Bibles if you wouldn't turn to the book of first Kings second Kings thinking It ain't good to be saved I Mean I'm y'all glad you're safe Hey, how many are glad to be in church tonight? I Mean I love me How many of y'all want to give me an offering? I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. How many of y'all think Brother Gary ought to give me his new knife? My mother-in-law's having a shout and spell up y'all. You told him that? I love you, Brother Bobby. Amen. Hey, I'm just glad to be saved. So Brother Edwards, you cut up too much. Yeah? That sounds like a little bit of jealousy to me. Maybe you complain too much. We better get in the book of Kings. 2 Kings chapter number 9. Unusual chapter. Brother Darnell, I probably need your help. And whenever you feel like I need your help, you just help me. Just whatever you think. Amen. And we'll leave here and do like we always do. Go home, or eat, or wherever you're going to spend the night at church. 2 Kings 9, if you would stand, I'm going to read a couple of verses and then I'm going to go backwards. That way you got it on the stand the whole time, okay? In chapter number 9, 2 Kings, in verse number 30, the Bible says, And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it. Now this is what they call getting ready. she painted her face and tired her head and looked out at a window and as Jehu entered in at the gate she said had Zimri beasts who slew his master I want you to notice real close now all of what Jehu said. And he lifted up his face to the window and said, Who is on my side? Who? I like the way he says that. Y'all didn't know the Bible said it like that, did you? He said, Who is on my side? Who? I tell my wife sometimes, I'll never forget, Tristan, Tristan, I don't even remember what it was now, brother Tracy. Tristan was, oh, quoting some verses. And you told him to do it with enthusiasm. Do you remember that? And so I asked my wife every once in a while, sometimes, she's a precious lady. Sweet, sweet as honey. Precious, sweet. And sometimes I may have to ask her, does she love me? And kind of prime her, you know. And sometimes she'll answer and she'll say it like this. Yeah. And I told her we're talking about this coming home. I said, maybe a little enthusiasm. And sometimes when we read the Bible, we could read it different than what we do. Be careful. Hey, be careful. You might be the one reading in church one day and you don't want to bore everybody else like you bore yourself. A little enthusiasm. So where'd you get that from? Well, I'm just getting it out of the life of Jehu. If you knew anything about Jehu, I'd believe it with all my heart. Jehu didn't just come up there and say, who's on my side? Huh? Anybody know anything about Jehu? Jehu didn't just come up there and say... Anybody on my side? He said, who is on my side? He's having to lift up his voice. He's talking much higher than where he is. And he said, who? And there looked out to him two or three eunuchs. Did you notice what he said to Jezebel? Anybody? What was it? You mean he didn't even recognize her? He didn't say nothing to her? Nothing? You know why he didn't say nothing to her? That wasn't the job God gave him. God didn't say, go talk to Jezebel. And two or three units looked out. He said, hey, throw her down. It's over. Father, please help us. God, we need you, please. I'm asking you, Lord, to help me in Jesus name, I pray. Amen and amen. You can be seated. Thank you for standing. Now, go back to the first part of Kings, second Kings chapter nine. And we're going to look at how all this whole thing transpired. And I know you probably, let me say this, let me say this, brother, Brother Gary preached last Sunday night. Brother Mike preached this past Wednesday night, so they'll understand what I'm saying. You know what helps a preacher out when he's preaching? Whether you're enjoying it or not, you just act like you do. I mean, you know, someone like Brother Gary's got a good wife sitting beside him. If he dozes off, she can elbow him. Won't bother me none. Go ahead and do it, sis. That's what I'm talking about. I didn't mean about them, but she doesn't anyway. Brother Mike's got kids all around him. Somebody said, Garrett, you sit behind. You see him doze off, just kind of behind the head. He just give you to go ahead on how to do that. Whether you enjoy it or not, you might not be distracting somebody behind you. which you wouldn't want to do because they might be needing some help. Now, last year the prophet called one of the children of the prophets and said unto him, gird up thy loins and take this box of oil in thine hand, and go to Ramoth Gilead. And when thou comest hither, look out there, Jehu, the son of Jehoshaphat, the son of Nemshad, and go in, and make him rise up among his brethren, and carry him into an inner chamber. Then take the box of oil and pour it on his head, and say, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel. You know, the Lord has done some things in the Bible a lot of times that, just to be honest with you, didn't make sense. Did you know, as a general rule, the only time ever there was a change of command among kings was whenever one died? But there's still a king in a position. And the Lord told Elijah, he said, go anoint Jehu so that he'll be the king. You know what I think it is? I think he just picked who's king. He just picked who's king. You know what he really got to thinking? I believe this with all my heart. I believe he got to a place in his life. He thought, hey, I'm the man. Everybody's going to listen to me. I've seen a lot of preachers like that, haven't y'all? I've met a lot of preachers. I mean, listen. Listen, listen, listen. Let me define something to you about a preacher. He's a man. He makes mistakes. That's why you're not to lift up the preacher. You're to pray for him. Please don't stop that. Please don't stop that. But I've seen too many preachers that was exalted way too much. And the next thing you know, you've seen them doing a nosedive. And I'm telling you, when they come down, they come down. It's over. It's over. They're off the wall. They ain't off the chain, they're off the wall. Amen. And so the Bible says in verse number 5, And when he came, behold, the captains of hosts were sitting, and he said, I have an errand to thee, O captain. And Jehu said, unto which of all us? And he said, to thee, O captain. And for the sake of time, I'm skipping a lot right here. And so, after he's anointed king, he says in verse 7, Thou shalt smite the house of Ahab thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants, the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord at the hand of Jezebel. You know what I think a lot of folk do? They forget that God don't forget. They forget that God don't forget. Now, it's easy for you and I, it's easy for you and I to forget where God is from. I'm glad tonight I've said it already several times and I'll be saying it until Jesus comes. I'm glad I ain't going to hell. I'm glad I'm saved. I'm glad that the Lord rescued me. Is there anybody else in here that's glad of the same thing? I'm honest before the Lord. There's people that I've seen before that said they were Christians. I wanted to hook them up to a lie detector test and then ask them, are you glad you're saved? Just to see if the truth was going to come. If that thing does bear the truth, I don't know. But I want to say tonight that God has been good to me and He's blessed me and He's taken care of me. That don't mean that He's gave me a lot of money. That don't mean that He's given me a lot of goods. That don't mean God's blessed you because He's given you stuff. What means that He's blessed you is that He gave you an opportunity to trust in the shed blood of His Son, to get rid of your sin problem, to pay your sin debt, I'm telling you, I don't know about all that stuff. Listen, I'm just saying tonight, I know I ain't going to hell. And I know it's because of the blood of Christ. I may not know a whole lot, and I'll be the first one to admit all that, but I know this, I know I ain't going to hell. Isn't that good? Isn't that comforting? Now what the devil does, when you make statements like that, the devil does, he comes by and he'll make you start doubting your salvation. I mean, you just you just get to bragging on God and talk about how good it is to be saved and everything. And the next thing you know, somebody come up with a new way to be saved and you say, well, I didn't do that. You mean you got to join the church and then. And the next thing you know, you're as confused as a termite in a yo-yo. I ain't made you look. So what am I doing here today? Let's look at Jehu. Let's look at him. Verse 10, the Bible says, And the dogs shall eat Jezebel in the portion of Jezreel, and there shall be none to bury her. Now, that's not a real good future planned out for. I'd hate to know that the way I was going to end up my life is that dogs was going to eat me. He said in verse number 11, Then Jehu came forth to the servants of his Lord, and one said unto him, Is all well? Wherefore came this mad fellow to thee? Now, notice this. These next three verses, 11, 12, and 13, he's dealing with people that are still under the regime of, as far as they know, the reigning king. Okay? So what did he say? He said, who was this madman that come over here? A madman? He was the man that Elisha sent. He was the man that God told Elisha to send over there and anoint David. Who came? And you call him a madman? You know what a lot of people say about Brother Leroy? He's mad. Crazy. Crazy. I mean, he's just ridiculous. He ain't mad that he ain't going to hell. And if you'll sit down and talk with him very long, he's probably, he's one millionth to the Lord. I'll agree with that. Now, that's the way we're talking, okay? I appreciate you talking about what that is. But if you get the real truth in all that, I wonder how many people, Brother Gary, he's been instrumental in helping and leading back on the right path away from Phariseeism. Say, what is he? He's just an old-time Holy Ghost preacher. Just an old-time Holy Ghost preacher. Say, that stuff makes me nervous. It makes me nervous when it changes over to the New Time. It gets in that New Time stuff. I get to thinking about it. It's just about borderline charismatic. It's just about borderline contemporary. I mean, it's right on the edge of it. It ain't far from it. It's a whole lot closer to that than it is old time. Amen. So what are you? Hey, if I die tomorrow, I'm hoping that I'll go down in history. I won't. But it'll be a blessing if they say, you know what? He just lived in an old time way. Hey man, I like little brother Willard. Brother Willard's dead and gone. Hey, them old creatures is gone. They're gone. They're dying off the sea. You say, well, I didn't care for them. No way. What's wrong with you? What's wrong with you? But I'm telling you, them old men of God. My boy wants them old preachers. Your boy loves them old preachers. Why not just stand them all up there in front of your children and say, I'm telling you kids, here's what you ought to not do. Don't listen to that preacher. Don't listen to that preacher. But you won't say nothing when Joe comes on there. I'm just saying, I'm just saying tonight, I'm trying to get the message what I'm trying to get to. And Jehu came forth to the service of the Lord, and one said unto him, Is all well? Wherefore came this mad fellow to thee? And he said unto him, Ye know the man, and his communication. And they said, It is false! It's false! They just asked who he was, and what he wanted, and all he said was, You know him, and you know what he talks about, and you know what he does. And they said, It's a lie! They never taught him what it was. He just said it ain't right. Modern day. And he said thus and thus spake he to me, saying, Thus saith the Lord, I have anointed thee king over Israel. And they hastened. They hastened. Well, things change when everything is king. You know, Jehu, I believe this here, before Jehu ever made king, Jehu had a testimony. Jayhue had a testimony of being a captain that was way out of the norm. You know what's wrong with this day and hour we live in? We got captains. We'll call them captains. Y'all don't mind if I call them captains? You want me to call them something you understand better? We got pastors. They ain't settled on nothing. They one thing today, next week they're going to be something else. Next week they're going to be something else. Next week they're going to be something else. You know God don't call them pastors. They just took a job. And the profit committee voted him in. And as long as the money was coming in, I'll never forget, Tony Hudson was talking about some man, some man come to him and said, look here, we got this guy applying for church and he comes up here and he says he's got to have this and this and that and that and everything else. And he just said, if y'all vote him in, y'all deserve him. This is worthy. There's a lot of churches have a lot of pastors. They deserve the pastor they have. They deserve it. You said they come in and they spend all their money. They deserve that. Look back at what Mike said at 195, something about track record. Look back at the track records. Look back at what's going on in their lives. Look, look, listen. I'm just saying, I'm saying tonight. Listen, we're living in a world, by the darn how, when a lot of wolves is coming forth in sheep clothing. We always blame it on the little sheep. But I believe there's a lot of preachers that's coming out that's supposed to be sheep, but they're wearing another outfit. I've met them. I've known them. I've watched them. I have seen them fleece the flock. I have seen them steal. I have seen them run off with the women. I ain't seen none of them run off with a man. I hope I don't see nothing like that. But I'm telling you, I'm telling you, they hadn't run up with nobody like Jehu yet. Jehu had a job. This guy here, don't get tired. He makes me sick. I get tired. I got to sit down. I'm tired, brother. Long day of working. I couldn't imagine working with Brother Gary all day long. He'd kill me. He probably could have got away with not saying that, couldn't he? He's working in death. I can get up on that lawnmower and just All day in that hot sun, that weed eater. I'm just talking about for myself at my house now. And you know by the end of the day, I'm ready to rest. I'm tired. Of him. He has family, he gets a phone call. Somebody off the boat, whatever it is. They gotta go. You know what Jehu said? He said, who does he want? He said, you. He said, well, let's go. Brother Chris was talking about the days whenever we were... Brother Chris was ordained. Our ordination service was on the same day in this church. Remember that? Y'all remember that? Brother Chris' dad come down. Sister Donna's dad come down. I forget a lot of the folk that was here doing the preaching. I forget who all it was. I've got a whole list back there. Remember, Chris was talking about this while I was up there this week. About how that things are so different now than they were then. As young preachers, things are so different now than they were then. God told Elisha, He said, get the man and all, go anoint him and tell them he's the new king. Is that right? Not today. You want me? Hold on. Let me find my phone. See if I'm going to be busy on that day or not. I might have some prior engagements. You see, things have changed so much. That's why I said what I said this morning about Chris Lewis. His ministry is 114 miles away from where he lives. If you don't have a missionary, we're going to raise his support. If you don't have a missionary, and you want a missionary. He's not a good one. He's a great one. He's taking them men in that prison house right now through a Bible study course that ain't costing them one dime. He takes care of everything. I don't know who else does the grading. I think there's somebody in prison that helps him do the grading. Somebody at church does it. He is doing everything he can to help them. But he only lives two miles from church. Now the norm of this day and hour is... I think we know, don't we? But you don't understand preacher, I've always wanted a farm. Spell the word farm for me. I had a man tell me one time he wanted to move out. I want to move a long way. I want to plant fruit trees and I want to have a great time in my orchard. I said, you got a pretty good size backyard. He said, yeah. I said, how many fruit trees back there? He said, none. And you think if you move away, did you know that the average person don't even know when the devil is enticing them to get away from God? They don't even know. They will not even consider, Brother Jeff, is this the Lord or is this just me? If you ever have a question that pops up in your mind like that, and you want an opinion that's going to be pro-church all the way, come ask me. Come ask me. I'm going to do everything I can to tell you, don't do it. Buy the duplex next to the church. You say, but then I'll have neighbors that I want. Be patient. Buy the whole thing. You move in somebody you want beside you. And if you'll be patient, somebody else will see how well that's working in your life. And they'll come and ask me the same thing. And I'll have them by the next one right beside you. And it won't be long. The church folks going on the whole area. You say, that sounds like commune. Sounds like getting away from the world and then close to the church. It's ten after seven. Keep some of you from doing like this here, 10 after 7. I'm glad to be home. So, Jehu, the son of Jehoshaphat, verse 14, the son of Nimshad, conspired against Doram. Now, Doram had kept Ramoth Gilead, he and all Israel, because of Hazel, King of Syria. But King Joram, that's unusual the way the Lord had him write that, ain't it? Was returned to be healed in Jezreel. You know why? You know why I believe he wanted to write it down right there? King Joram? Because he's still king in the eyes of the people. 15 But King Joram was returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds which the Assyrians had given him when he had fought with Hazel king of Assyria. 16 And Jehu said, If it be in your minds, then let none go forth nor escape out of the city, to go to Tillut in Jezreel. 17 And Jehu rode in a chariot, and went to Jezreel, for Joram lay there." And Ahazael king of Judah was come down to see Joram and there stood a watchman in the tower of Jezreel who spied the company of Jehu as he came and said, I see a company. And Joram said, take a horseman and send to meet them and let him stay. Is it peace? Why do you think this family This lineage of Ahab and Jezebel is so worried about Jehu and peace. Well, they know where Jehu came from. And Jehu has been given direction from God. So they went out on horseback to meet him. So there went one on horseback to meet him and said, thus saith the king, is it peace? And David said, what hast thou to do with peace? Turn thee behind me. And the watchman told, saying the master came to them, but he cometh not again. Well, that was safe. Then he sent out a second on horseback, which came to them and said, thus saith the king, is it peace? And Jehu answered, What hast thou to do with peace? turned he behind me. And the watchman said, He came even unto them, and cometh not again. And the driving is like the driving of Jehu the son of Meshiach, for he driveth furiously." Now, when you're known by the way you drive, you're probably not a good driver. Very few people have ever told me about somebody that was a great driver you'd enjoy riding with him. But I got two son-in-laws. Neither of which will qualify for the good driving status. One trip Danny DeLeo, I'm going to need your help. I can tell you they don't believe me. One trip to New York City, they'll believe. They'll believe enough that he's the bad driver that God will probably save them just on that belief. And David, I pray in the morning, God, my children, my grandchildren, David, he said, I know, son, I know. They said Jehu drove furiously. They recognized who it was just because it was driving. Now, when somebody's in a hurry to drive fast, so it just seemed to make good common sense to me. If somebody is driving fast toward you that don't like you, things ain't looking good. Wouldn't you think that? I mean, I mean, if somebody pulled in your driveway and they're just like, and you say, Oh, Lord, have mercy. That guy there, I owe him money. I don't want him to come to my house. Be bad. They recognized it was Jacob. And they recognize that he's in a hurry. Let's see what he says. Verse number 21, and Joram said, Make ready for his chariot was made ready, and Joram king of Israel. And Ahazi king of Judah went out, each in his chariot, and they went out against Jehu, and met him in the portion of Naboth, the Jezreelite. I'm going to have to reread that. Don't mind if I re-read it to you. It looked like we might have missed a little something right there. "...and met him in the portion of Naboth." The Jezreelite. You know where they met him at? They met him over there where Ahab had stole that property from. From a man named Naboth. Let's go back and read a verse. Go back to verse number 7. And thou shalt smite the house of Ahab, thy master, that I may avenge the blood of my servants, the prophets, and the blood of all the servants of the Lord at the hand of Jezebel. Do you know who was responsible for Naboth dying? Jezebel. And the Lord ain't forgot it. Now, I realize this. I realize this. A lot of times we get right with God. We think we get right with God. Our sin's under the blood. And we testify. We testify of all the good things that we like in the Bible. We testify of how our sins are as far as east as west. Because that's in the Bible. And then we testify of how they're in the depths of the sea. And everybody remember it again. Because that's in the Bible. We like that. But we don't say much bad stuff that we are too embarrassed to pray about and ask forgiveness of. Or we surely wouldn't tell nobody about it. And they met on Naboth's old property. And when Jehu asked about peace, I mean, Jehoram asked about peace, he said, what do you know about it? What does your family know about peace? You know what the devil has done? Everything he could. Everything he could. Everything he's literally able to do. He wants us to forget everything that's right as a Christian. I want to try to get you to forget everything that's good as a Christian. Just forget it all. I want you to forget everything Everything that preachers preached about, everything that Sunday school teachers taught about, everything that your mom and daddy has instructed you of, everything that the evangelist ever said, when it becomes so critical, I believe, Brother Joe, I believe, it might be okay if I say this, I believe that if the Lord Himself come by and preached one Sunday, somebody would say, I don't know about that, they're not Amen. Y'all can say amen if y'all want to. I know some of you that would. I was up here at Ship to Shore. Who knows where that is? Ship to Shore. Sounds like a vacation resort, don't it? Ship to Shore. It's the seafood place. They sell fish. I like fish. I like tilapia. I like pollock. I love that. Oh, you can eat shrimp. I love that. I like the others. I love the shrimp part. You know why I didn't eat some fish the last time I went in there? Do you know what I got in my mouth? You're going to believe this. A stinking bone. Now listen, because I know that bones are available in those conditions. I did not call the manager over to the table. I know if I'd have been a good dad, just what I'd have done, I'd have stood up and done... There's a bone in my fist! And the only reason I've done that is to get attention. That's why a lot of people, when they hear stuff that they disagree with, has got to say something about it. I've been thinking about having him back. I like him. I don't mind if God's helped me. Guess what he hit me with? With the old-time way. That's why I like Brother Willard so much. You know what Brother Willard had this uncanny ability to do? He could get you off to the side and he could talk to you and make you feel like you was the most important person in the world. I've talked to a lot of people that knew him personally. Every one of them said the same thing. He just makes you feel like there ain't nobody else in the world that matters. He was supposed to be here in May. We see him in March. You know what he done for me and my wife? He come up to us at John Dale's meeting. At John Dale's meeting, he come up to us. He said, Dad, he said, I want to do this. I said, what's that preacher? He said, I want to take you and your wife out to dinner. He said, you and Brother Joe and Brother Mike Norman, I want to take you out to dinner. And he took us to some country cooking real good restaurant in Gainesville. And Brother Joe, you know how he is. I thought it was going to be a battle. I said, if he jumps on this old man, I might hit this young man. He said, no, no. I want to do this. He made us feel special. And a lot of these young guys, you listen to what I'm going to say, because this is just the opposite. This is just the contrary. A lot of these young guys are coming along. And they don't need to say thank you. You know God ain't going to use loans? This is from Brother Leroy. And it's his wife writing. Y'all know who I'm talking about. This is what she calls him. You know what Sister Glass calls Brother Glass? Brother Glass. And he calls her Sister Lucy. You know what goes with all that? Respect. Brother Leroy cannot stop talking about the wonderful services you all had last week. That's pretty prompt. Last week. He claims this is the best revival you've ever had when he is the guest preacher. Wow. He had lots of freedom because Your church was prayed up and ready for revival. Thank you for your support and your generosity. We appreciate you all. Thanks for everything, Leroy and Gail Valribel. Jehu had a job to do. And Jehu didn't know nothing except doing what he was told to do. Joram saw Jehu, verse 22, and he said, Is it peace, Jehu? Did you ever notice whenever you call somebody's name, it sounds like they're all friends? Brother Don Crider had a friend that used to come to his church. And they really were friends. And he called him by his name. He just called him by his name. He didn't call him brother. He called him Paul. He said, Paul, what you doing? Now if he's behind the pulpit, he's Brother Paul. He said, Paul, what you doing? What you doing? He always calls Brother Gary and he'll say, Brother Dixon, what are you doing? I caught him the other day. When he caught me the other day, he went to the dentist and the dentist's drill bit came loose in his mouth. You know what he did? I said, you swallowed it? You just got to know Don Crowder, that boy. He's looking for an early retirement. That's what he's looking for. I know him. I know that boy. I said, you swore at it? He said, yeah. I said, what they gonna do? He said, I got to go in for surgery. If I'd been in that chair, are you kidding me? Son, I'd have sounded like a V8 running on two They'd have had 9-1-1. Everybody that was in the visiting area would have been evacuating out of that place. Don't look at me like that. Y'all been doing the same thing. He said, is everything OK, Jesus? And he answered, what piece? Now, listen, this would probably break fellowship right here if you answer somebody like this. that could possibly, you think they might be one of your cohorts. He said, what peace, so long as the whoredoms of thy mother Jezebel and her witchcrafts are so many? Can I say this about Jehu? He wasn't scared to pursue the job that God put him on. Now, be mindful of this. Look up here. Be mindful of this, brothers and sisters in the Lord. Be mindful of this. He didn't use that same kind of language with everybody. I've seen a lot of preachers thought they had talked to everybody like they was hound dogs. That ain't your job. That ain't my job. If Jesus can have compassion on a woman that had five husbands and forgive her and give her a drink and talk to her even though that she's not a full-blooded Jew. Somebody help me right here. What do you think Jesus wants out of us? I just want to be like the Lord. Somehow or another, if He's willing to put up with me long enough to conform me into the image of His Son, if God's willing to do that, I want to be like Him. I want to be like Him. I don't want to say stupid stuff. I don't want to try to impress you with some kind of vast knowledge. I just want to be like Christ. If we can be like Him, wow, you know what's going to happen, don't you? Can I prepare you for it? I prepare you for it? If you'll get like Christ, then watch out. Somewhere along the way, that maniac is going to be running after you. That maniac will be chasing you. And he won't be trying to cut you. And he won't be calling the law on you. He'll be saying, help me. We've got to look on and try to get somewhere. And Jehoram turned his hands and fled and said to Ahaziah, Ahaziah, there is treachery. Oh, Ahaziah. And Jehu drew a bow with his full strength and sloped Jehoram between his arms. And the arrow sunk, went out of his heart and he sunk down in the chariot. Can we back this picture up? I said I didn't want no picture like Brother LeRoy that we painted him this morning. But let's paint this picture. Here's Jehu with a bow. And he's after one of the sons of Ahab. Now Ahab, Ahab was a man that tried to trick a man into wearing his garments. Is that right? If you read that story when it was Jehoshaphat and Ahab, Ahab told him, you put on my outfit and you'll be safe. But you know what, even in the Old Testament, the Spirit of God led people. That's why it's important to walk in the Spirit. Had they not been walking in the Spirit, do you know what would have happened? You say, they weren't walking in the Spirit. Oh, so you think it was just accidental then that Ahab got shot being the king in the battle and Jehoshaphat with his clothes on didn't get shot. Oh, now I'm starting to understand where you got that knowledge from now. From foolish daydreaming. And here's Jehu. I wonder did his dad ever tell him, Jehoshaphat, son of Nimshah. You know what that crazy Ahab tried to do one time? He tried to trick me into wearing my outfit so I'd get shot and he'd ride away happy-go-lucky. He said, I'll tell you son, You stay away from Ahab and his family. And that thing's on Jehu's mind. And I'm telling you, when God said, go down there and anoint him king over Israel, and here's what I want you to do. Don't you know that just thrilled his heart? Would it you? It would have me. I would have said, are you kidding me? I've got liberty to chase this rascal down and kill him? Woo! I'm excited. If I was excited, some of y'all ought to win. See, I'm just not an excited person. You ain't got to tell me that. You ain't got to tell nobody that. And don't come up to me after church and say, I'm just not an excited person. I already know it. Then said Jehu to Bidkar his captain, take up and cast him in the portion of the field of Naboth the Jezreelite, and remember how that when I and Baal rode together after Ahab his father the Lord laid this burden upon him. Surely I have seen yesterday the blood of Naboth and the blood of his son, saith the Lord, and I will requite thee in this plait, saith the Lord. Now, therefore, take and cast him into the pot of ground according to the word of the Lord." One down, another to go. But when Ahazi, the king of Judah, this is the brother of Jehoram, the king of Judah saw this, he fled by the way of the garden house. And Jehu followed after him and said, in the chariot. You know where they have died, don't you? In the chariot. And they did so at the going up the girth, which is by, I believe, and he fled to Megiddo, or wherever that's at, Megiddo, and died there. And his servants carried him in a chariot to Jerusalem and buried him in the sepulchre with his fathers in the city of David. Verse 30. And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it. You know what? It don't take long for somebody that's wicked to hear about things that are going on that God's in charge of. It don't take long when God's fulfilling some of His jobs that he's got somebody doing that the wicked find out. And they're against it. And they want to stop it. I thought about this. And when Jehu was come to Jezreel, Jezebel heard of it, and she painted her face and tied her head and looked out at a window. You know what she done, Brother John? She probably just got her a chair. sat down there in front of that window and just waited on him. Probably some of them folks say, do you see him yet? No, but he's coming. I know Jehu. And I know his family. And word has probably already got back that Joram's dead. Ahaziah's dead. They buried him. One of them, they left him in the field right there where Naboth was at. If she would have expounded on her situation, she might have said something like this, you know, I don't see them yet, but they're coming. And they're coming after me. You know what I would want as a testimony in my life? That the enemy was coming. and coming after me. And I understand that the devil ain't never happy with us, but I also understand if that hedge is taken care of properly, he ain't going to have the kind of liberties that you think he's going to have. We give way too much credit to the devil. Most people would think he's God. I mean, if he had... I think it was Brother Chris who said this this week. How much devil, how much power, if you was going to measure how much power the devil had. I mean would you say that, would you say that it got that much? Or that much? Would you say, oh look in on a ruler, Brother Darnell, Or tape measure, would you say, if the devil had one inch worth of power, would it not be safe to say that there is no way to measure the power of God? Would that be safe to say? I mean, if the devil's got one inch worth of power, 12 inches doesn't define the power of God. 36 inches don't define it. 240 inches of 20 foot tape don't define it. It's unmeasurable. If that is the case, why does the devil get so much victory in our life? Why do we listen to him? Why do we submit to so much power and authority? All he told us to do is to walk in the light. That's all he said. He told Jehu what to do. And I'm telling you, Jehu didn't stop until the job was done and Ahab's house was cleaned out. But just to show you what kind of a man I'm trying to hurry and finish, she's probably done put the third tape in by now, CD. God was so pleased with what Jehu did. You know the Bible story. He was so pleased with what Jehu did because Jehu obeyed the Lord, didn't he? He said, to the fourth generation of your family, you'll be seated on the throne of Israel. Is that what it says? That's exactly what it says. And the next verse, the next verse, the next verse, the next verse, Jehu quit walking with God. You know why? Because he's just a man. That's why it's so ultimately important for you to be in church. I like that message. I like that message. Mother Knox preached about that pastoral authority, how important it is for you to be a member of the church. I mean, it's important. It's important. You know why? Because you need a pastor. I'm going to preach things about things that you do that I don't even know you're doing them. And I'm going to preach against them because the Holy Spirit's going to say, why don't you mention this this morning? And I'm not going to argue with God and say, God, if I mention that, they're not going to come back because I don't know they're doing it. The Holy Spirit says they need to hear it. As we grow as Christians and preachers and singers and teachers, We do learn that there's a way to say things and there's a way not to say things. I heard what Joe said on this one. I said, how church is going? He said, oh son, I preach hard. When Joe Chance, did he preach hard? Huh? Hit me. Am I right? It ain't what you see on Joe Chance all day. When he said, I preach hard. I said, you preach hard? He said, oh boy, real hard. Well, all I can say is Paul the Ruff over here today. I said, y'all have church tonight? He said, yeah, you know we have church on Sunday. You know what Jehu did? He did what God told him to do. He did what you and I don't want to do. I don't want to have to hurt nobody. I'm always praying God help them so nobody hurts them. I pray for young people. I pray for mommas and daddies, family members. I pray, God, help them. Give them wisdom. Lord, if they jump track, get them back on track. That's easy, ain't it? And Lord, Brother Gary, I pray this. I say, Lord, when it's all said and done, help them to keep loving me. Say, I don't care if they love me or not, then God can't use you. If you don't care how folk cares about you, how's God going to use you? That's part of ministry. The greatest helpers I've ever seen of Christians, people in the ministry, was people that just loved people to death. I'll never forget Brother Paul Cornett. He told me this one time. He said, did you know Brother Paul, did you? I don't know if he was going over there for whatever. Brother Paul probably not. Probably not. Brother Paul said this with tears. I'm telling you, you can believe this when I tell you this because you know I'm telling the truth. with tears in his eyes. He said, oh son, oh son. And he'd get to crying. I'm just sniffing. You know how he done. You know what I'm talking about. He said, if we could just love each other. If we could just love each other. I ain't loving people down the road. One day, one day, something might happen to one of them kids. Just using y'all cause you got a whole row full of kids. One day, something might happen to that baby or the next one. And you're going to want people praying from every church in town. Jean Jowers had cancer. They took her eye out and they put a radiation cap in her behind her eye. Precious Saint of the Lord. Loved her to death. Loved her and Brother Robert. Precious. She had cancer. And the lady that lived across the road walked over one day just to say hello. And she said, Miss Jane, would you mind if we prayed for you? She said, are you kidding me? She said, I'd be so happy. And some of y'all wouldn't want that woman praying for y'all because they own that bar down there. that would have probably not even saved. It might not be. But what she said was a blessing to the one that was. Do you see how easy that we can pick and dissect and destroy everything in this flesh? Would you agree with me, Danny? that the devil has a whole lot more liberty and power in us than we want to give him credit for. If God's got all the power in the world, you tell me where's the maniacs? I want to be a Jehu. I ain't want to kill nobody. I'm just wanting to fulfill my job that God's given me to do. And I want to make the Lord happy. That's all I want to do. That's all. Why don't y'all come sing a song? Why don't y'all come sing a song? You might want to come pray. Just come find you a place. Come find you a place. I'm sorry. Excuse me. Just come find you a place. Maybe you might want the Lord to use you to be a Jehu Doesn't mean that you're going to have the fastest chariot in town. It means that you're going to be one of those that said, here am I, send me. Lord, whatever you want to do with me and my life, that's what I want too. It used to be when God would give somebody a job to do, David, they was tickled to death about it. Not no more. Did you know people look like they're mad because God gave them something to do? It might be best that a lot of people ain't tell them that. I'm glad that he called me to preach. I'm glad. I'm glad. I don't feel like I'm a very good preacher by no means. Way down at the bottom. But I'm still glad that he considered me. Brother Matt, if he wants me to do something different tomorrow, all he's got to do is say so. If he wanted me to, if he wanted me to pack up and go out there in Missouri, I didn't know that they grow rice in Missouri. I thought the only place you could buy grass was Vietnam or China, wherever they grew it over there. Missouri's full of it. Full of rice everywhere. Farmland. The town they live in. Maybe, as of the year 2012, the population was a little bit under 2,000. They got a Casey's General Store. Some kind of garage and an IGA. And one caution line. Can I tell you something? That'd be a great place to live. Why? There ain't a whole lot of opportunity to stay in there. Maybe tonight you might want to thank Lord I want to lay my life out there. Like Jehu did. You know what Jehu never did? If he did this, it's not recorded, Brother Mike. It's not recorded where he laid on his face and begged God to use him all the days of his life. How do you reckon God just knew he wanted to be used? Or that he was willing to be used? Well, they've seen. You want to play? The Lord made me in Jehu. Come get it.
