Well, I'm here in Gloucester to preach the Word of God today and to call sinners to repentance and to a saving faith in Jesus Christ. Yes, we must repent if we are going to be saved. There is no logic, there's no rationale to my mind that says that we should be saved but repentance isn't necessary. But I'll have more to say about that. But there are those who are attacking the Gospel saying that preaching repentance is preaching another Gospel. That is nonsense. God requires us to repent. He says now that he commands all men everywhere to repent. Now, as I've said, I'm in Gloucester. The last time I preached here was in 2010, I believe. I've preached here several times before, especially 30 years ago. A historic city, a very nice city, and characteristic of itself. I know there are other open-air preachers who come here, people who live in Gloucester and make it their business, I think, on a regular basis to preach here. The Lord bless you, brothers, if you're listening to this. And the Lord help you, and the Lord strengthen you to preach God's Word. May the Lord have mercy on the people of Gloucester. Father, I pray that you would have mercy on the people of Gloucester. I pray that the Gospel would be faithfully, fully and by your Holy Spirit's power, powerfully preached now. I pray, Heavenly Father, that the Word would go forth and that it would bring conviction of sin and righteousness and judgement. I pray that there would be weeping and mourning and lamenting over sin. I pray that there would be true repentance from the heart given by grace, given by the Holy Spirit in the hearts of sinners. I pray that there would be a calling upon the name of the Lord and I pray that in that calling there would be true saving faith. I pray that sinners would be born again of your Holy Spirit and I pray that they would be transferred from the kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of light. So, Father, thank you for putting me here to preach your word. Bless all of those who preach your word here in the city centre. Have mercy upon this city and have mercy upon me now and cleanse me from my sins in Jesus' precious blood. And this I ask and pray in his precious name. Amen. Amen. Well, good afternoon. I'm here to preach the Gospel. I'm here to lift up the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and to say that there is salvation in no other name but in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. He is the Saviour of the world. He is the one who delivers from sin. He is the one that gives everlasting life, resurrection from the dead. He is the one who will take away your sin. He is the one who will give you salvation. He is the Saviour of the world. No, we need to be saved because we are sinners by nature. We need to be saved because we are guilty before Almighty God. We need to be saved because there is a judgement to come and there is a wrath to come. And if we are not saved, if our sins are not forgiven, if we do not have peace with God, if we have not been reconciled to Almighty God, then our sins remain upon us. And there is a day of God's wrath, and there is a day of God's judgement, and there is a day when the wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. So we must turn from our sins, and we must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and we must call on the Lord Jesus Christ, For the forgiveness of our sins and the salvation of our souls. Now I read in my Bible, the Bible is the Word of God, I read in my Bible as follows. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Now we also read that the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses from all sin. That's in verse 7. But if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have fellowship one with another. And the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanseth us from all sin. And there's nothing else that can take away our sin. Listen to these words. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves. And the truth is not in us. If I spoke to people, many people here today, I guarantee you that there would be not a few who say, I'm not a sinner. I've not broken God's commandments, I've never done anything wrong. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. Now you see, to say that we are without sin is to lie to ourselves, to lie to others, but above all to lie to Almighty God. God isn't deceived, my friends. God will judge each one of us according to our works. And the wicked shall be turned into hell, and all the nations that forget God. So if you forget God, you will be turned into hell. If you do not find Jesus Christ, you will be turned into hell. Your sins remain upon you without Jesus Christ. But you who say you have no sin, have you ever told a lie? Have you ever been dishonest and you think that dishonesty isn't sin? You think that God will tolerate your dishonesty, will tolerate your lies, will tolerate your falsehood and your fraud? God cannot sin. God is a God who dwells in unapproachable light. In fact, we read of Almighty God in the Bible that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. No darkness in God. But your lies are darkness. They are darkness in your heart. Sin is darkness in your heart. And for every sin and for every transgression of the law of God, of the commandments of God, there is a just recompense and reward for sin. And that just recompense and reward for sin is everlasting torment in hellfire. The wicked shall be turned into hell. In fact, Jesus tells us in the book of Revelation, whose servant's name was not found written in the book of life, was cast into the lake of fire. So we must repent of our sins and we must believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and God will have mercy on us and he will save us from our sin and he will deliver us from the wrath to come. In Jesus Christ. Through Jesus Christ. By Jesus Christ. Through faith in Him. Through believing on Him. Believing in His death. Believing in His sacrifice for sin. Amen, my friend. Hallelujah. Jesus Christ is Lord of heaven and earth. And He is the Saviour of all those that put their trust in Him. You see, there are many in England, even today, who still trust in Jesus Christ, who are not ashamed to stand up for the Lord Jesus Christ, who are not ashamed to speak up for the Lord Jesus Christ. If you go to the media, you might think that Christianity was dead. They have no desire to publish Christian things. They have no desire that this Gospel should be preached or that it should be heard. You won't be hearing from the BBC shouting from the rooftops that Jesus Christ is Lord. But you hear a preacher standing on a street corner saying, Jesus Christ is Lord, preaching this gospel, calling you to repentance from your sin and to a living, saving faith in Jesus Christ. And if you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, God will have mercy on you. And if you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, He will forgive you. And He will cleanse you from your sin. And He will make you so clean through that precious blood, the blood of Jesus Christ, that you will be able to stand on the Day of Judgement without fear of condemnation. Because Jesus Christ is that sacrifice for sin. He is the Son of God. And He died on the cross of Calvary. And death could not hold Him. And He was raised from the dead by the power of Almighty God. And He is alive today. Now, you are powerless to save yourself. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves. And the truth is not in us. You say you have no sin. You say that you have never sinned, you have never sworn, you have never lied, you have never worshipped idols. But it's more than that. If you say you haven't sinned, you are telling me that you have always loved the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind and with all your strength. Don't lie to yourself. You never loved God. You hated God. You hated the light. You fled from it. You hid from the light. You loved darkness rather than light because your deeds were evil, Jesus says. There is only one person who loved God with all his heart, with all his soul, and with all his mind, and with all his strength, and loved him continually, forever and always, and that is the Lord Jesus Christ himself. The Lord Jesus Christ alone was without sin. The Lord Jesus Christ alone is the one who never ever broke the commandments of God. And He alone was the one that did not deserve to die. He did not have to die. The wages of sin is death. Death comes on this world because we are sinners. Because we are guilty before Almighty God. Because we have broken the commandments of God. Because we have transgressed His laws. So if we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. We deceive ourselves. Do you know what? The Bible tells us that the human heart, that's your heart and my heart, is desperately wicked and deceitful above all things. Now, before Noah's flood, before that terrible catastrophe, that worldwide flood, which took place and the testimony of the reality of that flood is contained in all the geological strata throughout the world, before that, God said of mankind, all the thoughts and intents of man's hearts are only evil continually. And we live in such a day as that, Jesus said, as in the days of Noah, so it would be in the days of the coming of the Son of Man. All the thoughts and intents of men's hearts were only evil continually. Sexual immorality, sexual impurity, sexual perversion, pornography, false and fraudulent religions and idolatry. Refusing to obey and believe this Gospel. Refusing to return from our sins to God through Jesus Christ and through His death. We are living in dark, despicable, evil times. We are living in times described by the Bible as times in which there is no fear of God before our eyes. And there is no greater disaster that could befall a nation like the United Kingdom. I remember when it was called Great Britain, but it's called United Kingdom now, I don't know who did that. But the thing is this, there is no greater disaster that could befall us than that it should be said of us, there is no fear of God before their eyes. We carry on in our sins. Okay, thank you, you know the Lord Jesus? Thank you, good, good. So to know the Lord Jesus Christ is to know life from the dead, to know the forgiveness of our sins, to know peace with God. Not to know the Lord Jesus Christ is to know that there is a certain fearful expectation of judgment and damnation and torment and hellfire. If you don't know Jesus Christ, your sins remain upon you. Now, Gloucester has an extraordinarily powerful history of the preaching of this gospel. If you walk down to the cathedral and you go beyond its precincts, just let this ambulance pass, Gloucester has an extraordinarily powerful history of gospel preaching. Gloucester is a town that has been blessed immeasurably by God in former generations. If you go down to the cathedral past its precincts and go down beyond it you'll find the John Hooper memorial. John Hooper, who was martyred there, who was bound to a stake with an iron ring, and who was burned to ashes at that stake. John Hooper, who was faithful to the Word of God. John Hooper, a faithful bishop in the Church of England. John Hooper, a man who taught that justification, salvation, is by faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone. Now if John Hooper had acknowledged that transubstantiation, as taught by the Roman Catholic, was truth, he could have been spared and he could have been saved. And his friends pleaded with him to recant and to believe the false and fraudulent doctrines of the Church of Rome. And they said, life is sweet and death is bitter. And John Hooper gave this extraordinary, famous answer before he died. He said, life is sweet and death is bitter, but eternal life is sweeter. And eternal death is more bitter. And in Jesus Christ there is eternal life. And without Jesus Christ there is the second death and the lake of fire. Whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. And that's why I'm here, because that's your end. You are on the very edge of hell. Your feet are in slippery places. The only thing stopping you from falling into hell today is the mercy of God. And you blaspheme His name. And you reject His Word. And you sin against the knowledge of His salvation. And you do not love Jesus Christ. And you think nothing of the cross of Calvary. Your feet are on the very verge of hell. They are in slippery places. And the only God who can save you, the eternal God, the true and living God, the God of heaven and earth, That God you have rebelled against. That God you hate. That God you have rejected. You love your sins. You love your pornography. You love your wine. You love your beer. You love your whiskey. You love your godlessness. Some of you will say to me, well, I'm an atheist. It doesn't apply to me. Well, the Bible says, God says, the fool has said in his heart, there is no God. And it's God that says that, not me. God says that if you don't believe in God, you are a fool. The creation declares the glory of God. All of the evidence for the existence of God is there in absolutely superabundant measure. But you say, I can't see it. You love darkness rather than light. And you will go anywhere to escape the knowledge of God. Anywhere. You will even go as far as saying that a man can become a woman, or a boy can become a girl, or a girl can become a boy. You will tolerate that teaching in our schools. You will hand your children over to it. You will say, it's okay, they're the schools, it doesn't matter. But you know that not one person has ever, ever changed sex. Not one. And the very least I would expect if we're going to have this ideology foisted on us is some senior medical doctors proving to us that a person can change sex. But they won't. They're dumb. They're silent. They won't speak. They're bought. They're corrupt. And I'm ashamed of the medical profession for not speaking up and saying that a person cannot change sex. But these are the kinds of lies that people turn to. These are the kinds of lies that people turn to when they do not want to retain God in their knowledge. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. When I was young, science was going to give us all the answers. We didn't need God. Science was going to help us to build a better world. It was going to help us to overcome all those illnesses, cancer and heart disease and strokes and illness and everything. But now we have the madness and the folly. Science has led us to the madness and folly. The foolishness. The foolishness of transgender ideology. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. That's what happens to us when we reject God. And we have rejected God. We have cast off the knowledge of God. We have forsaken God. We have rejected His commandments. Amen. Yes. Amen. Jesus Christ is Lord. Amen. Yes. That's great. There's a few Christians here in Gloucester who are willing to recognise the preaching of God's Word. Praise God for that. The Lord bless them all. Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools. Marriage is to be between a man and a woman. Marriage is created by God, ordained by God. Marriage is good in God's eyes. The Bible says, Marriage is honourable among all, and the bed undefiled, but fornicators and adulterers God will judge. Sex outside of the lawful married bond, God will judge. Pornography, God will judge. homosexuality and lesbianism, God will judge. And it says, even as we didn't like to retain God in our knowledge, he gave them over to a reprobate mind. They did orgy parties. A reprobate mind. Orgy parties back in the Romans. What about your sins, sir? You need the Lord Jesus Christ. Look at whatever it is. If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. Are you saying you've never sinned? Yeah, I have sinned. OK, well how... You're saying about homosexuality and all that sort of stuff. In the Bible, that's sin. Does not a caterpillar change into a butterfly? Are you a caterpillar? Are you a caterpillar, sir? Is that what you think you are? Well, there we are, you see. So they'll use nature, they'll use caterpillars to justify their sins, but they won't turn to the true and living God. I mean, how wise is that? I mean, how truthful is that? A caterpillar or a man? No, no, no, no, no. Mankind is made in the image of God. We are not like the animals. We are made in the image of God. We are made male and female in the image of God. That is a clear testimony of Scripture. It is the clear testimony of our eyes. It is the clear testimony of science that we are made male and female at least. But we were made for God's glory. We were made to love God. We were made to glorify God. We were made to enjoy God forever. But the God who holds our breath in His hands, Him we have not honoured. We are guilty. We are corrupt. We are undone. We are ruined. We are under the wrath of God. The wrath of God, the Bible says, is being revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men. That secret thing that you do that no one else knows about. God knows about it. That thing which if it was declared in public, you would be full of shame. And quite rightly so. God sees it. God knows about it. And he says, the wicked shall be turned into hell and all the nations that forget God. You see, you see we cannot hide from God. There is nowhere that we can go to hide from God. The psalmist said, if I make my bed in hell out there, some of you will go to hell to get away from God, but you cannot. It tells us that in hell, those who are in hell are tormented in the presence of God and of His holy angels. You will flee but there is nowhere to run. You will hide but you will be exposed. And Jesus said there is nothing that is done in secret that will not be revealed. The secret things, the hidden things of shame will be revealed. And in Revelation we have this picture of the Day of Judgment when the Lord Jesus Christ is seated on the throne of heaven in all glory and books are opened and each one is judged according to their works. And those whose name were not found written in the book of life were cast into the lake of fire, that is hellfire and torment, for eternity. There's no annihilation, there's no reincarnation, no second chances, no repentance after death, no turning again, no repentance when we stand before the throne of God. Now what I'm saying should tell us that God is serious about sin. That thrice holy God before whom the mightiest of angels must veil their faces as they cry, Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty. The whole earth is full of His glory. He is the God before whom we must stand. That baby born in Bethlehem in absolute humility is none other than the Lord of Glory. He was born in Bethlehem in humility. The Lord Jesus is God with us. He became flesh and dwelt among us. But, but when Jesus returns, thank you my friend, when Jesus returns, He will return on the clouds of heaven. He will return without His glory veiled. He will return in all the glory and majesty of Almighty God. He will return and men will cry out for the rocks and the hills and the mountains to fall on them, to hide them from Him. Because now their sins are exposed, the hidden things of shame, their lies, their immoralities, their drunkenness, their bitterness, the violence of their hearts, the bloodthirstiness of their hearts, the evilness of their deeds, their wretchedness, their godlessness, their idolatry. And when Jesus Christ returns, he will return as the judge of all the earth. Are you ready for him? Are you ready for the day when the Lord Jesus Christ will return on the clouds of heaven? Are your sins forgiven? Have they been washed? Are you cleansed? Have they been washed away by his blood, by the blood of Jesus Christ? Again here we read, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth us from all sin. We must come to Jesus. It is Jesus Christ alone. It is the blood of Jesus Christ alone that takes away sin. And you will say, oh that's very nice, so therefore I can carry on in my sins. No you can't. And you'll say, oh that's wonderful, but I can live without him then because I'll be saved anyway. No you won't. The Bible is absolutely clear that in order to be saved from our sins, we must repent of our sins and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. And if you are without the Lord Jesus Christ, you are lost and damned and ruined in your sins. You are under the wrath of God in your sins. And you need to repent and believe on the Lord Jesus. And God will then have mercy on you. And God will then save you. And God will then deliver you. And God will then give you everlasting life. Now the only way you can stand before God is if you are so pure, so clean, that God will accept you into his heaven. And God will never accept anything that is impure or unholy into his heaven. And we are all sinners, we are all guilty, we are all wretched, vile, corrupt. We are all under the wrath of God because of our sins until we find Jesus Christ. You have an undying soul. And one day you must stand before God on the day of judgement, and you do not know what that day is. If Jesus were to return on the clouds of heaven today, at this very hour, at this very moment, because no man knows the day or the time when Jesus will return, Then, if you do not know Him, then your fate will be sealed, your ruin, your damnation, your eternity in hell will be sure, because you never believed, because you never repented, because you never turned, because you never sought, because you never found the Saviour of the world, the Lord Jesus Christ. But if you repent of your sin, if you acknowledge your sins before Almighty God, if you forsake your sin, if you flee from the wrath to come to the Lord Jesus Christ, if you cry out, Lord have mercy on me a sinner, putting your trust in Jesus Christ alone, in His blood alone, in His death alone, then you have everlasting life. With Jesus we are saved. Without Jesus Christ we are damned and ruined and lost. With Jesus there is no condemnation to us. Without Jesus there is only a certain fearful expectation of judgment. There is a wrath to come. There is a hell to come. A place of everlasting, fiery, inescapable, terrible torment. And there are no second chances in hell. There's a guy that looks like a Mormon missionary. I don't know if he is. Mormonism, of course, is wrong. It's not Christianity. It's a false doctrine. Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world. He loved sinners. He died for sinners. He gave himself for sinners. He laid down his life on the cross. The Lord Jesus was pure and perfect and holy and righteous. Unlike you, my friend, I'd like to think that you were rather... You're not forgiven, you're a curser. No, no, we're not forgiven if we don't know Jesus Christ. If you don't know Jesus, your sins remain upon you. If you know Jesus, all your sins are forgiven. Are you saying that same sexualities shouldn't have sex? I'm saying that homosexuality is sinful. Right, OK. Have you ever watched Jurassic Park? No, I haven't had time for that. It's dinosaurs. Yes. OK, so Jesus Christ, you need to repent of your sin. You will also know that dinosaurs had male and female organs. So what? So what? God made them. That's why two males could have sex, you dumbass. Are you a dinosaur? A minute ago you were a caterpillar, now you're a dinosaur. I veritably believe, sir, I veritably believe, sir, I veritably believe that you are evolving, but you still aren't the man that God made you with the soul that God gave you to worship and glorify Him. You must repent of your sin. You must turn from your sin. The same man that a minute ago was a caterpillar is now a dinosaur. So Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world. The Lord Jesus went to the cross of Calvary. He was nailed to the cross of Calvary. He bled there and died. He was raised up between the heavens and the earth. He who was pure, he who was perfect, he who was the sinless, spotless Lamb of God paid the penalty for sin. That whosoever believeth on him, on Jesus Christ, should not perish. But have everlasting life, and the Lord Jesus will save you from your sin, and the Lord Jesus will have mercy on you. You have an undying soul. If you don't know Jesus Christ, you're in your sins, and God will send you to hell. Okay, what makes a person a Christian? Well, a lot of people believe in God who aren't Christians. You have to know Jesus Christ. You have to come to Jesus Christ. Jesus, after all, was the one who initiated Christianity. So we should believe what He says. And He says, whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. So we must know Jesus Christ. And if you know Him, you have that salvation. Thank you. Lord, have mercy upon that family and I pray that they would find a deeper and a better understanding of the truth. Jesus died on the cross. Jesus Christ paid the penalty for sin and laid down his life so that whosoever believeth on him should not perish but have everlasting life. That is why we must go to Jesus. Look what God has done. Look at the mercy found in Jesus Christ. Look at the salvation that God has wrought, the goodness that comes from God. The mercy found in Jesus Christ. Now the Bible says God is not mocked. Whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. God is not mocked. Some of you will look at the cross and say, well, if Jesus died for sinners, then I can come to him when I choose, and I can do what I like, and sin is trivial. But that's not true, my friends. One sin would drag you down to hell for eternity. God is a purer eyes than to behold iniquity. God is a holy God, a God who hates sin, a God who says that the wicked shall be turned into hell. Luke 6, 27, 28. What does it say? Sorry, I should keep preaching because people are listening. I'm listening. Are you a Christian? Yeah, I'm listening. Thank you very much. I'll look it up later but I've got to keep preaching because I mustn't be stopped from what I'm saying. Really? Yeah, really. I'm talking to unbelievers. Which one is that one? This is the King James Version. Sorry, thank you. Thank you for talking, my friend. I'm sorry, I'm sorry. This is John chapter 1, yes. I'm awfully sorry to be so rude. Thank you for talking to me. It's not rude, but I wanted to give you a special also for Lukas. OK. I'll come and give you. Thank you, my friend. Look here, Lukas 6, 27, 28. OK. I feel bad, but as I say, when people are listening, I need to keep preaching. Just keep doing what you're doing. It's good. It's good news to the world. 27 and 28, you said? Yes, 6. So, but I say unto you which hear, love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, bless them that curse you and pray for them which... No, only Jesus could tell us that. Only the Lord Jesus could tell us that. Yeah, this one is a script that comes every day on my phone. Yes, yes, yes, yes, that's right. But it's fine. The Lord bless you. Thank you for talking to me. Thank you. Bye bye. Thank you. So Jesus Christ was perfect and pure and holy. And only someone who was perfect and pure and holy could be a sacrifice for our sins. You couldn't die for somebody else's sins. You couldn't give yourself for your own sins. You cannot save yourself. But the Lord Jesus, who was pure, who was lovely, who was holy, who was righteous, who was eternal because He is God, and who was man also, who always pleased His Father in heaven, He could be a sacrifice for sin. He could lay down His life for sins. He could give Himself for sin. Because He was perfect and pure. And Jesus Christ was taken and nailed up between the heavens and the earth. The Lord Jesus was raised up between the heavens and the earth. And the Bible says, Cursed is everyone that is nailed to a tree. So Jesus became a curse. He who was pure. He who was lovely. He who was righteous. He who was holy. He who was good. He who never sinned. He who always loved his Father with all his heart, with all his soul, with all his mind and with all his strength. He became a curse for us. And he was the sin bearer. And he died to save his people. He died in the place of sinners. He loved sinners and gave himself for them. And that's why the Scripture says, how much greater condemnation do you think you will deserve if you reject so great a salvation? Here is the Lord Jesus dying on the cross. Here is the Lord Jesus suffering the punishment for sin. Here is God the Father punishing and pouring out His wrath and exhausting His infinite wrath against sin in Jesus Christ. And you will not have Him, and you will not receive Him, and you will not repent and turn from your sins, and believe on Him to the saving of your soul. Of how much greater judgment then do you think you will be worthy of, if you do not repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ according to these Scriptures. Now God commands all men, that is all people everywhere, to repent. to acknowledge your sins, to acknowledge the holiness, majesty, righteousness and power of Almighty God, to repent of your sins, to acknowledge that Jesus is the only one that can cleanse you from your sin, to acknowledge that the blood of Jesus Christ and the blood of Jesus Christ alone is that means whereby sin is cleansed. We read that in 1 John chapter 1 verse 7. The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. Now, when it talks about the blood of Jesus Christ, it means His death, His sacrifice, which was made once for all on the cross of Calvary. In the Catholic Church, they believe there is an ongoing sacrifice. That is wrong, that is false, that is fraudulent. In fact, the 39 articles of the Church of England tell us that the Mass is a blasphemous fable, a dangerous deceit. There is no ongoing sacrifice. No man has the power to turn bread into the body of Christ. No man has the power to turn wine into the blood of Christ. Jesus Christ is seated on the throne of heaven until that day when he will be revealed on the clouds of heaven and he returns. He made one sacrifice, once for all, 2,000 years ago. He died upon the cross of Calvary. He made a sacrifice for sin. He cried out in Greek, Tetelestai, which means, it is finished. The work that Jesus Christ came to do was finished on that cross. The Lord Jesus came into the world to seek and to save that which was lost. Tetelestai, it is finished. He purchased his people with his own precious blood. He completed the work. He did the work that God gave him to do. He laid down his life. He gave himself a sacrifice for sin. He became what we call a propitiation for sin. He quenched, he endured and he quenched the wrath of God against sin. And he was laid in a grave, and death could not hold him. And on the third day, Jesus Christ was raised from the dead by the power of Almighty God. The Lord Jesus Christ, raised from the dead. He is not dead, he is risen and I have said this in many towns and cities. I said that I worked in the National Health Service for about 30 years and during that time I watched many, many people die and occasionally I saw a few whose hearts had stopped and their hearts were restarted. But I can tell you this, with all our technology, with all our doctors, with all our medications, with all our nurses, I have never seen a resurrection from the dead. Yet Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. This gospel is for you, my friend. And if you believe this gospel, God will have mercy on you and save you from your sins. No, in our National Health Service, which is known as the national religion, I have never seen a resurrection. But 2,000 years ago, that tomb was empty. When Jesus' disciples came to the tomb early in the morning on the first day of the week, they saw angels who said, why seek ye the living amongst the dead? He is not here, he is risen. Jesus Christ died for sinners. Jesus Christ raised from the dead by the power of God. Hello. Would you like a drink of coffee or water? It's extraordinarily nice of you to ask, but I'm going to keep going. That's all right. Thank you so much. I'm great, thanks, but that's very kind of you to ask. Do you know the Lord Jesus? He's the best. He's the saviour of the world. Amen. I'm going to keep going. Thank you for that encouragement, sister. The Lord bless you. Thank you. It's so nice when somebody offers that, and it's done in the name of the Lord as well, and the Lord of course remembers that. So it is a hot day. Jesus Christ was raised from the dead by the power of Almighty God. He is not dead, he is risen. Now if Jesus is resurrected, something which medicine cannot do, something which modern medicine cannot do. Sometimes you read of people who die or are thought to be dead and they're put in hospital morgues but they're not really dead. And they open the morgue and they find that somebody's still alive. Shock, horror, that's a terrible thing to happen. Or they're buried and they hear scratching and tapping because the person they put in a coffin and buried wasn't dead. But Jesus had been dead for three days. He had been declared dead by the Romans. They had put a spear in His side. And after three days He was raised from the dead by the power of Almighty God. The Lord Jesus is not dead. The Lord Jesus Christ is risen from the dead by the power of Almighty God. He is risen from the dead. He is alive today. He is the Saviour of the world. And He will deliver you from the wrath to come. You see, somebody who's dead can't save us. Somebody who's dead can't help us. The Bible says that Jesus, rising, justified. Everything that Jesus says is true. Jesus said, I am the way and the truth and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by me. And Jesus Christ came into the world to seek and to save that which was lost. Sinners like you and me, sinners who are helpless and powerless, all the power that we need for salvation, forgiveness of sins and the salvation of our souls is found in Jesus Christ. And He will receive you and He will have mercy on you. Repent of your sin. Repent of your lies. Repent of your sexual immoralities. Repent of your drunkenness. Repent of your idolatry. Repent of your pride and your hatred and your jealousy and your anger without a cause. Repent of your godlessness, your unholiness. Repent of your stealing and your thefts. Repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Now, I remind you that in the Bible, when Jesus was crucified, when the Lord Jesus Christ was crucified, that there were two thieves that died, one on his right hand and one on his left. One of those thieves cursed him, but the other said to him, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom. And Jesus said to him, I tell you the truth, this day thou shalt be with me in paradise. One of those thieves perished and is in hell today. One of those thieves believed, was saved, was forgiven, and is in heaven today, is in paradise today, with the Lord Jesus Christ. And the only difference is what they did with Jesus Christ. But the Bible says, what will you do in the end? What will you do? Will you repent? Will you turn? Will you confess your sins to Almighty God? Will you look to the blood of Jesus Christ alone to save you from your sin? Or will you die? Will you perish in your sins? Oh my dear friends, there is a wrath to come. There is a hell to come. There is a damnation to come. There is a day when God will judge everyone, the living and the dead. I don't have any poems. Do you have any poems? Yes, well the Psalms are a verse, aren't they? So, let me read you some of the Psalms here. You should read the Psalms for yourself, you should read the Bible for yourself. I did a couple of times. Well... Let the Lord be my shepherd, do that one. OK, I'll read Psalm 23 to you, sir. And it's... If I go to Psalm 23, because it's talking about the Lord Jesus, isn't it? It's talking about what Jesus does for people and how the Lord Jesus saves sinners. The Lord Jesus is on the throne of heaven today and very soon, very soon Jesus will return on the clouds of heaven. So we read. Jesus is God and in the Bible we read about Jesus' death. I can't tell you that. Psalm of David, Psalm 23. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul. He leadeth me in the paths of righteousness, for his name's sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff, they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies. Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever. Now you can't know that if you don't know Jesus Christ. You see, the Lord is my shepherd. But when Jesus is your Lord, all of these words apply to you. Sorry, I'm putting labels on things. No, no labels. I'm a Christian. OK, what makes you a Christian? What makes you a Christian? Well, I actually got christened, I suppose, I don't know. No, that was instilled, wasn't it? OK, a person becomes a Christian when they repent of their sin towards God and they believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. I ain't got no chance, Bab. I ain't got no chance. I'm going to the op place. You don't want to go there. Believe me, you don't want to go there. No, I don't want to go there, but I ain't going to have to go there. Jesus Christ will deliver you from all your sin and the Lord Jesus Christ will become your... I don't believe he's going to listen though. He will. He'll have me down as a dodgy one. There is nobody... He'll have me down as a dodgy one. We're all dodgy because of sin. There's not a single person here today that isn't dodgy because of sin. You're not sin, Casavristo. But Jesus will have mercy on you and forgive you through his death. Are you a Jehovah's Witness? No, I'm not a Jehovah's Witness. Thank God for that at least! The Jehovah's Witnesses deny that Jesus is God, but the Bible teaches that Jesus is God. You know, I get confused with the three of them. So if you find Jesus, sir, you will find the salvation that comes from Almighty God. And if you find that salvation, you have everlasting life. Jesus has never turned away anyone that came to him. And if you go to Jesus, he won't turn you away. The Bible's full of that. Jesus said, come unto me, all you who are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. The Apostle Paul said, this is a faithful saying and worthy of all acceptation. He said that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. And Paul added, of whom I... He said, OK, because I know Jesus, because I love Jesus, because Jesus has saved me from my sin, even though I'm a great sinner. And Paul added, Jesus came into the world to save sinners of whom I am chief. Now, if the Apostle Paul was the chief of sinners, then Jesus can save the chief of sinners. And if Jesus can save the chief of sinners, he can save you and he can save me. And he has saved me. I believed on the Lord Jesus. I've been a Christian for 41 years. But I was saved 41 years ago. I haven't lost my salvation. I was saved the day I believed in Jesus. So if I die today, I know Jesus Christ, I'm under, I'm saved by the grace of God and by the mercy of God. I have the salvation that comes from Almighty God and I am saved from my sins. So if you find the Lord Jesus... Can I just say, my Christian name is Paul. Hello Paul, I'm David, nice to meet you. My name is David. Yeah, so I've got some Gospels here that I'd like to give you one. No, that's fine, but... But read the Bible for yourself. I will, I will. Call on the name of the Lord, sir. I had a Gideon one, but I don't know. Call on the name of the Lord Jesus. Call on the name of the Lord Jesus, sir, and he will save you. These damn people don't know the way. I think they're listening. So Jesus Christ is the Saviour of the world, and those who put their trust in Jesus will never be put to shame. We read Psalm 23, which said, The Lord is my shepherd. Those words apply to the person who knows the Lord. Jesus Christ is Lord. And when a person... when the person... Comes to know Jesus Christ, they know the great shepherd of the sheep. Jesus said, my sheep hear my voice and they follow me. Jesus is that great shepherd who goes to the ends of the earth to find the lamb, the sheep that was lost, and he brings it home rejoicing. The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. Is the Lord Jesus Christ your shepherd? Is he the one who cares for you? Who looks after you? Is he the shepherd of your soul? You know that bishops in the Church of England carry a crook because they're meant to represent shepherds. And yet today many, many of those bishops deny the truth. They deny what Jesus said. I'll give you an example. The Archbishop of York has said that we can no longer pray, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name, because to pray our Father is extremely problematic, he said. Well, he is not a shepherd, he is a fraudulent shepherd, a false shepherd, a blind leader of the blind, a wolf in sheep's clothing. Jesus said that we should pray our Father who art in heaven. That man carries a crook, claiming to be a shepherd, following in the footsteps of the great shepherd, the Lord Jesus Christ. But he is a false shepherd. And again I point you to the area just beyond the cathedral here in Gloucester where you will find the John Hooper memorial, a man who was a faithful shepherd, a man who taught this gospel, a man who lifted up his voice to preach that salvation is found in Jesus Christ alone and not in any of the magic or any of the superstition of the Church of Rome. Because the Pope and his minions have departed from the Bible, and they have departed from the words of God. But a true shepherd preaches the Gospel of Jesus Christ. A true shepherd points men and women and children to Jesus Christ. And that's what John Hooper did, and that's what I'm here to do today, to tell you that Jesus is the Great Shepherd of our souls. That Jesus is the One who calls us to Him. Jesus is the One who loved sinners and gave Himself to sinners. And that man said to me, he said, well I'm dodgy, why should Jesus accept me? There is nobody who has ever, ever come to Jesus Christ, nobody who has come to Jesus Christ who has been rejected by Him. And you may say, will Jesus accept me? Why should Jesus accept me? There is no reason why Jesus should accept you. Jesus accepts those who come to Him. There is no one who comes to Jesus who is worthy of Him. Everyone who comes to Jesus is unworthy. But Jesus never turns anyone away. And He has never turned anyone away from that salvation and that life, eternal life, that is promised in Him. You are on the road to hell. The fires of hell are before you. The mouth of hell is open to you. Your feet are in slippery places. Sooner or later your feet will slip and you will precipitate without remedy into those fires forever. And the only way that you can escape from the wrath to come and the fires of hell is to avail yourselves of the salvation that has graciously been revealed to us by Almighty God. And that salvation is in Jesus Christ. And He will have mercy on you. And He will save you. And He will deliver you. And He will give you new life. He will transform you by His power. He will save you in His mercy, in His love, in His grace. If you come to Jesus, He will accept you and receive you as you are. He will cleanse you in His blood. He will give you life. He will make you a new creature. You will be born again by His Holy Spirit. But if you will not have Jesus Christ to reign over you, there is nowhere in heaven and earth and hell where you can flee from Him. There is nowhere you can go, nowhere you can hide. Because you love darkness you will hide from God, but you cannot hide from God. Your sins will find you out. There is a wrath to come, there is a judgement to come, there is a day to come when God, which God has appointed, in the which He will judge the world by that man whom He has appointed by Jesus Christ. And Jesus Christ will either be your Saviour forever, from all of your sin, to everlasting life. Or He will be your judge forever to everlasting torment in hellfire. What is it to be? You have a soul. Death is not the end. After death comes judgement. You have a soul. You are not just a body. You are not just a chemical process. You have a soul. And Jesus said, what will you give in exchange for your soul? What would it profit a man if he were to gain the whole world and lose his soul? There is a Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. We must flee to Him, we cannot be saved apart from Him. There is a wrath to come, there is a judgement to come, there is a hell to come. But there is also a salvation to come, a mercy to come, eternal life to come to those who know Jesus Christ. If you find Jesus, sir, you'll find life. Jesus is the saviour of the world. Jesus is the one who will deliver you. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believeth on him should not perish but have everlasting life. Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall have life to the glory of God the Father. Amen. Amen. Hi, I just wanted to shake your hand and say thank you. Is this your daughter? Yes. Lovely. Thank you. Thank you. Hello. Hello. Okay, the Lord bless you both. Thank you. It's really very bad. I was about to say it. You just have to talk to them. You've got to speak to me earlier on the radio. All I've really done now, I've been living in a pub. I've been living in a pub. I've been living in a pub.
Gospel Preaching in Gloucester
Series Open Air Gospel
Having visited the Hooper Memorial I then preached in the City Centre. I am aware that there are those who preach there regularly, whereas the last time that I was there was in 2010. I pray that their witness would bear fruit.
