Jerry, what's your praise buddy? Good week at work. Who's next? I'm better. You're better? I think I'm finally getting over my, whatever it was I had. Cool. Glenn, what's your praise? Well, AJ was able to be scooped up and be here today. He's been looking forward to it. He's doing a lot better in the group home. Good. Big praise. Good. Good to hear it. Who's next? Mary, I just want to say today is a wonderful day, is a blessed day. Yeah, it is indeed. Yep, Josh? I want to praise the Lord that everyone got to and from Church Camp Safe, no incidents, no accidents, no tickets. Yep. And I also want to praise the Lord that I was able to pick up a small job Saturday morning. So a little income is better than no income, so praise the Lord for that little small job. Amen. All right, who's next? This is the part Jesus gives. Don't be shy. Jerry. Well, Adam, just a couple of small jobs as well, not in the last couple of days, but just a typical week, a few jobs, and a lot of time on my hands, and all is good. Amen. All is well. Cool. Anybody else? Lorana. We made it back in April. You're back. Amen. I just want to also praise him for giving me scripture every day to keep me going. Amen. Because, you know, it comes to me in the devotional or in a, you know, something I read and I'm like, Oh, yes. Yeah, his promises never leave us. It's pretty amazing. Pretty amazing. Well, I guess I'll go next. Yesterday, Lisa put together this family thing with all the kids and a bunch of old friends that I hadn't seen in forever, some of them. And people showed up, and it was a great experience. It was emotionally exhausting, but it was a good thing. And the fish lasted just to the last plate. So that worked out. Yeah, we and my boys and grandson. There was a lot of them. But they ate them all. Good. So who else? Either. I just want to say I praise the Lord praise grace. Amen. Amen. And without that, I don't know what I would do. And I just want to thank him for letting me get up this morning, be able to get out of my bed, dress myself closed in my right mind. And being able to sit on my porch and drink my coffee. and see the redbirds and the bluebirds sit on the fence and the wind blowing in my ear. I'm just so thankful. I'm just thankful that God allowed me to have that. I don't know if I'll ever get it again. But that's some pretty wonderful stuff. I have no complaints. I was talking to a fellow yesterday, Lisa and I were looking at a just at an RV place. He was talking about it's nice to be around Christian people. And he was telling us where he went to church and he was telling us that he would he would treat us right. And I said, Well, I said, I said, I expect that. So I said, you have to work a whole lot harder to get to heaven than I do. He's Pentecostal. He said, Well, how are you getting here? And I said, grace, all grace. I hope he got it. Well, we understood. I said, I said I was raised in what you're talking about. I knew that I never lived good enough to make it happen. But Jesus handled it when I could. And I really hope he got the message. Are you planning to see? He got a message. I don't know which one it was. He got some message. There were some other hands up, but I didn't see Jerry. Yeah, for me, as soon as he's like four, that's it. I'll take whatever I want. I don't want to hear it. I won't receive it. I'm on it. Yeah, dead pig is. got some bit of some benefits for us Gentiles for sure. Anybody else? Alvin, you don't have a phrase today? We're on air, made it to church. That's pretty good. That's pretty good. You're right about that. Well, there's always next week, you might make it on time. That's a matter of observation. Amen. You did. So did I. That's good. That's good. Proverbs chapter 10. We read chapter nine last week. then there was a lot in it. There was a whole lot, a whole lot we didn't talk about. But the last part of it was about a foolish woman and I didn't want to get Jerry started. So we're just chilling the chapter 10 today. All right. Who wants to do some reading today? Sherry, Josh and Mary start and give us first six verses share. Proverbs of Solomon, a wise man maketh a black father, but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother. Treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivereth from death. The Lord will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish, but he casts away the substance of the wicked. He becometh poor that dealeth with a slack hand, but the hand of the diligent maketh rich. He that gathers in summer is a wise son, but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causes shame. Blessings are upon the head of the just, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked. Amen. Josh 7 through 14. The memory of the just is blessed, but the name of the wicked shall rot. The wise and hard will receive commandments, but the pretty fool shall fall. He that walketh uprightly walketh surely, but he that averteth his ways shall be known. He that winketh with the eye causeth sorrow, but a prating fool shall fall. The mouth of the righteous man is the will of life, but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. Hatred stirreth up stripes, but love covereth all sins. An ellipse of him that hath understanding wisdom is found, but a rod It's for the back of him that avoid understanding. Why is man lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the foolish near destruction? Amen. Amen. Mary 15 through 24. Okay. The rich man wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty. The labor of righteous tended to life, the fruit of the wicked to sin. He is the way of life that keepeth instruction, but he that refuseth to prove it, hear it. He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that uttereth a slander is a fool. In the multitude of words there wanteth not sin, but he that refraineth his lips is wise. The tongue of the just is as a choice silver, the heart of the wicked is leather wrought. The lips of the righteous feed many, But fools die for want of wisdom. The blessings of the Lord make it rich, and yet he hath no sorrow to it. It is a sport to a fool to do mischief, but a man of understanding hath wisdom. The fear of the wicked shall come upon him, but the desire of the righteous shall be granted. As the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more. But the righteous is an everlasting foundation. As vinegar to the teeth and the smoke to the eyes, so is the slugger to them that sin him. Fear of the Lord prolongeth days, but the years of the wicked shall be shortened. The hope of the righteous shall be gladness, but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. The way of the Lord is strength to the upright, but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. The righteous shall never be removed, but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth. The mouth of the just bring forth wisdom, but the froward tongue shall be cut out. The lips of the righteous know what is acceptable, but the mouth of the wicked speak of frowardness. Amen. Amen. This chapter is filled with practical application that everybody who wants to make a living and pay the bills needs to know. He needs to understand why son making the glad father but a foolish son is the heaviness of his mother. Why son doesn't happen by accident guys. Happens because he's been taught says treasures of wickedness profit nothing, but righteousness delivered from death. The Lord will not suffer the soul of the righteous to finish. But he castles the way the substance of the wicked. Let me remind you when the Bible is talking about the righteous, who's talking about? Don't say people. he becometh poor that dealeth with slack hand. What's a slack hand? What's that mean? Lazy, lazy, lazy. But the hand of the diligent What's that mean? Not lazy. Yeah, but the hand of the diligent makes it rich. He that gathereth in summer is a wise son, but he that sleepeth in harvest is a son that causes shame. Blessings are upon the head of the just. Who's the just? Same as the righteous. But violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. There's something very practical to be said for trusting Jesus. It's not just about getting to heaven, although that's pretty darn important. It applies in every area of your life. This lady called wisdom will teach you not to be lazy. There's a time to sleep and a time to wake up. Get at it. Verse three is pretty amazing. It says, the Lord will not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish. that he casteth away the substance of the wicked. How does that work? Once you get saved, the Lord just guarantees you a check? What is it? How does it work? Alvin? Casteth away the substance of the wicked. Of course, you know, this is Proverbs, and God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, but I guess substance can mean a lot of things. substance doesn't mean a lot of things. It's pretty specific. Nowadays, we would think our substances are government cheese, our truck, and it can be all of these things. But it's talking about improper substance. You know, you got these people back then, just different, even though it still applies. Substances is it's either means substance of spirit, fellowship with our Lord or our beings food and clothing. What's it mean, Josh? It means that if you seek God first, he's going to bring the opportunity you need. Well, is that really how it works, Jerry? strikes me as a hip then promise. If you're diligent, if you get out there and get after the Lord bless. That's why I wanted to ask the question. How does it work? The Lord does not suffer the soul of the righteous to famish. Famish is starting to death. takes care of your baby. If you look at life this way, one day at a time, forget about tomorrow, because you don't know if you're going to live to see tomorrow. So today is the day of salvation. Today is when God is taking care of you. You don't know what's going to happen tomorrow. He's going to watch over you, protect you, cover you, keep you from the wicked, help you out, you know. There's so much he's going to do in that one day. Be amazed. It says the Lord will not suffer or allow the soul of the righteous to famish. I said, How does he do that? Does he just make sure we have a check? Josh? Man was in a flood. He's praise the Lord says, Lord, save me. Lord sends truck. Come on, I'll take your safety. Nope, Lord got me. Man prays again, Lord save me. Lord sends a boat. Man says no, don't worry about it. Lord's got me. get higher praise again. No, don't worry about it. Lord's got man dies. It says, Lord, why didn't you save me? It's time to send a truck, a boat, a helicopter. He's gonna bring you the opportunities. The opportunities but right here in our context of Scripture, the Lord has shown us how he does it. He teaches us to work hard to not be lazy, to seek wisdom. Wisdom wisdom supplies every need of your life, spiritual and physical, all of it, it all comes from that wonderful lady called wisdom. It's pretty easy to see what a slack hand means. Don't have one of those don't don't be one of those people. Be one of the diligent. It says in verse nine, chapter one, chapter first one, chapter nine, Wisdom hath builded her house, her house. She hath hewn out her seven pillars. Verse seven says the memory of the just is blessed. But the name of the wicked shall rot. Does not God's word teach us that a good name is worth more than money? May I suggest that your name is going to be exactly what you make of it. Verse 8, the wise in heart will receive commandments, but a prating fool shall fall. Prating fool. Idiot. Well, a prating fool. What is prating? When Cray did not be matched, speaking foolishly. Alvin, get your hand up. In the New Testament, your prayers are not answered because, and it lists the reasons. But the word fool is not a good word. That's why it says don't call someone a fool, lest you be condemned, because the word fool means unredeemable. Probably not a good word for me to use, but it's certainly one of the Lord uses a lot. It'd be good to know what a prating fool is. Josh, go ahead. It seems that the definition of strong seems to be saying that's it. That's a nail on the head. Prating fool is somebody that's running their mouth instead of listening. instead of accepting wisdom, what Scripture says, it tells us that the wise are willing to receive instruction. Verse 11, the mouth of a righteous man is a well of life, but violence covereth the mouth of the wicked. Hatred stirreth up strifes, but love covereth all sins. And the lifts of him that hath understanding wisdom is found. But rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding. Wise men lay up knowledge, but the mouth of the fool is near destruction. The rich man's wealth is his strong city. The destruction of the poor is their poverty. The rich man's wealth is his strong city. That has certainly been a part of society for as long as this was written to today, still going on. The labor of the righteous tends to life, the fruit of the wicked to sin. He is in the way of life that keepeth instruction, but he that refuses reproof erreth. Yeah. He that hideth hatred with lying lips, and he that slander is fool. Well, there's a Lord using that word again, and using it as a label. He does other the slander. If you call somebody a fool, would that be uttering a slander? Evil was so kind to point out in Matthew 522. But I say in to doubt about whoever is angry with his brother without a call shall be in danger of the judgment. Whosoever shall say to his brother, now fool shall be in danger of hellfire. So if you're calling somebody a fool, what are you doing? You're in danger of hellfire. You're uttering a slander. So who's the who's the fool? The person that's saying it? Yeah. There you go. One being judgmental. That's pretty heavy. So the Lord can put it in a word all he wants, but we're not supposed to do it. First john one night. In a multitude of words, there one is not sin. Is it a sin to run your mouth? It's not necessarily a sin. But if you run it long enough, one will show up in the multitude of words. There was not saying it says the tongue of the just is as choice silver. I think this is what grandma was talking about. You remember, if you don't have something good to say, just shut up, or edify or shut up as the teacher would say, lifts of the righteous feed many. The fools die for one of wisdom. All right. The blessing of the Lord make it make us rich. And he added no sorrow with it. So is being rich a good thing or bad thing? Yeah. So we were looking at a question earlier in a context, it says that here says the Lord will not suffer the soul of the of the righteous to famish. And I asked the question, how does he do that? Does he send you a check? Or does he send you advice? Or how does he do it? Well, the blessing of the Lord. Yeah. Get make a bridge. And he has no sorrow with it. There's a lot of rich people in this country. There's a lot of rich people sitting in this room. I'm not sure all of them know it. But It's the truth. But very often riches come hand in hand with sorrow. But when the blessing of the Lord makes it rich, He adds no sorrow with it. It is a sport to a fool to do mischief. But a man of understanding hath wisdom. fear the wickage issue come upon him. But the desire of the righteous shall be granted. Lorana and I were talking about that earlier. Lord knows what we want. He knows what we need. And he does not just give us our needs as some people say that he's promised only only the needs. Apparently, if you think that, you don't have a lot of experience with Him yet. But the Lord fulfilling our desires has a lot to do with what those desires are. As the whirlwind passeth... The Bible speaks often of whirlwinds. What's it talking about? Talking about a Texas twister, but it's speaking primarily of hurricanes. They're very destructive forces that the Lord sends across the land. He says, but the righteousness is an everlasting foundation. We're not all builders of houses, but we are all builders of lives. And you need to make sure that your life is built on the right foundation. Amen. And Jesus is the chief cornerstone. He's the rock. He's the foundation. Verse 26 is very practical advice. It tells us a lot about people. Has vinegar to the teeth. Y'all ever tried to drink vinegar? How many of you have ever drank pickle juice? Oh, yeah. What is that? It's vinegar. What's it do is set your teeth on edge as vinegar to the teeth and as smoke to the eyes. You're you're set on the wrong side of the campfire. Yes. So it's the wrong side of the campfire and just follow you around. They say smoke balls. beauty but it's the opposite I think. And smoke to the eye, so is the sluggard to them that send him. If somebody calls you a sluggard, AJ, is that a good thing or a bad thing? A bad thing. So what's a sluggard? Somebody that slugged you or what? What's it mean? This is a bad word. You don't know what it means. Means lazy. Yeah. Yeah. Very back in back in birth 13. They gave us remedy in lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found the rod is for the back of him that's void of understanding just faded into Have you ever had anybody work for you, Josh, that you had to drive stakes in the ground to tell for sure if they were moving? Yeah. Well, that's a definition of a sluggard. Verse 27 becomes more important the longer you live. The days, the fear of the Lord prolonged days. that the years of the weekend shall be shortened. Do you think that word is derived from a slug? You know what a slug is, right? It's definitely derived from a slug. How fast is a slug move? Pretty slow. I've preached on the subject of longevity several times, or referred to it more times. But if you want to live a long time, the best way to do it is to be worth something. Be necessary. The hope of the righteous shall be gladness, but the expectation of the wicked shall perish. The way of the Lord is strength to the upright, but destruction shall be to the workers of iniquity. People in general don't look at Christian life as being one of strength. But Christians are supposed to turn the other cheek, and they think that's weakness. But the Word says that the way of the Lord is strength to the upright. It's not strength to the wicked, but it's strength to the upright. Seems like it sometimes. Well, it's like, you know, someone that cusses on top of you means you're smart. It means they have a very small vocabulary. Someone that allows their anger to control them doesn't make them strong. It makes them weak because they cannot control themselves. Yeah. Amen. You know, Pastor, when the Bible is open, God speaks of the whirlwinds. That's a way of destruction. Yeah. Great destruction. It's great destruction. It's what it says, as the whirlwind passeth, so is the wicked no more. It destroys. It destroys, yeah. Josh? Can we go back to verse 12 for just a second? Sure. Verse 12 says, hatred starts up stripes, but love comes to all sins. That is a very, very important verse of scripture there. When I was on the farm, I was very, very bad about starting up stripes and being hateful to my neighbor and this and that. It ended up leaving me all alone by myself, no friends. And then when I moved down here, I changed that and getting saved and such. This scripture verse, I use every day. Every every time someone does something to you or in your way to just irritates fired up. But instead of being hateful to them, you love them. And you just forgive. Let it go. Yeah. It just makes life better. You can put up with people when you love them. It doesn't mean that they're not still doing stupid stuff. because most of the time they are. Yeah, we are. We are to be meek, correct? Yeah. It doesn't mean weak. It doesn't mean power and control, right? Yeah. Okay. Well, that means that means I'm sitting here with power and I've got it under control and you're unlikely to be able to break it. And if you do break it, you're not going to like what happens. South side. And then you jump from 1218. It'd be possible as much as life within the Olympics with all men, much as life within you. There's the trick right there can be different for every man. We should strive for more. But you know, going push us find out where breaking point is. Maybe we don't know. Yeah, I don't like what happens. The righteous shall never be removed. Verse 30, but the wicked shall not have it here. we're going to inhabit the earth for at least 1000 years. That's going to be some kind of difference in government. I can guarantee that. It says the mouth of the just bring it forth wisdom, but the froward tongue shall be cut out. The froward tongue stir things up. Oh, Yeah, so people that don't know me well probably think a little bit that I mean, but the former Trump and do I understand it is of course, cussing and all that also, but to say when people, scholars, professors, all the people that speak against the Word of God being the Word of God from cover to cover, to me, that's a forward tone. When you speak anything against scripture because it hits you wrong, that's a forward tongue lesson. Does that make sense? Yeah. Because you don't like it. You know, you don't want to bend the knee to what the truth is. And you start forward tonguing against it. It says, verse 32, that the lips of the righteous know what is acceptable. But the mouth of the wicked speaketh thro'erness. Amen. An anti-Christ mouth. Yeah?
