Exodus 16.10 says, And it came
to pass, as Aaron spake unto the whole congregation of the
children of Israel, that they looked toward the wilderness,
and behold, the glory of the Lord appeared in the cloud. We see in the Exodus the glory
of the Lord appearing in the cloud, and we've repeatedly shown
that the Lord appearing to and speaking to Moses in the book
of Exodus is none other than the pre-incarnate Jesus Christ.
And we would like to point out that during various special appearances
of Jesus, we see him in the cloud, just like we read in Exodus 16.10.
at his transfiguration, for example. Matthew 17 five tells us, while
he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them and behold,
a voice out of the cloud which said, this is my beloved son
in whom I am well pleased. Hear ye him. Now, why was there
a bright cloud? I believe it's a mark of authentication.
You might recall that the Apostle Paul tells us in 1 Corinthians
1.22, for the Jews require a sign. and the Greeks seek after wisdom.
And Peter would confront the killers of Jesus with the fact
that Jesus provided such signs, which they chose to reject or
to ignore. In Acts 2.22, Peter is preaching
at Pentecost and he says, ye men of Israel, hear these words.
Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you by miracles
and wonders and signs, which God did by him in the midst of
you, as you yourselves know. And this was established back
in Exodus 4 when Moses was given the ability to throw down his
rod and turn it into a serpent and then pick it back up and
turn it into a rod again. He was also given the ability
to stick his hand inside his shirt and pull it out and it'd
be all leprous and then he'd put it back in and pull it back
out and it'd be back to normal. Why did God give Moses the ability
to do these miracles? Exodus 4, 5, the Lord said, that
they may believe that the Lord God of their fathers, the God
of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath appeared
unto thee. So when Jesus shows up, he is
confronted with Jews who are seeking signs. As we read in
John 2, 18, then answered the Jews and said unto him, what
sign showest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
Now, Jesus wasn't a parlor act. He wasn't going to jump through
hoops and do signs on command, but he did do many signs and
wonders at the times of his choosing. And many of these signs pointed
back to Moses to fulfill Deuteronomy 18, 15, where Moses had prophesied
and said, the Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a prophet.
And that has a capital P in your King James Bible. He would raise
up unto thee a prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren,
like unto me. Unto him ye shall hearken. That's
why we know the Messiah has to be a Jew. So Jesus shows up,
just as he did in the wilderness. in the cloud, in Exodus 16, 10,
and not only at his transfiguration, but also at his ascension, Acts
1, 9. And when he had spoken these
things, while they beheld, he was taken up, and a cloud received
him out of their sight. And in Acts 111, the angel said,
this same Jesus, which is taken up from you into heaven, shall
so come in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven. In a cloud. And what are we told
will happen when Jesus returns? In Luke 21, 27, Jesus himself
prophesies about his return. And he says, and then shall they
see the Son of Man coming in a cloud. with power and great
glory. All this confirms that Jesus
is that prophet like unto Moses. The Lord came in a cloud back
then. He traveled during the daytime
in a cloud with the children of Israel. And he came in a cloud
at his baptism and transfiguration. He'll come in a cloud as his
return. As Revelation 1, 7 says, Behold, he cometh with clouds,
and every eye shall see him. And they also which pierced him,
talking about the Jews, and all the kindreds of the earth shall
wail because of him. Even so, amen. And that'll happen
a little more than seven years after the rapture, which could
happen at any moment.
