Thank you for coming. I pray the Lord will undertake
for us this evening as we preach the wonderful gospel of our Saviour
and Lord. This morning, I was sitting in
the seat there and Bert was on the same subject. When Sam got
up, he was on the same subject and I said, I'm not going to
have any messages left. I thank the Lord, the Lord has
undertook and we pray that he'll continue to undertake. My thoughts
this morning, all week, was how to make the gospel easy. Because the scripture tells us
that even a child should be able to understand it. And it's only
man that makes it. awkward to understand and that's
my heart's desire this evening that we make it even a child
who will be listening tonight would understand it. So could
we commence our reading in Leviticus chapter 11 and you were saying
that's a strange place to preach the gospel but this is where
the Lord has led me. So when you find the place then
we'll just ask the Lord to help us at this time in the word of
prayer. Father we just thank you and
praise you once again and we thank you for your word, for
the word is truth. Father we pray that you would
take the clear lips tonight, help us and that we would give
thee the glory and all the praise. But it's our heart's desire to
see souls one for Thee, Lord. And it's You it saves, no man. And we pray that, Lord, that
You'll take these words and it'll be used to bring men and women
and boys and girls to know Thee as Lord and Saviour. We give
You thanks in the Saviour's name. Amen. One of Leviticus and as we know
the name is derived from the tribe of Levi. They were the
priest nation at that time. Moses was the author of the book
and the key words of Leviticus is access and holiness. The theme is how can sinful man
approach a holy God? The word holy occurs over 80
times in Leviticus. And it speaks of a holy God and a holy people. And that's what God wants. He
wants holy people. We know that he's talking of
Israel here, but he's looking to save men and women. That's
why he sent his son into the world, to save sinners. I want
to read a few of these verses here, and then we'll ask the
Lord to continue with us. Verse 1, The Lord spake unto
Moses, and to arms, saying unto them, Speak unto the children
of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat
among all the beasts that are on the earth. Whatsoever parteth
the hoof, and is cloven-footed, and cheweth the cud, among the
beasts that shall ye eat. Nevertheless ye shall not eat
of them that chew the cud, or them that divide the hoof. As
the camel, because he chews the cod, But divides not the hoof,
he is unclean. And the coney, because he chews
the cod, But divides not the hoof, he is unclean unto you. And the hare, because he chews
the cod, But divides not the hoof, he is unclean unto you. And the swine, though he divides
the hoof, And be cloven-footed, yet he chews not the cod. He is unclean unto you. And as
we're reading through these verses we're seeing the unclean animals
in it. In verse 9 you'll see that these
shall ye eat of all that are in the waters whatsoever has
fins and scales in the waters and in the seas and in the rivers.
Them shall ye eat And all them that have not funds and scales
in the seas and the rivers, of all that moves in the waters,
and of all any living thing which is in the waters, they shall
be abomination unto you. And so we come down into verse
14 because I don't want to spend too much time. And it's verse
13. And these are they which shall
have abomination among you, among the fowls, they shall not be
eaten. Their abomination, the eagle,
the osprey, the vulture, the kite, and after his kind, every
raven after his kind, the owl, the night hawk, the cuckoo, the
hawk and his kind, and the little owl and the cormorant and the
great owl, the swan, the pelican, the geared eagle, and the stork,
the heron, and after her kind, and the lapwing, and the bat.
All fowls that creep going upon all fours shall be abomination
unto you. Yet these may ye, of the every
flying creeping thing that goes upon all fours, which have legs
above their feet, to leap with all upon the earth, even those
that you may eat, the locust of his kind, the bald locust
of his kind, and the beetle after his kind, and the grasshopper
after his kind. And so you see the different
animals that were allowed to eat. This comes down to verse
29. These also shall be unclean unto
you among the creeping things that creep upon the earth, the
weasel, and the mouse, and the tortoise, and after his kind,
the ferret, the chameleon, the lizard, and the snail. All these
were unclean to the people. And there was a reason for that.
And then there was the carcass. Some of them, they couldn't even
touch the carcass of the animal because they were unclean. So
we find in Leviticus from chapter 11 to chapter 15. Chapter 11
we find the food. Chapter 12 we find the birth. Chapter 13 and 14 we find the
diseases. Chapter 15 we find the body functions
and this speaks of separation and defilement. Brahm was talking
about it this morning, the stomach. And it's bringing into the people
that they must have discernment, must be exercised in these things. The dietary, when you look at
the dietary change, the dietary under the law was different from
the dietary under grace. And we knew it did change. I
want you to go verse 44 with me of the same chapter. And this
is what the Lord says, For I am the Lord your God, you shall
therefore sanctify yourself, and you shall be holy. For I
am holy, neither shall you defile yourself with any manner of creeping
things that creepeth upon the earth. For I am the Lord that
bringeth you out of the land of Egypt. To be your God you
shall therefore be holy. For I am holy. This is the law
of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature
that moveth in the water, and of every creature that creepeth
upon the earth. to make a difference between
the unclean and the clean and between the beast that may be
eaten and the beast that may not be eaten. So there is a spiritual
principle being applied here as well. And it goes to our time when
we are said it's a permanent spiritual thing. If you look
at 2nd Corinthians chapter 7 verse 1, and I'll read it out for you
here. It says this, Having therefore
these promises dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from
all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in
the fear of God. So these animals there, it was
all laid out, God laid them out, he was holy and he wanted a holy
people. In Luke chapter 7, Luke 7 verse
14, we find that the Lord met the woman and lost her son, the
only son, the widow woman. And as he came through the gates,
the Lord touched the briar with the dead body on it and
he raised the widow's son. We find in Acts 10 and 14 where
Peter dreamt of the sheep that came down from heaven three times and he was told to eat and he
said not so Lord, not so Lord, I've never eaten any unclean. We find that the change had come
from the dietary But the spiritual principle has still applied and
that's what I'm trying to bring out this evening and by the help
of God that we may get it. A long time ago I brought a wee
message to the children here in the back room and that's what
I'm going to use tonight. And I'm going to expound it a
wee bit more further. It was a poem about Robert Burns,
about the mouse. And the mouse is an unclean thing. Robert Burns wrote this poem
in 1785 when he was ploughing to disturb the mouse's nest.
Moses mentions the mouse as an unclean animal, and we have just
read it. as certain animals to be clean
and others to be unclean which gave the Israelites a continual
reminder of the difference between holiness and sin. Every time they seen the unclean
animal they knew their condition was of sin. Every time they saw
an unclean animal they reminded their own sinful nature. We inherited a sinful nature
from Adam and Eve. They disobeyed God in the garden. Eve could only say that the serpent
beguiled me. Adam could only say that the
woman gave me to eat. Today we make the same excuses
and I want to say to those that are listening and those that
are watching the internet tonight, what's your excuse tonight? Why haven't you accepted the
Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior because you're a sinner? You come into the world as a
sinner and if you die in your sins you go to a sinless hell. Why haven't you accepted the
Lord as your Lord and Saviour? See the mouse is mentioned six
times in the Bible. Only six times is it mentioned.
In scripture it's a powerful picture of sin. It's unclean and sin is moral
uncleanness. While certain animals are found
in some parts of the world, the mouse is to be found everywhere.
So it's universal. And sin is universal. For all
have sinned. I came short of the glory of
God. See, man's nature is what the
Bible calls flesh. And flesh is sinful. I want you to come with me and
keep your hand here and look like this. I want you to come
with me to Galatians chapter 5. Galatians chapter 5 please. And so we know in the world there's
a battle going on. Paul says here in chapter 5 verse
17. For the flesh lusts against the
spirit and the spirit against the flesh and these are contrary
to the one to the other so that you cannot do the things that
you would. It's a terrible battle going
on but if you be led of the spirit you're not under the law. Now
the works of the flesh are manifested which are these adultery, fornication,
uncleanness, lasciviousness, adultery, witchcraft, hated,
viruses, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, and heresies, envies,
envying murderers, drunkenness, revelings, as such like of which
I tell you before, as I often told you in the time past, they
which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Now we can't put it any plainer
and any clearer than that. That's what God's word tells
us. You're a sinner and you have to be saved. You're a sinner
and you have to be cleansed. And the only way you can get
cleansed is by the precious blood of our Saviour and Lord, the
Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord said to Nicodemus, you
must be born again. You must, there's no other way.
You must be born again. You must accept the Lord Jesus
Christ as your Lord and Saviour. Because if you die in your son,
you'll go to hell in your son. Because you're already condemned. The scent is universal, for all
have scent. We find that Robert Burns described the
mouse as sleeker. Well that's a wee Scotch word
that means sneaky. You know the devil is sneaky. He's a sneaky boy who puts up
on you. and he gets you doing things that you don't want to
do. But the unsaved guy, he doesn't know anything about that. He
doesn't know anything about that until he hears the word of God. Like you and I. The devil will
sneak it with us. So it is a sneaky thing. Eve said she was beguiled. Beguiled means deceived. 1 Timothy
2 tells us that Adam was not deceived. Eve was the transgressor. She was deceived. Adam knew what
he was doing. He was going to go take the apple
as Eve's done because He loved his wife. What about you tonight? What's stopping you tonight? Do you know what you're doing
tonight? You're not accepting Christ because
of your wife? You're not accepting Christ because
of your husband? You're not accepting Christ because
of your family, your job, your mates. Do you know what you're
doing? When you hear the Word of God,
it tells you you must be born again. You must accept Him as
your Lord and Saviour. In Revelations chapter 13, there's
wee beasties here as well. and they're slick as beasties.
In Revelations 19 and 20 you'll see the Antichrist and the false
prophet. In Revelations 19 and 20 you'll
see they're getting put into the lake of fire. The Antichrist and the false
prophet. In Revelation 20 and 2 you'll see the dragon and the
serpent and the devil and the Satan who are the one and the lake of fire. The mouse is sleeker the same
as the devil is sleeker. It darts quickly here and there
and gets in before we know it and you're doing things you don't
want to do and you're saying things you don't want to say
and you're going places you don't want to go. Ephesians 6 verse 16 says this,
above all taking the shield of faith. Why? Why do we take the shield of
faith? For faith cometh by hearing,
and it is hearing by the word of God. Wherewith ye shall be
able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Friend, tonight, if you're not
saved, you're hearing the word of God. Not me. It's what the word of God tells
you. You must be saved. you must be
born again. Faith cometh by hearing and by
hearing by the Word of God. The devil snows so sneaky, so
sneaky he doesn't give you any chance. Scripture tells you he's
like a lower lion devouring all in his path. If you'd seen a
lion come, you wouldn't belong getting out of his way, would
you? That's what the Lord Jesus Christ
is telling us. The Lord is telling us. Except to be born again, you
cannot see the Kingdom of God. See mice, mice breed rapidly. One undisturbed pair in a house, within a year, there may be about 400 of them. Same with sun. Sun bleeds rapidly. And the only way you can get
rid of the sun You must weed them out. The blood of Jesus
Christ tells us, cleanses us from all sin. Without the shedding
of blood, there is no remission of sin. 1 Corinthians 6-9 tells
us this. You've got the same lust that
I read out to you in Galatians. Paul says, You are the same. But you're washed. But you're sanctified. But you're
justified. Sins taken away. When you used to drink, you stopped
drinking. When you used to smoke, you stopped
smoking. When you used to swear, you stopped
swearing. When you used to steal, you stopped
stealing. When you used to go to the places
you shouldn't go, you stopped going. The shedding of blood. You know,
sadly friends, I have to say this. We're saved in this hall
and there's others saved throughout the world. But the blood can
take away a son. but it cannot take away the consequences
of sin. Mice are destructive and do great
damage. You know, when I was talking
about the sin breeds rapidly, I was thinking of our brother
this morning speaking about David. David discovers As David discovered
when he sinned with Bathsheba, one look, one look multiplied
into adultery, lying, murder, trouble in his own home that
lasted for the rest of his life. Sin wrecks your life. Wrecks it. Go and see the drunkard in the
street. Out of his mind with drunk. Go and see the gambler. It's lost his wife and his family. No friend, sin is a terrible
disease. And yet, sun is so destructive. Yet, men
love sun. Before we were saying we loved
our sun, didn't we? Although it wrecks your life, and if you die in sun you go
to hell, It's so attractive. Man loves it. Same as he loves
his darkness, the darkness. And when light comes in, he hates
it. You get saved and go and ask,
tell your family that you get saved, you'll soon find out.
I'll tell your workmates, you'll soon find out. It's so destructive. And yet
it's so attractive. But you know, brothers and sisters,
sin fascinates, but it assassinates. For the wages of sin say this,
the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. that assassinates, it ruins our
life. And it should, because there's
a way out. See, all dying Adam, my brothers,
sisters, you do know that this evening, all live in Christ. What a saviour we have this evening.
And this is what I'm trying to bring you to, through a simple
word, Mice must be dealt with or else you'll overrun your home. Me and I know about this. We
were a wee single then and we were away the weekend and we'd
come back. In the school we had a cooker and we kept the bacon
in the bottom drawer and me says we'll make ham and eggs and we'll
have a bite to eat. and we pulled open the bottom door and it wasn't
a hundred mice that came out, it was a hundred and forty that
came out because it was an old house, an old building and we
were working at it and then they all disappeared and then when
it was quiet they all came back and that's what sound does to
you and it needs to be dealt with You need to deal with them
and get them out because if you don't, they'll put you out. And
that's what sin does to our life. It'll put us down and put us
out. So for quality of life, the Lord
Jesus Christ went to the cross for you and for me. He loved
us. For God so loved the world that
he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him
should not perish, but have everlasting life. If you want life, you need to
get rid of the Son. And only Jesus Christ can effectively eradicate Son. Isn't that a strong word?
Eh, eradicate. Do you know what it means? It means
to root out and destroy completely. Tonight, every believer is in
Christ and we are complete in Him, isn't it? The wee chorus
sings a complete, complete, we are complete in Him. He roots
it out completely. Oh yes, we're not sonless, but
we have an access to go and confess our sin. But all that sin has
been taken away from Adam. Your son, if you're not saved,
is stolen. building up and building up and
building up and building up and if you approach the great white
throne all you'll be asked is what you've done with Christ.
What are you going to say when he's
standing judging you? The blood of Jesus Christ tells
us in 1 John 1 and 7. The blood of Jesus Christ, His
Son, whose Son, God's Son, cleanses us from all sin. And you are
rejecting that. You want to stay in your sin.
You want to die in your sin. And you go to hell on your son.
And you don't need to. But God has made provision to
his beloved son. Accept him as your Lord and Saviour. Confess your sins. You know you
can confess before a man. You can get down on your knees. What's we done? I done? Me done? Is that what St. Hubert done?
Johnny? We're down on our knees and ask
the one in our hearts, it's easy as pie. Why go to this terrible
place? It's been prepared for the devil
and his angels. John 3 in 3 says, Jesus says
to Nicodemus, I repeat it again, you must be born Again. Never mind this wee sleeket.
Sneaky boy. It goes on. I want to take you
to that terrible place because that's where he's gone. To take
you with him. Calvary's Cross, where our Saviour
bled and died for mankind. A way back to God. Back into fellowship with God
the Father. Why would you reject that? Afraid
what people will say? Friend, don't be so foolish as
to go down that line. If any man be in Christ is a
new creation. All things are passed away and
behold all things have become new. D. L. Moody made seven points and he outlined it with this. The changes when we take the
one step from darkness of sin into the sunlight of God's grace. One, justification, a change
of standing before God. Regeneration, a change of nature from God. Repentance, a change of mind
about God. Conversion, a change of life
for God. Adoption, a change of family
in God. Sanctification, a change of service
unto God. And glorification, a change of
place with God. How could you turn anything like
that down for the son you're in? It'll take you to hell. Friend, tonight you've got the
opportunity to come to the Saviour. You're getting the opportunity
to be spoke to clearly. No frills. attached to it, the
simple word of God. And it tells us in Galatians
6, listen to it, because this is what I heard the night I got
saved. Be not deceived that God is not
mocked, for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he reap. For
he that soweth of the flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption,
but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life
everlasting. And let us not be weary in well
doing, for in due season we shall weep. If they faint not. There's a day coming. There's
a day coming that the Lord will come back and take us to birth
himself. People don't want to hear this,
that he said he would and he won't. He's coming back. But if you die and your son you'll
go to hell and the only place that you'll meet him is the great
white throne and man I wouldn't want to be there. There's one
time I used to be a shop steward for 11 years and I knew a good
thing when I seen it and this is the best thing that
you could ever take is this because you can depend on it it's true
to his word He's faithful. It's true. He'll never leave you, nor forsake
you. And as we said in the prayer
meeting, we've said it often as before. He never promises
a rose garden. We have our problems. But he's
there. He's there on the boat alongside
us. He's at our elbow. You're unsaved, who do you call
on? Who do you call on? Do you call on a man? Do you call on a priest? Do you
call on a minister? Who do you call on? Do you call
on your church, your religion? Friend, it's been said, religion
is only man made. Religion is man looking for God. The gospel is God looking for
man. There's many religions. There's
only one gospel. The Gospel of our Lord Jesus
Christ. He came into the world to save sinners. Friend, I'm
pleading with you tonight. You're listening to me. Don't
be a fool tonight. Don't be a fool tonight and reject
the Saviour. And go to hell. Sin is a terrible
thing. We can do nothing about it when
we're born, but we can do something about it when we come to the
age of understanding. Then you're responsible for your
son. Only you. As I said this morning,
the father can't pay for the son's sins, and the son can't
pay for the father's sins. We have to pay with self. Like Calvary. The Lord Jesus
Christ paid for it all. He paid for it all. Oh, what a Saviour that He died
for me. From condemnation, He has set
me free. What a Saviour we have tonight.
When He prayed tonight, in these simple words, in this simple
message tonight, He would set down and take Him as your Lord
and Saviour. And get a new life. And get rid
of this Satan. Because once Satan hears the
word, he'll flee from you. To God be the glory. May the
Lord bless the reading of this precious word. Are we happy maybe
we could sing a couple of verses of it?
