lord. He took a body and all. You say, how did he do that? I don't know. How do you walk with God, you know? No man's seen God at any time. Well, you see Jesus Christ, but I'm talking about God. I'm talking about the God that Moses saw. That's some powerful stuff. You say, how did you do that? I don't know, man. God does some different things for different people. That's one thing that all of us have yet to learn. We're like little kids and we think if God doesn't treat us just like he treated them, he's not being fair. You ever had your kids feel like you're being unfair to them? That's exactly how we are. And whether you put it into words or not, if you actually prayed what was in your heart, a lot of times you say, God, you're not being fair to me. The only problem is that sounds too much like a little kid, doesn't it? So you just go on with thinking it without saying it. You'd be better off to just go ahead and verbalize it, articulate it right to God. You're not being fair to me. God said, you've never been fair to me. Whoa. Okay, I'll shut up. The other guy that didn't die was Elijah. Now how'd he go up? Was he taken? You talk about that song, you know, in a chariot of fire and all that stuff. How many of you think Elijah went up in a chariot of fire? Come on, give me a hand if you think Elijah went up in a chariot of fire. How many of you think he went up a different way? He said, we don't know. Brother Mark has shell-shocked us to the point that he asks a question and we answer it and he stomps on us publicly. You think I'm gonna keep answering questions in this place, you know? I may be a slow learner, but I'm still a learner. Oh, really? I mean, you know Elijah didn't die, right? So how'd he go up? Did he go up in my chariot? Brother Selden said, yeah, I got one Bible scholar that says yes. There's an honest answer. This time, Brother Selden's wrong. I knew I was gonna pull it out of somebody. I didn't expect it to be him. That's it, the last time he's ever gonna answer. Okay, let's find out how he went up. Let's get on over there into 2 Kings 2.11. This actually was kind of a surprise to me, because I had thought that he went up in a chariot too. Even though I'd read it a bunch of times, you just don't really look at it and look at it clearly, you know. There you go, that verse says he went up in a whirlwind, that's right. The chariot parted them one from another. Over there in verse 11, it talks about that. And it came to pass as they still went on and talked that behold, there appeared a chariot of fire and horses of fire and parted them both asunder and Elijah went up by the whirlwind into heaven. You read that stuff and you kind of just pass by it. Now you think about this a minute. Really, I mean, we're gonna touch on this a little bit more. Do you realize what kind of a creator we have? Like I said, we've never been taught much about him. You know, all of our attention has been drawn to ourself and what we're doing and what we're supposed to do and what we're not doing and what we ought to do more of and what we ought to do less of. That's what it's all about, you know, in churches. But your attention's not been drawn to your creator. Do you realize what kind of a creator you've got? Here's Elijah out there with Elisha. Elisha says, you know, I want double portion. Well, if you see me go up, you're gonna get it. He tries to leave him behind multiple times. Can't you just envision these two guys talking? And Elisha said, you're gonna have to kill me. I'm gonna be here no matter what. And so Elijah hanging around with him, hanging around with him. The only way those two guys got separated was God sent this chariot of fire with horses of fire to separate them. Why? You couldn't have gotten Elisha away from Elijah to save your life. That man was bonded to him. He said, you're not getting me away after a promise like that. Are you kidding? All I gotta do is watch that go up and I get a double portion of what you've got? My oh my, kill me first. I'm sticking this thing out to the end. God had to separate them. Can you imagine God sending horses of fire and a chariot of fire? He said, what do you think of Israel fire? Why don't you guys have more faith in that? You know, you say, well, it couldn't have been real fire. They would have burned up. That's all you know about your creator. Don't you realize what that shows you? If there's one thing that your maker is not, it's boring. He doesn't hardly do anything repetitively, nothing. Fingerprints are ancient history. You know that, don't you? We were watching a deal the other day, and it was about the iris of your eye. They got this thing down now to where they're looking at the iris of your eye, and it's not color, it's just black and white. That's all they need. And both of your eyes are different. That's how different every one of those is, and nobody can fake that. He said, that thing just takes a little picture of your eye, and the iris of your eye, that's all they need. You know why? Because there's only one like it. One. Out of how many billions? He is not boring. Man, he is a god of variety. Anyway, so Enoch goes up, Elijah, he didn't die, he went up, what part of him? His body. Couldn't have happened. Whirlwind suck him up into the air. You know, there's only a few original plots to stories and they're all in here. Does that remind you anything? Anybody getting sucked up in a whirlwind? Wizard of Oz, man. You start thinking about all these stories, they're in here. The original plots are all in here and all the rest of them take after that. The hero villain stuff, that's the major theme all the way through. I mean, it's all the way through there. One guy that was a literary critic, he named him, he said, here's the original plots, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, and all the rest of them are derivative from that. You get down to some of this stuff, it's science fiction. You know where your science fiction is in the Bible, don't you? I mean, you got stuff over there with flying saucers in Ezekiel, and a wheel within a wheel, and the chariots round about, and they went up, this went up, and that went up. You got stuff described in that thing in the Old Testament, you can't even figure out what it is. Then you get over into Revelation, and it's really like, oh, wow, what is this? It's like science fiction, every bit of it. In a moment, in a twinkling of an eye, changed instantly. It's all through here. There is nothing new that God hasn't given. If God doesn't have it, you don't have it. I mean, that's all there is to it. All your feelings, all your emotions, all your thoughts, they derive from the one that made you. Anyway, now Elijah's gonna die. You say, where's he gonna die? He's gonna die back over in Revelation. You get back over in Revelation 11 and it says, basically they cut their heads off and the bodies lay in the streets for three and a half days. And after three days and a half, the spirit of life from God entered into them, that's verse 11. And they stood upon their feet, and a great fear fell upon all them which saw them. And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud, and their enemies beheld them. They watched them go. Now that's going to be a sight. Their heads are cut off. and they're laying out there in the street for three and a half days. Now remember, these guys have been bringing tribulation on this earth and all these people for three and a half years. So when they die, people are really happy, you know that? You know how happy they are? And they are the people that kindreds of tongues and nations will see their dead bodies three days and a half and shall not suffer their dead bodies to be put in the graves and they that dwell upon the earth shall rejoice over them and make merry and shall send gifts one to another. Man, this thing's better than Christmas. They're gonna start sending gifts because they're just so happy, they're rejoicing, and they're gonna do that spontaneously. That's not gonna be because it's promoted by Walmart and everybody else. These people are really rejoicing. Wow, these guys that plagued us are gone. That's a strange state. And General Elisha dies right there. You think Enoch's gonna die? It's appointed unto man once to die, but after this a judgment? No, he's not gonna die. How do you know that? Because a whole bunch of people aren't gonna die. When the Lord comes back, we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the air. How'd you get there? You went up while you were alive. You didn't have to die. That's pretty interesting. God does all kinds of things. He does stuff so different one from the other that it gets absolutely confusing sometimes. Now Moses died, right? But he's not buried. What do you mean he's not buried? He's not buried, look over in Jude. Where's his body? God got it early. What? I never heard of nothing like that. What you been reading anyway, newspaper? Look over in Jude, verse nine. Yet Michael the archangel, when contending with the devil, he disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring against him a railing accusation, but said, the Lord rebuke thee. And that's one little old tiny glimpse from the Word of God into what happened. You say, what happened? Well, you remember where we just read in there a week or two back where it's Moses and Elisha standing up there on that Mount of Transfiguration? Well, you know, Elisha was up there. He went up with his whole body, right? And so here's Moses. What's he standing there in? He's standing there in his body. They're gonna come back as witnesses. In what? Bodies. Think about it just a minute. If they have supernatural bodies, how do you think they're gonna kill them? You think they can kill Jesus Christ if he didn't lay down his life? You think you can kill an angel? You think you're gonna kill somebody that's supernatural when God gives you a new body? And now you've got eternal life and the corruptible must put on incorruption? You think anybody's gonna kill you after that? These guys got real live bodies somehow, and they're up there in heaven. Like I said, God's not boring. If there's anything, he loves this variety. He just throws that stuff out, it's like, wow. You know, I don't even know if anybody gets saved the same way as somebody else anymore. I mean, there's so many tiny little details, it's almost like everybody's got their own individual story. And I don't care how much it looks the same, they're all different. It's like all the eyes look the same, and they're all different. All the fingers look the same, and they're all different. All the trees look the same, and they're all different. That's the way God is, man. He just throws that stuff out there. He says, I don't like anything that's boring. What do you like that's the same, God? Just me, I'm the same yesterday, today, and forever. The rest of that stuff, I like variety. So anyway, what happens here is God sends Michael down for the body of Moses and he takes that body back up there for future plans. And so then he shows up later on back here as these two witnesses. Now, Moses is gonna die twice and many others die twice. You say, what? Moses is gonna die twice. He died once. He's gonna die again when they cut his head off. He's gonna lie in the street three and a half days. But he's not the only one. Lazarus, he died. He'd die again. Aren't you glad you only gotta die once? Might not even have to do that. Personally, I don't think we are. Anyway, you got more than that. You got Jairus' daughter. Oh, the maid sleepest, they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. I ate her eyes, get up. You're not gonna give me a chance to read any of my notes. He's trying to recover from Elijah going up in the chariot now. You know what this is, don't you? This is people that are interested in what God said. This is something God said. You get into these discussions where somebody can't hardly wait for the other guy to shut up to say something else about what God said, that's when it really starts getting good. And why? Because our interest is where he wants it to be. You know what he wants from you? He wants to be the center of your attention. That's what he wants. But it has to be your idea. Has to be. He's not going to knock you down and slap you around to get your attention. He may nudge you, but he's not going to force you to pay attention to him. Not going to do it. But he wants to be the center of your affection, the center of your attention. He wants you to be so aware of him moment by moment. You say, God, thank you for making the air that the fans are blowing on me with the electricity that you created eternal things around. That's what he wants. He wants you to be aware of the fact that he made everything, and what an awesome God it is that can make that stuff. That's what he wants. When your attention's on yourself, you're not functioning the way he made you, or for the reason he made you. But you're right, Brother Selden, there's Lazarus, there's Jairus' daughter, there's the widow's son, there's the funeral briar, there's Tabitha, There is Eutychus. You say, Eutychus? Go ahead, who's Eutychus? The guy that fell asleep. Fell out of the window. You say, oh, he just knocked himself out. No, it says right there he was dead. Who raised him up? Who raised him up? It wasn't Jesus. No. You realize Jesus Christ talking to his disciples and says, in greater works you do than these? Well, you say, well, he raised a bunch of people from dead. Where did a disciple ever do a greater work than Jesus Christ? There's one place that I know of. There's probably more. There's one place. You remember when the disciples are walking along and their shadow passed on somebody? You remember that? The woman had to touch the hem of his garment. But those disciples, just their shadow did it. He said, greater works than these. How come you do that, God? I told you, I like variety. I like healing with a shadow. Anyway, moving along, Eutychus, he comes up. And then, one of my favorites in the whole Word of God, you remember back over there when Elisha was dead and buried? He was buried and all that was left of him was his bones. And here comes some guys to bury another guy. And here comes an army, the enemy shows up about the same time and they see them and they get afraid. And so instead of burying this guy, they toss him in the grave where Elisha was laying. They throw him in there. And when he hits the bones, he comes back to life and beat him back into town. You say, how do you know they beat him back into town? I know he did. Stop and think about it a minute. How tired are you going to be if you carry this rascal? This guy had been resting. He jumped up, took off, and beat him back into town. Sorry, guys. You got to slow down. They'd catch you. Anyway, then there was one great big one. We'll look at this and then close this morning. Look over in Ezekiel 37, verse 1 to 10. This is great. The hand of the Lord was upon me, and carried me out in the Spirit of the Lord, and set me down in the midst of the valley, which was full of bones, and caused me to pass by them round about. And behold, there were very many in the open valley, and lo, they were very dry. And he said unto me, Son of man, can these bones live? And I answered, O Lord God, thou knowest. Again he said unto me, prophesy upon these bones and say unto them, O ye dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. Thus saith the Lord God unto these bones, behold, I will cause breath to enter into you and you shall live. and I will lay sinews upon you, and will bring up flesh upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and ye shall live, and ye shall know that I am the Lord. So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I prophesied, there was a noise, and behold, a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. And when I beheld, lo, the sinews and the flesh came upon them, and the skin covered them above. But there was no breath in them. Then said unto me, Prophesy unto the wind. Prophesy, son of man, and say to the wind, Thus saith the Lord God. Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain that they may live. So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came unto them, and they lived and stood upon their feet, an exceeding great army. You know what? That story takes on a whole different meaning when you're thinking about your creator doing that. You know what you begin to see? You begin to see him form an atom from the dust of the ground. You begin to see what happens at the rapture. The dead in Christ shall rise first. Where did the sinews in the flesh come from? Where did the skin come from? He said the stuff just came out. Where'd it come from? It came up. From dust thou art, to dust thou shalt return. He formed Adam out of the dust of the ground. And God puts that stuff back together, just whew. Nothing to it. You notice something else? When he was done, they were just like Adam. Everything was there, but they weren't alive. And he said, prophesy to the wind. And God breathed into Adam the breath of life, and the man became a living soul. He said, breathe on them. They came back to life. That's over in John. You say, I thought we were gonna stop. We are. You don't have to turn over here. Over in John 6, 63. It is the spirit that quickeneth. You know what the quickeneth is? You ever had a hangnail? Pull it down into the quick. So tear it off, you know what the quick is? That's what's alive. You went from that callous back into something that's alive and you felt it. It's the spirit that quickeneth, that's where the life comes from. And then it says, the flesh profiteth nothing, but the words I speak unto you, they are spirit, they are life. What did he tell Ezekiel to say? He said, prophesy unto these bones and say this and this and this and this. Why did he say, say it? Because God formed the things with the breath of his mouth and by his words he creates. You know what it is? God's creation obeys him to the extent that he can say, let there be light and it obeys him. He can say, let the seas bring forth the living creature. and they obey Him. You understand what I'm saying? I'm saying the stuff obeys Him. What's our problem? Let's close in prayer.
