Well, folks, my subject tonight
I have announced as the rise, the ruler, and the ruin of Europe. Over the past number of weeks,
our nation has been taken up with great debate. That debate
has centered over whether our nation, the United Kingdom, should
remain within the European Union or whether it should leave that
union of nations. Largely, the debate has centred
upon the economy. And I think there has been a
very specific and definite reason why there are those who want
to focus on the economy, whether we would be richer or poorer
staying in or leaving the European Union. And I think the reason
it has centered on those things is very clearly because the Remain
campaign feel that that is the best way they can win the debate
and win the argument and indeed win the referendum. They feel
the average man wants to be better off and therefore if they tell
him he will be richer, staying within the union, they will ultimately
win the referendum. Other aspects of the debate have
centred upon immigration and also on national sovereignty. And on Thursday, each one of
us, if we're over 18, we have the opportunity to register what
we feel when we go to the polls to vote on whether the United
Kingdom should remain as part of the European Union or whether
we feel that the nation should leave. During the election campaign,
I have not heard any politician, I have not heard any media commentator
ask the question, or the questions, does the Bible have anything
to say on the subject at hand? Does the Bible have anything
to say on the subject of Europe and its place within the scheme
of biblical prophecy and the end times? I have not heard anyone
ask the question from those sources. Either the political rulers of
the day or the media commentators. Can we be guided? Can we learn
anything about what is taking place right now from the scriptures? It is not surprising that largely
speaking the ungodly rulers in the nation at large, and what
I would term a wicked and biased media, have overlooked this aspect
and have no interest in it at all. That does not surprise us.
That men do not want to ask the question, does the Bible have
anything to say to lead or guide us in these matters? But I put
it to you as a Christian, And for the church, we should be
interested. We should be asking the question,
does the Word of God have anything to reveal to us on what is taking
place in this age and in the nations at large, but particularly
in the union of the European nations. Does the Bible have
anything to say? We believe most certainly that
it does. And Daniel chapter 2. is one
of those places within the Scriptures where I believe the Lord has
given to us a view, a vision of what is to take place in the
latter times among those nations that surround the Mediterranean
Sea. And I want to look at this vision
that was given. It was not given, I suppose,
primarily to Daniel. It was Nebuchadnezzar's dream.
But the interpretation was given to Daniel. And while I'm intending
to look at various scriptures, and I trust you'll be able to
follow along tonight, we're going to take our main thoughts. from
Daniel chapter 2. What does this chapter have to
say about the rise of Europe in these latter days? Well, on
various occasions, the book of Daniel presents us with visions
relating to the political course of the nations surrounding Israel
and surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. That is important. That's the focus of Daniel's
visions. If you come to Matthew 13, you
read how the Lord gives a series of parables. Now in that chapter,
those parables center upon the visible kingdom of God on earth
from the first coming to the second coming. And their focus
is on the visible church and its course from the first coming
to the second coming of Christ. But in Daniel, The visions of
Daniel center upon the political course of the nations that surround
the land of Israel and the Mediterranean Sea. The first of those visions,
as I have said, was given to King Nebuchadnezzar. He, at this
point when he received the vision, was an ungodly man. He was not
a Christian. And yet he had this dream. And
I have said he could not remember what the dream was. And when
Daniel eventually was called, and after he had prayed, Daniel
was able to tell the king what he saw in his dream. And we read
about it in verses 31 to 33. He saw in his dream a statue,
or an image, a great image we would say in common language,
a massive or a huge image. The head was made of gold. The shoulders and the breasts
were made of silver. The belly and the thighs were
made of brass. The legs were made of iron. And
the feet and the toes were made of iron mixed with mary clay. When Daniel prayed about the
matter, the Lord not only revealed to him what the dream was, but
the Lord gave to Daniel. the interpretation of that dream. I want you to look first of all
at verse 38, the final phrase of that verse. Daniel says to
Nebuchadnezzar, This head of gold. So the head of gold symbolized
the king, and more importantly, the kingdom of Babylon. The empire of Babylon. It was the first empire to dominate
the prophetic earth. It rose in the days of Nebuchadnezzar. And the territory of the Babylonian
Empire, it centered mostly in Iraq. It included a small part
of modern day Iran, South Turkey. It stretched as far west as Israel
in the Mediterranean Sea. It included part of Egypt and
part of the Arabian Desert. But if you look at verse 39,
you will see that this world empire, this empire that dominated
the then known world, the territory around the Mediterranean Sea,
it was to give way, it was to cease to be. It would give way
to another kingdom, verse 39, and after thee shall arise another
kingdom. So the breast of silver and the
arms of silver, it represents another kingdom. The second world
empire that would dominate that area. And it tells us that other
kingdom would be inferior to the kingdom of Babylon. What
was that second world empire? If we turn, and you'll excuse
me for the sake of time for not turning to all the references,
but in Daniel chapter 5 and verse 31, we read that Daniel saw this
kingdom rise in his day. It was the kingdom of the Medes
and the Persians. You remember, the king of Babylon
was partying. He was blaspheming God. And the
finger wrote on the wall, Mene, Mene, tekel yufarsin. The kingdom
has been weighed in the balances and found wanting. The kingdom
was taken from the Babylonians and given to another, and it
was the kingdom of the Medes and the Persians. That is confirmed
in Daniel chapter 8 and verse 20. Where we read, the ram which
thou sawest having two horns are the kings of Media and Persia. So the second world empire symbolized
by the silver of the breast and the arms of Nebuchadnezzar's
image represented the kingdom of Media and Persia. But then
back in Daniel chapter 2 and verse 39 again, we find that
kingdom was to, as it were, be overthrown. It would cease to
be and it would be replaced by another. Verse 39, another third
kingdom of brass which shall bear rule over all the earth. A third kingdom was to arise.
And in Daniel chapter 8 and verse 21, we are left in no doubt.
We don't have to guess. We don't have to come up with
our own ideas. What was this third kingdom? For Daniel chapter 8 verse 21
tells us, And the rough goat is the king of Grecia, and the
great horn that is between his eyes is the first king. The first
king of Greece was Alexander the Great. He conquered the then
known world. And we're told in history that
he sat down and wept for there were no more kingdoms for him
to conquer. The Medes and the Persians, they
were overthrown by the Grecian empire. The empire of Median
Persia, Esther 1 verse 1 tells us. It had 127 provinces. It stretched from India in the
east to Ethiopia in the south. It was replaced. Replaced by
Alexander and the Grecian Empire. And at that point, men and women,
and here's the first key thought I want you to keep in mind and
remember. When Alexander and Greece took
the kingdom, and the Grecian Empire ruled that part of the
world, at that point, it began to touch Europe. The Grecian
Empire touched Europe by grace, but it also was largely centered
in the Middle East. Still in that Middle Eastern
part of the world. But you'll notice again in Daniel
chapter 2, it says in verse 40, "...and the fourth kingdom."
The third kingdom would pass away. And it would be succeeded
by a fourth kingdom. Keep this in mind. The Babylonian
empire would be succeeded by another. The Medes and the Persians.
The Medes and the Persians would be succeeded by Greece. Greece
would be succeeded by another empire. Another kingdom. The
fourth kingdom shall be strong as iron. Luke chapter 2 and verse
1 will tell you exactly who that What that fourth kingdom was.
For in Luke chapter 2 verse 1 again, we don't have to guess. We don't
have to be in any doubt. The Bible tells us the identity
of the fourth world empire to rule this area of the world. It tells us in Luke 2 verse 1,
And it came to pass in those days that there went out a decree
from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed. It's
the Roman Empire. The Caesars. And so the fourth
world empire prophesied by Daniel, symbolized by the legs of iron
in Nebuchadnezzar's image. The head of gold was Babylon. The kingdom of Babylon. The silver
shoulders and breast was the kingdom of the Medes and the
Persians. The belly and the thighs of brass
was the Grecian Empire. The legs of iron symbolized the
Roman Empire. And the Roman Empire was centered
right in the heart of Europe. Oh, it came from east to west. part of its kingdom in the Middle
East. Yes, there was part of Babylon. Yes, Israel was under
its heel. Parts of North Africa. But the
main part of its empire was where? It was Europe. Stretched from
Greece right through to England's green and pleasant shore. And
Rome dominated the entire continent of this world that we know as
Europe. That's the symbol of the iron,
the legs of iron. But something very, very striking. The vision didn't end with the
legs of iron. No, it came on to say in verse
42, and as the toes and the feet were part of iron and part of
clay, there was to be no successor after the Roman Empire. Do you
see that? And I want to underline that
tonight, and I want you to get it into your mind. The Babylonians
had a successor. The Medes and the Persians had
a successor. Another empire arose. But when
the Roman Empire ended, and historians tell us, that it came to a conclusion
between 4 and 500 AD, it had no successor. The nations of
Europe became independent nations, separate the one from the other. So in the prophecy of Nebuchadnezzar
and Daniel, we see very clearly that this fourth empire would
not have a successor And yet, there would be only four empires. There would not be a fifth world
empire that would dominate that area around the Mediterranean
Sea and the Middle East. Only four! That's one reason
why Hitler failed. Because there was not to be a
fifth empire in the European and Middle East areas. Only four empires. And the fourth
was the Roman Empire. But Daniel's vision didn't end
there. He speaks about the feet and the toes. And I ask and I
pose the question tonight, what material What substance was the
feet and the toes made of? The Bible tells us. The vision
gives us the answer. The dream tells us in verse 42,
the toes of the feet were part of iron and part of clay. So the kingdom shall be strong
and partly broken. The feet of Nebuchadnezzar's
great image was partly made of iron and part of clay. And the
vision still didn't end there, because in verse 34, till that a stone was cut out
without hands, which smote the image on the feet that were of
iron and clay, and break them in pieces together, and became
like the chaff of the summer threshing floors, and the wind
carried them away. Daniel saw a vision of a stone. cut without hands in Nebuchadnezzar's
dream, and the stone smote the image on the fate, and it collapsed,
and it was turned into chaff for the threshing floor, and
the wind carried it away. What was the stone a symbol of? Again, you'll excuse me for the
sake of time, for not going to the specific references, but
if you're taking a note either mentally or written, then mark
it down. Psalm 118 verse 22, without hands is Jesus Christ. He is the chief cornerstone,
made without hands. In Acts chapter 4 and verse 11,
Peter was speaking to the Sanhedrin. He said, neither is there salvation
in any other, for there is none other name under heaven, given
among men, whereby we must be saved. And he said, the stone,
this is the stone. Who is the stone that the builders
rejected? It's Jesus Christ. And there's
coming a day when that stone will smash the political empires
that have dominated and surrounded the Mediterranean Sea and the
Middle East, and they will come crashing down, and they'll be
judged of God, and made as the chaff, and they'll be driven
away, and His kingdom will fill the earth. Now I want to put
it to you. falls upon the feet of iron. That can only mean that there
has to be A reviving again in what was the kingdom of Arn. The kingdom of Arn was the kingdom
of the Roman Empire. And though it fell sometime between
400 and 500 AD, there must again be a reviving of the Roman Empire
that was centered in and dominated by Europe before the Lord Jesus
returns to this earth again. That's the only conclusion that
we can come from biblical prophecy, from this vision, that Rome,
the kingdom of Rome and the Roman Empire, would rise again, albeit
in a different form. It would rise again and will
rise again before the Lord's return. I believe with all my
heart that that rising again of the old Roman Empire began,
the reviving again of that Roman Empire. And the coming together
of those nations commenced in 1957 with what was then the Common
Market and the old EEC. It was birthed out of the Treaty
of Rome. It began simply as a free trade
agreement. It began, I think, with eight
nations. Just a handful of nations. And
from that time, it has developed. When it began with just a handful
of nations, it now has brought in virtually all of Europe. It will continue to develop.
until it not only brings in virtually all of Europe, but part of the
Middle East as well. And I tell you what the EEC and
the Common Market and now the European Union has achieved.
It has achieved something that wars over decades and centuries
could not do. It is bringing together a union,
a confederacy of the old nations of the Roman Empire. And it is
seeing a rising again of them in the midst that will once again
dominate. the area around the Mediterranean
Sea, the land of Israel, the Middle East, and will dominate
the world. We are seeing in our generation
the rise and the development of the old Roman Empire, and
it will continue to develop. It will continue to rise until
it has a place of world prominence and dominance. And we will see
that as we move to our next thought. I have sought to show you from
Daniel's interpretation of Nebuchadnezzar's vision how Europe will rise again
before the end of the world into a confederacy of nations. prophesied
in the feet and the ten toes of Daniel's interpretation of
Nebuchadnezzar's vision. I want to move on tonight. I
want to come to the second thought and it is this, not only the
rise of Europe, But let me say a word about a ruler for Europe. I want you to notice two phrases
in Daniel 2. The first is in verse 42. It tells us, Just mark that little statement. The toes of the feet. That's
the toes of Daniel's or it's really Nebuchadnezzar's image.
I keep referring it to Daniel's vision because it's Daniel's
book and Daniel had a very similar vision in chapter 7. We're going
to turn to in a moment. This is Nebuchadnezzar's dream
and Daniel's interpretation and it's the toes of the feet. Then
look at verse 44 and note this statement. and in the days of
these kings." Do you note that? In the days of these kings. The ten toes represent ten kings. We may want to refer to them
as ten rulers. Maybe they'll be called presidents. The thought is that they are
rulers They have authority over men. They are ten kings, rulers,
presidents, call them what you desire. The ten toes in the revived
Roman Empire that will dominate this world before the Lord returns. And that teaches us that what
Daniel is saying here is yet future. There are not ten rulers
in this particular area. Whether we talk of Europe or
we talk about the Middle East. That kingdom has not sufficiently
come together to be divided into ten sections and of ten rulers
or kings over them. And so this is yet to be. People,
I suppose, Got distracted. Meaning people, sincere people,
and they've wondered, well, if there are so many nations now
in the European Union, how can it be that there will be only
ten? Listen, the EU is still to develop. And as I have said, more nations
will come in, but you mark it. If God's Word says there will
be ten rulers or ten kings, there will come a day when that area
of the earth will be divided into ten sections and there will
be ten rulers appointed over those ten regions. And Daniel
is saying something to us in verse 44. In the days of those
kings, when those ten rulers or kings appear, something is
going to happen. Now in Daniel chapter 2, it tells
us that the God of heaven will set up His kingdom on this earth
in those days. And we will come to that a little
later. But you know, Daniel had a very similar vision. I want
you to turn over to Daniel chapter 7. If you are reading Daniel
2, you should read Daniel chapter 7 along with it. Because it is
a vision that Daniel was given that teaches the very same truths
that were given in Daniel chapter 2. And in Daniel chapter 7, Daniel
tells us something else that will happen in the days of those
kings or those rulers that will arise out of the old Roman Empire
and that will be on this earth when the Lord Jesus returns. If you look, and I want to go
down some of these verses to show you the context, and to
show you its connection with chapter 2. Look at verse 2 and
verse 3. Daniel spake and said, I saw
in my vision by night, and behold the four winds of the heavens
strove upon the great sea. The great sea in the Bible is
the Mediterranean Sea. Daniel is identifying the place
where this vision occurs and where it is to be fulfilled as
the Mediterranean Sea. Notice what he says in verse
3. The four beasts and four beasts came up from the sea, diverse
one from another. So four beasts rise out of this
area surrounding the Mediterranean Sea. Now I want you to look at
verse 7. It tells us, And I saw in the
night visions, and behold, a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible,
and strong exceedingly, and it had great iron teeth, and it
devoured and broke in pieces, and stamped the residue with
the feet of it and it was diverse from all the beasts that were
before it and I want you to notice the end of verse 7 and it had
10 horns note the ten horns. Verse 8, it says, I considered
the horns, and behold, there came up among them another little
horn. I want you to notice that. Coming
up from among the ten horns, another little horn. Let's put
this together before we get the meaning and the interpretation.
Daniel sees a vision. It's in relation to the nations
around the Mediterranean Sea. There are four beasts that come
up. from the sea. And then there are ten kings,
or sorry, ten horns. The fourth beast has ten horns,
and from among those ten horns there comes another little horn. Now turn over to verse 23 to
25, and Daniel gives us the interpretation again. We don't have to be in
any doubt. Verse 23 says, Thus he said,
The fourth beast shall be the fourth kingdom upon the earth.
So where Nebuchadnezzar saw an image of gold, silver, brass
and iron, Daniel saw four beasts. The gold of head was Babylon. The breast of silver was the
Medes and the Persians. The belly of brass was Greece. The legs were of iron. It was
Rome and Rome would rise again in the ten toes. Daniel sees
four beasts and each one of those four beasts is the four kingdoms
that Nebuchadnezzar witnessed in his dream. The fourth baste
shall be the fourth kingdom. The fourth baste is Rome. The
Roman Empire that dominated Europe and was baste and centered in
Europe. Notice verse 24, and the ten
horns out of this kingdom are ten kings. Do you see that? The ten horns
are ten kings. That means that the horns in
chapter 7 are the very same thing. They have the same meaning. They
have the same symbolism. The same interpretation as the
ten toes. They are ten kings. It tells
us those ten kings shall rise. That's yet future. The Roman
Empire is rising again. And will rise before the Lord's
return. And it will be divided into ten
sections. And there will be ten kings or
rulers, presidents, call them what you like. But notice verse
24, another shall rise after them. That's the little horn. Another horn, another king. So out of those ten kings, another
horn or king shall arise. A little horn, a little king.
He shall be diverse from the first. and shall subdue three
kings." Now, I want you to follow this. I want you to see the identity
of this little horn, this king that arises at the end time from
the fourth revived empire and from the ten kings or rulers
that will dominate the old Roman earth. tells us He shall speak
great words, verse 25, against the Most High. He will be a blasphemer. He will blaspheme God. That's
the first characteristic about Him. We've been told something
about Him. He will be a blasphemer. He will
blaspheme God. Verse 25, He shall wear out the
saints of the Most High. He will persecute the people
of God. That's the second trait or characteristic
about him. He'll blaspheme God. He will
persecute God's people. Verse 25 says, "...and they shall
be given..." That's the saints. "...shall be given into his hand
until a time..." Time is in the dividing of time. That's Hebrew
language for a period of time. The Jews looked upon time as
a year. It's an expression. It's a figure
of speech for one year. Time, that's one year. Times,
that's plural, that's two years. And half of a time is half a
year. So they'll be given into His hand for three and a half
years. Verse 26, But the judgment shall
set, and they shall take away His dominion. to consume and
to destroy it unto the end. He will be judged of the Lord.
Put those four things together. There's his characteristics.
This ruler that arises in the end time, revive Roman empire
out of the ten kings that will dominate that empire. This little
horn, this ruler will arise. He'll be a blasphemer. He will
persecute the saints. Domination over them for three
and a half years, but he will be judged by the Lord. Who is
this little horn? Turn over in your Bible to Revelation
chapter 13. Revelation chapter 13. Let me point you to verse 1.
John says, I stood upon the sand of the sea, and saw a beast rise
up out of the sea, What sea is John talking about? John was
imprisoned on the Isle of Patmos. It's in the Mediterranean Sea.
He's standing on the seashore and he sees this beast rise out
of the sea. Biblical prophecy deals with
that niche or that area known as the prophetic earth that surrounds
the Mediterranean. It does not have in view North
America or Australia or places like that. No, we're talking
about a kingdom that is centered around the Mediterranean Sea.
And John sees the beast rise up. I want you to notice he had
seven heads. How many horns? He had ten horns. And you will notice that this
beast He had a throne. I'm drawing your attention to
verse 2, right at the end of Revelation 13. The dragon, that's
the devil, gave him his power and his seat. Do you see the
word seat? It's the Greek word thronos,
it means throne. He will be a king or a ruler
over men. The devil will give him his power
and his throne and great authority. He will rule over nations. Look at verse 7, the end of verse
7. And power was given him over
all kindreds and tongues and nations. I'll not be dogmatic
tonight, but I believe it's talking about the tongues and the nations
and the kindreds in the prophetic Roman earth. And He will have
a throne, a seat of authority. He will rule over those nations
and over those peoples. And John gives us His characteristics. What are they? Verse 5 and 6. There was given unto Him a mouth,
speaking great things and blasphemies. Verse 6. And He opened His mouth. By the way, He is a man. Do you
see the personal pronoun used? I was listening to a preacher
recently, he was speaking about Antichrist. He says, you know, Antichrist
is just a spirit, he's not a man. Well, you look at the personal
pronouns that are used. Verse 5, there was given unto
him, A mouth speaking great things and blasphemies. Verse 6. He
opened his mouth. He's a man. And we'll show you
that and emphasize it as we go on. But I'm saying the first
characteristic about John's beast, he is a blasphemer. He opened
his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name and
his tabernacle. And them that dwell in heaven,
John's beast, is a blasphemer against God. Verse 7, He persecutes
the saints of God. Christians, it was given unto
him to make war with the saints and overcome them. He persecutes
the saints. If you look at verse 5, He has
power over them for three and a half years. Power was given
unto Him to continue forty and two months. It's three and a
half years. I put it to you tonight, men
and women, when you look at the characteristics of Daniel's little
horn, and you look at the characteristics of John's beast, I put it to
you that John's beast is Daniel's little horn, and Daniel's little
horn is John's beast. He is the final ruler of the
revived Roman Empire that will arise out of the ten rulers or
kings from that area of the earth that will have come together
in a union and a confederacy. If you turn over to 2 Thessalonians
2, I believe we can say that Daniel's little horn and John's
beast are Paul's man of sin, or is Paul's man of sin. For
you'll see in 2 Thessalonians 2, And Paul is speaking about
the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, verse 1, and our gathering
unto him. And he says in verse 2, sorry,
verse 3, that that day will not come except there come a falling
away first and that man of sin be revealed. He's a man. Antichrist
is not a principle or a spirit or an influence, he's a man.
And look at the characteristics that Paul sets forth, he will
be a blasphemer. Verse 4, He opposeth and exalteth
himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped, so
that he as God sitteth in the temple of God. showing himself
that he is God. Oh, Paul goes further than Daniel
or John. He says that in his blasphemy,
he will take the place of God. He will claim that he is God
incarnate, and he will sit in the temple of God, claiming that
he is God, desiring the worship of men. He is a blasphemer. He will oppose and exalt himself
above all that is called God. Blasphemy against God! Look at
verse 9. He will be inspired by Satan,
just as John said the beast would be. Even him, there's the personal
pronoun used again. It's a man, it's an individual
whose coming is after the working of Satan. He's inspired by the
devil, just as John said in Revelation 13. And verse 8, he will be judged. By the Lord at His coming, then
shall that wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with
the spirit of His mouth." Men and women, I put it to you that
among the nations of the European Union, it will continue to develop
And while now it may not be the kingdom of Antichrist, for Antichrist
has not yet, the final Antichrist has not yet appeared on this
earth. Yet it is moving toward that union that will bring in
those nations surrounding the Mediterranean Sea that will be
divided into ten sections, ruled by ten men. They will give their
power to another ruler who will arise from their midst. It is
Paul's man of sin. It is John's beast. It is Daniel's
little horn. It is the final Antichrist. Jesus said that many will come
in My name saying, I am Christ. He said that there would be many
Antichrists arise. And there have been. And there
yet will be. But there will be a final manifestation. of the power of Satan and one
who will be the final revelation of the man of sin. And he will
rule and he will dominate that area and those nations. Time does not permit me tonight
to go into all that he will do, but let me give you just in passing
a number of references. In Daniel chapter 9 we read that
he will make a covenant with Israel for one of Daniel's weeks. the 70th week, and halfway through,
He will break that covenant. Daniel 9 and Daniel 11 tell us
that He will enter into the promised land. He will set up His image
in the temple in Jerusalem. He will seek to be worshipped
as God. And at that point, as he sets
up the image that makes desolate, the abomination of desolation,
it will be the onset of what Jesus called in Matthew 24, the
Great Tribulation. We could go into great detail
in Revelation 13 and speak about his mark, speak about his persecution
of the saints, as well as his great tribulation against Israel. We could turn to Zechariah 14
and Revelation 19 and show how he will bring his armies there
will be a united army from those nations. And I noted this week
that one of the generals in the British army has changed sides
in this whole EU debate, because he recognizes that it is moving
toward one army. And in Zechariah 14 and Revelation
19, we could turn you to show how this ruler, the final Antichrist,
will bring his armies against Jerusalem and against Israel. and seek to overthrow that nation
so that it will be blotted out as it were under heaven. This
is the ruler that will eventually rise from what will become the
United States of Europe encompassing certain nations in the Middle
East as well. This is where Europe is headed
to. But men and women, I want to
close tonight for my time is almost gone and I appreciate
your patience. We've taken a little longer tonight,
but it is a special subject and we want to do it justice. We've
spoken about the rise of Europe and we've spoken about the final
ruler for Europe. I want you tonight to consider
the ruin of Europe. Would you turn back to Daniel
chapter 2, and I'm drawing your attention again to verse 34 and
verse 35. Thysos, Nebuchadnezzar, saw this
image dominate the landscape till, and only until, that a
stone was cut out without hands. I've already referred you to
Psalm 118 and Acts chapter 4 and verse 11, how that stone is Jesus
Christ's. Psalm 118 verse 22. And it tells us that a stone
was cut out without hands, which smote the image upon the feet
that were of iron and clay. That final union of nations,
Within that geographical area surrounding the Mediterranean
Sea, there's coming a day the stone, the Lord Jesus Christ,
will fall upon its feet. And the whole political empire
that has dominated and will yet dominate until Jesus comes, it
will fall to the ground. It will be judged. And that time
is the time when Jesus returns. It is then and only then that
the times of the Gentiles will come to an end. Jesus said Jerusalem
will be trampled underfoot until the times of the Gentiles cease. And it's at the coming of the
Lord Jesus. When the times of the Gentile
world domination will cease. And that image will come crashing
down. Can I turn you quickly in closing
to a number of references. Let me just show you some things
that will take place when the Lord returns. And that image,
those political institutions will fall. Notice Revelation
chapter 19 and the verse 19 and 20. It says, "...and I saw the
beast." That's the final Antichrist. "...and the kings of the earth."
Yes, he's in, as it were, union with those kings of that area. "...and their armies gathered
together to make war against him that sat on the horse and
against his army." And the beast was taken, and with him the false
prophet that wrought miracles before him, that is, before the
beast, with which he deceived them that had received the mark
of the beast, and them that had worshipped his image. These both
were cast alive into the lake of fire. burning with brimstone
as Jesus descends. Paul spoke about it as well in
2 Thessalonians chapter 2, how he would destroy that wicked
one, the man of sin, with the brightness of his coming. And
he would take him and the false prophet and cast him into the
lake of fire. What will he do with his armies
that have assembled against Jerusalem, against the Lord, and against
his anointed? Well, in Zechariah 14 and verse
12, we are told that their faces will consume away in the heat
as the Lord descends and as the fire falls. Let me read that
verse to you. Zechariah chapter 14 and the
verse 12. Listen to these words, and this
shall be the plague wherewith the Lord shall smite all the
people that have fought against Jerusalem. Their flesh shall
consume away while they stand upon their feet. Their eyes shall
consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume
away in their mouth. Oh, the Lord's descending! The
beast and the false prophet are cast into the lake of fire. Their
armies that have surrounded Jerusalem, they will consume away as they
see the brightness of His coming. And the Lord, we're told in 2
Thessalonians 1, 7 and 9, He'll take vengeance on them that know
not God and obey not the gospel. What will happen to the Christian?
The Christian will rise. The Christian will be with the
Lord. The Christian will be secure
with Christ. And oh, not only will the Lord
destroy the beast and the false prophet, and the armies that
have come against him and his people, and take vengeance on
them that know not God and obey not the gospel, and have his
saints to rise with him in the air as he descends to the Mount
of Olives. But in Revelation chapter 11
and verse 15, we are told that the kingdoms of this world will
become the kingdoms of our God and His Christ. He shall reign
forever and ever, the kingdoms or the sovereignties, the nations
of this world. will become the kingdoms and
the sovereignties of our God and His Christ. Psalm 47, 7 and
8 will be fulfilled. God is the King of all the earth.
God reigneth over the heathen. Psalm 67 and 4. Let the nations
be glad and sing for joy, for thou shalt judge the people righteously
and govern the nations upon the earth. The Lord will establish,
just as Daniel said, that stone will become a mountain that will
fill the earth. When the stone falls upon the
feet in Europe, and those nations are doomed, those that have rejected
God, and their armies are consumed, and Antichrist is cast into the
lake of fire, his kingdom will stretch from shore to shore,
and he will set up his everlasting kingdom on this earth. that will
begin, I believe, with his millennial kingdom. When we see, ladies
and gentlemen, where, and I'm concluding now, when we see where
Europe has come from and where it is headed, we can see that it's an ungodly confederacy. that will oppose all that is
called God. And given the opportunity to
cast my vote on Thursday, I think you can judge from what I have
said tonight how I will be voting. But I will be voting to leave.
And I pray and trust our nation does. I don't know what it will
do. And it may well vote to remain. What a tragedy that will be.
But I trust that God tonight has given us a little insight
into where Europe has come from, where it is headed, and what
will be its ultimate judgment. The Bible says, make your calling
and election sure. And I ask you tonight, will you
be part of that confederacy that is against God, and against His
Word, and against His people? Or will you be for the Lord?
Will you trust in Him, so that in that day of judgment, You'll
be taken to heaven to be with Christ and to reign with Him
on this earth rather than face the lake of fire and judgment
where the devil and the beast and the false prophet and all
the enemies of God will be. Where will you be?
The rise, the ruler and ruin of Europe
How will Europe rise again?
Who is the final ruler of Europe?
What will the ruin of Europe be?
