Alright, pick up your Bibles and turn to the book of Daniel. The book of Daniel. And we're finishing up tonight. And we're going to start at verse 36 of chapter 11. Verse 36. We mentioned to you that almost every scholar and commentary believes that verse 36 is a shift. It's a shift in context, it's a shift in subject, and a shift in personality. And it seems to be clearly talking about the future Antichrist. Surprisingly, even the Jewish rabbis of the Middle Ages called the Antichrist the Antichrist. They actually called him the Antichrist, where that is generally a New Testament term. Another reason that we believe this is the Antichrist is because the Apostle Paul makes a very distinct reference in verse 39 to this section and does himself, the Apostle, apply this to To the Antichrist, so I think all the evidence is there though The change is abrupt you have to kind of look twice, but I do believe that 36 on is the Antichrist Let's pick up with that and and move forward from that point then the king will do as he pleases he will exalt and magnify himself above every God and He will speak monstrous things against the God of gods. He will prosper until the indignation or the wrath or the period of trouble is finished. For that which is decreed will be done. This verse itself also does not speak of Antiochus Epiphanes. It's larger than that. That verse is larger than Antiochus and the whole scope of the verse. is bigger than simply Antiochus Epiphanes. So this would be a good evidence that we're now we've shifted to someone else. He will show no regard for the gods of his fathers. Now, that passage can be translated. The word gods is in Aramaic, it's Elohim. And that's a plural form. And the translators have translated this gods, lowercase. Some have said it's speaking of the God of Scripture, and so he will show no regard for Elohim of his fathers, meaning that he is repudiating the God of the Old Testament. I believe that it's correct to translate this as lowercase. If it were God, then it would tell us that he's a Jew. He's Jewish, but still coming out of Rome. This is without question, the Antichrist will come out of Rome. If it's God's, then he's a Gentile. The reason I think that he is a Gentile, is well, first of all, to translate this way, and secondly, that he does come out of Rome, but he must really, really fool the Jews, because he does give them permission to rebuild the temple. And this man has tremendous power, and even though he's probably a Gentile, the Jews believe he's the Antichrist. The Jews believe he's the Antichrist. And when I say Antichrist, let me back up a notch. They believe he's the Messiah, he's the Christ. though he's the Antichrist. They believe that it's when he comes that he will be the Messiah. I hope I didn't confuse you. When I said a moment ago, ancient Jewish rabbis, when they talk about the Antichrist, they do that in the Middle Ages. My point here is that when he comes and reveals himself, The Jews, when that happens, when he reveals himself at the first part of the tribulation, they will think he's the Messiah, that he's the Christ. I hope I didn't confuse you on that. I understand that because I ran two thoughts together and I want to make sure you understand. He will show no regard for the gods of his fathers or for the desire of women. He will have a false asceticism about him. I don't have any sex with women. I'm a purist. So he'll appear very pious. He'll appear at first very moral. And that's what will attract many to believe he is the Messiah. Now remember too, he'll be revealing himself at the time when the world is looking for a strong man. The world will be desperate for someone to solve the problem of the Middle East. And he will come at that moment. He will reveal himself at that moment. And voom. The Jewish rabbis at that time will say, well, he's the Messiah. And the Gentiles will say, hey, he can pull the world together. He can bring peace in the Middle East. And so he will fool people, of course. He's really inspired by Satan and not of the God of the Old Testament. Nor will he show regard for any other God. He will magnify himself above them all. So it's not only will he repudiate the God of the scriptures, he will repudiate all gods. He will consider himself as the ultimate over all gods. Instead, he'll honor the God of power are the fortresses, meaning that he believes in operating by power and strength. A god whom his fathers did not know, he will honor him with gold, silver, costly stones, and treasures. He will take action against the strongest of fortresses. And most commentators believe that the fortresses in both these verses are talking about powers, countries, nations that are strong. With the help of a foreign God now, who's the foreign God? He will do this with the help of a foreign God. I Well, I China of course is Is considering itself atheistic right now whether it is or not. I think this could be Islam this be the God of Islam He will give honor to those who acknowledge him as and he will cause them to rule over the many, he will parcel out land for a price. Now, exactly what does that mean? That's hard to get a hold of. Exactly what are we talking about there? What are we talking about specifically? Well, apparently, those who honor him, those who give in to him, those who buy his agenda, he will give land and he'll give property, okay? And could that be the Middle East again? Could he give away part of Palestine? to make peace with the Jews and the Arabs? Don't know. This verse could imply that. Some of these things are hard to fill in the blanks as to exactly what they mean. And at that time, the King of the South, and everyone agrees that that's Egypt, will collide with him and the King of the North. The King of the North would more than likely be Russia. will storm against him with chariots, horsemen, many ships. He'll enter countries, overflow them, and pass through. He'll be attacked by the North and the South, Russia and Egypt, but of course he's going to be victorious. In this skirmish, in this skirmish, verse 41, he'll enter the beautiful land. He'll come into Israel. And many countries will fall, But these will be rescued out of his hand, Edom, Moab, and the foremost of the sons of Ammon." Now, who are those countries? That's Jordan today. That's Jordan. Now, we have verses in certain of the prophets that tell us that Moab, Edom, and Ammon, or Jordan, will be blessed by the Jews in the kingdom. Notice they're rescued out of his hand. He comes into the Middle East. He comes in and takes over Palestine. Apparently he takes over Jordan. which would be Moab, Edom, Ammon. But those peoples who are Jordan today are rescued from him, from his aggression. And they go into the kingdom. Jordan is blessed. The three names are part of Jordan today, the peoples that come from Moab, Edom, and Ammon. And by the way, Moab and Ammon, were children of the incestuous relations of Lot, okay? Of course, incredible story we have, and if you go back to the story of Lot. Then he will stretch out his hand against other countries, and the land of Egypt won't escape. He will gain control over the hidden treasures of gold and silver, over all the precious things of Egypt, Libyans, the Ethiopians will follow in his heel. That's North Africa. That's North Africa. So this man is suddenly coming into Palestine. He has taken over temporarily Jordan that is rescued out of his hands. He's mobile, he moves through Palestine, he goes down to North Africa, Egypt, Libya, Ethiopia. This man is an aggressor, and he's coming out of Rome, we believe, and he's very aggressive. But rumors from the east and from the north will disturb him. What would the east be? Many take that as China. That's China. North, again, would be Russia. If you take a line and go straight north from Israel today, you run into Moscow. And so north, the orientation here is always from the Holy Land. And the east could be China. We have a reference to the kings of the east in the book of Revelation. The kings of the east who will move into the Middle East in the great tribulation period. Now, all this is tribulational. Everyone understand that? This is the seven-year tribulational period. Verse 44, rumors from the east, from the north will disturb him. He will go forth with great wrath to destroy and annihilate many. He will pitch the tents of his royal provision, his headquarters, between the seas and the seas, when the Bible speaks of the sea or the seas, it's the Dead Sea in the Mediterranean. Dead Sea in the Mediterranean. So he's pitching, he's putting his headquarters in the beautiful mountains, which is Israel. So he comes in and occupies, takes over Israel. Now, when does verse 44 take place? The second half of the tribulation. The second half of the tribulation. When he comes into Jerusalem, comes into the Temple Mount, enters the Temple and proclaims himself as God. The Apostle Paul refers to that. Keep your finger here and go to 2 Thessalonians 2.4. 2 Thessalonians 2.4. In chapter 2 of 2 Thessalonians, Paul is telling the Thessalonian Christians, they're not in the day of the Lord. Because things can be bad, and we can even go into World War 3. World War 3, World War 1, World War 2, World War 3 is not the Tribulation. It's not the Tribulation. The day of the Lord has not come, Paul says in 2 Thess 2 2. Verse 3, 2 Thess 2 3. Let no one in any way deceive you. It won't come. The day of the Lord. Won't come. Unless the apostasy comes first and the man of lawlessness That's what we're talking about. Back in Daniel is revealed the son of destruction who opposes, exalts himself. Here it is. Paul's quoting straight out of Daniel, straight out of Daniel 11, who opposes and exalts himself above every so-called God or object of worship. And he takes his seat in the temple of God, displaying himself as being God, as being God. All right, you go back to Daniel 11. This is virtually what he does, and that's the last half of the tribulation. When that happens, when he enters the temple, a rebuilt temple, you gotta have a rebuilt temple. You've gotta have a rebuilt temple. When he does that, when he enters the temple, that starts the second half of the tribulation, the worst half, okay? Now, abruptly, Daniel stops this narration. about the Antichrist. He just stops cold, okay? And we pick up at chapter 12, verse 1. And what's gonna happen, Daniel now is gonna get a revelation of what the very, very, very, very end of things will be like. At that time, Michael, the great prince, who stands guard over the sons of your people, and Michael is an angelic being who is assigned to watch over Israel, the sons of your people, he will arise, and there will be a time of distress such as never occurred since there was a nation until that time." And that's what Christ says. Christ paraphrases his verse. Jesus paraphrases his verse. Since there was a nation until that time, at that time, your people, the Jews, everyone who's found written in the book will be rescued. There will be Jews who survive the tribulation. They will be rescued. They will be rescued from the aggression of the Antichrist and from all the hell that breaks out upon the whole world. Many Jews will die in the tribulation. These who are rescued will be the remnant who will survive the tribulation. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the ground will awake. These to everlasting life, others to disgrace and everlasting contempt. And those who have insight will shine brightly like the brightness of the expanse of heaven. Those who lead many to righteousness will shine like the stars forever and ever. And he divides Israel between believers and unbelievers, righteous and unrighteous. He cuts Israel virtually in half in verses 2 and 3. And by the way, notice he's not giving in verse 2 the timetable of the resurrection. The resurrection has various timetables. Now look up here, let me do some hand motion. Watch my hand motion. You've got the resurrection of the church saints. and the rapture, okay? You put along through the seven-year tribulation and you have the resurrection of the righteous Jews who will enter, and I say take it also righteous Gentiles from the Old Testament period, from the Old Testament period, who will enter the kingdom. At the end of the kingdom, you'll have the resurrection of the lost for final judgment. So we actually have three different resurrections and Daniel's not dealing with the time frame here. He's just making a statement. There'll be a resurrection to eternal life and the resurrection to disgrace and everlasting contempt. Even the lost will be given a new body. Even the lost will have a resurrection. Those that are alive then? No, they will be dead then resurrected. Now, all loss will be, no, that's my point. Only the loss will be resurrected for the great white throne judgment. The lost, right. Daniel does not show us the time frame here. He just makes a statement. All right, look at verse four. But as for you, Daniel, notice how things just kind of stopped abruptly in the narration. We don't get all the details of the tribulation narration until the book of Revelation. As for you, Daniel, conceal these words and seal up the book, Daniel's book, until the end of the time. In other words, it's not going to be fully understood or grasped. It's to be sealed up. It's to be closed down. It won't fully be understood until the end of time. Many will go back and forth and knowledge will increase. Notice between when you seal the book up, that it's emphasis and its message will not fully be understood until the end time. Meanwhile, in between, many will go back and forth and knowledge will increase. That's exactly what's happened the last 2,500 years. Technical knowledge. has exploded, absolutely exploded. We're in the most technical, I mean, it's incredible. Look at this little black box up here. This little black box, I can put, there's no tubes in it. There's no little staining tape. And I can put 36 hours, this is a professional recorder. I can put 36 hours of recording on here. And all this has happened over the last 15 years, this kind of technology. No tubes, no spinning tapes. It's recording all of that with a cell phone. I mean, goodness gracious, I can talk to somebody in China tonight. It's incredible. Unbelievable. 1970, I went to Israel for the first time. And to call back to Dallas took a day. You had to call an Israeli operator, put in the fact that you want to call the states, and you had to wait almost all day long. OK? Now, look at the differences from now. This. Even the idea of radio. This is a radio. This is a transmitter right now. It's transmitting to a receiver over there in the corner, picking up my voice. Absolutely incredible. And I showed you all yesterday an iPod half the size of this. I can record about 600 hours of audio on that little iPod, half the size of this. And I can put about 15 hours of movies on that little iPod. What does it say? Knowledge will increase. Men will run to and fro, but knowledge will increase. In other words, in between the sealing up, the full understanding of the book of Daniel, until the end, What you have in between, many will go back and forth and knowledge will increase. Then I, Daniel, by the way, very interesting. Now we come back to Daniel closing his own book. Looked and behold, two others were standing, one on this bank of the river, the other on that bank of the river. These are angelic beings, of course. One said to the man dressed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, apparently floating, above the waters of the river, how long would it be until the end of these wonders? And I heard the man dressed in linen, the two angelic beings are talking to each other, who was above the waters of the river, as he raised his right hand and his left towards heaven, and swore by him, God, who lives forever, that it would be for a time, times, and a halftime. Now, again, everybody calculates, time is one, times plural would be two and a half, time would be a half, three and a half years. This has been mentioned, I think, three times in the Book of Daniel. That's the last half of the seven-year tribulation. Daniel asks, when will all this come to finality? And the answer is the three and a half years, the last half of the seven-year period. that we saw back in chapter nine. The final seven year period that has to do with the Jewish people. So time is one, times is plural, two, half time, three and a half years. As soon as they finished shattering the power of the holy people, all these events will be completed. Now I got goosebumps. You know what that just said? When all of this trouble and terrors and the Antichrist when it's completed, when it's finished of falling on God's holy people, the Jews, then it's over. So watch, we have a seven year period left for the Jews, the Jewish people. Now watch my hand motion. The last seven and a half years, the last three and a half years is the worst period when they finish shattering the power of the Holy People, when the Jews are almost wiped out, with only a remnant left, then these events will be completed. In other words, all of the terrors of the world, all of the horror of the Antichrist, With with times coming like it have never been before go back to verse 1 of chapter 12 a time of distress that has never occurred. When is it going to end? When the final push against the Jewish people is completed when the final push the final terror upon the Jewish people is over, then God is over. God is through, I should say. God is through with all the hell on earth. The Jewish people are the key to the wars and to the turmoils of the nations. The struggles that's going on really, in a crazy way, revolve around the Jewish people. And when the final push comes against the Jewish people, the last three and a half years of the tribulation, then it's over. The world history will change. Jesus will come back, his feet will touch the Mount of Olives, and he will bring peace to the world. Now, also, he will institute capital punishment. People will die like flies. There will be capital punishment. The nations that mistreated the Jewish people, there will be capital punishment. It'll be a terrible period. And sometimes the only way to stop evil is to wipe everybody out. And that's what's going to happen at the end of the tribulation. Because the resistance against God, the resistance against his word, the resistance against the gospel is so strong. And the Jewish people are part of the key to all this. And it's not going to stop until the power is against the Jewish people, the holy people, the holy people is over. And then these events will be completed. Verse eight, as for me, Daniel, I heard, but could not understand. So I said, my Lord, what will be the outcome of these events? And he said to me, go your way, Daniel. These words are concealed and sealed up until the end time. Even Daniel could not get a full fix on what all this meant. Even Daniel couldn't grasp what was the details of how all this is going to come about. Many will be purged, purified, and refined. But the wicked will act wickedly, and none of the wicked will understand. Those who have insight will understand." Now, you have three classifications of people in that passage. There are those who are going to be purified by all this trouble. There's going to become a cleansing. there's going to come a maturity. Number two, the wicked won't get it, and yet there will be also some who will get it, who will have understanding and insight. From the time of the regular sacrifice, or from the time that the regular sacrifice is abolished, and the abomination of desolation is set up, there will be 1,290 days. Now look up here. Look up here a second. What did you just say? This desk pictures the seven-year tribulation. When will the abomination of the temple take place? When the Antichrist enters the temple halfway through the tribulation and sets himself up as God. when he enters the temple, three and a half years into the tribulation, and sets himself up as God. That's 1290 days. 1290 days is three and a half years. That figure is mentioned in the book of Revelation, 1290. So when will this take place? For the time of the regular sacrifice, when it's abolished, the Antichrist will enter the temple, the Jews will be offering sacrifice, He will cease the sacrifice, stop the sacrifice, that's three and a half years, 1,290 days. Now verse 12 is a puzzle. How blessed is he who keeps waiting and attains to the 1,335 days. Now look, what in the world does that mean? Okay, now look up here. If his conversation started at the middle of the tribulation, now watch. going forward to 1,290 days, it seems as if 1,335, he's added 45 more days. Now look, watch my hand motion again. Middle Tribulation, end of the Tribulation, three and a half years, 1,290 days, 1,335, if you subtract 1,335 from 1,290, you get 45 more days. So here's what many believe. I'll tell you what Dr. Wohl heard many believe, watch. The tribulation ends, three and a half years, the end of the desk, three and a half years. It is 45 more days before Christ consolidates his rule on the earth. 45 more days, a month and a half, a month and a half, When his feet touch the Mount of Olives at the end of the tribulation, a month and a half will pass before his government, his world government is fully established. But look at it again, how blessed is the one who keeps and attains to that extra 45 days, to that initial 45 days. The speculation is that's when Christ will have put down all the world empires and will have consolidated his kingdom. That's the best guess we got, okay? You might come up with another one, please let me know. That's the best that we seem to come up with. As for you, verse 13, Daniel, go your way to the end, then you'll enter into rest. You're gonna die, Daniel. and you'll rise again for your allotted portion at the end of the age. You will be resurrected at the end of the age. The Jews saw the end of the age as the tribulation. So when the tribulation's over, Daniel will be resurrected. And so will the other Jewish Old Testament saints. They'll be resurrected at the end of the age or the end of the, when the tribulation is over, when the tribulation's over. Alright, we've done Daniel. Questions? Any questions on Daniel? Will they come down with us? No. They won't come back with us? No. At the second coming? No, we come back with them, put it that way. Oh, okay. Yeah, kind of reverse that. Oh, so just before we come back. We come back and reign, we come back, we'll come from heaven, but they will be resurrected, put it that way. When we get here? Yeah. Oh, okay. Right. Daniel will not, Old Testament saints won't have resurrection until the tribute till the kingdom begins. And we come down with Christ when the kingdom begins. Okay? Any questions on this? Any questions? By the way, well, one of the things that we're doing, and it's, when you're studying a book like this, you're importing other verses into here to make it, to fill it out. Everything we said is not all said here, so we have to import from other passages to see how all this works. Let me make one more review with you, okay? The abomination of desolation is when the Antichrist enters the temple and proclaims himself God. He stops the Jewish sacrifice. The Jews will be sacrificing, okay? And then the end of the age is when the seven-year tribulation is over. There's an additional 45 days. We don't know why. We're guessing that that is the time that Christ will take to consolidate his kingdom. Nobody has any other better answer than that. You've got another additional 45 days, okay, from 1290 to 1335. then at that, when Christ comes back, we will be in heaven, we will come back with him, and the Jews of the Old Testament will be resurrected for the kingdom. I take also during the tribulation, picture this death as a tribulation, that the Jews who have died, well, righteous Jews and righteous Gentiles, righteous Jews and righteous Gentiles will be resurrected at the end of the tribulation to enter the kingdom. That's Old Testament stuff. Well, Old Testament, but also Tribulation saints. Those who were saints in the Tribulation. Remember, there are going to be a lot of people saved in the Tribulation. Jew and Gentile. Well, a remnant. We keep calling the Jews a remnant because many of them will be slaughtered. But you have a lot of Gentiles who will be saved in the Tribulation. A lot of Gentiles. and they'll be resurrected for the kingdom. Okay? Any other questions to fill this out? Don't sit with big question marks. Yes, Mary? I missed a couple of words. I've got the antichrist will enter the temple and blank at the end of the tribulation. Well, the middle of tribulation is when he enters the temple. The middle. Yeah, I know. Whatever he's going to do. From then until the end. Well, that'll be the worst period in the world and that's when he really turns against the Jews. The last three and a half years, he really, remember at the first of the tribulation, this is the first of the tribulation. Here's the seven years. He makes peace. And I believe he makes it possible for the temple to be rebuilt. He makes peace because you have a temple in the tribulation. The Jews are offering sacrifice. I think that they are protected to a degree. And then he turns against them halfway through the tribulation. Because they won't agree that he's God. Right. What's that? When he announces he's God. Yeah. They're going to say, oh. Right. That's right. He'll enter the temple, proclaims himself God. In fact, then in chapter 13 of Revelation, I believe it's 13, it speaks of his, maybe it's a couple chapters on down, in Revelation about his kingdom, his kingdom turning to darkness. In other words, it fails, it falls apart. And there'll be wars and all the ins and outs of his warfare. The last part of chapter 11 we read, He's thrown in the lake of fire. He's thrown in the lake of fire. By Jesus? Yeah, by Christ, right. At the same time that Satan goes? At the same time. Well, apparently he is confined into a place of hell until Satan is cast in the lake of fire and he's thrown in with him. That's the pit. Right. Okay, no more questions. Yes? When is Jordan, or when are they included? Exactly when that takes place, it doesn't explain there in Daniel chapter 11. It's unexplained. You know what's interesting is right now you have a very tenuous peace with the Egyptians, but the Jordanians right now, and I think this could just bleed right on over to the tribulation, are very, very pro, I mean they get along with the Jews very well right now. They got bloodied and therefore they, okay, we'll make peace, we'll make peace. And they're blessed, they're blessed. The Jordanians are blessed by the Jews. And by the way, one of the most, Dr. Eugene Merrill, who teaches Old Testament, Dallas Seminary, you won't believe this. In Jordan, you have an evangelical prophecy teaching seminary in Jordan. Dr. Eugene Merrill goes over there every year and teaches. Right in the middle of Jordan. The Jordanians allow a Christian seminary which is premillennial dispensational in Amman, Jordan. This seminary is active today. American girl? No, the king who just died was. Okay. And I don't think his son now has taken over. I don't think his son is married to an American girl. But the father before was. Okay. Well, she's over here now with her kids. From Kenya? Because his oldest son took his place. Yeah. His oldest son who's king now seems like a good guy. I mean, you know, as good guys go. I think she got her boys out of Very possible. She said, I better get out of here and get back to the States. Okay? All right, so before we get into our next half, which I'm looking forward to, let's take a break.
