I'm not reflecting the love of
God. And you are, with your anger. Have you helped at the food bank,
sir? No sir, no ma'am. Well, there
you go! He don't do anything to help people. That's not my
colleague. My colleague's a preacher of the gospel. Oh, shut up. Shut
up, old man. Oh dear. I get them every... I get them every... I get them
every day. I get them every day. Is that
part of the parcel? Oh, yes. Yeah, that's right. Goes with the territory, as they
say. Welcome, Islets. Delighted to
be back in your city once again to bring the good news of the
Gospel to you. It is good news. You know, a
lady took exception to my sign there, which of course is from
God's Word, the Bible. If you'd like to read it for
yourself, give you a copy, you can check it out. But it is actually
from the Bible that God is angry with the wicked every day. She
takes exception. I don't know why, because, well,
that would be evidence that God is love, wouldn't it? I mean,
the Bible does say God is love. And of course, well, you know,
somebody who loves is somebody who's angry with wickedness,
you know. I mean, parents, grandparents,
in Carlyle today, have you ever been angry with your children,
your grandchildren? Of course you have. Why? Because you've seen them involved
in wickedness, doing something that would harm them, and you
get angry with them. Why? Because you hate them? No,
because you love them. You see, that's why God is angry
with the wicked every day, because somebody who loves hates wickedness,
and God hates wickedness. But the good news is, of course,
that God has done something about the wickedness. He has sent His
only begotten Son into the world that through Him, people who
are involved in wickedness, that they might be changed, that they
might be transformed by the love of God. So, you see, we need
to know both. We need to know about God's anger
concerning wickedness, and we need to help, you know, we need
to avail ourselves of the means by which we can be restored,
you know, we can be forgiven, and we can be brought to knowledge
of God's love and His anger removed from us. So anyway, Word of God,
offered to you quite freely, no cost, no obligation to you. If you would like to have a copy
of God's Word, then please do come and ask for one. Freely
offered to you. freely receive the Word of God,
able to make you wise for salvation, it says, and of course, able
to bring you to a knowledge, not just head knowledge, just
not knowing, but to an experience of the great love of God, that
love that motivates God to be angry with the wicked every day. So, you see, my friends, the
gospel is good news. It's the good news about God's
love in sending His only begotten Son into the world, that through
Him that men and women might not perish, the Bible says, but
that they might have everlasting life. And of course while that
happens, you know what the Bible says, by what I'm doing here
today, by the preaching of the gospel, the Bible poses one or
two questions pertaining to this. It says that, that whosoever
shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Now, of
course, the call upon the name of the Lord, well, we must need,
we need faith to do that. And how do we get faith? How
do we get saving faith? Well, by hearing the word of
God. So faith cometh by hearing, and
hearing by the word of God. And how shall you hear, says
God, unless he sends a preacher to tell you. So you see God,
again you see more evidence of God's love. More evidence of
the immensity of the love of God. Here we are, we're all sinners. Bible says so, you can argue
if you like, but you're arguing against God. He says all who
sin, yourself, myself included, every man, woman, and child born
into this world, all have sinned and come short. glorious standard
that God has set for us. We've all failed to reach the
target, we've set up our own targets, we've ignored the standard
that God has set for us, and so therefore we've all failed,
we've all sinned and come short of the glory of God. And God
would have been quite justified, of course, well, in packing us
all, every single one of us, off to hell and, you know, just
discarding us all together. No pressure on God, just out
of the mere good pleasure of His love, His grace, His mercy,
He has done something about our fallen condition, sending His
only begotten Son into the world that through Him that you, a
sinner, might be saved. And of course, well, making that
knowledge known, because there's many people, I dare say, in the
city of Carlisle, just like everywhere else in the country and in the
world, many, many people who have no knowledge of the things
of God, no knowledge of what God is, what He's like, no knowledge
of themselves, what they're truly like. We go about with this notion,
don't you know, that we're all good people, and I'm respectable,
you know, and keep a clean house, teach my children not to lie,
etc. You know, I'm a good person,
you know, respectable. Oh, it's respected in the community. How could God possibly have an
issue against me? Well, you see, that's a false
notion that many people have about themselves. Not good people
at all. In fact, God says there's none
good. He says there's none that do us good. Some people, they
claim, well, I just do good work. Well, God says there's none who
does good. Because you see, everything that
we do, because we're sinners by nature, sinners by practice,
everything that we do is tainted with sin. So there's no such
a thing as a good work. None righteous have God, not
one. So there's some things that we need to know before we can
come to a knowledge, experiential knowledge that is, of God's love. We need to know that one, we've
got bad heads. We need our heads informing,
our minds informing. We need to know the truth, the
truth that God has given to us in his word, the Bible. In his
love, he has given us his instruction manual, you might say, his guidance,
the message of salvation, the promise that whoever believes
in Jesus shall not be condemned, but saved and brought to a knowledge
of God's love. So you see, we've got bad heads,
we've got bad hearts. Our hearts are full of the poison
of sin. They need to be changed, transformed,
changed from the inside out. Religion, you see, that will
change you on the outside, but only Jesus can change you on
the inside. That's why he says in the Bible,
talking to one religious man, he said to him, you must be born
again. Except the man be born again,
he cannot see the kingdom of God. So what does he mean by
being born again? Not physically, that's for sure.
an impossibility. No, no, no, no. What he means
is a supernatural, miraculous operation of God through what
I'm doing here today, preaching the gospel. God, by His Spirit,
puts His, puts His life into the souls of men and women, puts
His love into their hearts. You see, we're all of us, God
says in his word, we're all of us, dead in our trespasses and
sins, no life, no spiritual life in us, no life with God, none
whatsoever. need to be made not religious,
but made again, resurrected, regeneration, making alive. That's what's required. You must
be born again, God giving his life into your dead soul, and
his love into your heart. Then everything changes. A new
creation made all over again. The Bible God says that's what
matters. That's all that matters is a
new creation that you've been made all over again. Another
man, another woman. because you see the way we are
as we come into the world, conceived in sins as God, born in sin,
living in sin, and the majority is sad to say they die in that
sinful condition and go to a lost eternity unless the grace of
God intervenes, breaks into the heart and mind, changes and transforms
us. Something that only God can do,
not us. Oh, we can do religion. You can
join a church, synagogue, a mosque, a temple. You can make yourself
religious. You don't need God's help for
that. But God assures us it is one that nobody but nobody will
ever be saved, ever come to a right knowledge of himself and of his
love by their own doing. We can only be saved by the operations
of God himself. intervening in the preaching
of the gospel, so you see another evidence of God's love, in that
he sends his servant to bring the gospel, to bring the good
news to you, to inform you, bring the knowledge of God's salvation
to you. Once a day, of course, in our
land, I went, men and women, pretty much well knew the facts
of the gospel, knew the truth of God's word, but that's no
longer the case. Now we're like a third world
country. All the knowledge of God in the
land has been erased from people's hearts and minds. And so, unless
God's servants come to you, unless God sends His servants to you
in His love to declare the message of God's salvation to you, to
tell you about Jesus, the one who is mighty to save, the one
who has done everything necessary in order for you to enter into
God's salvation and to come to an experience, of the, oh I tell
you, immense, the vast love of God that sadly, sadly many people
reject, sadly many people despise the Son of God, the one who is
able to bring to them love and life and lasting joy. No, rather
you go to the broken systems of this world and you drink your
fill, but do you find what you're looking for? You turn to the
drugs, the alcohol, the immorality, the music, all the razzmatazz
of the world. But do you find love? No. No. You have a world that speaks
and sings about love, but can't define the word. They don't know
what it is. What is love? Love is God sending
His Son to die on a cross. to die on that cross for vile
sinners, ruined, lost, and undone by their own sins. God so loved
the world. That's the evidence of the love
of God in sending His Son to die on that cross in order that
you might be forgiven and restored to the favor, the grace, and
the love of God. But you go to the broken systems
of this world and you drink your fill. Do you find love there? No, you don't. Do you find life
there? No, you don't. Do you find lasting
joy? No, you don't. You come away
from them as miserable as ever you were before. Because you
see, only in Jesus is to be found love, everlasting love that is. Only in Jesus is to be found
life, eternal life that is. Only in Jesus is to be found
lasting joy. A joy I give, says Jesus, that
no man can take from you. No circumstance can rob you of
it. A joy, I tell you, that knows
no limit, a lightness in your spirit. Through trusting in Jesus,
coming with your bad head to God's heart, God's word, and
being instructed by God. following his instructions. Let the wicked forsake his way,
and the unrighteous man his thoughts. Change of thinking, change of
mind. You begin to align your thoughts
with God's thoughts. Think his thoughts after him.
Agree with him in other words, about himself, his holiness,
his love. And of course, agreeing with
God concerning yourself, that you're a sinner on the wrong
side of God. And of course agreeing with God
that you need saving that you need his son more than you need
to breathe So you see my friends A good head, the head needs to
be put right, clothed in your right mind, sitting at the feet
of Jesus, and being instructed by Him. My sheep, they hear my
voice, He says, they follow me, and I give unto them eternal
life. But you've got to sit at the
feet of Jesus, and you've got to learn of Him, you've got to
be instructed by Him, taught by Him, taught by God, in other
words. Talk about the love of God. Talk
about the grace of God that brings salvation to men and women, to
those who believe that is, to those who trust in the Son of
God, to those who love Him and trust Him. He gives eternal life
and He gives to them everlasting life. So the bad head, the bad
head needs sorting. Then of course there's the bad
heart. The heart is deceitful above all things and desperately
wicked, desperately so. You deceive your own self, delude
yourself with many things in this modern society of yours. Oh, all the culture vultures,
if they get hold of you, eh? All the delusions that they'll
put into you, eh? Giving you this delusion to know
that a male can become a female and vice versa. What utter insanity,
I ask you. Such delusion come from God,
I tell you, to those who will not, do not receive a love of
the truth. So you see, my friends, the heart
is deceitful. We're deceived by ourselves.
We're deceived by false religion. We're deceived by the philosophies
of man. We're deceived by the culture
vultures. We're deceived by Many, many
things. The heart is deceitful. And a
deceitful heart will always gravitate towards that which is deceitful. Towards that which is false.
So the heart needs to be changed. The head needs to be informed.
The heart needs to be changed. That deceitful heart needs to
be transformed. And only Jesus can do that for
you. But that's why He came. In love
He came. and love he died, and love he
rose again from the dead, in order that a sinful heart like
yours might be changed, might be altered. The deceitful is
taken out of it, given a true and noble heart, given a heart
that loves the truth and hates the lie. But as you come into
the wild, natural barn, sinners, well, you're bent, as you see,
towards the lie. You believe the lie, the lie
that there is no God, the lie that you are no sinner, the lie
that there's no heaven, no hell. Lie, you believe the lie, you
live out of the lie, and of course the consequences of that is the
brokenness of your society and is it today. Every department
of it, I say to you, from the top to the bottom of your society,
utterly, absolutely broken because of man's sin. because of man's
bad heart, because we deceive ourselves, because we have deceitful
hearts, because we believe the lie and live out of the lie unless
Jesus changes your heart, gives you a new heart. gives you a
new start. Born again, he says, except a
man be born again. He cannot see because he's got
a bad heart. He's got a blinded mind and a
blinded heart. Can't see afar off, and the Bible
says. Can't see the nose in front of
you. Can't see plain evidence that
God is because of all the things that He has made. You know that
God is, but you suppress with your deceitful heart. You suppress
that truth in unrighteousness, in wickedness, in rebellion against
God. That's the heart of man. That's
the natural heart. of men and women born into this
world. So the mind needs to be informed. The bad head needs to be fixed. The bad heart needs to be mended. Heart surgery, not religion. That won't do it, my friend.
All that does is changes the outside. It's the inside that's
the problem. Out of the heart proceedeth evil
thoughts, says Jesus. Thoughts of blasphemy and murder,
immorality of all kinds. That's what comes out of sinful
hearts. That's what makes a person unkind,
defiled and unacceptable to God. It's a heart condition that only
Jesus himself can mend. He's the master surgeon, don't
you know? He is able He is able to open
up the heart, let out the poison of sin, and bind it up again,
heal it, put His love into it first, of course, so that you
love the truth, hate the lie, love God, love your neighbor,
instead of hating God and hating your neighbor. From your heart,
a bad heart, bad head, bad heart, But then you've got a bad record
as well. You've got a record of sin because
you've been sinning since the day that you were born. In fact,
you were conceived in sin. That's where your sin career
began, at that moment when you were conceived in your mother's
womb. That's when you became a sinner.
That's when your life began. Contrary to the abortionists,
that's where life begins, at the moment of conception. And
you're conceived in sin, and then nine months later you're
born in sin. and you live in it all your days
and then go to a lost eternity unless that is God intervenes
by His Son Jesus Christ and performs this heart surgery upon you,
changes your nature, gives you a deals with your bad head, instructs
you, informs you, gives you a good heart, deals with your bad heart,
and deals with your bad record, sinning all your day, every single
day of your life. Nothing but sin coming out, one
after the other, thoughts, words, actions, motives, everything
about you. Just walking, talking, breathing,
sinners. That's all that you are. And so, the record, the record,
the bad record, it needs to be clear. even though, just imagine
for a moment, that you could say, well, from now on I'll be
good, from now on I'll obey God's law, I'll do everything He tells
me to do, I'll be perfectly good from now on. That's an impossibility,
but just imagine for a moment, you could, you could, you've
got the past lying behind you, you've got a record of sin, And
of course, the longer you've been living, well, the worse
that record is. That needs to be cleared. That
needs to be dealt with. And there's only one way that
can be dealt with, cleared that is, and that is by the death
of God's Son, Jesus Christ. So I came into the world, came
into the world specifically, and the Bible says, God so loved
the world that He gave His only begotten Son, gave Him that is,
gave Him to die on that cross, to shed His blood, to take the
curse that lies upon the sinner, lift it off of Him, take the
wrath due to the sinner because of their bad record, clear it,
The blood of God's Son, Jesus Christ, cleanses from all sin,
washes and makes clean. So unless you've been to Jesus
for the cleansing power, unless you're washed in the blood of
the Lamb, that record stands. Bad head, bad heart, bad record,
all stashed up against you. Not got much going for you, I
tell you. Well, not without God, not without
His love, not without His Son, not without Jesus Christ. Because
without Him you cannot be saved. He's the only mediator between
God and man. He's the only fixer. He's the
only one who can fix your bad head. He's the only one who can
fix your bad heart. He's the only one who can fix
your bad record. He's the only one who can clear
you before the judgment throne of God. And of course, well,
I have to tell you, you know, that day, that day is coming.
The day has been appointed, the Bible says, when God will judge
all the world, every man, woman, and child, that is, judged by
the man that He has appointed, His Son, Jesus Christ, He will
be your judge. either your Savior, either your
Deliverer, or one day He will be your Judge. He will condemn
you to the uttermost. Today He's the Lamb of God, which
taketh away the sin of the world, and would take away your sin.
Should you trust in Him, should you love Him and believe in Him,
your bad head, your bad heart, your bad record would all be
dealt with. You would be saved, salvation.
But if you do not believe, will not believe, do not repent, do
not turn in faith to the Son of God, well, the day is coming
when you will, with many, many others. You'll be calling the
rocks and the mountains down to hide you from the very presence
of the Lamb of God. Lamb of God who would take the
sin away, one day will be the fearful, dreadful Lamb of God
who will judge you in that day, judge you in perfect righteousness. Everything you ever did, No blame
shifting then, no excuses then. Well, I didn't mean it. It was
his fault. It was somebody else. Was it
my fault? I didn't mean to do it. It will
be clearly seen in that day, your every motive for everything
that you did, even the so-called good things that you did. It
will be shown in that day you did it for nobody else but your
own selfish ends. In that day when God judges men,
their wickedness in His anger and wrath, I tell you, everything
that you ever did will be published across the entire universe for
all to see, covered in shame and disgrace. but whosoever shall
call upon the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, that is, shall
be saved, shall not be ashamed, shall not be disappointed, shall
not be condemned. Whosoever believeth in the Son
of Jesus is not condemned, but whosoever believeth not is condemned
already. Already under the condemnation
of God. Already under the wrath of God. It's the truth of God's Word.
He's angry with the wicked every day. But in His love He has done
something. Something phenomenal. Something,
my friends, that you need to believe. Perhaps today to you
unbelievable, but believe, believe, only believe, says Jesus. If
you can't believe, all things are possible to the one who believes. Believes in Jesus that is the
one who can deal with your bad head your bad heart your bad
record Save you to the uttermost all those who come to God by
Jesus Christ salvation forgiveness pardon for sins righteousness
Jesus on that cross from the believer, the one who truly believes
in Him. He takes what's theirs, He takes
their sins, and He gives to them His righteousness, His perfect
righteousness, so that on that day of judgment, not a day of
condemnation anymore, but a day of commendation. Well done, my
good and faithful servant. He will say to you on that day,
But now is the time. Oh, now is the accepted time,
says God. God's accepted time, not yours. You say, oh, maybe tonight. You
haven't got tonight. Oh, maybe you say tomorrow. Tomorrow
I'd think about it. Maybe, well, I'm an old man,
an old woman. Maybe then, maybe then I'll think
about it. In my time, my accepted time. Then I'll think about it. Nor
says God. Now is the accepted time, God's
accepted time, when you hear the gospel, when you hear the
good news of God's love, when you hear the overtures of God's
love, when you hear the gospel, the glad tidings that there is
a Savior, one who is able, able to deal with, remove, take God's
anger from off you, break the chains that bind you, set you
free from the sin and give to you that, oh that love, that
love that you've perhaps searched for all your life and never found
and never will unless and until you come to Jesus. Love everlasting,
love that never ends, love never to be taken from you ever again. Life eternal, eternal life welling
up within you. The water that I shall give you
to drink, says Jesus, will well up within you. into everlasting
life. Come to Jesus. Drink at the fountain
of life. That's what the gospel's about.
Not religion but life. Life from the dead. Life everlasting. Life eternal. My sheep hear my
voice and they follow me and I give unto them eternal life
and they shall never perish. Never. Whosoever believeth shall
not perish, but have everlasting life. Whoever believes in Jesus
is not condemned, the condemnation is taken away. Love and life
and lasting joy. Lasting joy, not the joy that
comes from a moment's simple pleasure and then leaves you
wrecked and ruined and miserable. No, a lasting joy, a joy that
never comes to an end. Unspeakable joy, I tell you. Found in Jesus, but only, only
in Jesus. Nowhere else, not in the Pope
of Rome, not in Mohammed, not in Buddha, not in Confucius. Nowhere else. Only in Jesus. Only He can give you these things.
But that's what He came for. I didn't come to destroy man's
life. I didn't come to kill. I didn't
come to condemn, He said. I came to save. I came that they
might have life and have it more abundantly. Is that you today? I don't see much of it on the
streets of Carlisle today. As I look around me, all I can
see is a bunch of miserable sinners. I don't see much joy, can't see
much life. Abundant life, is that you? That's what Jesus came to give
to sinful men and women. Love. Love beyond degree, love
immense and free. Grace of God, free. The free
gift of God, the wages of sin is dead, but the gift of God,
the free gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ. My
Lord, whom I declare to you today, Jesus is Lord. The Bible says
so. He is risen from the dead and
He is Lord. That's why He's Lord, because
He's conquered sin and death and hell. You can't say that
about the Pope. You can't say that about the
Habit. No, you cannot. Jesus Christ is Lord. Why? Because He's risen from the dead. He's alive and alive forevermore. And He gives life to those who
come to Him, who trust in Him, who love Him. That's what's required
of you. That you should bow down before
Him, worship and adore Him. He's the King. He's the King
of glory. He's the King of kings. He has
a throne. His throne is a cross. You come
to that cross with your sins. You come to the cross with it
all. And you prostrate yourself before
Him, Jesus, King Jesus. You lay your sin before Him and
plead with Him to take them away, far far away, so far away that
God Himself cannot find them anymore. Lord Jesus, have mercy upon me,
a sinner. Cry out to him, call upon him. Whosoever shall call on the name
of the Lord shall be saved. So then, faith cometh by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God, hearing the good news of the
gospel, hearing the truth as it is in Jesus. submitting, yielding
yourself to King Jesus, bowing the knee to the Son of God, submitting,
surrendering to Him, calling upon His name, Lord Jesus, save
me or I perish. Whosoever believeth on Him, the
Son of God, shall not perish, but have Eternal life, life,
love, life, lasting joy, only the gospel, only the good news
as it is in Jesus can bring that to you. The world, just misery,
sin, more misery. Day after day, the record is
piling up, treasuring up wrath for the day of wrath until you
come to the judgment throne of God and give account for everything
you ever thought, said, and did, and give account even for this
occasion when you heard the good news of the gospel, but you would
not have it. You would not turn. You would
not repent. You would not believe. You would
not do what Jesus tells you to do. Just do what He tells you
to do. And all shall be well with your
soul. Just do what He says. What does
He say to you, Carlyle, today? He says, repent ye and believe
the Gospel. Why? Because the Kingdom of God
is at hand. And that's the only way you can
enter his kingdom. in the way of repentance, turning
from your sin, in the way of faith, believing in the Lord
Jesus Christ, in the gospel. So hear, hear His call. Hear His call today. Obey His
call. He's coming. He's coming with
His holy angels in flaming fire to take vengeance upon all that
know not God and who obey not the call of the gospel. He calls
you today, calls you apart out of your sin, out of your misery,
out from under the anger and wrath of God. He calls you. Repent ye and believe the gospel,
for the kingdom of God is at hand. Would you like to have
a copy of God's Word? study, muse, if you will, upon
the lovely person of the Lord Jesus Christ, who so loved sinners
that he came into this world to die on that cross in order
that they might be liberated, set free, mended, restored to
God and to His favor, brought out from under the wrath and
anger of God, the bad head fixed, the bad heart mended, and the
bad record cleared by the blood of the Son of God. Use upon the
person of Jesus, the lovely, lovely Savior. Come to him today,
you may, on the authority of his word. He bids you, he says,
come unto me, all ye that labor, and I will give you rest. Would
you like to have a copy of God's word? offered to you quite freely,
will cost no obligation to you, you like one, you come and ask
for one. May God bless you, Carlisle,
and have mercy, mercy I say upon your precious, precious, never,
never dying soul.
