Okay, how many are we going to
take this time? You know, which is kind of cool. She kind of got rid of all the
old stuff. Okay, that'll be for next week. Okay, Lord willing. We got to do some recruiting
on this side, guys. No, I won't even say that. Never
mind. Why throw gasoline on the fire?
OK. Well, cooler weather. August
already. Yeah. Yeah, I was going to say. Soak
up the heat, folks. This stuff's coming. Okay, so
any particular prayer requests here, Mark? Please continue to
pray for Kayla and Michael, for their relation to be restored and for me to the world. Please pray for Allie, and June,
and Jenny, as they meet between the drop-off June, for their
mercy during trouble. And pray that my mom, my neighbor, Is that the current one that
we're in? No, the last one. Oh, okay. Okay. All right. If she would listen, or if you
could set it up on your phone, all those are online if they
wanted to find it. Yeah, well, a step at a time,
right? Okay, yes, Keith? Yeah, one of
our, I guess we call them customers, the father and typical meal finish
in Newark You want to shut that door? That just means the internet
took a break. And so the camera's machine beeps
when the internet's not working. And please continue to pray for
my mom. OK. Good deal. Yes, Douglas? Just a praise. Friday, I saw
the surgeon's office, and the implant and everything is looking
good, and progress is excellent. I'm very pleased with the healing,
and I've got a green light for everything but riding on the
tractor more. You getting in out of the car
yet? Oh, okay, good, okay. We do our part, the world will
do theirs, and I feel like I've got a new lease on life. I don't
have to worry about when you're going to get your hits done,
when you're going to get your art done. I'm ready for the next
round. Got the overhaul. He's good for another 100,000
miles. We're all ready for the rapture
now, right? OK, good deal. Anything else going on? Yes,
ma'am. Thank you for Paris for saving people who were gone.
We had a great trip. Lots of great memories. OK, that's what it's
all about. You can do that remember when for a long time. And they're
old enough to remember now. OK. No, you had to. Tuesday. Yeah, I was there. Yeah, we got a few new faces
inside the building. Maybe the roof didn't fall in,
maybe they came back. So, good deal. Okay. I'll try to remember to announce
that later, but I got a note from Judy, Karen's sister. They're going to be moving her
from her current room to another, I don't know if you'd call it
wing, different area. I think where she's at considered
rehab. Medicare only pays so many days,
and then you've got to go somewhere else. So she's still going to
be in Linden Grove, but it's going to be, I think you use
the same entrance, but you're going to have to ask after Monday
or Tuesday to know for sure when she'll be going to assisted care
or something. But she's not going to get as
much physical therapy, and that's what she needs to get moving
and get strength. So, yes? Can you still please
pray for Karen and Pastor Bush? Yeah. Okay, let's pray. Heavenly Father,
we thank you for a nice day already, weather-wise, and safety here. Thank you for bringing the Zilke's
safely out to South Dakota and back. And Lord, we pray that
you'd bless our time here together as we look at your word, that
we can again, as we finish up this quarter, see how you worked
in the hearts and lives of the people of Israel, Judah. We do pray for Michael and Kayla. You'll continue to work in both
of their lives to help bring that marriage back together again.
Pray you'll give safety to Allie and June and Jenny as they meet
up and transfer June to Allie for a few days and that they'd
have a good time together. For Mark's mom, we pray that
you'd motivate her to open up this study book and to read it,
to grasp what the Bible has to say, and that even through this
study, she might be hungering and thirsting after spiritual
things and come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. We do pray for
Keith's mom as well. He'll continue to encourage her,
help her to be able to get out of the care center and also be
thinking about just more purpose in life and excited about living. For this fellow that has got
the Foot infection, we pray for a good recovery from that, that
these antibiotics would help clear up the infection. And we
thank you too for Douglas's good report from the doctor. Things
are healing up like they're supposed to and able to be a bit more
independent and do things that he's been wanting to do. We do pray for Karen Norcross,
that you'll continue to strengthen her, help her with the physical
therapy, that she'll gain strength and be able to get up and move
around and function better on her own. Pray
for continued watch care over Karen Tanaskovich. You'll guard
her against any kind of infections or problems there. encourage
her, for Lewis as well, as he seeks to help care for Karen
and Carol. Pray for Joshua that you'll work
in his life mentally, spiritually, that you bring about the needed
changes there, that you have a desire to be back with God's
people and learning and growing spiritually. Again, we ask you
to guide us in our study, we pray now in Jesus' name, amen. We can also rejoice with Tyler
and Lindsey on, Patty was saying that they able
to drop off a meal. And you know, in that picture
that I was able to send out, he looks like a pretty good sized
guy. But you get up close, he's pretty little, pretty little
guy. They seem to be doing well. So continue to pray for him.
And life will never be the same. Okay, so Titus Mark. Okay, what was it? 8 pounds plus,
22 and a half, so he's got a good start, so good deal. Alright,
so we're looking at Judah's final years, okay? And usually we're
looking at one or two, maybe three kings. And here we're looking
at like the last six. The first one that we're looking
at here is Josiah. He's the good king. He's the
guy with the white hat on. The other ones were not following
the Lord and miss out on God's blessing. on
the nation as well as their own lives. If you stop and think
about this, you've probably, either as a parent or a friend,
you've tried to talk to somebody about something that's important,
and it's just kind of bouncing off of them. You feel like you're
talking to a brick. They're not soaking up anything.
They don't seem to be all that interested. And it's a bit frustrating
because you want to help, but they don't seem to want the help. Yeah, we've all probably been
there. Well, stop and think about how frustrated, and not to say
God's frustrated, but how frustrating it could be for God as he tries
to guide us in the right direction. He's given us the book of directions,
but we don't seem to either want to open it up, read it, or if
we do, we don't want to pay attention to it. We got a better way, or
we just simply, you know, I don't, I'm not interested. I don't want
to have a part of that. And so, you know, he's got a
lot of promises. God wants to bless us, but he
can't bless disobedience. And so we see that happening
with the nation of Judah. And what holds true for them
holds true for our own nation. We stiff arm God. We can't really expect God to
be blessing us if we don't want a part of him. or we think we've
got a better idea. So we see here, first of all,
God's words is ignored as we come into this. We're looking
here in two passages, either in, and tends to kind of flip
back and forth, between 2 Kings 21, maybe we'll kind of go, I
think we're going to be in Kings most of the time. Second Kings
21, start with here. And from our last lesson, you
may remember that King Manasseh had led the country
in the wrong direction, and yet God worked in his heart and life,
turned him around, but he eventually dies. He has
a son by the name of Ammon, And whatever good things he saw taking
place in his dad's life, he pretty much does the opposite. And he,
because his dad was tearing down the idols and everything else,
he's putting them back up. And he only has a two-year reign,
and it said he really would have messed up the country had he
not been assassinated. So God saw that he was taken
out before he could cause any more harm. But he ignored God's
word. He ignored the direction that
had been given to him. He'd been given good advice by
the Lord, by his father, but he didn't want any part of it. And we'll see this a number of
times already, and a few more as we have time here today. You
can bring kids up right, and they can still make wrong choices
and go in opposite direction. And I don't know if that's, you
know, sometimes parents spend the rest of their life beating
themselves up. You know, what did I do wrong? What should I
have done differently? And all the rest of that. Thing
is, we all have our own will. And we can make wrong choices. I mean, Adam and Eve started
outright and they made wrong choices. And so people today
can make wrong choices. But here we've got Josiah comes
along and God's had made a promise that he's gonna keep the Davidic
dynasty, if you will, those in line from David on the throne. And it's kind of good, bad, or
otherwise. And there's quite a few bad ones along the way.
But now, Ammon's out of the way, and he's got an eight-year-old
son. Do you have an eight-year-old,
Michelle? Tyler's seven, okay. Okay, here's King Tyler. Don't
tell him that. He'll be wanting to start with
ice cream and work backwards. Needless to say, he didn't start
reigning and calling the shots as an eight-year-old. But again,
for the eight years that he did have with his dad, he saw it
done all wrong, and yet he turns out right. So regardless of your
heredity, you don't have to follow father, mother's footsteps. You
can choose to do things differently. He does make a right stand, follows
the Lord, He stood for righteousness, he
opposed evil. And if you're there in 1 Kings,
let's look here, 34. I'm sorry, that's in Chronicles. Go say, there is no 2 Kings 32. Well, there's so many chapters
it is covering here, but it tells us that, you know, he does oppose
evil. I mean, as an eight-year-old, he's not shaken the world just
yet, but as he continues to grow and mature, we see that he does
have more and more power, more influence. He's able to accomplish
more, and we'll see that as we go along here, and I'll try to
catch up here to the Chronicles. Okay, here we go. 34 to... There we go. And he did that
which was right in the sight of the Lord, and walked in the
ways of David his father. Okay, now David wasn't his direct
father, but a great, great grandfather here. And declined neither to
the right hand or to the left. Okay, so he wasn't veering off
course either way. He stayed true to the Lord. And
by the time he got to be 16, he's seeking the Lord. And then
as he gets to the ripe old age of 20, he's using his position
to enforce God's law against idolatry. And we see that in
the following verses where he begins to knock down the high
places or have somebody else knock them down. It says, There
in verse 3, for the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet
young, he began to seek after the God of David, his father. And in the twelfth year, he began
to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places and the
groves and the carved images and the molten images. There's
all kinds of false gods around. And so he's kind of, he's beginning
to do some house cleaning. You know, going back, a couple
of kings here, they'd closed up the temple. They hadn't been
using it. It's fallen in disrepair. Now
he's getting the priests and others kind of geared up, hiring
the carpenters and the other people that need to do the work to get the temple
back in good repair. In the process, while they're
cleaning out the temple, because again, they kind of shoved God's
stuff aside, brought in their own fake gods, idols and other
things. And so they're getting rid of
that. And in the process of kind of house cleaning, the priest
comes across a scroll. And, you know, this should have
been right out front on display and read and obeyed, but it hadn't
been. It had just been stuffed off
somewhere. And he finds it and has that
delivered to the king. Now, he could have just kind
of stuffed it away as a souvenir, you know, as an old relic of
some kind, but instead he has them read it. And he's taken to heart what
the words of this has to say. Look at 2 Chronicles 34, 19-21. It says, And it came to pass,
when the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his
clothes. And the king commanded Hilkiah
and Ahiakim, the son of Saphan, and Abaddon, the son of Micah. Okay, so it goes to the list,
and he says, verse 21, Go inquire of the Lord for me, and for them
that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of
of the book that is found, for great is the wrath of the Lord
that is poured out upon us because of our fathers have not kept
the word of the Lord to do after all that is written in this book."
So we don't know if they read, they're thinking it's probably
from the book of Deuteronomy where it tells the good stuff,
the bad stuff, how God wants to bless them, how God's going
to curse them. And he's saying, man, we're in
big trouble, you know, because we, you know, as a nation for
many years have not followed the Lord. And his response was
to rip his clothes. You know, it's a sign of mourning
and sorrow, repentance. And so he gets other people involved. There's a prophetess, Huldah,
and said that, you know, these curses that have been announced,
you know, are going to happen. They're eventually going to fall,
but you're going to be spared because you have been following
the Lord. And, And so we see here that
instead of just saying, OK, I'm going to make it through this
without the roof falling in on me, he kept at it spiritually. And he wasn't just coasting on
in from here on. And he wants other people to
hear it. And so again, he realizes there's national judgment that's
going to come. but he wants to pass it on to
the people. It's good news that he's heard
in the sense that God can hold off the judgment for a bit of
time yet, but he's got straightened around with the Lord. He wants
to get other people, like us, sharing the gospel. He wants
other people to hear about it. They call it a convocation, but
it's like a big rally and everybody's invited. And they're going to
read the scriptures. And again, they, you know, they
didn't have all that we have, you know, everybody didn't have
a phone with the scriptures on it. There wasn't one in the library
of every little city. It looks like, you know, we've
got one to work with here. And so Josiah He reads this,
he responds to it, he lets it known that he's gonna make a
covenant with the Lord, that he's gonna be obedient to this,
and he wants them to join in with him. And let's see, we're
going backwards here. 2 Kings. Let's see, where are
we at here? 23. 2 Kings 23 verse... Okay, it says 2 Kings 23.3, and the
king stood by a pillar and made a covenant before the Lord to
walk after the Lord to keep his commandments and his testimonies
and his statutes with all their heart and with all their soul
to perform the words of this covenant that were written in
the book And all the people stood to the covenant. Okay, so they're
in agreement with it. Wouldn't that be something? If
we got a president that would do that, you know, God's book
saying, you know, I'm going to follow this, you know, and I
want you to too, you know, you know, God can still bring somebody
along like that. But, you know, we're in need
of it to not just Judah back then. And so Josiah's He's committed
to be obedient to the Lord. And so he's doing what he can
to destroy, to remove all the evil elements, the pagan items
out of the temple. There in verse four, it says,
and the king commanded Hilkiah the high priest and the priests
of the second order, keepers of the doors, to bring forth
out of the temple of the Lord, all the vessels that were made
for Baal and for the grove and for the host of heaven. And he
burned them without or outside of Jerusalem in the fields of
Kidron and carried the ashes of them unto Bethel." And so
he's getting rid of the idols of Ashtaroth and all these other
evil pagan gods that people had worshiped. And, well, he goes on in verse
five talking about all the different, unto Baal, to the sun, to the
planets. I mean, there was a whole host
of gods that people were worshiping back then. And then he even goes,
this is kind of revealing too. They had their issues, with homosexuality
and what have you back then too. Verse 7, and he break down the
houses, the houses, okay, of the sodomites that were by the
house of the Lord, where the women wove hangings for the grove. Okay, so they're destroying all
this sinful stuff, trying to do what they can to clean up
the place. And he even goes up into Israel
to the northern tribes, and he destroys some of the high places,
the altars, the Jeroboam. Remember, he's the one who started
all this when he made those two golden calves for the people
to worship so they wouldn't go to Jerusalem. And that's been
around for 290 years. And he goes up there and wipes
that out as well. And so, again, he's doing all
that he can possibly do to fulfill God's word. And kind of interesting
too, as you get into, let's see, verse, we're still in 2 Kings
23. Look at verse 15 and 16. He says, moreover, the altar
was at Bethel, and that's one of Jeroboam's, and the high place
where Jeroboam, the son of Nebat, who made Israel to sin, had made
both the altar and the high place. He break it down and burned the
high place, stamped it into small powder, burned the grove, And
Josiah turned himself as he spied the sepulchers, okay, or the
graves, if you will, that were in the mount and sent and took
the bones out of the sepulcher. So these, apparently, these were
the bones of the false prophets or false priests that had been,
remember, because he got rid of all the godly prophets and
priests and put in his own to worship those two, golden calves. And they take out the bones,
they burn them on the altar, they polluted the altar according
to the word of the Lord which the man of God proclaimed, who
proclaimed these words. And so they burn up the bones
of these false priests. Now, I'm going to trade into
something. I'm not trying to stir up something. I'm just kind
of giving you my take and opinion on this, since we're not facing
it right now. But everywhere I look in Scripture,
when they're burning the bones of somebody, it's a bad guy. And that's kind of the position
I take if somebody comes to me and wants to, as opposed to,
to be cremated. Now if you happen to die and
I'm still around, I'll still have your funeral, you know.
But it seems to me, God Values the body he's gonna raise up
the body now. It's not a problem for God to
put the ashes back together again But if you look at scripture,
it's only the bad guys that whose bones are burned Okay, and I
know it's the cheap route to go. Oh look all the money we
can save that's a decision you got to make but You can't bring
that out at a funeral, so we don't have one looming ahead
of us. I'm just sharing that thought with you. So they're
doing everything they can to destroy it. I don't know if people
were coming to worship the tombs where these guys were at or what. So anyway, he's getting all the
evil he can, and now he wants to get everybody together, and
again, and to observe the Passover. And he's getting things ready
in the temple. They fixed up the place. They've
got the ark back where it's supposed to be. I don't know where that
had been put, but it's back in the holy of holies. And they're
ready for this Passover observance. It's a, I don't know how many
people we have here, but just the number of animal sacrifices,
30,000 lambs. I mean, that's a lot of lambs,
okay? And if that's like one per family,
as was the case with when the first Passover took place, that's
representing an awful lot of people. And then they had cattle
and oxen, and the Levites did more, you know, sacrifices, and
they distributed this to the people for food, and a holy feast
was taking place. We see in 2 Kings 23 verse 25, it says, and like unto him, was
there no king before him that turned to the Lord with all his
heart and with all his soul? And with all his might, according
to all the law of Moses, neither after him arose there any like
him." Okay? So he's standing out spiritually,
head and shoulders over everybody else. And his dad was a pagan
worshiper. Okay? So God doesn't, we don't
have to fall into a rut, you know, and follow the rest of
the family. We can break out of that and
choose to do things right. I'm thinking, I don't know exactly
if that's what was put on his tombstone or not, but what can people say in truth
about us? Would they be able to say, and
it may not all be put on your tombstone, but they follow the
Lord with all of their heart, you know? You know, that's what
the Lord would want really for all of us. Well, we see here
all of the kings, even when they were doing right, They get to
a point, and I don't know if it's an ego thing, or they get
kind of full of themselves and think, I'm riding high, everything's
going good, I'm making all these right decisions that I don't
need to bother God with this one. And they venture out on
their own, and it doesn't turn out real well. Well, that happens
to Josiah. towards the end of his life.
But he's been able to avoid God's wrath as a nation and as a person
as well. Judah was beyond the point of
no return. There had been so much evil throughout
the years. that God couldn't just go, oh,
OK, see no evil kind of thing. It was inevitable. God said that
it was going to come, and so it will. And I was thinking about
that. In a similar way, it's like damage
to our bodies, physical bodies. You know, you get guys. play football and they get you
know you talk about the old football injury it's the knee or whatever
it is and they seem to bounce back from it as a teenager but
then it comes back to yell at them when they get about 40 or
50 years old and they start hobbling around and and that's why you
see some of these these professionals, you know, that they're kind of
in sad shape towards the end because they've been, they beat
up their bodies or the boxers, you know, or whatever. And eventually
some of this stuff catches up with us. And even if you're not
involved in sports, we can do the same thing, you know, we
can eat, we can kill ourselves with a fork. We can, you know,
be drinking, you know, we're into alcohol, drugs, all kinds
of stuff. that has an impact on our body. And even though we may, okay,
let's say we, I'm just picking this out. This is the worst sin
in the world, but it's the one that we're familiar with. You
smoke for the first 20, 30 years of your life and you quit. Well,
that is not a guarantee that all the damage that was in your
lungs or the rest of your body is going to heal itself. Now,
some of it may heal. Some people come out OK, but
some of them don't. Or a drug, you mess up your liver
or some other thing. Even if you change later on,
the damage has been done, and it's still going to have an impact
on your life. Well, same thing is happening
here with a nation. Just because Josiah comes along
and does it all right, doesn't mean that all that sinful behavior
and stiff arming and ignoring God for hundreds of years is
just, oh, it's all better now. No. There's a price to pay. And well, it comes time here
for Josiah to have to deal with,
and we haven't seen much of that, but was somebody looks like is
going to come against him in war. And we see here that Pharaoh,
Necho of Pharaoh, he's actually, Pharaoh wanted to kind of bypass
Israel and attack Syria, Assyria. But he's coming through the part
of Israel And the King Josiah thinks, you know, I got to stop
this guy. And God can use whoever he wants. And he sends a message through
the Pharaoh of Josiah, just stay out of it, or you're going to
wish that you had. Well, he doesn't take no for
an answer. And he goes out to do battle with Egypt and is mortally
wounded, ends up dying. And the thing is, we have no
instance in scripture here where he asked the Lord, should I go
out against him? And if you remember back with
David and others, he was always asking the Lord, do I go out
against him? Sometimes God would say yes,
sometimes he'd say no. But we see he doesn't, at this
point, he just does whatever he thought was the right thing
to do, and it cost him his life. And so we see here that he dies. And now he's got four sons. You know, God's keeping the line
of David going here. And it usually falls to the oldest
and then kind of working their way down. But it turns out for
whatever reason that it's not the oldest one. It's the youngest one that begins
to rain. But it only lasts three months.
I mean, that's some kind of a record, I guess. But Pharaoh takes him
out, takes him captive, takes him out of the way. And we see,
again, There are other brothers that are chosen to be the next
king in line. The next one ends up being Jehoah
Kim. It gets a little confusing between
the Jehoahs and the Kims and the Kims and the Chins. But anyway,
we see here that the next one comes along and he's again going
to He's had a godly example for all these years of his father,
Josiah. And now he comes to take over
and he goes the opposite direction, leads the country into apostasy. And he chose, again, the evil
way, of his brothers. He attacks the people. He has
11-year reign before that he's taken out of the way. He's put
into captivity for a number of years, and even while he's in
captivity, That doesn't seem to turn his head around and turn
him towards the Lord. He's still dependent on himself
and his ability to get himself out of the fix he's in. And so
he makes somehow gets messages to the King of Egypt and wants
to make a deal with him to protect him even before he gets back
to Jerusalem. And it doesn't turn out well. He's killed and has a pretty,
well it says that he's going to be buried like a donkey. They're
just going to drag him out outside of town and dig a hole and throw
him in it. And next one comes along, Jehovah
Chin, And he's deported. We don't want any more problems
from you guys, so we're gonna take you as a prisoner to Babylon.
We're not gonna have to deal with rebellion anymore. And this
is a time when 18,000 people are taken out of Judah and taken
to Babylon. They get a 70-year timeout. Do you remember why? They were getting put aside for
70 years. And they didn't do that, right? No, that's right. 490 years,
they didn't do it. So God's saying, OK, we're going to collect all
that now. 70-year timeout. OK? So the land got kind of a
70-year rest. The people got 70 years to think
about it. And it doesn't mention that here,
but it was saying one of the things that did change the people
of Israel when they finally did get to go back, they never went
back to idol worship. It seemed to stick. I mean that's
a pretty hard lesson to learn. For some people it was their
whole lifetime that they were in exile in Babylon. But they
did seem to learn their lesson at that point. Our time is about gone here.
We're getting to the last king. His name's changed to Zedekiah. But again, he's trying to rebel
against Nebuchadnezzar. They end up camping and put Jerusalem
under siege for a year. in which they finally overtake
Jerusalem, and they take the king at that time, who's Zedekiah,
and this is pretty gruesome, but they kill all his sons while
he's watching, and then they gouge out his eyes, so that's
the last thing he sees, and then he's taken off as a prisoner
for the rest of his life there in Babylon. You know, and Nebuchadnezzar
put somebody else up as governor for a period of time. But, you
know, through all this, you know, as we try to kind of pull this
together, through all these kind of good, bad, and otherwise kings,
you know, God had made a promise to Israel that he would keep
them, keep somebody from the throne of David on the throne. And he followed through with
that, even though we got evil kings, even though there were
people that led the nation off into idol worship and false gods. It wasn't without hope, though.
They did end up in exile, but God had promised to bring them
back out of captivity. It wasn't that I'm wiping the
slate clean, you know, I'm done with you folks, you're more trouble
than you're worth. No, he disciplines them. but ultimately he's going to
restore them as a nation. And what he wanted the kings
and the people of Israel to do was to take God's word seriously.
It's not just a book. It's God's Word, and He wants
us to come to it regularly, not just 9-1-1 when all else fails,
when all my bright ideas won't work, that we go back and say,
okay, what does God say? but that we use it on a regular
basis. We got problems, we got struggles,
we come back, what does God's word say? And that we use it
to help other people. It's not just our opinions that
we're giving to people, we're basing them on what does the
scripture say? Because we can give bad advice,
okay? But if we're giving them what
the scripture says, we're gonna give them good advice. And when
we recognize that what God's word says and our life don't
measure up, it's not the word that needs to change, it's us.
That we recognize our sin, we repent of it, we turn from it.
Not just at the moment of salvation, but for the rest of our life.
It's a purifying process. is continuing to draw us close
to Him, that sanctification process to becoming more and more like
Christ. It's a refining process. And He wants to continue to purify
us. And one of these days, folks,
and it might be in our lifetime, very well could be, the Lord's
coming back. And what we're doing now is going
to have a big effect on whether or not there's any rewards for
us to have and what kind of a job he's going to give us for the
rest of our, for eternity, you know. And, you know, he's keeping
track. And it's not all, it's not just
what we do here was inside these four walls of church, but he's
taken our whole life into account. And, and ultimately he's going
to reward us. There's not punishment as a believer,
but we don't, what are we going to do with those rewards anyway?
Those crowns he talks about. Yeah, we give them back, you
know. And, you know, here we are. Well,
I can really do that today. Sometimes I get pockets full
of junk, but you know, comes time to take the offering and
you know, where's nothing in there, you know, well, we don't
have anything to give back. We can't take anything with us
is what we're sending on ahead. And, and the Lord will reward
us. Ultimately, we give those, those
crowns back to him because he alone is worthy. But, um, Again,
you won't come up short being obedient to the Lord, okay? We're not gonna be the king of
Israel, we're not gonna be president of the United States just for
doing good, but God's keeping track. And it doesn't mean that we're not
gonna have some problems. Josiah had problems along the
way, too, struggles. Probably not every. What do you
think? Well, I got to quit here. Do
you think he's doing the finger in the wind? What's the latest
poll? Is everybody excited that I'm
tearing down all the groves and destroying all the idols? No,
I'm thinking his numbers probably went down for a while, until
the rest of them finally get caught on. turn their own hearts
and lives around. And so you can be doing right
and still catch flack for it. But you know, who are we trying
to please? One another or him? Ultimately,
it's only God's opinion that counts, right? Let's pray. Heavenly Father, we thank you
for This study of the kings for a number of months now, good,
bad, and otherwise, and a lot of things that we can learn from
them. We pray that we might not forget them. And we see here
how that you do bless those who are obedient and discipline those
who are disobedient. And sometimes people are caught
up in it. you know, just following the
leaders. They're following the wrong leader.
And not to say that there weren't some that were staying true to
the Lord along the way, but they're probably in the minority. And
maybe that's the case here in our own country. Lord, we pray
that you might give us more days and years as you choose to get the gospel out so that people
can come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. People can get
their hearts and lives turned around. Maybe they've been worshiping,
they don't probably have a metal idol or a piece of wood in a
corner of their living room that they're bowing down to, but there's
a lot of false gods that people are worshiping today, and they
need to be looking to you. We'll never come up wrong, at
least in your sight, by choosing to follow you and your word.
So we pray that you'd help us to be obedient, even when the
pressure's on, and we thank you in Jesus' name, amen. All right,
did everybody get a... This is gonna be the new quarter,
what we're gonna start with next week. We've been in Old Testament
for quite a while, You'll want to get one of your
communion things. We were going to go with the
good stuff, but it's expired. uh... th th Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm ready to go. It's really driving. When you're
by yourself, there's no one there to take care of you. You don't
know when she comes back. You don't know. It just keeps
going. And she's like, well, I don't
feel like making it clear. And I was like, well, I don't
want to see it. And she said, yeah. I said, well,
this is what I'm dealing with. Yeah, yeah, wow. Wow. Yeah, you're always listening
to me. I'm tired of listening to you.
Don't stop listening to me. I'm sorry. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I am. Hold it up. Yeah, I'm watching. Okay. Yeah. All they did was have two of
these. Now, he only performed one. Mark
was just engaged on one. It doesn't mean he's not doing
this. He hasn't taken any yet. I think he probably is. He's looking for medicine. He's a hard worker. Oh, he is. He is. Oh. She was, she was part
of it. If you look at this one, you'll
know I forgot. Yeah. It's so funny because nobody
doesn't check it. So they didn't know where you
were going. No. They didn't even know what
happened. Were they excited? Yeah. And every time we went,
they were like, oh, thanks, mom and dad. Thanks. But you know
what they were telling us? They wanted to know if we wanted
to come down. I was telling them, yeah, let's
not push it. Let's not push it. We can't do
it. We can't do it. Oh. I never noticed that's what I
used to have. I saw two. This is a nice time of year because
you don't need heat, you don't need AC. Today, it's not. as long as you're not allergic
to smoke. But this too shall pass. Yeah, that's. And I thought, what am I doing
this for? I'm sitting at home looking out
the window all day. What's the professor up to? Oh,
this was fun. This was neat. I did put these
out of style. It was fun. About three weeks
ago, maybe four weeks ago, I did that. It was quite a whole bunch
of information that you could get off on permanently. So I'm
looking for it. Yeah, it was good stuff. That's
smoke. It's all from when it came from
Canada or something like that. And when we were driving home,
we were directly south of that in South Dakota. I couldn't see. It was like fog. Oh, it was awful. It's terrible. You might have had, I mean, we
could see the drive, but the amount of smoke that was there,
like maybe a mile at the most. You know, I mean, if you think
about it, Brave firefighters. They're in that smoke all the
time. I mean, that's terrible. They
don't have any masks and stuff on. Respirators. We didn't know what it was. It
was just hazy, like humidity. And then we rolled down the hill
and it was like, oh yeah, that's definitely smoke. It's just like people that smoke
meats all the time and smokers. You know, every day, they're
breathing in. They may think it's not bad,
but you don't know what it's doing until you're walking, so
I'll tell you. I like damp parts. If I get a little smoke, that's
OK. It always follows me. I move, and it follows me. Yeah, yeah. Does that keep one
of the skaters? Does that smoke? Maybe. I don't know. They want
me. I heard it has to do with your blood type. There are more
types of certain blood types. Oh, is that right? What if you
got your spleen? What's your blood type? I'm both. I'm a male. I'm class A. I don't touch. Thank you. So, I'm going to get it out.
Judah's Last Days
Series Journey into Steadfast Living
Looking at Josiah for the most part. Interesting that even though he had an evil father who led the coutry to pagan worship he chose to follow the Lord. So just because you had a bad example spiritually, doesn't mean you have to follow that same path. On the flip side as a parent you can provide a good example and have children that will choose to go their own way and ignore God. Each makes their own choice and will be accountable for that choice, no blame casting on someone else.
