Genesis chapter 1, Genesis chapter
1, and we're going to be dealing
with just the first 13 verses here, as we look at part 1 of
God's magnificent creation. Genesis 1 verse number 1, In
the beginning God created the heaven and the earth, and the
earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face
of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the
waters. God said, Let there be light,
and there was light. And God saw the light, that it
was good. And God divided the light from
the darkness. And God called the light day,
and the darkness he called night. And the evening and the morning
were the first day. And God said, let there be a
firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the
waters from the waters. And God made the firmament and
divided the waters which were under the firmament from the
waters which were above the firmament, and it was so. And God called
the firmament heaven, and the evening and the morning were
the second day. And God said, let the waters
under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and
let the dry land appear. And it was so. And God called
the dry land earth, and the gathering together of the waters called
he seas, and God saw that it was good. And God said, let the
earth bring forth grass and herb yielding seed, and the fruit
tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself
upon the earth, and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass
and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding
fruit, whose seed was in itself after his kind, and God saw that
it was good, and the evening and the morning or the third
day. Now let me remind you that nowhere
does the Bible ever attempt to prove the existence of God. His existence is just assumed
there in verse number one, In the beginning God created the
heaven and the earth. And listen, whether you look
at God's creation through a telescope and look at the vastness of His
universe, or whether you look at it through a microscope and
see the things that we cannot see with the naked eye, or whether
you look at it with just the naked eye alone, the only adequate
explanation for what you see is God. Truly, only a fool can
honestly view God's creation and come to the conclusion that
there is no God. And I say that because God has
left His imprint on all of His creation, just like He left His
imprint in verse number 1, that this was his word. That's the
reason I showed that video a while ago. I believe he left his imprint
all over his creation. We'll see this this week and next week. I want
you to think about the creation of anything man has come up with
from the various sources created by God. Man can't create anything. All they can do is take the matter
that is and try to make it into something. I have a digital watch. Many of you probably have one.
Some of you probably have the old-fashioned watch. You can
tell by looking at either watch that there's a watchmaker. Doesn't
take an Einstein to figure that out. This thing didn't just come
to what it is over millions and millions of years. Got two automobiles
over there. One's a Subaru and one's a Hyundai. And when you look at there, you
know that there was somebody that put that thing together.
It was not just a scrapyard full of iron and it just all came
together one day. There had to be someone to take
and make those things. What I'm saying is that we can
look and it's ludicrous for anyone to say no one planned those,
no one made those, they just came together over millions and
millions of years in the process of time from matter that has
always existed. No, it's obvious from the intelligent
design of each of these things that they point back to a maker
who's left their imprint on each item. No matter what you want
to take a look at, we can tell there's intelligence behind that. There was a planning. Somebody
engineered it. Somebody put it together. Well listen, God has left His
imprint all over His creation, which is much more complicated
in structure than any of the things that man has made. Just
a single living cell is more complicated than the processes
that go on with that one cell, more complicated than what you
will see in any manufacturer company that has a facility. We know that God is the one that
put those cells together. Psalm 19 verse 1 says, the heavens
declare the glory of God and the firmament show with his handiwork. Romans 1 verse 20 says, For the
invisible things of him from the creation of the world are
clearly seen. If they're clearly seen and somebody's
not getting it, they're not getting it because they don't want to
get it. And we'll see that here in just a minute. For the invisible things of him
from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood
by the things that are made, even his eternal power in Godhead,
so that they are without excuse. God has left his imprint, and
when man chooses to take and ignore God's imprint upon his
creation, he does that to his own destruction. Today, We look
at God's magnificent creation accomplished in the six days
of creation. We'll begin to look at it today
as revealed here in scripture. We know that those are six literal
days. They're not long periods of time.
Even in the book of Exodus chapter number 20 in verse 11, it says,
for in six days the Lord made heaven and earth and the sea
and all that in them is. Were these real days, as we know
it, or long periods of time? Consider that the terms God uses
here in the scripture, such as day and night and the evening
and the morning, indicate that these are literal days. And if our minds have trouble putting
that together, we don't realize how great God is. God's great
enough to do that. He just is. And the fact that
these days also are numbered follows a pattern used only about
literal days in the scripture. And I don't think I have it there
on your handout, but Matthew 12, verse 40, where Jesus is
speaking about his being in the tomb three days and three nights,
just like Jonah was in the well three days and three nights.
So that's an indication of that very thing that I'm talking about.
So let's look at three days. Day number one, God created the
heaven, the earth, and light. That's what you get out of verses
one through five. Notice that God created light
before he created the sun. And we've already talked about
God creating the heaven and the earth, so we're just going to
be talking about the light. All light is really from God. And God may use the sun for a
time to dispense light, but listen, He is not bound to that limitation.
And we see that very thing here in Scripture. We have light before
the sun. He didn't want people worshiping
the sun. He wanted us to understand that
light came from Him. The book of Revelation speaks
of the city of the New Jerusalem. When this heaven and this earth
that we see are passed away, God makes a new heaven and a
new earth and the city of New Jerusalem comes down from heaven.
And it says in Revelation 21 verse 23 and 24, it says, And
the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine
in it. For the glory of God did lighten
it. And the Lamb is the light thereof. Jesus is the light. Amen. And the nations of them which
are saved shall walk in the light of it. And the kings of the earth
do bring their glory and honor into it. God is light. Light is His nature. The Lamb,
Jesus Christ, who is God the Son, will be the light of heaven. In John chapter 8 verse 12, Jesus
said that He is the light of the world. We know that is true
physically speaking and spiritually speaking. Let's look at day number
2, verses 6 through 8. We read there that God created
a firmament to divide the waters. The firmament is the expanse
of space surrounding the earth. We might call it in our day the
atmosphere. But there's a whole lot more
to it then than there is now. But the firmament is the expanse
of space surrounding the earth that separates the earthly realm
from what is beyond. When you get beyond, the outer
reaches of that, you go into what we call outer space, right?
But we understand that this is the first heaven, the heaven
that we see where the birds fly, and where the clouds are, and
where the air is that we breathe. That's what we're talking about.
This firmament was made to separate between two great volumes of
water. And here's where I want you to
understand that God divided the waters which were under the firmament
from the waters which were above the firmament. That's what we
read there. Down on earth, the waters under
the firmament were gathered together into the seas. But above the
firmament, the waters were not gathered together, but evidently
they were in vapor form and surrounded the earth with a great blanket
of water vapor. This was prior to the flood.
That's why things are different today. After the flood, things
changed. The light could shine through.
And when the sun was created on the fourth day, it could shine
through, but some of the infrared rays and others that might harm
were filtered out. And the whole earth was somewhat
insulated so that the climate would have been even over the
entire earth. You wouldn't have the extremes
of temperature such as Siberia. In Siberia they have found rich
vegetation and animals that would not survive underneath the ice
that is there. How did that happen? Well, obviously
the climate was different when God first created. The result
was The earth was really like a hothouse
with a moderate climate protected by the great envelope or canopy
of water vapor which covered the earth. Now, this water vapor
canopy would be where a great deal of the water came from the
worldwide flood in Noah's day. Not only were the fountains of
the deep broken up, but that was above, it ceased to be. When you look
at the longevity of those that were before the flood, in Genesis
chapter number five. You know, our mind has a hard
time comprehending that somebody could live hundreds of years,
but they used to. Before, the damaging effects
of both sin, okay, we've got the increasing damage that sin
caused, and we've got also that radiation. Prior to the flood, the low radiation
caused by this water vapor contributed to that longevity of life in
those days that we see in Genesis chapter number five. If you ever
wondered, how was that possible? That was it. The atmospheric
pressure and the oxygen levels were also more favorable to life
back during that time. But that's what the firmament
is about, okay? Now, day three, and this is where
I want to plant. We're going to talk about the
plants. So I'm going to plant with the plants. All right? God
created plant life. And I'm going to jump ahead a
little bit too at times here. But these verses in verses 9
through 13 and others we see next week totally refute the
harmful doctrine of evolution. Here we see the difference between
a biblical worldview and a secular worldview. Listen, evolution
states that life began in the sea. The Bible says that it happened
on dry land. Who you gonna believe? They can't
duplicate it. Science has to be, and we'll
talk more about this, but it's gotta be something you can duplicate.
They can't duplicate it. But I want to share three things
here, and three problems that all evolutionists have. First of all, evolutionists have
the problem of the origin of life. The origin of life. They want you to think they have
figured it all out, but they haven't. Evolutionists say life
arose as a result of spontaneous generation. Okay? Yeah. They believe that life
began as an organic matter or a prebiotic soup or a puddle
of green slime. I don't know, you know, I don't
know how you would describe it. They call it a fortuitous concourse
of atoms. Don't let it sound educated.
A fortuitous concourse of atoms. A flash of lightning hit a puddle
of scum and life came forth. You believe that? There's some
folks that do. Now why would intelligent people
believe that? Here's why. And one of them's
own words, okay, I'm quoting from Dr. George Walt. He was a Nobel Prize winner in
biology and professor emeritus of biology at Harvard until his
death in 1997. And I'm quoting him, he said,
there are only two possibilities as to how life arose. One is
spontaneous generation arising to evolution. The other is a
supernatural creative act of God. There is no third possibility. Spontaneous generation that life
arose from non-living matter was scientifically disproved
been disproved 120 years ago by Louis Pasteur and others. That leaves us with only one
possible conclusion, that life arose as a creative act of God. Listen what he says, I will not
accept that philosophically because I do not want to believe in God. Therefore, I choose to believe
in that which I know is scientifically impossible, spontaneous generation
arising to evolution. Now that's a quotation from a
scientist. You want to talk about, well,
creation's not scientific. Well, evolution's not scientific.
Okay. I'm not here to prove anything
except the fallacy of evolution this morning. So much for being
scientific. Sounds more like a religion to
me. Right? I mean, this is what I choose
to believe. I know it's impossible, but this
is what I choose to believe. So it's not a very good religion
at that. Those words that I just read are the words of a fool. The words of a fool. Evolution
is a philosophy that one chooses to believe in. It's not science. Evolution takes a lot more faith
to accept than does belief that God created it all. So evolutionists
have the problem of the origin of life. Now let me pause here,
and you'll hear me say this again next week. They thought they'd
been able to put life into anything. They can't manufacture life.
They can't manufacture plant life. Now they can take two plants
and they can put them together and make a hybrid, but they can't
take nothing and put it together and give it life. They can't
take something that's dead. If a tree dies, and they try
to make that dead portion live again, they can't do that. They
can't. You can't do it. Why? Because God's the one that has
life. And that goes for not only plant
life, but also physical life. That's why we'll talk about it
next week when we get into the animals and mankind. Here's the
second thing. Evolutionists have the problem
of the law of biogenesis. The law of biogenesis says that
DNA, that's, you know, we know what DNA is, right? Everybody
here's watched the programs talking about DNA. We know what it is,
right? Know what it is a lot better than I did in my day.
Okay, but what we know is to make up, it's fixed. DNA is fixed. Everything reproduces
after its own kind, and that's what God says in the phrase,
or after their kind is repeated three times here in the verses
11 and 12 that we read that deal with plant life. Next week when
we deal with the other verses later, two times in verses 21
and 22 dealing with birds and water life, and five times in
verses 24 through 25 dealing with living creatures, creeping
things, and beasts. Ten times overall. 10 times. It lets us know after
his own kind, after their own kind. One can crossbreed roses
and get different colors and sizes of roses, but they will
never get a puppy out of it. They got different DNA to them.
One can breed cats all they want to and get many variations, but
they'll never get anything other than a cat. It's going to be
a cat. Scientists have done all kinds
of mutations to fruit flies. And they come up with some really
funky things along the way. But all of them have been fruit
flies. Mankind can take life that is
and try to mess with it. And I don't like them messing
around with the genes. I don't know about you. I mean, that's
that's one thing that they're doing with these new vaccines.
That's one reason why I have a problem with the vaccines that
they are that they're not really vaccines, they had to change
the definition of vaccine to come out and call them vaccines.
Because what they are is genetic, they went in and changed the
genes is what they did. I'll not dwell there. But there
are no transitional forms in the fossil record. None. Not one. None. They have painted
pictures, real nice colored painted pictures showing the man coming
up through the years from an ape. It's just pictures. That's
all it is. It's drawings that somebody drew.
They even make plaster of Paris images. It's all fairy tales. They have no real evidence. It's not just a missing link
or two. The whole chain's missing. The
whole chain's missing because it's not there. There is no link
between the apes and mankind. To be true science, listen, to
be true science, something has to be observable and repeatable. Observable and repeatable. But
this is false science. And Paul told Timothy to beware
of the coming of science falsely so-called in 1 Timothy 6.20.
So listen, don't be fooled. Evolution isn't science. I know
they try to teach it in science class in the classrooms, but
it is not science. It is an unproven theory of mankind,
and it's devilish is what it is. You know what is observable? Things that are reproducing after
their own kind. That's observable and repeatable.
It happens. We see it happen all the time.
That's scientific. So evolutionists have the problem
of the origin of life. They have the problem of the
law of biogenesis. And here's the third thing. Evolutionists
have the problem of the second law of thermodynamics. The second
law of thermodynamics. That's a scientific term, by
the way. That's a scientific problem that they have. The second
law of thermodynamics says that energy can never be destroyed
but becomes less available for further work as it unravels. In other words, The universe
is like a wound up watch that is slowly winding down. Everything
tends to wear out and slow down. Things aren't moving from disorganization
to organization, but rather from organization to disorganization. If you've got a plot of weeds,
that's mostly what we have here. Bahia grass is nothing but weed.
If you have a plot of weeds, it will never become a golf course,
no matter how much that you hope that it might one day. A golf
course left alone, though, will become a plot of weeds if you
don't continually do some maintenance on it. I can guarantee you that.
Back when I used to play golf, I played on a few, but they needed
to put a little more time in maintaining because you were
hitting out of stuff that ought not to be in the fairway. That's a sad thing, but we'll
move on here. Everything on earth is marked
by death, decay, and disintegration because of mankind's sin. and
the curse placed upon creation. You want to know where it comes
from, that's where it came from. Now people want to have a problem
with, why did God allow my whoever to die? You know, they blame
God, blame sin. Sin's the problem. If you want
to blame a person, blame the devil. The devil took and deceived
mankind and caused them to sin. Listen, don't blame God. Everything is marked by death,
decay, and disintegration. Romans 8 verses 18 through 23,
and I'm not going to turn there, but it shows all of creation
groans under the curse. It's waiting for the redemption,
waiting for our final redemption when we're changed and everything's
changed back and the Lord reverses the curse. Listen, the evolutionist,
all he does is he just needs time. They say give it enough
time and things will come together And that's why they need billions
of years rather than the 6,000 years old that the Bible indicates
the universe is. Now, they are a victim of their
own argument. Order can never come out of disorder. It doesn't matter how much time
that you add, nothing could ever come together in a meaningful
way on its own. We all know that. We experience
it. If you don't take care of yourself, what's going to happen?
You're going to deteriorate. Let's talk about this building.
We have to do maintenance from time to time on the building.
Why? Because if you just leave everything like it is, it's eventually
going to disintegrate. Now, this universe, From the smallest
microscopic life form to the greatest things that can be observed
in the universe, needed and show forth a designer, a creator,
and an organizer. His name is Jehovah God. The
evolutionist says that man started in darkness and is moving toward
the light and just needs a boost from beneath. The biblical creation
account shows that man started in the light, but plunged himself
into darkness by sin. Man doesn't need an instructor
to climb up, but rather he needs a redeemer. He needs not a boost
from beneath, but a birth, a new birth from above, a spiritual
birth. Don't fall prey to the thinking that you have to somehow
combine creation with evolution. That's a lie too. Theistic. You've probably heard of theistic
evolution. Well, God just got it all started
and everything evolved. No, no. The two are diametrically
opposed to each other. Theistic evolution is not the
answer. It is not scientific either. Now these are just three logical
arguments against evolution. There are more moral arguments
and spiritual ones too. If evolution is true, then man
is just an accident and there's no God to answer to. No right
and wrong, no value to life. With evolutionists having taken
over most of the educational institutions in our land, Is
there any wonder why people have developed into acting more like
animals? After all, they're being told
that that's all that they are. Don't be fooled by this science,
falsely so-called. The Bible account of creation,
the fall of man into sin, and God's provision for our sin are
all true. There is a Creator God, that
is also our righteous judge that we will answer to after our life
here is over. He's a loving God who's provided
the salvation that we all need in person of His only begotten
Son, the Lord Jesus Christ. Thank God for that. But in order
to take advantage of God's provision, one must believe the gospel. They got to believe the gospel.
That's the only way. Some might choose to say, well, I just don't
think that that's it. I refuse to believe that. Well,
you're going to wind up in a place that you're not going to think
that you belong, but you do belong there if you refuse God's only
Son. John 3.16 says, For God so loved
the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever
believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. Verse
17 says, for God sent not His Son into the world to condemn
the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. We
were already under condemnation. And which is what verse 18 says.
He that believeth on Him, believes on Jesus, the Son of God, is
not condemned. But he that believeth not is
condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name
of the only begotten Son of God. Make no mistake. We all came
into this world condemned because of the sin nature we were all
born with. Jesus Christ is the only hope
any of us have. I'm glad that my eyes were opened
by God's Holy Spirit. The convicting of the Holy Spirit
of God showed me not only my great sinfulness, but showed
me the righteousness of His Son, showed me what would happen to
me if I didn't believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus said
in John 14, 6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man
cometh unto the Father but by me. Acts 4, 12, Peter reiterated
that truth. He says, Neither is there salvation
in any other, talking about any other than Jesus, for there is
none other name under heaven given among men whereby we must
be saved. The question is, Do you know
Him? And if you don't know Him, come
to know Him today. Amen. Let's pray. Father, we
thank You today for the biblical account that You gave to us to
let us know of the beginnings, Lord, so that we wouldn't be
deceived by the things that we hear today. where the folks in
the educational world have been educated far beyond their intelligence,
and teaching things that are not so, and calling things science
that are nothing but fairy tales that are not provable. Lord,
help young people not to be deceived. Help adults not to be deceived
by that wicked lie of evolution. May your Holy Spirit open their
eyes to the truth of God's Word. Thank you for saving us that
are saved here this morning. Lord, help us to help others
that are struggling in this area. If we don't show them about Christ,
they're going to die and go to the devil's hell. Lord, if there's
one here today that doesn't know Christ, Or maybe they're not
sure that they're saved. Help them, Lord, to get things
right today. And Lord, they'll be glad that
they did. Bless the invitation now, we
pray in Jesus' name. Amen.
