Thy word is a lamp unto my feet
and a light unto my path. This is Dale Jackson welcoming
you to the Lamp and Light broadcast, coming to you from the studios
of Central Baptist Church in beautiful Ocala, Florida. Lamp
and Light is a ministry. It takes a book of the Bible,
verse by verse, teaching it as it is to men as they are, without
compromise or apology. Speaking the truth in love is
our purpose, and to give the lamp and light to all. The Bible stands, though the
hills may tumble. It will firmly stand when the
earth shall crumble. I will plant my feet on its firm
foundation, for the Bible stands. I don't know what your vocation
is in life. But use it for God. You might be a mechanic. You
might be a doctor. You might be a pharmacist. You might be
a cook. You might be a maintenance worker. You might be a plumber.
And you have done much for God's house and God's man. And that
is a spiritual blessing. Luke forewent a great monetary
opportunity to serve God with the gift God had given him. Some
are as the rich man who could not forsake his riches in order
to follow Jesus. Some cannot forsake security
or the comfort and the ease of a present standard in order to
do the hard work of the ministry. Oh, if more would, and we had
this backing in prayer, there might even be a waiting list
in your church to be a Sunday school teacher or work in a bus
ministry or sing in a choir. If more Christians truly had
a heart heart like these servants listed in Colossians 4 7 through
14 you see we find so often the pleasures of life and home are
loved more than God and we don't act it's the person who loves
God more than mother father son or daughter husband or wife that's
the person that who is in action. Your gift may be music, it may
be teaching, it may be needlework, it may be art, it may be cooking.
You're paid by the world, but don't you know that that gift
you have can be used freely for God. Now finally, we have, after
all these positive things being said about servants, we see finally
here in Colossians 4.14, Demas greet you and Demas doesn't say
anything about Demas just says his name Doesn't say beloved
doesn't say anything about him in the Philemon letter Demas
is called a fellow laborer in This letter which was written
next he's just simply called Demas and then finally in 2nd
Timothy chapter 4 verse 10 it'll say Demas having loved this present
world hath forsaken me You know, that word forsaken is defined
as to let one down. And I'm not sure that Demas was
leaving religion. It was just that the love of
this present world was so great that he could not serve in a
fundamental Bible believing Bible preaching ministry. Many ministries
take on the look of the world today. They conform to the world. Now that word conform the Bible
means to fashion yourself after something on the outside. Transformation
takes place from the inside and works its way out. But conformity
looks at the outside thing. You know, sometimes people they
say you got to change. It's the world we live in. You
got to change. And that's right. You should be more holy today
than you were a year ago. But you know, it's not change
when you start looking like the world, talking like the world,
going to the worldly places, singing the worldly songs, using
the worldly music and drinking the worldly drink, talking the
worldly talk. That's not change. That's reverting
back to form. Change is when you're even more
holy. Oh, that we'd have more that
would just see that and change and not allow their ministry
to take on the look of the world. Listen to the strong language
of these verses. 1 John 2, verse 15. Love not
the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any
man loved the world, the love of the Father is not in him. Now that's very clear. James
4, 4. Listen to these strong words.
Ye adulterers and adulteresses. Now how would you like to be
called an adulterer or adulteress? He says, no, you're not. that
the friendship of the world is entity with God. Whosoever, therefore,
will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. Now, I'm
preaching in the state of Florida. We have in this state some places
called nude dancing places, OK? For lack of a better term. Sometimes
they are advertised on our interstate. One that comes to my mind that
is near us is called Cafe Risque. Now, if you can have nude dancing
and the type of music they use, they dance to, If you take that
type of music, and you put it in a church, and you only put
Christian words to it, that does not save and redeem the music. That music is still worldly.
And what you've done is as 1 Peter 1, verse 14 says, you fashioned
yourself according to the former lust, the lust before you had,
you were saved. And now you're headed back towards
it. Liberty, never, ever. applies to the flesh. Liberty,
Bible liberty, applies to the spirit. Now, what happened to
demons can happen to you. I was in a man's house visiting
one time that had visited our church. And boy, he asked me
my stand on the Bible because he believed it was word for word
inspired. And you'd only use the King James
Version of the Bible, which we use. And he was against carnality. He spoke against alcohol. He
spoke against movies, dancing. I mean, the whole bit. I was
quite impressed with today. The same man is in a church with
the deacon's drink. The pastor goes to the movies
and they don't use his King James Bible rather they use some kind
of a perversion. Well, that happened to that man
that I would have never thought would have happened to him. It
can happen to me. It can happen to you. That's
why we must always, always continually walk with God, be faithful, serve
and resist the devil. My friend look the devil will
use tiredness the faults of others whatever he can to discourage
you Don't let him you just keep on keeping on God sees Now one
thing I can say for Demas Demas at least is saved in Luke chapter
19 verses 24 through 27. I We read these words from the
lips of Jesus and he said unto them that stood by Take from
him the pound and give to him that hath ten pounds And they
said unto him Lord. He hath ten pounds For I'm saying
to you that to everyone which hath shall be given and from
him that hath not Even that he hath shall be taken away from
him But those mine enemies which would not that I should reign
over them bring hither Slay them before me Now those are pretty
strong words my friend Demas is Like a Christian that appears
at the judgment seat of Christ. He loses reward But he saved
so as by fire but those without Christ are Slain before him that
is they are cast into the lake of fire Now you don't want Christ
to reign over your life Then my friend You are headed to that
lake of fire He loved you. He shed his blood. He left the
glory of heaven came to this earth Just to die for all your
sin when he was dying for your sin. He was dying for every sin
you ever have or ever will commit He was buried and three days
later He rose from the dead. He did that for you. He did that
for me And he did that because he loves you. And my friend,
will you take him as your personal savior? You see, not only do
you Not want to go to hell if you knew what it is If you knew
what that lake of fire was you wouldn't want to go to it The
bible describes it as a lake of fire where you do not cease
to exist You're tormented day and night forever and ever you
cannot escape and you find out that You have pain you have tears
you have gnashing of teeth there You just can't get a moment's
rest You don't want to go there The bible says that he's not
willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.
He doesn't want you to go there He says in first Timothy 2 that
he would have all men to be saved and come to the knowledge of
the truth You see he wants to save you. He loves you My friend
if you decide you want to hold on to the world your love for
the world Will lead you to hell with the rest of the world. He
said brother Andy. I don't want to go to hell I
don't want to go to a place like you just described Then why not
ask Jesus to be your Savior? Jesus said in John 14 6, I am
the way, the truth and the life. No man comes unto the father,
but by me. And my friend, nobody else can
save you. Only Jesus. What must you do? Admit that you're a sinner. Romans
3 23 says for all have sinned and come short of the glory of
God. That includes me. That includes you. Romans 6 23
it says for the wages of sin is death. That's final complete
separation from God forever in the lake of fire and my friend
That's the wage. That's what we have earned every
one of us because we've all sinned But God doesn't want you to go
to hell and although you've earned to go to hell. I Romans 623,
the last part of that says, but the gift, not something that
we earn, not something that we get good enough for. He says,
but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our
Lord. Now, on your part, you must be
willing to repent. Repent, you therefore be converted
that your sins may be blotted out within times of refreshing
shall come from the Lord. Acts 319 says, repent, turn from
your sin, turn from depending on yourself and be converted.
Give your life to Jesus Christ. And believing that Jesus Christ
died on the cross for you, shedding his precious blood, and then
raising from the dead three days later, through prayer, invite
him into your life as your personal savior. Romans 10, 10 says, for
with the heart, man believeth unto righteousness, and with
the mouth, confession is made to salvation. For whosoever shall
call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. If you really
want Jesus to be your Lord and savior, then pray this prayer,
dear God, I know I am a sinner and I need forgiveness. Forgive
me of my sins. I believe that Jesus Christ shed
his precious blood on the cross and died for my sins. I believe
that three days later he rose up from the dead. I am willing
to turn from sin and I right now invite Jesus Christ to come
to my heart and my life as my Lord, as my God, as my Savior. Save me right now. Thank you
for saving me. In Jesus name. Amen. Now, my friend, if you just trusted
Christ as your Savior, you've just begun a wonderful new life
with him. Now, read your Bible every day. Get to know Jesus
Christ better. Take time every day to talk to
God, that is to pray. Be baptized. Get into a good,
independent, fundamental, Bible-believing Baptist church. If you don't
know of a church in your area, look in the Yellow Pages, and
they'll usually have churches listed under Baptist Independent.
And get in there. Let the Bible be the final authority. And go to a church where Jesus
Christ is preached and the Bible is the final authority. Tell
others about your faith in Christ. Well, I see that my time is up.
