Pastor Jason Cooley here with
OPBC Online, a ministry of Old Paths Baptist Church in Northfield,
Minnesota. And I am here with Brother Jim
again. How you doing, Brother Jim? Good brother. How you doing? I am doing great. And we are
going to take a break from our AI series for a little while
here. We're going to pick back up on
that AI series though. We've got some other ideas and
some other things that we want to bring to you about that. But
right now we see a pressing matter that really needs to be dealt
with that almost like we're being harassed with like nonstop. And
you know, We're going to deal with this issue of the flat Earth.
And Brother Jim, how many times do you hear about this a day,
probably? Mmm more than once. Yes, every day. I mean every
yeah every day We hear about the flat earth every day. We
hear about something about flat earth something about flat earth
and and what do you believe in Florida and I've had people send
me videos and videos and video and memes and Fancy memes and
fancier memes and other memes and me me me me memes. I mean
so many on that that it's like, okay, and then people ask me,
what do you believe about the flat earth and I put out a video
a few days ago just dealing with some of the comments that have
been made to me about the flat earth and You know, I had some
people get upset about it And they got upset because I just
used some of their comments and repeated them, and they didn't
like that. So what they were asking for was a scriptural answer
to the Flat Earth. And my answer, our answer at
Old Pastor Baptist Church, is this concerning the Flat Earth.
Geocentricity is the biblical answer to the Flat Earth fable.
And that's exactly the position that we hold here. We are going
to explain to you today the geocentric model that we believe, and then
we're going to explain to you why we do not hold to a flat
earth, and explain all of the terms that flat earthers, or
most of the terms that flat earthers use, but we are going to use
the Bible to define the Bible. We're going to use the word of
God, right, Brother Jim? Yes, sir. And that's what we're going
to come up with to show you exactly what our position is. Listen,
this flattered thing, it's gotten out of hand. People have exalted
this doctrine. And I'm going to tell you, I
believe it's an attack two different ways. I believe the sacred namers
are using it as an attack on the authority of the name of
Jesus, which we've already seen the sacred namers do, OK? Right. They do that. They don't like
the name of Jesus and they war against the name of Jesus. And
anytime you have somebody that wars against the name of Jesus,
there's a problem there. There's a reason. That's right.
The devil wars against the name of Jesus. Yep. Yeah, and we're also going to
show you that the Flat Earth Jesus. Right. Right. The Flat Earth model Preaches
another Christ now. I'm not saying you're lost if
you believe it because you might be confused about right? You
don't know who Jesus is Okay, we're not saying that what we're
saying is the picture it distorts the picture and it preaches a
different Christ Yep. All right, so I'm gonna be clear
about that. We're not saying everybody that believes the flat
earth is lost and they worship devils We're not saying that
okay. No, the picture is being distorted of who Christ is and
That's the message that we're giving. And I'm going to try
to keep my sarcasm and everything else down and be extremely straightforward
and extremely scriptural with every single Bible verse that
I can possibly use to explain to you our position on this issue. So you can't attempt to use my
disposition or my personality as an excuse for you not to listen
to this teaching or not to accept the truth of the Bible because
you want to try to just point a finger. I'm not going to do
that. I'm going to be very careful with that. The best I can is
you have to pray for me, all right? Because that side of me,
that sarcastic side, likes to come out when I hear something
that's totally ridiculous. But anyway, so, but what we want
to do is show you that the second attack is that attack, the flat
earth, it attacks the King James Bible. I believe it does. Amen.
Absolutely. It attacks, these guys are always
saying, well, they go to the Hebrew or they got to go to the
Greek or they got to go to another language. Go to the Strong's
Concordance. Yep. Yeah. Well, they say they're
King James. Well, the Strong's Concordance,
Yep. Or they're using the, um, uh,
that name, the restored King James restored name, King James
version. Ah, by the way, if you're using
a restored King James name, King James, you're not using the King
James Bible. Amen. And you're wrong. You better
get right with God. The new Testament was not originally written in
ancient Hebrew. That's right. So, you know, Right,
exactly. So anyway, so we're going to
help you. So the first half of this show, what we're going to
deal with, we are going to deal with a biblical doctrine and
teaching of geocentricity. Amen. We're going to show you
that the earth does not move and the sun moves. We're going
to show you that's a picture of the gospel that has to do
with Christology and many other doctrines that are taught in
the Word of God. and it shows the preeminence of Christ through
the whole thing and that it really biblical geocentricity really
destroys the flat earth movement. Yes. Amen. And I believe Here's
what I believe has happened. I believe people have seen that,
well, the Bible doesn't preach or teach heliocentricity. And
all these scientists, everybody believe heliocentricity, but
that's not true, because the Earth doesn't move, because the
Bible says it doesn't move. So what they do is they look to
that and they say, well, they discredit everybody that doesn't
believe in a flat Earth. Because they say, well, hey,
the flat Earth's moving as an answer for that. So that's the word.
Exactly. Flat Earth. And that's why there's a lot
of good people that have been sucked into this and have followed
along with it because they hear this partial answer and they
see it from scripture and they realize that the world and the
world systems and what the world views as science and what the
world views as truth is all false. And so we get this partial truth
Well, it's exactly like every time you try to have a Flat Earth
discussion, there's two initial responses every single time. It's either, oh, so you believe
NASA? That's one. Or you believe you're
on a spinning ball that's going 1,000 miles per hour? You really
believe that? Exactly. No, I don't really believe
that. Amen. We don't believe that, and we
want to show you the truth, and we're not mad at you. Listen,
let me say this. Yes, I did that video, and yes, I brought out
in a sarcastic way the same way the Apostle Paul used sarcasm
all through his books of the Bible that he wrote to be sarcastic
towards foolishness, the same way Elijah, when he was on the
Mount, used sarcasm against those that were teaching falsehoods
and exalting something. When I come out like that, it
is not against everybody. By the way, and I've had Flat
Earthers tell me they know this already, a lot of them. But it's
not, I'm not coming out against and insulting everybody that
believes in the Flat Earth. No. No, of course not. What I'm
doing, it's the people that exalt that doctrine above the Bible,
above Christ, above everything else that's important. And they
get ridiculous, like comments that were made that you know,
because I believe in flat earth, I'm invincible to devils. Yeah. Those kinds of things. Okay.
But I'm not mad at you. I don't hate you for your flat
earth. I don't wish any ill towards you. I'm not angry with you. Um, I do have a personality and
I know that's hard to believe in this world that a man actually
has a personality. I don't know why that's so hard
for people. It's like they want you to speak monotone calmly
with your legs crossed and your, and your, wrist limp in order
for you to be this passive person that they can accept something
from. That's not even reality, because these same people go
to ball games and scream their heads off. So my point is that,
yeah, I mean, we're going to be bold in our stand, and we're
not going to back off. And because people try to back
us in a corner, we're not going to go cry. Amen. You know, I haven't
been fluorided to death yet. Anyway, but the point is that
we're going to be very clear scripturally here. We want to
bring the truth to you. We want to help you with it. We want
to show you the biblical answer to the flat Earth. We want to
bring this show out, too, because there's people out there that
they're like, what's the answer to this flat Earth stuff? Because
we don't understand it. We know that the Earth isn't
flat. We understand that. We just don't get scripturally
the truth about all of it. So we're going to get into that.
And the first thing we're going to start out in is, what is geocentricity? because the truth is that geocentricity
is the answer. Geocentricity is the answer to
that flat earth. So that's what we're going to
go through right now. And then we're going to get into a lot
of scripture. We're going to show you scripture all through the
Bible that prove geocentricity and which consequently disprove
the flat earth theory. And then in the second hour,
we're going to show you where the Flat Earth theory kind of comes from.
We're not going to do a comprehensive history, and we're going to show
you in biblical terms the terms that are used that Flat Earthers
try to use to defend their Flat Earth theory and prove that its
theory is not based on the scriptures. and we will give you the scriptural
references for that and explain that to you. This is going to
be a biblical answer, okay? So we're going to read you some
background here of what geocentricity is, because you may not know,
and we're going to give you that, and then we're going to get in
to the differences and teach you through the Bible a wonderful
doctrine that I believe will help you understand and help
your children understand that you can actually teach your children
on this as well and recommend some resources for you to find
and you can teach your children the truth of geocentricity which
exalts Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior. Amen. Amen. Alright,
so what is geocentricity? Geocentricity means Earth-centered. The alternative is heliocentricity,
which means Sun-centered. Until about 500 years ago, people
believed that the Earth was the center of the whole universe. They got this idea from two sources.
Number one, as they observed the sun crossing the heavens
each day and the moon and stars moving across the heavens at
night, they came to the conclusion that the earth was standing still
while the sun, moon, and stars moved around it. And number two,
scripture indicates in various places that the earth stands
still while the sun, moon, and stars move around it. So Jim,
what happened? OK, so why did this view change? What happened? I want you to
read that. OK, up till about the early 1500s, the scientific
view of the universe was based on the ideas of the Greek astronomer
Ptolemy. He believed that the sun, moon,
and stars circled the Earth, which itself moved backwards
and forwards along a line. As the telescope was better developed,
it became obvious from the observations that this was not what was happening. Two astronomers made their own
observations and came up to their own explanations of how the heavens
worked, Tycho Brahe and Nicolaus Copernicus. Tico Brahe made very
careful observations over a long period of many years. He believed
that his observations confirmed they were at the center of the
universe, i.e., that it stood still at the center of everything. The sun and the moon moved around
the Earth. However, the planets other than
the Earth moved around the Sun, not the Earth, and were carried
around the Earth as the Sun moved around the Earth. Tycho Brahe
died before he could publish his results, and his ideas are
not well known today. Now, Nicolaus Copernicus did
not make as many or as good of observations as Brahe. However,
he was interested in the Greek philosophers, and he agreed with
the ancient Greek philosopher Plato. The sun is the most magnificent
of all gods. Of course, Plato did not believe
in the god of the scriptures. He believed that there were a
whole lot of gods, and he believed that the most important of these
was the sun. As Copernicus thought about it,
he decided that the sun should be the center rather than the
earth. In his system, which was much simpler than Tycho's, he
had the sun at the center and all the planets going around
it. This is the view that eventually became popular and is still taught
today. Lately, there are some astronomers that have wondered
if Copernicus was right. In spite of the fact that many
experiments have been done to prove that the Earth moves, many
of them have shown that it does not move. Those that seem to
show that it moves are only showing that either the Earth is moving
or the universe is turning around the Earth. Tico, you remember,
said that the universe turns around the Earth while Copernicus
said that the Earth was moving and while the sun and stars stood
still. Well, who was right? Well, the
answer ought to be what the Scriptures say, and we're going to get to
that, but we're going to hold off on that just a second. So, you
know, you bear with us here, but we're going to get to the
Scriptures here. We want to further explain some more. So let's scroll
down here into this next teaching here. grade six here, and we
talk about for which what we're reading to you is basically a
primer for teaching on geocentricity to get started. And then we're
going to just give you a ton of scripture with it. But we
want to give you a little bit of a background so you understand that there
was this battle that took place. Okay, this battle that took place
was a battle for the truth. And error in the minds of the
world, that error in the world prevailed. And in the churches,
that heliocentric model prevailed. People gave up on the truth of
the scriptures because they were foolish. Okay? Yeah. For many years, people
believed that the earth was stationary at the center of the universe
and the sun and everything else went around it. There were various
reasons for this view. Obviously, we can see that, you
know, secondly, the observations that astronomers made seem to
confirm this. Thirdly, and most importantly,
like we said before, scripture confirms it. And we're going
to get to that. But when Copernicus came on the scene, he proposed
a different way to look at things. Instead of the sun and everything
else moving around the earth, he said the earth moved around
the sun. There was another astronomer at that time, and we talked about
him. So these men, and then another man came into play, Galileo.
Galileo invented an improved telescope, which enabled him
to see the heavenly bodies more clearly. When he observed the
moons of Jupiter, he thought he had proved that the Earth
goes around the sun in the same way that the moons of Jupiter
go around Jupiter. Of course, this did not prove anything,
except that the moons of Jupiter do indeed go around Jupiter.
But Galileo decided to teach heliocentric view as fact anyway. And since the time of Galileo,
many experts have been done, many experiments have been done
to try to prove that the Earth moves, but still, they don't
show it. They show one or two things.
That the Earth does not move at all, it's stationary. Or number
two, either that the Earth rotates while the universe stands still,
or the universe rotates around the Earth while the Earth stands
still. All the observations that can be taken, equally well explained
by either the heliocentric or geocentric view. So there's some
facts that are determined by that. Number one, whether the
Earth is stationary or not, it will always seem to someone on
Earth that the sun and stars are moving while the Earth stands
still. Number two, no experiment has yet been done that proves
that the Earth is moving. In fact, many experiments have
merely confirmed that it does not move. And number three, scripture
has numerous references to the earth standing still and the
sun moving. Two of the most spectacular of
these are Joshua's long day in Joshua chapter 10 and Hezekiah's
miraculous sign in second Kings chapter 20. In both of these,
the scriptures clearly indicate that the earth is standing still
while the sun moves. In Joshua chapter 10, the sun
is stopped while in second Kings chapter 20 is actually moved
back. As we study, as we look at this,
as we study the earth, we find that it makes quite a bit of
a big difference what framework of reference we accept. The conclusions
drawn by heliocentrists are going to be different from those held
by geocentrists. So let's look at these two conclusions.
Brother Jim, you take the heliocentrism and I'll take the geocentricity.
Okay. Heliocentrism says there are
two movements of the Earth, rotation and revolution. Geocentricity
says the Earth is stationary at the center of the universe.
It does not rotate or revolve. Heliocentrism says, rotation. The Earth rotates on its own
axis from west to east. It takes 24 hours for the Earth
to rotate once. The rotation of the Earth causes
day and night. Geocentricity teaches the sun
travels around the earth once in 24 hours. This causes day
and night. And scripture supports this view
in Joshua chapter 10, where the sun stood still, and 2 Kings
chapter 20, verse 8 through 11, where the sun went back 10 degrees.
Heliocentrism states, revolution, the earth revolves around the
sun once in 365 days. This, in conjunction with the
tilt of the earth's axis, causes the seasons. Geocentricity teaches
the sun travels around the earth in a spiral-type orbit so that
it is closer to the northern hemisphere in June and closer
to the southern hemisphere in December. And this causes the
seasons. Amen. Which we're going to get
into the seasons, actually. Yeah, that's a good quote there,
too. I want to read this quote to you and we'll get into the
seasons here, but I want to read this quote. Perhaps, however, the greatest
problem is where the whole controversy began. Philosophy. Burgess writing
in Earth chauvinism says this. The story of creation tells about
a plan of salvation centered upon a particular people and
a particular man. As long as someone is thinking
in terms of a geocentric universe, the story has a certain plausibility.
As soon as an astronomer changes theories, however, the whole
Christian history loses the only setting within which it would
make sense. With the solar system no longer
the center of anything, imagining that what happens here forms
the center of a universal drama becomes simply silly. Burgess
is an atheist. He does not believe the scriptures,
but does he really have specific proof for his ideas as he apparently
thinks he has? Professor J.F. Henry pointed
out in Geocentrism and Heliocentrism, the possibility that we have
a special place in the universe is depressing to the humanists
and is to be absolutely avoided. Why? Only because it shows that
there must be a God and that we are responsible to him for
the way we live. Jim, think about that for a second,
right? You think about that, that here's a guy that is telling
you the truth, a philosopher that is telling you, hey, if
geocentrism isn't true, then the whole gospel is ridiculous.
The whole fact that Jesus came and died on the cross for sinners
is ridiculous, because the whole center of the world, the whole
center of the universe is the earth, and if Christ is all centered
around one man, the man Christ Jesus, then guess what? Nothing
matters. None of this stuff makes any
sense, and none of this stuff matters. Right, and everything
becomes figurative. At best, it's a preterist position
when, well, you know, from our perspective, this is what was
going on, or from the writer's perspective, and they disregard
the fact that the Bible was written by God, and He used men, so it's
all from God's perspective, and we'll talk about that later in
some scriptures. But yes, and Bertrand Russell
also used that to mock Christians because Christians moved away
from the biblical position of geocentricity. Yeah, and we're
definitely going to talk about him too later on when we talk
about the importance of geocentricity after we get done covering this.
We're going to cut because that's a very important comment that
he makes. And it proves to you that, you know what, I'm going
to say this. I understand the tenacity of
some of the flat earthers in the sense that they know there's
something wrong with heliocentricity. And modern day science and modern
day creationists have taught heliocentricity and it drives
them nuts because they know there's something more and it's not right. So some of you heliocentrists
have thrown a bone to those flat earthers because you have
denied the authority of scripture by saying that the by by taking
on the heliocentric model you have actually given them some
fuel for their fire by not accepting the plain truth of geocentricity
because of fear for what man will think yeah that's right
you know so you know you got to give credit where credit's
due that part is true you know um You know, we could go on about
those other two guys, but really, you know, I'm not going to get,
I really want to get into the seasons more and talk about that. The
seasons are first mentioned in Genesis chapter one, verse number
14, with the creation of the sun, moon, and stars. And God
said, let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to
divide the day from the night and let them be for signs and
for seasons and for days and years. It seems, however, that
there were no seasons as we know them until after the flood, as
there is evidence that before that time the earth had a uniformly
warm climate. After the flood, God says, Well,
Jim, why don't you read what causes the seasons there? What causes the seasons? According
to heliocentrists, they are caused by the Earth's revolution around
the Sun in conjunction with the tilt of the Earth's axis. The
angle of inclination is 66.5 degrees to the plane of the Earth's
orbit. Because the Earth is a sphere,
only one half can receive the sun's heat and light at a time. As the Earth travels around the
sun, the sun's rays fall vertically over one part of the Earth at
one time of the year and over another part at another time.
The result is an uneven distribution of heat over the surface of the
Earth, causing our spring, summer, autumn, winter cycle. According
to the geocentrists, the Earth does not move at all. It is a
sphere, and so only one half can receive heat and light at
a time. And it is tilted at 66.5 degrees
from the vertical. However, the sun, besides traveling
once around the Earth every 24 hours, also travels between the
Tropic of Cancer and the Tropic of Capricorn and back every 365
days. The sun's rays, therefore, fall
vertically over one part of the Earth at one time of the year
and over another part at another time. The result is an uneven
distribution of heat over the surface of the earth, causing
our spring, summer, autumn, winter cycle. As you can see, both views
seek to explain exactly the same effects. They just explain the
same facts in different ways. So what difference does it really
make? In astronomy, it makes a big difference. Because if
we are going around the sun, we have an orbit with a diameter
of about 300 million kilometers. This orbit can be used to calculate
the distances to the nearest stars, which then turn out to
be about four and a half light years away. On the basis of this,
using various assumptions, we can extrapolate that the size
of the universe is about 20,000 million light-years across. If,
however, the Earth stands still, we do not have that baseline
of 300 million kilometers. Using other methods and some
reasonable assumptions, we can calculate that the furthest objects
in the universe may only be 60 light-days away. This means that
the diameter of the universe would only be about 120 light
days, about a third of one light year. If this should be so, it
would completely revolutionize all current theories about the
universe and space exploration. And this is where the flat earthers
come in, because they're like, something's not right with these figures.
It's kind of a joke. Well, that's because they're
basing everything on heliocentrism. If you base it on geocentrism,
everything makes sense. I was going to say it's good
to point out that current world science, secular astronomy, is
no longer heliocentric because now the sun is just one of billions
or trillions of suns, which each have their own solar system. So the current present model
is not, it's what they refer to as acentric. It's not even
the current science, you know, secular model is an acentric
model or a pancentric model that has really has no center. So, you know, they continue to
evolve their position, so to speak. Yep. Right. Okay. So, I mean, that's
now we want to get into really, as we've kind of laid the foundation
of, you know, geocentricity in that way, we're going to kind
of talk about the importance of geocentricity and why it is,
why it matters. Okay. And after that, then we're
going to get into a ton of scripture. Okay, so Dr. Bowe wrote a good book, Dr. Bowe,
Dr. Bowe, I don't want to say his name properly, but hopefully
I'm not mutilating. It's called Christianity in the
Woodshed, and it deals with geocentricity and the truth of it, and it's
really a primer on the entire subject. You know, so he wrote a chapter
called The Importance of Geocentricity. And it is important in science,
and it's important in the Word of God, it's important for Christians
to accept geocentricity for a lot of reasons. But accepting geocentricity
does not mean that we accept a flat Earth. Because we don't. Because we
don't believe the Bible teaches a flat Earth. If I believed the
Bible taught a flat Earth, then I would hold the flat Earth and
I wouldn't care what anybody thought. And I can tell you that
honestly for a lot of reasons. Number one, I'm going to obey
God rather than man. And by God's grace, I've proven
that in this ministry over and over again. We are not a 501c3. We are not incorporated. We do
not have a tax identification number. We are not part of any
World Council of Churches. We are not an organization. We are not a legal entity. We
did not accept any of those things. We preach against things like
Hollywood. We preach against things like movies. We preach
against things, all of those things. We have taken our stands
against the wickedness of this world and for geocentricity and
for the truth of Scripture, no matter what man thinks of it.
We have stood against the holidays. We do not hold to the holidays. We do not hold to Christmas and
Easter and all those other holidays. We do not practice them. We abstain
from those holidays. I say that because, not to brag,
I'm saying that because there are flat earthers out there that
will say, well, you just, you know, you don't want to be labeled.
You don't want to, no, that's not true. I have been labeled
my whole ministry because I have not, I have stood outside of
the box and not accepted what this world has taught and not
accepted what Christians have taught. Also, I'm a Baptist,
and I hold the Baptist doctrine, and I believe in the authority
of the Scriptures, and we hold to the King James Bible, and
we do not believe that we need to correct the King James Bible.
And I hold to a local church only position, which is also
a position that has gotten me in trouble with many people.
And so those are all positions that are not popular. Okay. It's
not popular. None of those positions are popular.
So this notion that I'm afraid to suffer reproach for the flat
earth. Listen, we also preach the gospel
out on the streets. You know, we've preached outside
of gay pride events. We've preached to Black Lives
Matters. We've preached to a bunch of
different people outside of those places and outside of the most
dangerous places that you can possibly preach. And we have
lifted up the name of Christ outside of the camp to bear the
reproach of Christ outside of the camp many times over. And
listen, nobody ever tried to assault me, spit on me, punch
me in the face, or attack me physically for the shape of the
earth. They did, however, when I lifted up the name of Christ
and preached against their sin in the open air, out on the street
corner, we did suffer reproach for Christ's sake. We were attacked
physically out there. We have been spit upon. We have
been pushed around. We have been threatened. We have
been threatened arrest and all those things. So the notion that
we are afraid to suffer for Christ's sake and we are afraid to hold
a flat-earth position because we're afraid of what people think
of us is absolutely astronomically the dumbest thing that could
be applied to us that I've, one of the dumbest things I've ever
heard. Okay. Because we have suffered reproach and I'm not
exalting us. Okay. What I'm saying is, is
that That's not even remotely true. We would gladly suffer
that if we believe that to be true. But we don't believe it
to be true. We don't believe that it makes
any sense at all from that standpoint to hold to that. We don't believe
the Bible teaches that. Well, and the same, another point
that's good is, you know, on the Church's website it explains
that we are geocentric. And that is not a popular position
among Christians today. It's not a popular position. And when I first found the church,
and I kept listening to different sermons, I was always, when I
saw the geocentrism stuff, I was like, oh boy, yeah, they're those
kind of people. You know what I mean? And I was
kind of like, mocked it until I looked at it for myself and
studied it for myself. And, you know, and, and the church
has held that position and openly holds that position and it's
stated right on our website. Right. So we're not, so the reason
why we're saying that is there's this misnomer out there that,
Oh, you're just afraid of what people think. And you're afraid.
No, honestly, further saying, because you know what? There's
a lot of other things we could talk about. Like, I don't believe
women ought to wear britches, okay? I don't believe women ought
to dress like men. I believe women ought to have long hair.
I believe women ought to be keepers. And another one, keepers at home.
That's another one we preach, that women ought to be keepers
at home. Why don't you go through and see how many of these Flat
Earth Ministries preach keepers at home? How many of them preach
that? How many pastors stand up and churches stand up and
preach on keepers at home that the word of God be not blasphemed?
You know how much reproach and how much persecution that has
caused? Not the shape of the earth, Okay,
but the fact that women ought to stay home and husbands ought
to take care of their wives and they shouldn't go to work and
they should take care of their children and take care of their
children. You know how many churches, independent Baptist churches
preach that or even reform churches that preach that? Not very many
that'll stand on those. I know one. Yeah, not very many
that'll stand on those. Okay, so I would rather see churches
stand on those things So when you say we're afraid to suffer
reproach, no, I would look you in your eye and tell you, your
wife needs to be home with your children and you need to provide
for your family. And if you don't, you're worse than an infidel.
That's right. Now that's not popular. Okay. So for anyone to think that I'm
afraid at what somebody will think of me if I'm flat earth. Sorry, that's not accurate. I'm
just, again, all the glory goes to Christ. He's the one that
does the work in us. But if I believe the earth was
flat, and if I had that deep down in my soul, I wouldn't care
what one man on this earth thought about it. Amen. I would follow
Christ. Okay, so that's a ridiculous
argument in and of itself. Most of these people are very
immature and they don't understand scriptural stands and most of
the Bible. But anyway, regardless, so let's move on to the importance
of geocentricity. Dr. Beaux says this, in 1542,
Copernicus, a Polish canon of the Roman Catholic Church, insisted
that only the sun and not the earth was worthy to be at the
center of the universe, despite the clear teaching of scripture,
to the contrary. Copernicus' advocacy of heliocentrism,
as his model is called, was based entirely on Greek philosophy.
Despite the insistent efforts and enthusiastic Copernican supporters
such as Johannes Kepler and Galileo, It took a hundred years for heliocentrism
to become the dominant worldview. And it did so with all scientific
evidence favoring the best geocentric model and no evidence favoring
Copernicus's model. Throughout the entire 17th century,
the evidence overwhelmingly favored the geocentric model and denied
the Copernican model. The modern claim that heliocentric
model overpowered the geocentric universe model with irrefutable
evidence and proof is a myth. the first of many associated
with heliocentrism. It was called the Copernican
Revolution. And it was a shift from the geocentric to the heliocentric
universe. It was not just a revolution
in the field of astronomy, nor was it a revolution of good science
overpowering bad science and superstition. The real revolution
was against the Bible. It was against the authority
of Scripture. And we preach geocentricity because
we preach it upon the authority of Scripture. I don't care about
maps and models and everything else. I care what God's Word
says. What I can clearly define in
the Bible, that's what I care about. I don't care if a thousand
scientists told me I was nuts in the head and they had proof
of heliocentrism. I would say, well, then why does
God's Word say it's geocentric? Amen. Okay, if the earth rotates
on its axis, then the author of scripture, even the Holy Ghost,
which verbally inspired a falsehood in Joshua chapter 10, verse number
13, when he wrote that the sun stood still. Why would God confuse
us and tell us that the sun stood still? If it didn't. If it didn't move, why would
he confuse us? Likewise, the Holy Ghost, when giving by inspiration
the words, he maketh his son to rise in Matthew 545, passed
off another falsehood as the truth. The reverberations of
the Copernican Revolution still ring today, particularly in the
realms of politics and theology. For without said revolution,
there would be no higher criticism which assumes God is incapable
of writing what he means to say or meaning what he wrote. Without
the Copernican Revolution, there would be no Marxism in which
the state replaces God, nor could there be any evolutionism with
its bigotry and racism and faith that man will eventually evolve
to ultimately overpower God. After all, if God cannot be taken
literally when he writes of the rising of the sun, then how can
he be taken literally in writing of the rising of the sun in Malachi
chapter 4? According to science, both are
equally impossible. Prior to heliocentrism, there
was geocentrism, the ancient belief that the earth is located
at rest in the center of the universe. Until well into the
16th century, most people believed that the earth was immobile at
the center of the universe. that was taken for granted to
be both scriptural and natural. To question the immobility of
the earth was to invite the charge of heresy. The earth was, after
all, central in God's attention, central to His affection, and
central to His purpose of creation. It was to the earth that Jesus
Christ came. It was on the earth that He died
on the cross for the sins of man. And it was in the earth
that He was resurrected, that man may have eternal life. It
is on earth where happen those things which the angels desire
to look into. How logical then the idea that
the earth is nestled unmovingly at the center of all creation.
Go ahead and read about the rise of heliocentrism, Brother Jim.
But the rise of heliocentrism in the 16th century changed all
that. Gradually, the heliocentric belief
became the dominant faith so that today, except for considerations
under the Aegis of Relativity, or Mach's
Principle, two secular theories allowing the possibility of geocentricity
because all appearances demand it. One is considered scientifically
illiterate if one seriously questions heliocentrism. at all. The truth is that modern science
no longer believes the Copernican idea that the Sun is the center
of the universe. Today's consensus has it that
there is no center to the universe or rather that every place in
the universe, whether the center of a supercluster of galaxies
or a dizzily spinning proton looks as if it is neither moving
nor rotating at the center of the universe. The modern view
is more properly termed either as acentric, without center,
or more correctly, pancentric. with its center everywhere instead
of heliocentric. Likewise, the modern view corresponding
to geocentrism, which placed the Earth at the geometric center
of the universe, now places the Earth at the dynamic center,
also called the center of mass, the center of gravity, the balancing
point, the pivot point, and the barycenter of the universe. As
a result, the modern form of geocentrism is properly called
geocentricity, not geocentrism or not geocentricism. Geocentricity is the theory that
Earth neither rotates on its axis daily nor orbits the sun
annually, but is the center on which the rest of the universe
turns. Geocentricity is the assurance that the Bible can be taken literally
not only when... You can stop right there, that's
okay. Okay. Yeah, we got enough of that. But it can be taken
literally no matter when it's, when the Bible states something
emphatically over and over and over again, it can be taken literally. Amen. It's not figurative. It's
not, it's not figurative. Okay? Geocentrism presented the
Bible's authority when the Ten Commandments, that their authority
rests upon the authority of the Bible, which can only be maintained
intact if the Bible is accepted as a whole. When the Bible seems
to say that the earth does not move, we must adhere to that
statement in spite of the arguments of Galileo. Since otherwise,
we shall be giving encouragement to murderers and other kinds
of malfactors. Although few would now accept this argument, it
cannot be regarded as absurd, nor should those who acted upon
it be viewed with moral reprobation. You know, Bert, what is his name
is Russell? Bertrand Russell. Bertrand Russell.
He said basically that, you know what, you have to accept the
Bible's view of geocentricity, otherwise, If you don't, then
it destroys the whole Bible. Because if you destroy part of
the Bible, then you destroy all the Bible. He knew that. Bertrand Russell knew that. And
he attacked Bible believers because they would not accept geocentricity
because he said the Bible teaches geocentricity. And that sex-perverted
philosopher knew that he could destroy the position or the Bible's
authority in the minds of people if people have done away with
geocentricity, then the Bible's not true. It's just not true. And that's what he taught. It's
just like every preterist position, that all these things are just
figurative, or they're just from a point of perspective, and they
explain away gigantic portions of the Bible, just as figurative. And here's the question, and
if God does write things that are not true in those passages,
which refer to the immobility of the earth, then how could
man trust anything else God writes? How could we possibly know what
God meant to say or what is true if he does not say what he means
in the first place? Or is the heliocentric idea merely
another version of Satan's ploy to deceive Eve as recorded in
Genesis 3-1, where the devil casts doubt upon the veracity
of God's Word? Yea, hath God said? That's what
heliocentrism says. Yea, hath God said? Good question, isn't it? And
finally, is the evidence for heliocentrism really as overwhelming
as the elementary textbook make it seem? Science historian Thomas
Kuhn includes the geocentric model in these matters when he
writes this, in the case of textbooks, at least there are even good
reasons why in these matters they should be systematically
misleading. So what's the conclusion of the
importance of geocentricity, especially when it relates to
flat Earth? Here it is. So why is geocentricity an important
topic? Number one, if it is taught in
Scripture, it must be important since there are no insignificant
or disposable doctrines in Scripture. If there were, in the very act
of writing about them, God would waste not only our time, but
also His own. Number two, it was on the issue of geocentricity
that science challenged scripture. And by backing down in the absence
of any evidence, let alone proof against the Holy Bible, believers
crippled both the authority of scripture as well as their own
authority as keepers of the words of God in not only the eyes of
the world, but even their own eyes. Geocentricity is still
the only conflict between science and scripture. Evolution is not
science. That evolution is superstition
and not scientific is confirmed by evolutionists. Frenetic cries
to ban all contrary evidence from the classroom of the world.
Quote read number three and four, Brother Jim. Okay, because geocentricity
cannot ignore the existence of the universe in its theories,
it presents an integrated and far more comprehensive view of
the universe. Number four, even though the
lack of geocentrists among astronomers cause the evidence for the heliocentric
view to predominate for about 150 years, later measurements
and observations forced a return to the geocentric viewpoint.
Unwilling to do that, secular science instead adopted the theory
of relativity to keep the Earth moving despite itself. For a
true Bible believer, the first point should be enough. Nevertheless,
we shall examine the issue in detail, starting with the assertion
that geocentrists are throwbacks to believers in a flat Earth. Exactly. See, we're going to
rebuke that position and show you that geocentrism is the biblical
position and flat earth is an overreach over the truth. So they go from heliocentrism
all the way past geocentrism, which is the center position,
Right? You like how I did that? The
center position, right? All the way past that
into flat earth. It's not necessary. And it's
not biblical. And we're going to prove that.
But what we do need to state is the case for geocentricity
from the scriptures. We had to kind of explain to
you what it was a little bit, give you an introduction of it a little
bit. Now we're going to illustrate it through the Bible. And let
me tell you, I can get you all a PDF file and I'll probably
have it added to this teaching on Sermon Audio, the PDF file
of 500 Bible verses. proving geocentricity or illustrating
geocentricity. Probably do that for you when
that teaching goes online just so you have that and you can
download it and you can read those verses and study them yourself.
So we'll put a study guide together for you on that so you can have
that, okay? But we're going to get into the
scriptures now and we're going to get into what those Bible
verses state from the Word of God about geocentricity. Okay? So, let's get started here. I mean, we can start right in
the beginning, I suppose. Genesis 1-2? Yes, right in the
beginning. And there's no gap. Yes, there's
no gap. That's right. Right? That's right.
So, go ahead, Brother Jim, you just get started with it. Genesis
1-2, and the earth was without form and void, and darkness was
upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon
the face of the waters. The following establishes the
geocentric import of this verse. It stems from a letter that appeared
in the Biblical Astronomer, number 62, pages 17 and 18, in 1992. Which started out with, I have
always wondered why Genesis 1-2 in the midst of creating it says,
and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. The conclusion
is that God's Spirit comes to us either in par as in the Old
Testament or in full as in the New Testament. The Holy Ghost
speaks only of Christ. who came to us in the flesh.
The letter concluded with, as it is Jesus Christ who does the
moving, and the earth remains stationary, so the sun goes around
the earth. The earth neither moves nor spins.
In Malachi 3.6 it says, For I am the Lord God, I change not. It
implies that we do the changing. So God is saying that He does
the moving and the earth remains stationary. It doesn't make sense
that the earth would be still for three days and then begin
to move. This line of reasoning makes evident a good point. Since
it was the Spirit which moved on the face of the waters, then
there is no rotation evident on the water's part, and by implication,
no rotation on the part of the earth either." Amen! So, the
Bible illustrates right in the beginning, right in the first
chapter, geocentricity. And I'm going to read some more
verses here to you. Genesis 1-16, we're not going to read them
all because we don't have time. We're going to try to read a few out
of every book, maybe. We're going to try to move it
along, but there's a lot. Some of them we're going to read
more. But we're going to show you that the sun moves, the sun
rises and sets, but the earth does not. The Bible never says
that the earth moves like that. Like the Sun does it says the
Sun moves. Okay, and that's a picture of
the gospel of Jesus Christ Amen, the sinless Son of God the Son
of righteousness with healing in his wings. Amen all right,
so Genesis chapter 1 verse number 16 And God's and God made two
great lights the greater light to rule the day and the lesser
light to rule the night He made the stars also Okay, and the
geocentric teaching in that is continued in verse number 18,
and to rule over the day and over the night and to divide
the light from the darkness, and God saw that it was good.
If the earth revolves around the sun, then the night, which
is the cone of darkness, which is the shadow of the earth, would
also orbit the sun, and so the sun would also rule the night.
Does it make sense? Only in a geocentric position
does it make sense. That's right. Genesis 711, in the 600th year
of Noah's life, in the second month, the 17th day of the month,
the same day where all the fountains of the great deep broken up and
the windows of heaven were opened. The reference to the windows
of heaven relate to an open firmament. Check that out. Think about that.
How about verse number 20? Genesis 7, 20. 15 cubits upward
did the waters prevail, and the mountains were covered. That's
geocentric. This is global. So according
to this, the earth is at the origin of a cosmic reference
frame, one chosen by God. Also in scripture, up is north,
down is south. Picking Jerusalem is special.
Amen. Yeah, so I want to point that
out. Not only is the earth special in the sense of its relation
to God and its being the center of creation, but Jerusalem as
a point on the earth is special. And what we're going to see is
that Jerusalem is directly under God's throne. And that is why
it is God's place. Amen. Right. Jerusalem belongs
to the Lord. Amen. Genesis chapter 19 verse
number 15 and when the morning arose and the angels hastened
lot saying arise take thy wife and thy two daughters which are
here Lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city the
morning did the rising the earth did not turn out towards it See
that man Christ does the rising and will draw if you lift him
up. What does he do? Draw all men
unto himself, right? We don't move towards him. He's
lifted up and Amen. And he draws by his lifting up
because the sun moves. Amen. And the sun rises. And
the sun does not rise in a flat earth model. Exactly. And the
sun rises from the dead, raised from the dead. Yep. Picture the
gospel. You see that? That's right. Don't
distort the gospel's picture. Amen. It's there. Man, there's
so many other ones. The sun was risen upon the earth
when Lot entered into Zoar. Here the word earth is used to
refer to a country, to land, not to the globe. This has ramifications
against the flat earth. Yep. See that? Yeah, we'll touch
on that later. We'll hit that later. Yes, we
will. Yes, we will. And I mean, there's so many more
that you could do in Genesis, but we gotta move on to Exodus.
Listen, we'll have the PDF file, we'll get you 500 verses, and
you can check them all out yourself, okay? Brother Jim, why don't
you read Exodus, read one of them in Exodus there. Sure, we
got a couple, I think three, so let's see what we got here.
Exodus 17, 12, but Moses' hands were heavy, and they took a stone
and put and put it under him, and he sat there on. And Aaron
and her stayed up his hands, the one on the one side and the
other on the other side, and his hands were steady until the
going down of the sun. Amen. So what do we have there?
The rising of the sun, the going down of the sun, the movement
of the sun. The sun rises. Picture the son
of righteousness with healing in his way. Amen. That's right.
Amen. If the sun be risen upon him,
there shall be blood shed for him, for he should make full
restitution. That's also there. If the sun
be risen. Why? Because the sun do move.
That's why. The sun do move. That's right.
Brother Jim, how about Leviticus 22, 7? Alright, and when the
sun is down, he shall be clean, and shall afterward eat of the
holy things, because it is his food. Geocentric, sun is down. On the cross, Jesus was unclean
unto his death, having taken our sins upon him. Today we are
baptized into his death, Romans 6, 3. And so cleanse the evening
of his burial, note the time of day, in Matthew 27, 57. Yep, and see also Acts 10, 11.
Amen. So there's a lot. You could study
that on your own. We're just going to give you
an example. The sun rising and the earth not moving. The earth
does not move. The sun moves. OK? Amen. And
we're going to show you that because the Bible says that.
We don't care what anybody else says. We care what the Bible
says. Amen. Science says this. I don't care
what science says. The Bible says this. And there's
500 verses in the Bible. And the Bible is my authority
for faith and practice. The Bible is my authority for
science. Listen, when people say, well,
the Bible is not a science textbook. Yes, it is. It actually proves
all science. And science needs to answer to
the Word of God. That's right. And that's what
we hold to. We believe science answers to
the Word of God. Amen. And if it's not in the
Bible, it's not science. It's not true. Yeah, and many
of the founding Many Christians that were scientists developed
their theories from scripture and then proved their theories
true, just proving that the Bible was true, and they were Christians. There is this notion that's referred
to as scientism. where certain people want to
distort science as some evil, wicked philosophy, when the word
science just simply means what we observe. Yeah, I heard one
guy say that. One flat earther said, oh, I
don't believe in science. I'm a science denier. Really?
Because the Bible uses science? Amen. Biblical science is there. Creationism is science. The Bible
talks about science falsely so-called, so obviously there is science
that is true. Amen. Absolutely. Okay, so let's,
man, I'll tell you what. Oh, here's another one. I will
break the pride of your power and I will make your heaven as
iron and your earth as brass. If the physics on the scale of
the earth, the so-called local physics, were to have slightly
altered values for any or all of the gravitational constant,
the speed of light, or Planck's constant, this could literally
come true as a side effect of the firmament. Figuratively,
of course, the implication is that God will shut up the resources
of heaven, such as rain, in answer to prayer. Interesting, huh? Let's see, how about Numbers
chapter 10, verse number 35. And it came to pass when the
ark set forward that Moses said, rise up, Lord, and let thine
enemies be scattered, and let them that hate thee flee before
thee. What is that? That's a resurrection
theme. For the geocentric import note, that is the word rise when
applied to the sun, is not literal. Then how can one insist that
it is literal in context such as this? See what I mean? Amen. That's right. The sun rises.
Jesus rises. Rise up, Lord. Amen. That's right. Because the sun
moves. It's a picture of the gospel and the Christology. Jesus Christ. Amen and amen. Amen. All right. Let's look at Deuteronomy. Brother
Jim, pick one out of Deuteronomy there. All right. Let's see here. Deuteronomy 16, 6, But at the
place which the Lord thy God shall choose to place his name
in, there thou shalt sacrifice the Passover at even, at the
going down of the sun, at the season that came as forth out
of Egypt. Amen. Very plain and simple there. In Deuteronomy 4.11, you came
near and stood under the mountain, and the mountain burned with
fire into the midst of heavens, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.
This implies geocentricity. But some may argue that this
could refer to the middle layer of the atmosphere. However, this
view runs in trouble when arguing that heaven is the atmosphere
and not all of space. It minimizes the lordship of
God. Amen. Yeah, that's another thing that
Flat Earthers refuse to recognize, that there's three heavens. We
clearly see that. There are three heavens, therefore
there are three firmaments, and there is no position or place
in their model for those three things. They cross-reference
them, and they melt them all together into one thing, which,
once again, distorts the Bible, because they don't delineate
them. Mm-hmm. Amen, and there's so many in
Deuteronomy I mean man, we could go on and on and on with that,
but we got to move on to Joshua Let's move on to Joshua. All
right. Yeah, it's a good stuff in Joshua. Amen, you know Talks
about the the the Sun rising obviously Joshua 10 being the
important one We'll use that one later on we're gonna we may
do a follow-up show and deal with Joshua's long day and Hezekiah
when the Sun went down the dial went down and everything like
that so That'll come another time, because we don't have time
to really get into that. But Joshua 10, verse number 13, and
the sun... Actually, let's go back to verse
number 12. Then spake Joshua to the Lord in the day when the
Lord delivered up the Amorites before the children of Israel.
He said on the side of Israel, Son, stand thou still upon Gibeon,
and thou moon in the valley of Elion. Although this verse is
frequently quoted as geocentric, it is not truly authoritative.
Joshua spake as a man, the voice of a man, and so could speak
phenomenologically. The true geocentric verse is
verse number 13 that explains it explicitly. And the sun stood
still. There you go. and the moon stayed
until the people had avenged themselves upon their enemies.
Is not this written in the book of Jasher? So the sun stood still
in the midst of heaven and hasted not to go down about a whole
day." You know there is actually a
teaching There is actually a teaching that we're going to do that shows
the true history of this, that around the world in different
cultures, and I'm going to bring that to you, they tell you that
there was a long night that they didn't think was ever going to
end. And there was a day when the sun stood still and it lasted
a long time. Yeah. Yep. So we'll share that
with you, though, in another teaching. And it came to pass
at the time of the going down of the sun that Joshua commanded
and they took them down off the tree and cast them into the cave
where they had been hid and laid great stones in the cave's mouth,
which will remain into this very day. So the sun went down, right? Yeah. Okay. And then Joshua chapter
12 talks about again toward the rising of the sun. Yeah. So over
and over again, we see it over and over again, the rising of
the sun. Joshua chapter 10 verse number 13 really nails it though
and shows you. Sun stands still. Yeah. In verse number 12. And
the truth of that is shown that God was with Joshua and he made
the sun to stand still at the word of Joshua. Think about that
for a second. Amen. Amen? What does it also show you? Well,
who's the Son? Jesus Christ. Amen. What does
the Bible say? Be still and know that I am God.
Right? So God made the Son stand still. And as long as the Son was risen
in the sky, as long as it was resurrected and risen in the
sky, there was absolute and 100% victory. Amen. Because the Son of Righteousness
had risen with healing in His wings, right? Amen. Yep, that's
right. And there's victory. There's
healing, there's victory. Amen. So, the Bible explains
over and over again, the book of Judges. Let's look at one
of these, pick one of these, brother Jim, there's so many.
Okay, so let's see. Yeah, so Judges 5.31, So let
all thine enemies perish, O Lord, but let them that love him be
as the sun when he goeth forth in his might. And the land had
rest forty years, so the sun goeth forth in his might. So
that's a picture. So was God just kidding when
he said the sun goes forth? Why do these people keep talking
about the sun going forth, the sun moving and everything else,
the sun rising, the sun setting? Oh, that was just figurative.
No, it's not. Yeah. It's literal. The sun moves. Yeah. So we know that to be literal. Amen. And when judges 99 and
when the man rose up to depart, he and his concubine, his servant,
his father-in-law, the damsel's father said to him, behold, now
the day draw toward evening. I pray you, Terry, all night.
Behold, the day groweth to an end. Lodge here and I in heart
may be merry. And tomorrow you get you early
on your way that thou mayest go home. We talk about what the
day drawing nigh. Judges 19, 14 talks about that
the sun went down upon them. The sun going down, right? The
sun rises, the sun goes down. 1 Samuel. In 1 Samuel, we see
the same thing. I mean, there's so many of them.
We can go on and on and on. 2 Samuel, 1 and 2 Kings. I mean, these verses are everywhere.
Yeah. They talk about the sun rising
and the sun setting. Was God trying to confuse us?
Was he trying to make us not understand that the earth actually
moved? And after 500 years of teaching, finally men, or after
hundreds of years of teaching, finally men would just embrace
heliocentrism because they don't want to be embarrassed by a bunch
of scientists that believe. Why does the Bible say the sun
moves and the earth does not move? And the other thing that
the Bible is clearly saying is that the sun rises and the sun
sets. It does not spin in a circle
above our head. No. And act like a flashlight.
Right, and that's what the flat earth model teaches is that it's
like a... No it doesn't. It says the sun rises and the
sun sets. The sun rises and the sun sets.
The sun rises and the sun sets because the sun moves. Right? Yeah, that's right. Very clear.
Then you have 2 Kings, you have Hezekiah, right? Why don't you
read that 2 Kings chapter 20 verse 9. Okay, and Isaiah said,
This sign shalt thou have of the Lord, that the Lord will
do the thing that he hath spoken. Shall the shadow go forward ten
degrees, or go back ten degrees? And Hezekiah answered, it is
a light thing for the shadow to go down 10 degrees, nay, but
let the shadow return backward 10 degrees. Right. And then verse number
11 says in Isaiah, the prophet cried to the Lord and he brought
the shadow 10 degrees backward, which it had gone down in the
dial of Ahaz. So it went down. The sun was
going down and he brought it back 10 degrees. He let it rise. The sun rose back 10 degrees. And the reason that's a major
thing is, well, if you just waited, the sun would naturally go down
10 more degrees. Right. And start to set, but
instead. No big deal. Yeah, yeah. Make the sun rise 10 degrees.
Yeah, man. Right. Now you think about that
because in history. That is recorded, by the way.
And I'm going to show you that in another, we're going to show
you that in another teaching down the road. But we're going to talk about
those two times and why it's so important. Let me ask you
a question before we move on. But to you that are listening
to this, when it goes online, let me ask you a question. Do
you believe the Bible or do you believe what man says? Even if I looked at something,
right? And it was contrary to the Bible,
I would believe the Bible. We walk by faith and not by sight.
I don't care how many people say heliocentricity is true,
flat earth is true, whatever is true, I care what God's holy
word says. If God's word tells me that the
sun moves, and not the earth, then I believe God's word. Yeah,
but what if a scientist could show you this and this, and I
don't care what they could show me. Strong delusion could be
shown. Strong delusion could be given. You can make a hologram. You could make a lot of things.
You know what they could do? Lying signs and wonders. Yeah, signs and
lying wonders. That's right. So there'll be
signs and lying wonders in the end times. They're going to do
some lying wonders. So what if they show you something where the
earth moves? Yeah. I wouldn't believe it if somebody
showed me ice walls. I would believe what the Bible
says. Amen. I would believe what God's holy
word says before I would believe anything else. Why? Because I believe God. All right? Amen. I believe the word of God that liveth and abideth forever.
Amen. Alright, so David said fear before
him all the earth the world also shall be stable that it be not
moved Geocentric That it be not moved
and David lifted up his eyes and set in first Chronicles 21
16 and David lift up his eyes and saw the angel the Lord stand
between the earth and the heaven having a drawn sword in his hand
stretched over out over Jerusalem and David and the elders of Israel
who were clothed in sackcloth fell upon their faces." Geocentric
because of the implication of immobility between earth and
heaven. Right? Yeah, yeah. We know that
in those days Hezekiah was sickened to death and he prayed unto the
Lord and he spake unto him and he gave him a sign. Hezekiah's
sign was a geocentric sign. Yeah. That's what it was. You
know, if it's important enough to God to put 500 references
in the Scriptures that the Son moves and the Son of Righteousness
is Jesus Christ, you might think that it'd be important for Bible
believers to trust the Word of God and not trust man. I would also think that if there
were 500 references to geocentricity, it would be something important
to study. It surely would be, and it would
be important for them How come geocentricity is not talked about,
but flat earth is completely raping the airwaves and the radio
and the YouTube? Pop culture and rappers. It's popular, but nobody wants
to talk about geocentricity. Yoga instructors. Can I help
you with something? Here's something. Geocentricity
lifts up the son of righteousness, Jesus Christ. Amen. That's right. Flat earth. That flat earth model
and that flat earth talk and that consuming flat earth discussion
lifts up the creature more than the creator who is God blessed
forever. Amen. Amen. Let me ask you something. Does the Bible have more to say
about the flat earth or about geocentricity? Well, the Bible
never says the earth is flat. I'm going to prove that. But
it does say that the sun moves, and the sun rises, and the sun
sets, and the earth is the center of God's creation and of God's
work. So why isn't geocentricity talked
about? Why don't we talk about the Son
of Righteousness rising with healing in His wings? Why isn't
geocentricity talked about more? I'll tell you why, because Satan
hates it. That's why. Because it exalts the name of
the Lord Jesus Christ, and Satan hates the name of Jesus, so he
wants you to concentrate on the shape of the earth, and not on
Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Son of Righteousness, with
healing in His wings. That's why. That's right. Amen. It's true. One doctrine exalts
Jesus and will lead to salvation. The other exalts the creature. Yeah. Amen. And we'll prove that
later. Absolutely. Amen. All right,
so again, I mean, there's more Job, the book of Job. We gotta
get into that, brother. It's everywhere in Job. Go ahead
and start in Job. You go ahead and start wherever you want to
there. Okay, so let's see here. We got Job 9, 6, which shaketh the earth
out of her place, and the pillars thereof tremble. Job 9, 7, which
commandeth the sun, and it riseth not, and sealeth up the stars. There's so many more. How about
Job 2212? Is not God in the height of heaven?
And behold, the height of the stars, how high they are. Look at that. Read Job 2214,
brother. Look at that. Thick clouds are
a covering to him that he seeth not, and he walketh in the circuit
of heaven. So the heavens are moving. Right.
It says heaven has a circuit, not the earth. Amen. See that? Yep. The next one in Job 25.3,
is there any number of his armies? And upon whom doth not his light
arise? His light. Yeah, his light arise
is a double entendre. The sun is geocentric by implication
and is connected with the son of God. Amen, that's right. Job 26.7, read that brother.
He stretches out the north over the empty place and hangeth the
earth upon nothing. He hangeth the earth upon nothing. Where are those pillars at? Yeah,
exactly. We're gonna get into those pillars,
aren't we? Yep. When we get the second half of
this. This first can only be true if the earth is at the dynamic
center of the universe. See Genesis 1-2 that we talked
about earlier. Amen. Amen, amen, and amen. Job 26,
verse number seven, he stretches out the north over the empty
place and hangeth the earth upon nothing. Sorry, you already did
that one, but it's so good I read it twice. Verse number nine, he holdeth
back the face of his throne and spreadeth his cloud upon it.
How about that one? Yeah, amen. Job 28-24, for he
looketh to the ends of the earth and seeth under the whole heaven. In order to be under, there has
to be a center. The earth is in the context,
hence geocentric. Amen. How about that, huh? Yeah. Amen. So many good ones
here. So many good ones. Job 38, 12,
hast thou commanded the morning since thy days and cause the
day spring to know its place. Amen. His place. Excuse me. The
day spring is Jesus Christ and the reference is geocentric.
Right. Yep. Yep. Amen. So many, so many, so many verses.
Oh man, that's a good one. Look at that one. Read, can you
read Job 38.33? 38.33, yep, let's see. It's going to be, knowest thou
the ordinances of heaven? Canst thou set the dominion thereof
in the earth? It's just, The astral bodies
were made for Earth, to give light upon it for the measurement
of time and for seasons. As such, the dominion over the
ordinances of Heaven must be on Earth, the body for which
they were created. This is the reverse of astrology,
which sets the dominion of the Earth to the stars. Indeed, modern
science also sets the stars. The sun in particular to rule
the earth. Geocentricity is how the dominion
of the ordinances heaven is set in the earth. No man can do that. Indeed, it is hard for modern
man to even accept its truth. Amen. Think about that. I'm telling
you, man, that's powerful stuff right there. Amen. Job 41.11,
who hath prevented me that I should repay him? Whatsoever is under
the whole heaven is mine. Under the whole heaven has a
geocentric sense in that it positions the earth at the center. That's
right. Yep. All right. And the Psalms, oh
my goodness, the Psalms are so full. Yeah. All right. To the chief music in Psalm 8,
1 to the chief musician upon Gidath, a Psalm of David. Oh,
Lord, our God, our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all
the earth who has set, who has set thy glory above the heavens. Geocentric, it implies that the
frame of reference is outside the universe, above the heavens,
runs contrary to an infinite universe. It also indicates that
there's multiple heavens, that there's two heavens, and God's
heaven is outside of that. Right. So there's three, just
like there's three firmaments. Amen. Yeah. That's right. Psalm 8, 4, what is man that
thou art mindful of him, and the son of man that thou visitest
him? Mm. Mm. Amen. Psalm 19 5, which is
as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber and rejoices of the
strong man to run a race. The subject is the son. It's
talking about the son as a strong man cometh out of its chamber
and rejoices that the strong man run at the race. Why? Because
the son do move. That's why. Amen. It's moving.
Yeah. Man. Amen. This is not a doctrine
that is not important. It is very important. It is very
important because it proves it's a picture of the gospel of Jesus
Christ. The flat earth is not a picture of the gospel of Jesus
Christ. No, and you can't allegorize these verses and call them Whatever
that long word is. Phenomenological. You cannot
say that it's phenomenological. You have to take them literally,
because if you can't take them literally, then you can't take
any of scripture literally. That's right, in Psalm 46, 2,
therefore will we not fear, though the earth be removed and though
the mountains be carried in the midst of the sea. What is that
saying? It's saying the earth does not move now. Yeah, that's
right. Amen, that's right. Pretty easy,
isn't it? Yeah. Beautiful for situ some 48 to
I love singing this beautiful for situation the joy of the
whole earth is Mount Zion on the sides of the north the city
of the great king, right? Amen. I to the north are also
mentioned in Isaiah 14 13 for geocentric impact We're gonna
look at that verse here in a little while. But but look what it says. It says the sides of the north
are Amen. Directly above Mount Zion. How
about that? Psalm 50, verse 1. The mighty
God, even the Lord, has spoken and called the earth from the
rising of the sun unto the going down thereof. Amen. Amen. Look at Psalm 57, 11. Read that
one, brother. Be thou exalted, O God, above the heavens. Let
thy glory be above all the earth. Implies the glory is centered
on the earth, and thus, by implication, it is geocentric. Amen. Psalm
68, 4, sing unto God, sing praises to his name, extol him that writeth
upon the heavens by his name Yah, and rejoice before him.
This implies that the heavens move. Amen. To him that writeth
upon the heavens of heavens, which by the way, that means
there's more than one. Amen, that's right. That would
be a Flat-earth kill shot, wouldn't it? Yep. I do believe so. Yes
to him that right upon the heaven of heaven heavens of heavens
Which were of old lo he does send out his voice and that a
mighty voice Amen, amen There's so many more. I know we have
added the clouds from above and open the doors of heaven Amen
Here's an here's a big one here his seed also will I make to
endure forever in his throne is the days of heaven. How can
there be days in heaven if earth's rotation marks a day? The verse
says that the procession of days of heaven is eternal. Geocentricity
says the second heaven rotates once every 24 hours with respect
to both the surface of the earth and the third heaven. From that,
it follows that a day, a rotation period of the third heaven is
eternal. Therein lies a problem. However, note that the context
is David's throne, the kingdom of heaven, Thus, the verse to
be understood in an earthbound context where the procession
of days is that produced by the rotation of the second heaven.
By placing the timekeeper, the rotation of the second heaven
between the earth and the third heaven, both can regulate their
days with a common synchronized clock. Amen. Totally and thoroughly
shattering the flat earth model to pieces. Amen. Psalm 93, 1. The Lord reigneth. He is clothed
with majesty. The Lord is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath
girded himself. The world also established that
it cannot be moved. Amen. Psalm 9610, say among the
heathen that the Lord reigneth, the world also shall be established,
that it shall not be moved. He said it again, didn't he?
Yep, he did. Man, read Psalm 99 verse 1. The
Lord reigneth, let the people tremble. He sitteth between the
cherubims, let the earth be moved. The context is judgment. Yep. Yet will I shake Amen. That's right. One day he's going
to shake it all out and shake it all loose. Yup. Amen. But
not now. It doesn't move. That's what
he's talking about. The judgment. Amen. It's going
to come. It's going to move like that. Yup. Right? And there's so many. For he hath
looked down from the height of his sanctuary. From heaven did
the Lord behold the earth. Amen. Amen. who laid, Psalm 104.5,
who laid the foundations of the earth that it should not be removed
forever. Amen. So many, so many, so many. We got to stop. We got to keep
moving, right? Yeah. There's so many. We got to move.
Well, the earth's not moving, but we got to keep moving. That's
right. That's right. All right. Because there is so much here
that we could talk about. There's so many verses. Hundreds
of verses. We're still in the Old Testament.
We got to get, we're going to have to move up, aren't we, brother?
Yeah, you want to move up to the New Testament? Yeah, we're
gonna have to. Actually, I want to stop at Ecclesiastes because
there are a few good ones. Okay. Let's hurry and read some
of those. Okay. Ecclesiastes 1.5. The sun also
ariseth and the sun goeth down and hasteth to his place where
he arose. Think about that. What is he
saying? He's saying he. Yeah. Yeah. Tie solar motion
to the resurrection of Christ. Yep. Amen. He is dealing with
a he. The sun also rises and the sun
goeth down and hasteth to the place where he arose. Amen. How about that? Ecclesiastes
1.13, And I gave my heart to seek and search out by wisdom
concerning all things that are done under heaven. This sore
travail hath God given to the sons of man to be exercised therewith. And then he talks about under
the sun, under the heavens, under the sun, under the heaven, over
and over again. And the key to understanding
Ecclesiastes, by the way, in case you get confused, is he
is talking about everything under the sun. Yeah. Get it? It means on this side,
not on the other side. Yeah. So he's dealing from man's
perspective. under the sun, the sore travail
of men under the sun, right? Then I returned and saw vanity
under the sun, he says. I considered all the living which
walk under the sun with the second child that shall stand up in
his stead. This is a sore evil which I have seen under the sun.
So he says it over and over again, under the sun, under the sun. There's so many. Isaiah 14, 13.
Let's move ahead. Why don't you read that one,
Brother Jim, because that's an important one. Okay, 13. Mm-hmm. Yeah, so we see Satan
saying he's gonna exalt himself above Right. Yeah above the stars of God very
clear very clear passage there You know and in the end times
in the tribulation Isaiah chapter 24 verse number 19 says the earth
is utterly broken down The earth is clean dissolved. The earth
is moved exceedingly. The context is in that tribulation
period. Amen amen when the when the when the when the moon shall
be darkened, and the sun shall not give her light, and the stars
shall fall from heaven. Yep. Isaiah 2420, the earth shall
reel to and fro like a drunkard, and shall be removed like a cottage,
and the transgressions thereof shall be heavy upon it, and it
shall fall and not rise again. Once again, the judgment of God. Yep. Amen. So, I mean, all over
the place. Judgment also, will I lie to
the line? Oh, that's right. I want to move forward to the
plumb line. That's what we're going to move forward to. Oh,
yes. Yep. What's that? Amos, right? Yes. Oh, wait. Yep. Amos. I have it
backwards for some reason. So, you have to click forward
after. Yep. I got it. Okay. Let's cover that one, brother.
Go ahead. Yep. Okay. In Amos 7-7. Thus he showed
me, and behold, the Lord stood upon the wall made by a plumb
line with a plumb line in his hand. If the earth is rotating,
let alone the profusion of other superimposed notions, a plumb
line at the temple viewed from the mercy seat in the third heaven
would seldom, if ever, point to God's throne with New Jerusalem. Such a line, when seen from the
throne, would aimlessly flail about. But in scripture, this
line points to God's throne, thus showing the fixity of the
earth with respect to the third heaven, that God's third heaven
is fixed. We shall have to take at His
Word, for only God the Creator can supply the reference. The
plumb line, in turn, holds the plummet, a lead ball. In Isaiah
28, 17, this plumb line over Jerusalem connects Jesus in verses
9-13 with righteousness on earth. In Amos 7-7, the Lord shows Amos
the plumb line of Isaiah 28 and prophesies that the promised
tribulation, desolation in Amos 7-8 will not again pass by them
anymore. The wall of this verse upon which
stands the Lord must be the temple wall showing the cosmological
heavenly alignment of the place where God puts his name. Zechariah
calls attention to this plumb line when prophesying the rebuilding
of the temple in Zechariah 4.10. and associates the plummet with
the cosmic events of Revelation 1 through the seven candles,
where they shall rejoice and shall see the plummet in the
hand of Zerubbabel with those seven. They are the eyes of the
Lord which run to and fro throughout the whole earth. The plumb line
shows that salvation comes down, as in Psalm 19, to the earth. Note the symbolism of the plummet,
being made of lead, which is considered the basis of metals,
residing closest to the earth, representing man who cannot save
himself, Ephesians 2, 8 and 9. The plumb line points from earth
to heaven, Jesus being the plumb line in our way to heaven. And it also points from heaven
to earth bringing judgment upon Jerusalem as we see in 2 Kings
21-13. Note that the word line in 2
Kings 21-13 and Psalms 19 and many other places is a geocentric
notion in that it is geocentric Whoa, I can't pronounce that
word. They're really rotating heavens that produce the lines.
Yep. Yep. So that's kind of a weird
word. But anyway, basically the plumb
line, what does it prove? Geocentricity. Yep, and it proves
that the third heaven is directly above Jerusalem. Amen. Yep, amen. Amen, absolutely. So that's very
important. Malachi also... And that is why
New Jerusalem, where is New Jerusalem going to come down? Straight
out of heaven. Yep, straight down. Yep. Malachi
4, 2, But unto you that fear my name shall the Son of Righteousness
arise with healing in his wings, and ye shall go forth and grow
up as calves of the stall. What happened? The Son rises,
right? If the Son is not literal, then
how can one insist that it is literal in context such as this?
Note, too, that Christ came to us to arise. We did not go to
Him. See how that works? Yeah, amen. And in the book of
Matthew, it starts out again. The Bible says in Matthew 5,
45, that you may be the children of your father, which is in heaven.
For he maketh his son to rise on the evil and on the good and
sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. This verse is
geocentric because it equates the grace of God with the rising
of the sun. People who make the for he maketh
the sun to rise phrase phenomenological would never do the same to sendeth
the rain. Right. We approach the rain instead
of the rain approaching us. Amen. That's really good. Amen. So, I mean, there's so many in
the New Testament as well. So many more in the Old Testament
that we don't have time to really go through, but let's see. Mark,
and even when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that
were diseased, and them that were possessed of the devil,
sun rising, sun setting. When the sun was up, it was scorched,
because it had no root, it withered away. Sun rising, sun setting.
Now, when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he
appeared the first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast out seven
devils. The verse has geocentric overtones when coupled with Genesis
19.23, which says the sun was risen upon the earth. If the
expression sun was risen in Genesis is not to be taken literally
because science has proven otherwise, then obviously Jesus was risen,
should not be taken literally because science has proven that
resurrection from the dead is even more impossible than geocentricity.
Wow. The general theory of relativity.
Yeah. Amen. Right. Right, which we
do not hold to the theory of relativity. No, no, absolutely
not. So then after the Lord had spoken
unto him, he was received up into heaven and sat on the right
hand of God. Geocentric impact in that he straight up leads
to the third heaven where God's throne is. Amen. Straight up. Amen. All right. We talk about
the day spring in Luke 178. Through the tender mercy of our
God, whereby the day spring from on high hath visited us. The day spring does the visiting.
Thus came he to us. The heliocentric view has us,
the world, turning to the day spring and so honoring Christ
and so does not confess that Jesus Christ came and rose from
the dead. Right? Yeah. What Luke 10, 18, and he
said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven.
He implies the centralness of the earth, unless the atmosphere
is meant by heaven. Yeah. Right? Yeah. How about
this? Luke 16, 17, it is easier for
heaven and earth to pass than one tittle of the law to fail. Jesus attributes greater stability
to the text of the scripture than to the heaven and earth.
If the earth were not stable, there would be little point in
this comparison. Amen. How about that? Yeah, I mean
we could go the Jews because he said I am the bread which
came down from heaven. Yeah. I mean, there's so many. Ah, heaven is my throne and the
earth is my footstool. What house will you build for
me, saith the Lord? Or what is the place of my rest? Romans talks about who shall
ascend into heaven, Romans 10.6. That is to bring Christ down
from above. Right? That ascent is a theocentric
impact. Yeah. So many more. How about this one? Ephesians
4.9. Now that he ascended, what is it but that he also descended
first into the lower parts of the earth? He that descended
is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens that
he might fill all things. Ephesians 4.26. Be angry and
sin not. Let not the sun go down upon
your wrath. Amen. Right? Yeah. So, so many, I mean, man, we
can't read them all, we really can't. But the sun rises, the
sun sets, doesn't say the earth moves. Yeah, amen. It says here,
every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and cometh
down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness,
neither shadow of turning. Amen. Right? Yeah. So anyway, we could go
on and on with those, but I think we made our point. Amen. Yep. You know, I really do think that
we made the point very clear of, you know, the geocentric
model and that the Bible proves geocentricity. The Bible assumes
geocentricity. Yep. That the earth is stable. So no, next time a flat earther
says, Do you, oh, so you believe this is like a ball spinning
with a thousand miles per hour? Nope. Nope. No, we believe the
Bible. Amen. We believe the sun rises
and sets. We don't believe it does what
you say it does. We believe it rises and sets
just like Jesus rose from the dead. Amen. The same way. The next portion, the next section
that we come to is the flat earth. Does the Bible teach a flat earth? Going from geocentricity to now
coming to the point of flat earth, we have to ask ourselves, does
the Bible teach a flat earth? Because if it does, we should
believe it. Amen. People say, well, you know, you,
you teach every, you teach on all kinds of stuff and you teach
against Hollywood, you teach against all these other things.
Why don't you teach flat Earth? Why do you think it's a big deal
if we talk about flat Earth so much? Well, because that's all
you talk about, number one. Secondly, I don't believe flat
Earth is in the Bible. Amen. I don't see the Bible says
the Earth is flat. Amen. It doesn't say that anywhere. So what about these terms and
everything else? Well, I believe Dr. Bo, I believe he proves from
the scriptures, like we're going to prove from the scriptures,
that the earth is a sphere. And I want to point out something
else about Dr. Bo is that the one quote we took
from the biblical astronomer was written in 1992. And if you
just statistically, you know, the flat earthers always say,
well, just research. And by research, they mean Google
something. Because that's the extent of
research nowadays, is you type it into Google and whatever the
most popular thing that comes up, that's obviously the truth
or whatever. But they say, well, research this. Well, Dr. Bo has been a geocentrist for
longer than 98% of flat earthers have even been alive. He has
extensively written on it, far before the geocentric fad, which
you can go under Google word searches and you can see the
hockey stick up in 2015, 2014, 2015, and I realize it's the
secret doctrine of all ages that's being revealed in the last days,
but we clearly see a hockey stick for some reason, even though
that everybody used to hold, I don't wanna start going down
a trail, but we're gonna thoroughly refute this, I believe. Absolutely,
absolutely. So, let's get into this. There
are many people who say the Bible is not a textbook on science.
This saying, common among the Christian intelligentsia, seems
to have originated with Augustine, and is generally quoted to explain
away some sort of apparent conflict between science and the Bible.
Listen, there is no conflict with science and the Bible in
science, because all true science comes from the Bible. Amen. Some sort of apparent conflict,
right? In particular, reconciling evolution with Genesis chapter
1, and the idea that the Bible teaches that the earth is flat.
The saying is subsequently invoked as an excuse for why the Bible
need not be believed or taken literally on that particular
scientific point. However, 2 Timothy 3.16 tells
us that the Bible is authoritative in all that it touches upon,
science included, so one might well question the validity of
Augustine's claim insofar as those areas of science upon which
the Bible does make pronouncements are concerned. Creationists have
recently dealt quite well with the Evolution vs Genesis chapter
1 issue, but there is one area on which the Bible does touch
which has not been well covered, and that is the shape of the
Earth. Most modern scholars claim the
Bible teaches an Earth flat and rectangular in shape which is
placed on 7 pillars which in turn are based on a foundation.
This, scholars claim, is how the ancients thought of the earth
and man, in writing the Bible, merely echoed the scientific
dogmas of the time. Because of that, many have assumed
that the Bible was written by men and not by God, and as a
result, that the Bible is not to be viewed as an authority
in science. But a careful investigation and search of the scriptures
reveals that such a model is not dictated by the wording of
the Bible. On the contrary, the Bible was
already hinting of the sphericity of the earth by referring to
the compass upon the face of the depths in Proverbs 8, 27.
Amen. Some 500 years before the nations
first started to doubt the flatness of the earth. The biblical model
is one which has an earth, basically spherical in shape, with angular
continents and pillars which undergird the world. The pillars
can be shown to correspond to crystalline rock, commonly called
the mantle, and that there is an unspecified number of foundations
to the earth which can range from the roots of mountains,
to the core of the earth, to the very foundation, Jesus Christ
himself. is the purpose behind this article. Some of the arguments presented
are well over 400 years old. Others are presented here for
the first time, but all purport to belie the notion that the
Bible's view of the earth is that maintained by most of this
world's scholars. So what's the historical background,
Brother Jim, of this flat earth theory? The belief in a flat
Earth was widely espoused by the ancients. The Hindus, for
example, cosmology in which the Earth is taken to be a flat disk
placed on the back of an elephant, which in turn is standing on
a giant turtle, which is swimming in a vast cosmic ocean. The Greeks,
until about the 6th century before Christ, believed the earth to
be flat and placed on the shoulders of a giant atlas. Even before
the Greek civilization, the Egyptians widely viewed the earth as flat,
surrounded by mountains, upon which was placed the solid dome
of heaven. The sun, moon, and the planets
traveled along a celestial river in that dome. And this same Egyptian
model is the model that Rob Skiba placates to. And he says that
if you look at Logos software, that's a very expensive Bible
search software. And because of that, that doesn't
mean that it's riddled with heresy. And he said, they clearly show
that this is the ancient Hebrew model of the earth, and he neglects
to remember the fact that Israel was brought into Babylonian captivity,
and that they were also, you know, enslaved to Egypt, which
is where they picked up all their pagan practices. That's right.
So, yeah, that's... Yeah, about the 6th century BC,
some astronomical observations indicated the Earth to be a sphere,
and by the time of the Middle Ages, the scholarly opinion was
for the spherical Earth. Thus, Christopher Columbus did
not encounter opposition for sailing west to the Indies, so
much on the basis of the belief that his ships would sail off
the edge of a flat Earth, as that his estimates for the size
of the spherical Earth were way too small. Scholarly opinion
throughout the Renaissance was divided on the issue of the shape
of the Earth, with adherence of the spherical Earth in the
majority. In 1578, the French academician, the naturalist Lambert
Donneau, in his book, The Wonderful Workmanship of the World, wrote
of the flat Earth controversy as it existed in his day. After
defending the sphericity of the earth on the grounds of scripture,
he turned to a geometrical argument, noting that the geometry of the
geometers, speaking of the higher and lower parts of a sphere,
parallels the biblical references to the higher and lower parts
of the earth. Danao concludes his discussion with this, It
should be pointed out in the above text that Danao's use of
the word receipt means acceptance or recitation Danell was saying that he had
summarized the different positions of his time on the shape of the
earth, and that because of said positions, there was no consensus
in the world. Now, if you talk to flat earthers,
they say, oh, as always, everybody always believed it was flat.
That's not true. If you do an honest historical
depiction or a historical research of it, you find that's not what
people believed. That's not true. There wasn't
a consensus of it. Yep, there was a book written
in, I forget when it was first published. But it's called Inventing
the Flat Earth, Columbus and Modern Historians. And it was
written by Jeffrey Burton Russell. And he talks about this fact.
And the interesting thing to note is because the flat earthers
say, oh, well, where did you learn that you believe everything
you learned in school, that the Earth was a globe and all this
stuff? But where did we learn that Columbus thought the Earth
was flat? We learned that in public school.
From a school book. Yeah, from a public school textbook.
That's right. So don't be a hypocrite. Yeah,
that's right. Right. Don't don't don't be that
way. Okay. All right, then. Okay, so, but
since to now wrote his book, Exploration of the Bible has
revealed even stronger Bible passages than those used by Danao
in support of a spherical earth. So just what does the Bible have
to say about the earth's shape? In order to ascertain the Bible's
teaching on the shape of the earth, we need to look at the
underlying parts of the earth. The Bible speaks of the foundations
of the earth, the pillars of the earth, the corners of the
earth, and the ends of the earth. And these are the things that
flat earthers try to use to discredit a spherical earth. And they clearly
reject, once again, just like with there's three heavens and
there's three firmaments, they clearly ignore the fact that
the word Earth is not always a reference to the same thing.
They always assume that when the Scriptures say Earth, it's
saying the exact same thing, and that allows them to twist
the Scriptures to say they want to, you know, impose their interpretation
on the Scriptures by assuming that the term Earth always means
the same thing, when it clearly does not. Amen. So let's get
into this. We're going to get into the foundations
of the earth and world, okay? The Bible speaks of both the
world and the earth as having foundations. The term world speaks
of the order of man in the earth. Did you catch that? It speaks
of the order of man in the earth. as such references to foundations
and pillars of the world cannot be held as very authoritative
when it comes to speaking about the shape of the earth. Do you
understand that? They're trying to make each one
of those passages deal with the shape of the earth and it does
not fit. Nope. The term earth, on the other
hand, can not only refer to the whole earth, but also to ground,
and as we shall see, land or country. So it is that a complete
picture of the form of the earth in Scripture will not be manifest
until all these things are considered. Of the number of passages which
relate to the foundations of the earth and the world, all
but three speak of the foundations of the earth, and the other three
refer to the foundations of the world. Of these last three, two
are almost identical and they can be found in 2 Samuel 22 verse
16. and the channels of the sea appeared,
the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking
of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils. And
in Psalms 18.15 Then the channels of waters were seen, and the
fountains of the world were discovered at thy rebuke, O LORD, at the
blast of the breath of thy nostrils. Now listen closely, the context
of both passages indicates that the foundations of the world
are now hidden and will be discovered or exposed at the time of the
judgment. The third reference to the foundations
of the world tell us just what these foundations are. In Psalm
24, 1-2, The earth is the Lord's, and the fullness thereof, the
world, and they that dwell therein. For he hath founded it upon the
seas, and established it upon the floods. Since the world is
defined to be that part of the earth that pertains to mankind,
there can be little doubt of the truth of the statement that
the world is founded upon the seas, not built upon rocky foundations
like the foundations of a building. When it comes to the foundations
of the earth, there are many more Bible verses from which
to draw. Many of these references state
that God laid the foundations of the earth, but each verse
adds a little to that simple fact. Psalm 102 verse 25 tells
us that God laid the foundations of old. with Hebrews 1.10 echoing the
thought that God laid the foundations of the earth in the beginning. And Job 38.4 simply states that
God laid the foundations of the earth, but the 6th verse indicates
that the foundations are themselves fastened upon something else. Hebrews 1 3 names this something
else as the Lord Jesus Christ Who upholds all things by the
word of his power go ahead and turn to Hebrews 1 3 brother.
Jim. Can you get there? Amen? Yep verse Okay, Hebrews
1 3 who being the brightness of his
glory and the express image of his person, and upholding all
things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged
our sins, sat down on the right hand of the majesty on high. So he upholds all things. Amen. Right? The foundations are on
Christ. Amen. Not a physical pillar. No. On Christ the solid rock
I stand. Amen. All other ground is sinking
sand, right? Yep. The flat earth model sits
on some pillar, and that pillar sits on, I don't know, it's a
really long pillar that goes to where? Because that pillar,
in order to stand to support the earth, would have to rest
on something, right? And what's that? Yep. That's right. And that's what's
so sickening as you kind of read through this and you're like,
and I'm sure, and I pray that, you know, some flat earthers
listen to this and they're like, wow, well, I never saw those
verses like that because they were viewing them through a paradigm
and oh, we can clearly see here what it means by the term world.
And that is just the subtle hiss of the serpent. Yes, it is. Just
taking the truth and twisting it ever so slightly to fit an
agenda. Yeah, and what God said. Yep. And what's the agenda? The earth,
Christ upholds the earth. No, he doesn't. No, it's these
pillars. Yeah, nope. Oh, no, the sun doesn't
rise. Jesus doesn't rise. It's, you
know, the sun spins around like a flashlight over our head. Nope. Wow. Okay, Proverbs 8.29 tells us
that the earth's foundations were appointed. Proverbs 3.19
indicates that the earth was founded by wisdom, while Jeremiah
31.37 indicates that the foundations are unsearchable. Yep. And Micah 6.2 tells us that they
are strong, so strong that the earth should never be moved.
You see that? Yeah, amen. Given the above references
to the foundations of the earth, there are two things which become
readily apparent. First of all, the foundations
themselves are fastened upon Christ, the sustainer of the
universe. Amen. You wonder what gravity
is and what all these other things are or how all these things work?
Christ upholds it all. Amen. What holds the water on
the ball? The bounds that God has set.
It says God set bounds for the water. So that keeps the water
wherever God wants it. It's not hard. No. First of all, the foundations
themselves are fastened upon Christ, the sustainer of the
universe. Secondly, they are located somewhere under the earth.
Jeremiah 31, 37. When it comes to scientific application,
there is one thing which science can thus far confirm of these
characteristics, discounting obvious characteristics such
as strength, and that is their in-searchability. The key verse
is Jeremiah 31, 37. God's telling you how he did
everything right there. That's right. You don't have
to see it. Amen. You believe it by faith. Amen. Whenever there is an earthquake,
shockwaves are propagated throughout the interior of the earth. But
there is one area which the waves fail to penetrate. That area
is the earth's core, the very central part or foundation of
the earth. Is this not the very thing that the prophet Jeremiah
indicates? Until recently, seismologists assumed that the center of the
earth was composed of molten iron. Scientists now believe
that the core may be rocky. No one knows for certain. Man's
concepts of the outer layers of the Earth's crust has significantly
changed in recent years. How much more so his ideas of
the Earth's interior? And to translate for flat earthers,
you know, if the Earth was flat and there was an earthquake,
the whole deal would shake. But if it's a ball, the crust
can shake and the core can remain stable and in place and unmovable. How do you explain the immovability
of the earth when we have an earthquake? Other than the fact
that flat earthers will say that volcanoes are a governmental
conspiracy. And that is stupid. Yeah. And crazy. And I'll be
honest with you. When I first was introduced to
the flat earth, somebody sent me a video and I started watching
it and it was this God hater, Eric Debay, um, And I'm watching
it, and I'm like, wow, huh, this is really interesting. Hmm, there's
some good points here. And then I get to this part where
all volcanic eruptions are some type of governmental conspiracy,
even though we know that Pompeii erupted. And I'm just like, that
is so inconceivably mentally retarded that anyone would even
consider it and not completely reject it. When, as soon as he
said that, this is so jacked up that I can't even, I'm done.
I'm not going to finish watching this, it's stupid. Right, absolutely.
And that's what they do it for, to make it look, they want to
discredit the whole deal. Right. Absolutely. Now we come to the corners and
the ends of the earth. This is going to be interesting.
If the foundations of the earth seem to be scientifically reasonable,
then what of the four corners of the earth? Isn't that proof
of the Bible teaching that the earth is flat? Recent satellite
results have indicated that the Earth has four bulges, and some
Christian apologists have taken these four bulges to be the four
corners of the Earth, but such is rather far-fetched, especially
considering that the bulges amount to only a few yards above the
mean shape of the Earth. The problem only arises if one
ignores the dictionary definition of the word corner. The Oxford
English Dictionary definition defines corner to mean an extremity
or end of the earth, a region, quarter, a direction or quarter
from which the wind blows. Amen. The word corner comes from
a Latin root word, cornu, which means horn. That this is so,
that this, that this, ugh. that this is so survives in English
via such words as cornet, corn, cornucopia. Hence the four corners
of the earth can be interpreted as referring to the four cardinal
directions, North, South, East, and West. In addition, the four
corners of the earth can also be interpreted as the four horns
of the earth. One obvious example of such a
horn is Cape Horn, the southernmost tip of South America. So the
usage of the phrase four corners of the earth does not signify
a flat rectangular earth. In addition to referring to the
four corners of the earth, the Bible also mentions the ends
of the earth. When it comes to the consideration
of the ends of the earth, the above dictionary definition contains
the resolution within it. Another way of saying the ends
of the earth is to refer to the extremities of the earth. In
this case, as is also the case for the four corners of the earth,
the word earth refers to the landmass, country, or continents
as opposed to the globe. For an example of earth being
used as land or country, compare Exodus chapter 10 verse number
15. It says this, For the locusts covered all the face of the whole
earth, so that the land was darkened, and there remained not any green
thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all
the land of Egypt. With verses 12-14. And the Lord
said unto Moses, Stretch out thy hand over the land of Egypt,
for the locusts, that they may come up upon the land of Egypt,
and eat every herb of the land, even all that the hail hath left. And Moses stretched forth his
rod over the land of Egypt, and the locusts went up over all
the land of Egypt. Now what's this say here? Jim,
go ahead and take it. Since the word earth can be used as synonymous
with land, the ends of the earth thus refer to the points of land
most distanced from some central point. For the Bible, this central
point is the land of Israel. The reader can satisfy himself
by examining a globe that a great circle passing through Jerusalem
and the North and South Poles very nearly cuts the Pacific
Ocean in half and leaves four continental corners or ends,
namely the Chukchi Peninsula of the Soviet Union opposite
the Bering Straits of Alaska, the southern tip of Australia,
and Cape Horn of South America. These four geographical locations,
as much as any other proposal, can account for the four corners
of the Earth. Alternatively, since there was
probably a land link between Serbia and Alaska at the time
the Bible was written, the four corners of the Earth could be
Norway, Newfoundland, Cape Horn, and the Cape of Good Hope. In
the light of such evidence, we cannot claim that the Bible presents
the earth as a four-cornered square. Furthermore, there are
other passages which provide evidence that the Bible teaches
a round earth instead of a flat earth. The most famous of the
Bible verses supporting a round or spherical earth is Isaiah
40, 22, where it says of God that it is he that sitteth upon
the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof that
stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them
out as a tent to dwell in. The fact that this verse speaks
of the circle of the earth can mean one of three things. Number
one, the earth is not a flat square, but a flat circle. If
that is true, then what are the four corners of the earth? A
flat circle has no corners. Number two, the earth is shaped
in a way that is feroidal, but has a square cross section somewhere
at the equator, for example. Or three, the earth is soroidal
in shape. This latter opinion is further
strengthened by the observing the references to the inhabitants
as grasshoppers, implying a perspective from on high, particularly the
outmost heaven. Isaiah 40.22 is not the only
verse in the Bible which speaks of the circle as descriptive
of the shape of the earth. Proverbs 8.27 reads, When he
prepared the heavens, I was there, and we set a compass upon the
face of the depth. The word compass can mean a circular
enclosure or a spherical envelope. Since the verse speaks of an
extended area some three quarters of the surface of the earth,
the spherical enclosure for compass is a better interpretation than
a circular enclosure. Even with Isaiah 40 and verse
number 22 in Proverbs 8, 27, the evidence for the sphericity
of the earth in scripture is still only circumstantial. In
any case, these verses serve to illustrate that a spherical
earth is not necessarily inconsistent with the Bible. But there is
one more passage which is far stronger. Luke chapter 17, verse
number 31 to 36. You got that? Yep. Why don't you read that? Luke 17, 31 to 36. 31 to 36.
Here we go. In that day, he which shall be
upon the housetop and his stuff in the house, let him not come
down to take it away. And he that is in the field,
let him likewise not return back. Remember Lot's wife. Whosoever
shall seek to save his life shall lose it, and whosoever shall
lose his life shall preserve it. I tell you, in that night
there shall be two men in one bed. The one shall be taken,
the other shall be left. Two women shall be grinding together,
the one shall be taken, the other left. Two men shall be in the
field, the one shall be taken, and the other left." Amen. In regard to the shape of the
earth, The point of these verses is this, they speak of day, verse
number 31, and night, verse number 34, as occurring simultaneously. The activities are listed in
context of that global event, the rapture which Paul describes
as occurring in the twinkling of an eye. The simplest explanation
for this simultaneously of daylight and night is if the earth were
spheroidal in shape. Although, one can always postulate
a form of Romanian geometry for light rays which could leave
the earth dark half the time. Likewise, in Acts 1.8, Jesus
gives his commission to his disciples to be witnesses unto the uttermost
part of the earth. Note here that the word part
is singular. A flat earth with four corners
should be indicated by uttermost parts. But a spheroidal Earth
would have only one uttermost part, its opposite side, or antipodes. Antipodes. Antipodes, sorry.
Antipodes. Thus, the Bible does not necessarily
teach that the Earth is flat. Amen. Next, we cover the pillars
of the Earth. The pillars. This is a big one
here. You know, because these guys
like to hang their hat on this one. And it's important that
we understand. So, Brother Jim, why don't you
go ahead and start with that. If the biblical view of the earth
is that of a spheroidal earth, what happens of the pillars of
the earth, which are mentioned in three passages? The first
of these three is the prayer of Hannah, which can be found
in 1 Samuel 2, starting at verse 8. He raises up the poor out
of the dust and lifts up the beggar from the dunghill to set
them among princes and to make them inherit the throne of glory.
For the pillars of the earth are the Lord's, and He has set
the world upon them. Obviously this verse indicates
that the earth is pillars and that the world that which pertains
to man is set upon them, not having any pillars of its own.
Note that this verse does not require that the earth be placed
on pillars, only that the world is placed thereon. We shall find
this view to be consistent with the other two scripture passages
also. It does not appear to be the case, as historians Santalena
and von Decken recently argued in their book Hamlet's Mill,
that the pillars of the earth are the two solstices and two
equinoxes. The solstices are the highest
and lowest points at which the sun appears in the sky, beginning
at the first day of summer and winter, respectively. The equinoxes
correspond to the times when the sun crosses the equator and
correspond to the first days of autumn and spring. Finally,
there is one more Bible passage to consider before concluding
this study on the biblical teaching of the shape of the earth. Job
26.7 will modify any preconceived notions we may have about the
pillars of the earth. It reads, he stretched out the
north over the empty place and hangeth the earth upon nothing. There you go. A flat earth upon
pillars and foundations hanging upon nothing is very difficult
to imagine since one usually imagines the foundation to be
the primary support for any structure. But here we note that according
to this verse, in addition to the pillars and foundations underneath,
the earth also hangs upon nothing. The pillars are under pressure,
that they support the surface of the earth where the world
is. is clear from Hannah's song. We have already noted that the
Earth to be spheroidal in shape, and so the Earth's pillars must
be located between the Earth's surface and the core. In particular,
the pillars of the Earth could simply be vertically oriented
crystalline rock. It is widely believed that there
is such a shell of crystalline rock inside the Earth. This shell
is generally called the mantle of the Earth. Occasionally, these
crystalline forms form above the surface of the Earth. In
every case, they are oriented vertically. There are at least
two examples of such rock in the continental United States.
Pinnacles National Monument in California, which is not really
crystalline in nature, and the other more graphic example is
found in Devil's Tower National Monument, Wyoming. Thus, we conclude
that Job 26-7 would appear to support a spherical Earth. In summary, the Bible teaches
that the Earth is basically a sphere in shape, that there are pillars
which undergird the world and which we conclude to be the crystalline
rock corresponding to what we commonly call the mantle, that
there are an unspecified number of foundations which range in
size all the way from the foundations of the hills and mountains called
roots in modern science to the unsearchable core of the earth
and to the very foundation, which is the Lord Jesus Christ himself. Amen. The Bible talks about that. The Bible talks about in Colossians
chapter one. Let's turn there. Okay. Colossians chapter one. Hang
on one second. Let me get there. Let's see. It says in verse number
15, who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature.
For by him were all things created that are in heaven and that are
in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones or dominions
or principalities or powers. All things were created by him
and for him. And he is before all things.
And by him, all things consist. Amen. That's another proof verse
that He holds up everything. By Him, you say, I can't explain
all these other things, you know, gravity, all these other things.
Well, you know what? Christ holds everything up. Amen. That's how. I can explain it.
Amen. This is the view of the earth
which the Bible presents, not the view of a flat earth on pillars
which are, in turn, placed on a foundation. Bible critics are
thus shown to be wrong in their view of what the Bible teaches
on the matter of the shape of the earth. Also made manifest
is their inability or else lack of desire to study firsthand
and in detail the teachings of the Bible on this matter in particular,
and by implication, any biblical matter. Knowing much about the
Bible, they know little of the Bible. And we are so justified
in viewing with due skepticism any man who uncritically prefixes
his remarks with, the Bible is not a textbook on science. Amen. You know, these terms that the
Flat Earthers use have just been defined by the Bible to show
you what they are, and geocentricity completely destroys the Flat
Earth fable. Amen. And it also destroys the
heliocentric evolutionary model. Amen. And Christ rises above
it all as the Son of Righteousness with healing in His wings. Do
you understand? Geocentricity is the truth. That's what the Bible teaches.
The Bible doesn't teach a flat Earth. It doesn't even imply
a flat Earth. Nope. And it's very clear. But you
know the most important thing about this whole thing that I
want you to understand, and I believe we've thoroughly refuted the
Flat Earth model with geocentricity. I absolutely believe that. But
let me say this to you. Geocentricity is all over the
Bible. Christ rising with healing in
his wings. Christ, the Son of God, the sun rising. That's the
picture of the death, the burial, and the resurrection of Jesus
Christ. Now, witchcraft tried to mock that, right? All these
things by the elements and all these other things tried to mock
that. But let me tell you something, friend. If you're listening to
this and you've held to a flat earth or anything else, and you're
not saved, the shape of the earth won't save you. But if you look
in the Bible and you see that Jesus Christ is the Son of God,
and everything is upheld by His power. Jesus Christ died on the
cross for your sins, and He was buried, and He rose again the
third day. And Jesus Christ is coming back
again with great power and glory. Amen. And friend, you're a sinner
and guilty before God, and you need Jesus Christ to forgive
your sins and to cleanse you of your unrighteousness. The
Bible says, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of
God, and for the wages of sin is death. More importantly than
the shape of the earth and anything else is your soul saved. If you were to die tonight, would
your sins be forgiven you? That's the most important thing
I can tell you is that Jesus will save you from your sin.
His name means He shall save His people from their sins. The
Bible says, repent ye therefore and be converted that your sins
may be blotted out. I'm concerned for your soul more
than anything. Whatever the shape of the earth
or any of those other things. We preached unto you Jesus Christ,
and him crucified, buried, and risen again the third day. And
we preached that to you, and we preached the name of Jesus,
because there is none of the name given among heaven whereby
we must be saved. There's no other name. But the
name of Jesus, that at the name of Jesus, every knee should bow
and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to
the glory of God the Father. The Bible says, he that hath
the Son hath life. He that hath not the Son shall not see life,
but the wrath of God abideth on him. Listen, Jesus has power
on earth. to save man and to forgive sins. If you'll put your faith and
trust in Jesus Christ alone, in the death, the burial, the
resurrection of Jesus, you can be saved. You can be forgiven
of your sins and cleansed of your unrighteousness. And whatever
shape you believe the earth is, isn't going to take you to heaven,
isn't going to forgive your sins. Only Jesus can forgive your sins.
Only Jesus can give you a home in heaven. Only Jesus can make
you free. If the Son of Man shall make
you free, you shall be free indeed. And that's our heart's desire
for you. That's our ministry's desire. That's why we do things.
That's why we do videos. We want you to be saved. We want
you to be forgiven of your sins and cleansed of your unrighteousness.
So if you are out there and you listen to this and you've listened
all the way through, and it's a lot to listen to, if you've
listened all the way through to this point and you're not
saved, my friend, we beg you in Christ's name, be you reconciled
unto God. We beg you that you would go
to Christ Receive forgiveness of sins because you are guilty
before God you have broken God's righteous law You have and God
says that the law is preached that every mouth may be stopped
and that all the world may become guilty before God and you are
guilty man, and this God that upholds all things by the word
of his power is Going to judge you one day and the Bible says
in the books were opened and and those whose names were not
found written in the Lamb's book of life were cast into the lake
of fire for all of eternity. The Bible says, but the fearful,
the unbelieving, the abominable, the murderers, the whoremongers,
the sorcerers, the idolaters, and all liars shall have their
part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which
is the second death. You're gonna die one day, for
as appointed a man wants to die, and after this, the judgment.
My friend, are you ready to meet your maker? The Bible says that
the judge of all the earth shall do right. And he will judge you
for your sins. But Jesus Christ came that you
might have life and that you might have it more abundantly.
If you'll repent and put your faith and trust in him, he'll
forgive your sins, cleanse you, make you a new creature, and
you'll serve him and live for him, and you'll live with him
for all of eternity, and death will have no hold on you. but
Christ will save you from your sins. I hope and trust that you'll
repent and put your faith and trust in Jesus. Brother Jim,
I don't know if you have anything to add about this, but I think
it's been pretty clear. Yeah, I guess what we could do
is just would want to point you to some resources, geocentricity.com,
and Dr. Bell has a great book called
Christianity in the Woodshed. Yep, right there. Oh, it's backwards,
sorry. You can order it right there
at geocentricity.com and there's just a lot of great resources
there. You can also see some of his
videos on YouTube, but I hope this has helped some people.
We did our best to do it humbly and unfortunately
it's a little out of character for both of us not to be goofing
off and joking around and I hope we didn't bore you to death but
I think we thoroughly covered the topic. You know we wanted
to be sober with it we wanted to be extremely sober with it
to try to help you and and to try it so it could not be used
anything else could not be used of people that are easily offended
so yeah amen you know that that's the purpose of it and we pray
that it accomplishes that goal and you know we also pray that
somebody would get saved amen amen through that so uh for brother
jim it's pastor jason cooley for opbc online a ministry of
