Out of darkness

Darkness is damaging, and it is the natural state of every person born into the world. Christ has come as a light into the world in order that sinners might not remain in darkness. To understand this, we need to consider first of all the oppressive spiritual darkness in which sinners live, then the light which is shining in Christ Jesus as a Saviour for sinners, and the generous offer which is made to sinners because Jesus Christ has come into the world.
