Take your Bibles tonight, go to Ezekiel. The Lord gave me this when I first was called to preach. And I haven't preached it in years, but the Lord's clearly impressed upon me tonight to go back to where I started. First message I ever preached. once I surrender to go full-time, was this thought, this verse. It is my stump speech. I've written about it, spoke about it, preached about it. There's three reasons in this chapter why religious people will go to hell. Three distinct reasons. One, preachers without a message. Secondly, Promises with no power. Thirdly, professions with no fruit. Everybody promises something in religion. I've written about it, spoke about it, preached about it many times. To the Buddhists, they have nirvana. It's a place you go when you die, and everything's just kind of rosy, and peachy, and happy. And they call it Nirvana. It'd be equated to heaven. In fact, the liberal and the fool today would call it heaven. The Muslims believe in, A, heaven, but of course, it's all man-centered, and perverse, and filthy, and wicked. You wouldn't want to go there anyway, because you'd be consumed in your own lusts. Every major Christian denomination has a place they call heaven. I heard a man preach quite a few years ago. I was in a very large church, just visiting family. And down south, and he preached on heaven, because his wife had tragically been killed in a car accident, and he preached on heaven. And by the time he was done, I didn't want to go to the heaven he preached about, because it was all flesh. Absolutely carnal. I've listened to funerals as people talk about this place called heaven and just foolishness comes out of the mouth of clergymen and clergywomen speaking of heaven. You know, you take your little doggie with you and you walk your doggie on the streets of gold and you know, just absolute drivel and foolishness and wickedness. And they promised people all this ethereal bliss based on one thing and it's what you do. As long as you have done something, As long as you have done what you were supposed to do. And that equates to every major religion in the world. As long as you do what they tell you. And that's why people hate religion today. Because they've tried what religion has told them to do. And there's no change. There's no evidence of change. There's no joy. There's no peace. And they despise religion. They say, I've tried that. The lady in the streets today that prayed the sinner's prayer. She asked if we would lead her in a sinner's prayer. And the man I was with, I said, do what she wants, whatever. He led her in a sinless prayer. She got done. She said, I always feel so good when I pray that prayer. We heard a testimony Sunday. Young lady said that she'd pray the prayer again, just hoping. Pray the prayer again, just hoping. Why? Because we've been told to pray the prayer. What has it wrought in your life? Look at verse 22, our stump speech, the ministry we have that is based on this verse, because with lies, you've made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad. He said, it strengthened the hands of the wicked. They should not return from his wicked way by promising him life. Well, that's really sad. Folks should have known. Yes, sir. Chapter 13 of Ezekiel. I can't believe you all didn't know that. In verse 22. That's good. I'm glad. That's good. So turn to your tablet or your iPhone, the Ezekiel 13. He said, with lies, you made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad, but have strengthened the hand of the wicked. How many people do you know tonight that need to be here, but they say, no, I'm saved. That's just not for me. What has strengthened their hand? Somebody promised them life. Somebody told them they're saved. And somebody said, you do this and you can live forever. It doesn't matter what the outcome is for the more, for the skull. And so we have the young men were the more extensively all these years in the prisons. And he said, everybody in prisons prayed a prayer. They're all saved. They all go back to cry when they get out, but they're all saved. Why? Because someone's promised them life. So it is in church. The church that my wife and I are now members of, as far as I know, you all heard anything else? Okay. I think we're still members down there. Before we were ever members of the church, I remember coming out of a meeting one time and, and I talked to who is now my pastor. And I said, brother, I said, I said, why do they despise my preaching so much? This is what he told me. He said, you're the second person in 25 years that's come in this church and preached on lost church members. And I said, who was the first? He said, me. And I said, did you get the same reaction? He said, oh, yeah. Without fail, you preach on lost church members. Listen, somebody will confront you. Somebody will come tell you. Somebody, a pastor will come get in your face. A pastor's wife will come get in your face. Who do you think you are telling us that? Who do you think you are? These people are saved. They're just as saved as you and I are. But you realize the evidence of salvation is not in what you say you are. The evidence of salvation is who Jesus Christ is. And that's the lie. That's the deceit. Just tell people you're saved. So let's look at this chapter in context. The word of the Lord came unto me saying, that's chapter 13. The son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy and say unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts. And this is what they say out of their own hearts. Hear ye the word of the Lord. You realize the love of money is the root of all evil. Every false religion is because of money. That love of money. He's the root of all evil. You realize that every church outside of those that have held truth, their motive is money. There are many that hold truth that have gone away to money. Financial gain, financial profit. Why? Because money is the root of all evil. That love of money is the root of all evil. and religion can make big money. You go graduate Gettysburg Seminary, the Lutheran Seminary, starting salary is I think about $85,000 to $87,000 a year. You can go to the Synod, work your way up, get a pension, be a Lutheran minister who only works an hour a week, plays golf the rest of the week, joins all the clubs, joins all the local events, There's big money in religion and there's big money in telling people what they want to hear. If you don't believe me, go check out the positions for a psychologist, psychiatrist, counselor, telling people what they want to hear. You're good enough. God loves you. Don't change anything about yourself. Come as you are, leave as you came. We're not here to judge you. We're here because God just loves you. That's the theme of religion, is it not? But what about the truth? They say this is what the word of the Lord says. I watched just for my own boredom. I'd watched a clip on Alistair Begg recently. Don't look him up. Don't listen to him. He's a Bible corrector, Bible denier, one of the staunch Calvinists. He's part of the reform movement that swept across America where he was. He's now answered to God for his reformed theology and correcting the Bible, changing the Bible, but explained one time the difference between Armenian and a Calvinist. And when he got done, I was more confused than I've ever been because he didn't answer anything. All he did was dodge everything and make people feel good about themselves, make the Armenians feel good about themselves while slightly correcting them and explain to why reformed theology, which we call Calvinism today, is the right way because God's elect have been chosen. And because God's elect have been chosen, they cannot escape the elect. And he goes on. And then this is what he says as he continues on. He says, but you know, we're not here to debate these things. He said, I love men on the side of Arminianism. I love men on the side of Calvinism. And I thought, man, I love men that buy my books. I love men that spend money on me. I love men that pay $100 to come to my conferences. I love money. We're not here to mix words and cross swords. We're not here to grind that. I've been in meetings. I got in the pulpit, and they said that to start the meeting. What they mean is don't come in here and rock the boat. We're just here to try to help people. But do you know truth will help you more than anything else? And if you're wrong, somebody telling you the truth is going to help you more than us getting up here and coddling you and scratching you behind the ears and tickling you under your chin and telling you what you want to hear. And if God gives a message, it may correct you and it may keep your soul from hell. The prophets were prophesying. This is what the Lord said. And they didn't have a message from God. They were filling their own bellies. They were Hofna and Phinehas all over again. They're sitting there, they're filling their bellies with the good things that come into them and they're sought after. The accolades pour in. I imagine if they had meetings today, they'd have 1500 people show up, but they never told people the truth. all across this area, all across the world. I call them these pop-up churches. And somebody says, you know what? We're going to go against the grain. We're going to have a church and we're not going to judge people. We're not going to judge how they dress. We're not going to judge how they look and what they really mean. We're just going to tell people what they want to hear. And everybody's going to be comfortable. It doesn't matter if you're an atheist, doesn't matter if you're a Christ denier, we're going to make you comfortable in your sin and tell you what you want to hear. And it's big business today. And God's nowhere near it. Because Jesus Christ is the way, the truth, and the life. The prophets sign without a message. They're preaching with no power. They call it preaching, and let me just rest assured this, and I want to be real plain about this. You don't have to be loud like me. You don't have to be. But God puts a fire in a man's belly when he truly calls him to preach the Word of God. And if that man will get full of the Holy Ghost, there's a time he's going to get stirred, he's going to get emotional, he's going to get angry, he's going to be sad, he's going to weep, he's going to shout, he's going to rejoice. You say, well, I'm not like that. God will put a fire in a man's belly that's called to preach. He put a fire in the prophet's belly, every one of them. And there weren't a bunch of limp wrist, lisping little sissies going around saying, well, this is what God said. But a crowd about drive me crazy sometimes. They'll say, well, I'm a member of the clergy. I say, well, I'm a God called preacher. Amen. Amen. Never did join up with the clergy, but God called me. I use my man voice often. Get her out of the clergy. I use my man voice just to bother them. They don't want to offend people. They don't want to hurt people's feelings. The reason I was told I was 80 grit sandpaper. I told you I was insulted by that. I thought for sure is way lower than that. And finally we got done the meeting, the preacher got the public acknowledged. He said, you know, he goes, I probably need to have more grit in my sand. I said from the back row, amen. Yes, you do. People comfortable in their sin, comfortable in their iniquity, comfortable in living ungodly and wicked, and there's no one to stop them and tell them they're wrong. The greatest thing that ever happened to you is somebody tell you, you're wrong. When the Holy Ghost steps in and says, you're wrong, he'll give you opportunity to make it right. You guys, I've been wrong since I've been saved. I've been wrong since I've been in the ministry. I've been wrong since I've been in evangelism. Well, that's a hard thing to understand, isn't it? I've probably been wrong since I've been here. You use as many words in a week as I do. You're going to say something wrong. Amen. I got a wife to correct me most of the time, but she can't correct me when I'm stuffing the pulpit. It'd be nonstop. When did God correct you? When did God step in to correct your ways? When did God step in to correct your life? When did God step in to correct the manner of life that he's laid out before? When has God stepped in and ever corrected you or challenged you about the way you live your life? I know people have never, never been stirred for God. Never. They sit there dead in church, dead in religions, dead in trespasses and sins. They love the form of religion. They love the form of godliness. And they're absolutely spiritually, there's no response. There's no stirring. They do not read their Bible. They do not pray. And listen to me, if you do not read your Bible and you do not pray, quit telling people you're saved. Just quit telling people. You say, how do you know I'm not saved? I didn't say that. I said, just quit telling people you're saved. Quit calling yourself a Christian. You don't spend time with God, don't tell people you're a Christian. I don't care who you are. Most clergy don't spend time with God. Most preachers don't read their Bible and pray. Most church members don't read their Bible and pray. Well, we just love the Lord. No, you love yourself. Too lazy to get out of bed, too lazy to spend time with God. You'd rather watch television than you would read your Bible. Don't call yourself a Christian. Don't tell people that you love God. We're doing okay. I said, somebody needs to correct you. Somebody needs to tell you what's right. Somebody needs to have all integrity to tell you what's wrong with you. And if you don't spend time with God, there's something wrong. Well, that's just your opinion. They prophesied without a message. They were telling you what they wanted to hear, saying, thus saith the Lord. Look at the next verse. Thus saith the Lord God, woe unto the foolish prophets that follow their own spirit and have seen nothing. You young preachers, you ever follow your own spirit? Just sit down and shut up. Because your spirit will tell you things you need to say and things you need to preach, things you need to do. And you know what? It's 100% you. You all say, you shouldn't talk like that. They're young preachers. They'd better start handling it now. They're going to fall apart in a couple of years. If you all weren't here, you don't even want to know what I tell them. Amen. I told him before, you get to go around cheating on the Lord, start looking at that filth again, get out of the pulpit, sit down and keep your mouth shut for about six months. Living a godless generation, we live in a godless day. We live there when preachers are in the pulpits, filthy and unclean and wicked and vile, adulterers and fornicators and pornographers. And they stand and they have no message from God and they have not heard nothing from God. And yet the world flocks to that kind of preaching. They love it. It makes me feel good. I feel so good. It's that little euphoria when you leave church and it just feels so good. We just danced and praised and man, we went home and I just feel so good about that and go watch the super bowl and get drunk, fill their bellies with filth, wickedness and godlessness. Is that you? Or do you actually know him? This is the only way you know him. And if you don't read this, you don't know him, because he's found in here. Otherwise, you just have an ideal or an opinion or a thought. He is that little curly haired guy in the photograph on your wall. I guess it wouldn't be a photograph, technically. Maybe some have one, I don't know. I heard recently, you know, the fair-haired, long-haired brown Jesus that everybody has pictures of, you know, he was painted in the 1950s. And somebody recently discovered the Salvation Army had the two original paintings for that. One was chalk, one was acrylic. And they accidentally put him on the floor of a Salvation Army thrift store in Arizona, excuse me, New Mexico. And a man came in, realized what they were, realized, thought they were authentic, and paid him like $150 a piece for them, got it for $300. And the Salvation Army pitched a fit that they weren't for sale. And he went, oh, well. And he's supposed to go for auction sometime in the next couple of months. They're estimating $300,000 for those original paintings. Been mass produced. Everybody's got a picture of Jesus on their wall. And the sad thing is, most people that have that picture of Jesus on their wall, that's all they have. That's it. That's it. Come on, sir. They have a picture. They have a photo. I knew a church that had an original too, but it wasn't that guy. But I don't know if they ever sold it, auctioned it off. I don't know what happened to that thing. I probably don't want to know what happened. It might cause some problems. It's amazing. Folks get saved. Things just change. I've got a pastor friend of mine. He took over a church. There's 27 different pictures of Jesus in the church. He said, brother, how do I get rid of him? I said, remodeling project. He started painting all the walls in the church. Don't be offended by that. The problem with it, listen, I don't care if you have a picture of Jesus in your, I don't give you a little bobblehead Jesus on your dashboard, don't bother me one bit. But if that's all you got, you don't have anything. I remember at a meeting one time, a man got up and he was testified, he was Tested Baloney, and he's going on about these picture Bibles and how wicked they are, and that's not really Jesus, and that's not, and he's just going on about that, so I just got up and testified behind him. I said, you know, when I was a little boy, I said I had one of the picture Bibles, children's Bibles, and this had a picture of Mary Magdalene in it, and I said she was beautiful, and I loved her, and I sat down. I've changed a lot since I've matured a lot. Is that all you have? You have a certificate that says you got baptized? You got a little framed membership certificate? Somebody needs to tell you the truth. Why is there no peace? Why is there no rest? I thought it was a tremendous testimony. Sunday night, Ms. Sabrina talked about living in doubt all those years. Living in doubt, living in doubt, living in doubt. Samantha talked about just the doubts, the doubts come. She said of her sister, she never doubted. And I said, that's a lot of people. They've never one time doubted because they've never considered it. They've never thought about it. So as I look at this tonight, I really got one message. This is just kind of a warm-up. I'm talking about these liars. They've seen vanity in verse six, lie and divination, saying the Lord saith, the Lord hath not sent them. And they've made others to hope that they would confirm the word. So what do they do? They get other men to come in and tell you what you want to hear. They want to make you feel good. They want to make you feel better. They, listen, we had people come in our church where we were previously members, where I met my wife and I remember a man came in one time and he said, boy, just looking around here, I'm just going to assume everybody hearsay. I think I might've laughed out loud. I said, I go to church with these people. I know how they live. Just because the ladies have long dresses, and their makeup's done right, and their clothes are right, and everything looks good, and the men all have smiles, and they're all carrying Bibles high up under their eyes, has nothing to do with salvation. It's a faithless and a perverse generation. Discord's owing. Backbiting. Paddling. It's the day we live in. But everybody loves God. Everybody loves Jesus. Everybody loves the ceremony and the pomp of church. Those of you that know me, it's been one of the affronts to my ministry all these years. And I'll just say it real plain, be honest, I got kicked out of the choir loft the other day. I went outside in the choir, I was supposed to preach, I go outside in the choir, luckily I do sometimes, I just sit up there and pray, watch people, ask the Lord to just speak to them, start to pray, watch over many of you tonight, pray it over you, pray God would help you. Pastor came up, he goes, you can't sit up here. I said, why not? And he made some lame excuse, told my wife, I just got kicked out of the choir loft. You know, because it wasn't in their program. Wasn't part of what they do. It wasn't on the schedule. That's ridiculous. I'm saying that real plain. This is ridiculous. We got all this pomp and all this ceremony. Everybody just loves the organization of religion. But if there's no power, it's void. You know why most people go to the pop-up churches? Cause you sing for 40 minutes, preach for 15. And you're out of there usually by the top of the hour, go get something to eat at lunch. And I've had people tell me, you sure preach a long time. Well, you know, that's never bothered me one bit. Look at your watch. It's just like going, come on brother Tim preach. I see young people around looking at the clock. I go, man, thank God. It makes me want to preach. Why are you in a hurry to get out? Why are you in a hurry to get out? I'll tell you why is that discomfort that God has done inside of you where you're just so uncomfortable you want to leave. And that's God doing that. We don't acknowledge that. You can throw stones at me. You can curse me, mock me, scoff at me. But you better reconcile these words with God, because you're not going to throw stones at him. You're not going to scoff at him. You're not going to mock him. He said, they're preaching without a message. They have words. They're saying absolutely no power and the people love it. So, and the people have received it and everybody just sits here in a stupor and this thing called religion and they love it to be that way. Here's the message tonight. Verse 10, because even because they have seduced my people saying peace, and there was no peace. And one built up a wall and no others dobbed it with untempered mortar, saying to them which dobbed it with untempered mortar that it shall fall. This will be an overflowing shower. Oh, you great hailstone shall fall in a stormy wind shall rend it. Lo, when the wall is fallen, shall it not be said unto you, where is the daubing? Wherewith you have daubed it. Years ago, I was down in Amory, Mississippi, and I met a man by the name of Brother Rick Rose. Many of you know Brother Rose. He preached on whitewashing preachers. He went through these three places in the book of Ezekiel with untempered mortar. What does that mean? It's just whitewash. There's no strength to it. When it's a finished product, it adds no strength to what is being built. And he said, one built a wall, another came along and he daubed it with untempered mortar. Ms. Gracie, I acknowledge you. I thought about you when I prayed over this message today, and I thought, well, Grace has already heard this. I thought, well, it'll do her good to hear it again. Amen. Well, God first pricked her heart dealing with that matter of the untempered mortar. Mom and dad could put a brick in that wall. Oh, what a fine Christian boy, what a fine Christian girl. They said the prayer in Sunday school. They said the prayer when they were a little baby. said the prior and there were three, four or five years old, they do what they were supposed to do. And mom and dad will make sure that brick stays in that wall. Less they bear the shame of one of their children being lost. And I watched them looking at their son through plexiglass, making sure nobody uncovers that brick they put in the wall. I've looked at parents, their children living wickedly and godless and wretched in this world, but they're going to make sure they protect that wall they built around their children. Make sure nobody can get in there and tell those children how screwed up they are and how messed up their minds are and how they're thinking is nowhere near God's thinking. And I don't care if you're 13 or 14, 15 years old, when you go through teen rebellion, it is out of hell. I'm tired of parents building that brick on that wall. Well, they're just teenagers. No, they're just lost. They're just like lost adults. They don't have enough character to hide some of the things that teenagers expose. Well, they're just being children. That's not a good thing. Not when it comes to wickedness. I mean, everybody tries cigarettes, right? Not everybody. That's probably 30 young people in this church. Probably about half of them have tried, half of them haven't. Amen. Well, most of them have tried. No, not all of them. Listen, I asked my nieces, a couple of them are here tonight. I asked them one time, I said, you all sneak around and listen to wicked music, country music, or anything. They're all like, no, we didn't do that. And I said, what kind of wickedness were you involved in? They never did tell me. Amen. Thank God for both, yeah. Wait a minute, you say country music's wicked? No, it's edifying. It'll strengthen you in the inward man. You know, I used to listen to Conway Twitty reading my Bible, man. It was such a great experience for me. I saw in the news the state of Arkansas is going to take their statue out of the Capitol. Every state gets two. They're going to remove one of their statues and put Johnny Cash in the US Capitol. I thought, boy, that's going to add some strength to the US Capitol. It's funny, all these rednecks are against rap music and R&B and all that, but then they go and listen to George Jones and Tammy Wynott and all that junk and act like it's edifying to the soul. Listen to them drinking whiskey and cheating on their spouse. I remember back masking. You all remember that? They played that rock and roll backwards. And there'd be subtle messages hidden in it. I remember one time I got a Merle Haggard record. I listened to it backward. His wife came back. His dog came back. He quit drinking. You all figure it out later. People say, well, you know, that's just a phase they're going through. It is a phase they're going through. It's a phase they've been going through since they were children. It's called rebellion against God. What child could set light by his parents and not grieve God? when God forbid it. You know what that means? That what you get with the other children. You talk about how dumb your parents are and how they made all these mistakes and you just sat and liked by them. God's forbid it. What child can raise his hand against his father, his mother, not deserve death according to the scriptures? Not one. What about honoring your father and mother? You know how smart you young people are? You think you know more than your parents, think you know more than the pastor, think you know more than almost everybody. And we're old enough now, we can't do the things you do physically, because we're just broke down and weak. And we sit there and laugh at all the things you think you know. And we make fun of you behind your back. And listen, we scoff at you, go, you don't know anything. And you know, that never changes. My mom probably still does it to me. I know my grandma has to. He doesn't know anything. He's only 52 years old. What does he know? Last year, my grandma was twice my age. Warren Harding was president when she was born. Put that in perspective. She's seen a lot of things in this world, but I'm smarter than her. She got saved in 1952. But I'm smarter than her. I know more than her. But preachers, you don't understand. I prayed the prayer. But what good did it do you? What made the difference in your life? What has a profession ever done for you? People say, well, doesn't the Bible tell you to hold on to that profession of your faith? Well, it's not what you've done anyway. The profession of my faith is what he's done. I profess what he did for me. You know, I'm a prophet to myself. It's like the Christian, I'm a benefit to God. God needs me. It's just the mercy of God we're not consumed. It's the mercy of God you're not consumed. And others come in, they put untempered mortar. That wall is being built up. And others come, they dob with untempered. An ant comes. Oh, you're such a good boy. You're such a good Christian boy. I won't tell your mom I saw you smoking cigarettes, because I know you're saved. OK. Dob some untempered water on that wall. And then another creature comes and tells you how good you are. Makes you feel good about yourself. Puts another brick on that wall. Somebody dobs some untempered water. It's all whitewash. It looks wonderful. Yeah. But there's no strength to it. Yeah. Right. None. And one of these days, when that wall falls in, you're gonna find out it was all just a show. The greatest soul winner I ever knew was an adulteress. She got an inheritance, $250,000 I believe it was. She was pastor's wife. She knew what she did with the money, she left her husband. She was a great soul winner. Dozens of professions every Tuesday night. Go down, she'd pray with these girls at the altar that always pray. She'd talk about all the people she saw. She'd go to the nursing home, have nine professions of faith. Greatest soul winner I ever knew. You really do believe that, don't you? She had professions. Hundreds, probably thousands. She was a wicked woman. There's a lot of clergy, great soul winners, that are wicked people. I hear talk about Leading so-and-so to the Lord in the airport. Leading this guy, they all make these celebrities and they put snapshots on the internet. We led this guy to the Lord. I witnessed to this man, just to make fun of that one year, I had a friend on Facebook, I said, hey, put this out there for me. And just say Tim McVeigh won the Philly Fanatic to the Lord. downtown Philadelphia. He was, Philly Phanatic was there at the Constitution Center. So I was holding a track and I shook his hand. He had no idea what's going on. He's a Philly Phanatic. He's just a big, fat, goofy mascot, you know. And so I told him, tell him I love the Philly Phanatic. The other day there was all the Wienermobile. I almost wanted to send that out and just say, hey, I won the Wienermobile of the Lord. Does God save souls or do we? Does God give assurance or do we? Listen, I know I'm going real slow. I'm just plugging through. I'm plugging through some pretty deep mud. I'm gonna wear that. But somebody else puts that brick on the wall and somebody else comes and dobs it with untempered mortar. I've seen pictures of people's house and they're bragging about how all their children are saved. Now I want you to listen to me. You can tell by looking at the pictures they're not. To balance their family, loves the Lord. You say, you're judging those things? No, they're judging themselves. Winebibbers, unholy, jacking up, chilling on a wet lot. They love the Lord. When somebody comes along, just dobs that untempered water. Somebody comes along, smooths the surface. And everybody says, wow, look at that beautiful white wall. Look at that beautiful wall. Look at what they've built. Look at what they've become. But you know the sad thing about that wall is in the bottom of that wall, it gets darker and darker and darker. Right. And everybody just keeps building up that wall, shoring up that wall. I'm not a big complimentary person. I'm more of an insultatarian. Those of you that I do insult, I think the only people I do insult are people that I know they have confidence that I do care about their soul. And that's why I insult them. There's no one taking more abuse from me than probably Brother Ronnie and Brother Dale, unless it's, well, it's Timothy and Peter. abuse, horrible. But you know one thing I've never done for any one of those men that I love, they're like brothers to me, all of them. I've never taken that untempered mortar and tried to put it on their walls. Tell them how great they are, how wonderful they are. I got a niece over there. I'll make her stand up and testify in services. She doesn't hesitate. She hates me for it, but she doesn't hesitate. I thank God for her. I do. Thank God for testimony. I've never gone to take that whitewash and put it on that wall. Never tried to build that wall up. Never tried to shore them up. They're saved. Oh yeah, they love the Lord. Because when that storm comes and that untempered mortar washes out, that wall will fall. And here's the message tonight. What is under your feet when the wall falls? Wise man, he built his house on that rock. Storms came, house stood. But that foolish man built his house in the sand. And they walked by and said, what a beautiful wall. What a beautiful home. It was all whitewashed. And for years, maybe decades, that house stood. I don't know how long it stood. Nobody admired it. Talk of the town until the storm. You realize God sends a storm to show you what you are. God sends a storm into your life to uncover what you are. Somebody specifically asked me recently about the matter of me speaking about the time that God brought me so low, stripped me down to absolutely nothing since I've been saved. And I said, well, it wasn't once, it was twice. You see when you're an evangelist and you're a preacher, some people love you, some people hate you. People who love the truth, they love you. People who hate the truth, they hate you. I've gone to church and people have gone and told their pastor, please don't ever have that man back again. I've gone to church and they've gone and told the pastor, can we please have that man back? And the brother's pastor hates what I said. Him never coming back, but the people want me to. We get letters from people in churches, we're not allowed to go preaching. That's true story. People contact us different times, we can't go back to their church. This is the love of the McVeigh family, not because of who we are, not because of what we do, because we sowed in goodness in their lives in the Word of God, and they honor that goodness of the Word of God, and they love the McVeigh family, and their church won't even let us come for it. When you're in the ministry, that stuff go to your head. Yeah. Oh, yeah. You let that stuff go to your head. Yes, sir. You'll start to praise and think you did something. Mm-hmm. That's good. With that little stir in a couple of years, there's been quite a few who got saved. Listen, God would let that go to my head, because I know what an idiot I was at that time. Yes, sir. I'd sit there in some of those services like we did last night, sit there for hours, and I'd move over to shut my mouth as I spew foolishness out and try to dissuade myself. I don't want to be so involved that I just keep my mouth shut. Watch people wrestling over, so I keep my mouth shut. First thing I had to do was take all of my works and had to shed them. You realize deacons go to hell too? Right, right, I know that. Second school teachers go to hell, choir members go to hell, preachers go to hell. Right, right. Preachers' wives go to hell. Yeah, yeah. You say, no, preachers. more than we want. Yes. He said many, many, and by the way, few there be that find it. They're preaching broad path, it's because they're living on a broad path. They preach that wide gate, that broad way, it's because they're living on it. You preach how you want to live, just live how you want to live, it's because that's how you live. Servants in church do their works completely in the flesh To be seen of men You realize the first thing you need to knock the props out of yourself What I'm doing is I'm doing it to glorify God or my doing For the islands And when that brick falls There's been a whole lot of trouble with that. I learned is glamour preaching. I watch guys that glamour preaching. They can almost overcome the the emotion of it. And man, they just, there's like a glamorous side of boy, just the accolades and man, they just, they're just so enamored but then I've gone to the restaurants after the services and I've watched men, the people there are great ugly to people, and I've watched their language change, and their actions change, and I realize it's only preaching to them. It's not a lifestyle. That's right. That's right. And I've left church with church founders. And they throw their church hat off, and they become themselves, because what they are at church is not what they are in their lives. Oh, come on. Yeah, I believe that. I appreciate that. Yeah. And God tries to uncover that. God tries to wash that mortar off of you that you can find out that there's nothing in those stones that have been put upon you. The first thing you've got to do is you've got to take your works to God and find out if they're his works or your works. And by the way, you better find out now because one of these days when you find out they're yours, they're going to get burned up anyway. We're sitting at home. than two and a half years ago. The Lord had been nagging me about doing a podcast. I just, to be honest, I struggled with it. I really struggled. I said, Lord, nobody's gonna listen. It's gonna be a waste of time. Nobody's gonna want to listen. A couple months ago, the Lord began to prick my heart about going back on the radio. But you see, I got to humble myself to do that. I had to place a phone call to a man who doesn't like me. And I'd have to plead with him. I'd have to say something like, I know you don't like me, so I'll be the one who wants to be on the radio. He said, would you really say that? I'm going to have to say that, because I know he doesn't like me. He made it very clear. The only priest that ever canceled me, because of my friendship with David Byrne. True story. He said, if you have him in, you're not going to preach here. I said, OK. Brother Byrne's going to have us in every year. It worked out fine. Amen. And the Lord began to prick my heart by going on the radio, but I'm going to have to eat some serious humble pie because of something I sowed back 13, 14 years ago. And the Lord showed me, no, you need to go back on the radio. You're recording anyway, get back on the radio. Y'all pray about that for me. I don't like the thought of it. I don't like to hear the sound of my own voice. let alone the thought of being critiqued by thousands of people. I think you're using the podcast because you want to. Some people are stuck listening to the radio. I didn't do it for me. I didn't do it for accolades. I didn't do it for attaboys. I did it because the Lord pressed my heart. I spent a sleepless night, Georgia Hotel on a Monday night. I've been dealing with Debbie and Tanya the day before. I was stressed, pulling my hair out, couldn't sleep. I got up that morning, went and found John Astin. I think about lunchtime. He said, brother, you invited me to come up for vacation to Bible school. I feel like the Lord's impressed upon me to get some young people from some of these churches down south and come up north. And we're so impressed to be able to speak to him. Within two weeks, we had a group of 14 of us got in a borrowed van, loaded up on food, borrowed a trailer, drove to New York. First youth group was brought out of that. I couldn't have made that up. But there's a whole lot of works I can do that I can make up. There's a whole lot of things I can do to be seen of men. To receive accolades. To have somebody say, I'm a boy. Therefore, it doesn't mean I'm saved. I help people. My wicked neighbors help people. Do you listen to men? My wife and I got neighbors across the driveway from us. We never got them to church. Never had deep conversation of God with them. I believe they respect us. I believe they know where we stand. We've talked to them, tried to witness to them, tried to share the gospel with them. While we're gone, they'll watch over our house and put our packages on the porch. He can offer to mow the grass. He's had him replaced by somebody else to mow. They'll take our trash out for us. They'll do everything they can. You know what? They're good neighbors. They're lost. People say, well, I do all these things for God. Lost people can do that too. But somebody's dogged it with untempered water. They won't withstand the profession that many bear. People say, well, it's not just, how can you judge my profession? I'm not judging your profession, God is going to. And God's gonna judge your profession based on one thing, his dear son. And I've watched a generation today come along and they've all, it's what they've done, what they've done, what they've done, what they've done. And they refuse to let God knock those walls down in their life. But I taught Sunday school for 30 years. And I sang in the choir for 25 years. I was a deacon for 12 years. I've had people come up to me and look, this is one of the crimes, shames, and ministry. I used to pastor. It is a crime and shame. You know what I'm talking about. Retirement. They just quit. They just quit. Yeah, I used to be an evangelist, sitting there, hair down to their shoulders, smell like cigarettes, booze on their breath, true story. Yeah, I used to be a children's minister. And this story is repeated over and over and over and over and over again. See people come out of the bar. of their own tracks preaching across the street. A lady came over and told us, she said, where are you from? I told her, she goes, I used to go to church. I said, why'd you quit? She said, well, I found something different. So I asked somebody in the church about it. I said, oh, yeah, she's got saved here back in like 82 or something. I said, no, she might have been a professional in 82. Right. I said, you're judging her. No, she's judging herself. That's right. That's right. That's right. She's trying to tell you, I'm lost. You won't let God tear those walls down. Bitterness. And by the way, bitterness does not mean you're lost. It's a mark of many safe. But you better knock that wall down. You better let God take that brick out of your wall and find out what's underneath that just in case that bitterness is out of hell. You see, we don't want God to completely rend us. We don't want God to reduce us. We don't want God to take us low. That's the lowest point in my ministry until January. Lowest point in my ministry. I'm sitting in a church in Rochester, Minnesota. And I'm up in the prophet's room and I'm sitting there. I've driven thousands of miles. I have nowhere to go, nothing to do. Born out of my mind. And I'm sitting there looking at my ministry and looking at all the works of my ministry, the fruit of my ministry. I had no meetings. I'm struggling in the veins of a flat broke. My mortgage is a couple of months behind. And God that night began to just tear me down piece by piece by piece. And I began to shed all those things I had done. I began to shed all those things I thought I was doing for God. I began to shed all those things I thought I was. I began to shed all of those things. By the time those two days were over, I got down to the bottom. I realized I had absolutely nothing left. It was made manifest to me. Most of what I was doing was flesh. Most of what I was doing was my works. Most of what I was doing was my righteousness and God was not in it. Pleasing people or pleasing God. But you know what I did fine? I haven't looked down at my feet. And I found I'd been lifted out of a miry plant. He put my feet on that solid rock. And when I got down to the bottom of what I was, the bottom of what I thought I was, I realized my feet were firmly planted with Jesus Christ. And I've been preaching this message long before I went to Minnesota. And I said, Lord, if you'll build on that rock, put some good mortar. This wall is safe. God's done something. Amen. Amen. Storms come. Little pieces fall off here and there. That rock wall stays. Amen. Amen. You know what God said? He'll uncover the foundation thereof. God's gonna wash away all that mud and all that phony and he's gonna show you where you stand. And he does it with storms. It's amazing, you get sick, all of a sudden you need God. Isn't that amazing? Marriage problems, all of a sudden you need God. Hurt, all of a sudden you need God. Which you didn't need in the last six years. Even now, the last 10 years. I've watched, and listen, I'm very respectful, I believe, but I'm very kind. I preached last night, I spoke with some of you aging folks, got a hoary head. You're not what you used to be. But with all respect and kindness in my heart, if you didn't need God 20 years ago, you're not gonna need Him now either. I've watched it. We got it all figured out. It's amazing, people find out they got some kind of ailment. Now, after 90 years, they're changing the way they eat. Right. Yeah. They're throwing that switch. All of a sudden, they get bad news from the doctor, and all of a sudden, they get down to the religious little story. And the doctor says, you know what? The cancer's now gone. And all of a sudden, they just forget about God for a little bit. It has to have cost some of those people. I don't need God. I have a profession. I don't need God. I do what I'm supposed to do. Yeah, I'm saved. I printed a pamphlet back, I guess, 19 years ago. Had a printing company in Vermont print them up for me, and I gave them all out, and then the printing company refused, not even refused, to give me the edited document back, because the Christian brother said, it passes as that, that's way too much, that goes way too far. Well, when I gave them all, they wouldn't print it for me anymore, and they kept my original, I have no idea what ever happened. I have no way to ever print that pamphlet again. It's similar to the title of this, Yeah, I'm Saved. had a wrinkled up old hand holding a whiskey glass with cigarettes hanging out of the fingers. He said, Tyler, yeah, I'm saved. Right. That's true. And they used to hand it out to people on the street corner and watch them recoil, angry, with horror. They used to have to go up and down the streets of Baltimore, pick them up off the street, because people would throw them down disgust, frustrated, angry. Yeah, I'm saved. So flippant, so indifferent. Yeah, I'm saved. You're a fornicator. Yeah, I'm saved. You're an adulterer. Yeah, I'm saved. You hate God, yeah, I'm saved. You don't go to church, yeah, I'm saved. Don't read your Bible, yeah, I'm saved. If somebody comes through that untempered mortar, that whitewash, you're a good person. God loves you. Just keep trying to go on for God. I'm here to encourage you. Make sure you have to do better. We're all in this together. Just hold on tight, the end's coming. Everybody goes, oh man, that was such a great message. Oh man, it spoke to me. It was so powerful. You don't need somebody to tell you what you need to hear. You don't believe that, do you? You need somebody to tell you exactly what you need to hear. That man right there tells you what you need to hear. Just tune him out. When I was a sniveling little 16-year-old punk, church. At last, it's always about 45 but anyway, it's 30 years. I didn't want people to tell me what I needed to hear. Yeah. I didn't want people to tell me what I wanted to hear. I didn't wanna hear anything. Yeah. That's it. People began to build up those walls. Whitewash. Cover up the imperfections. Cover up the flaws. Cover up the wickedness. cover up the leprosy in the stones, just whitewashing. But then when God brought in that sword off that foundation, had to wash all those walls out, all that water out. The first time God did that was April 20th, 1997. And I was sinking in the mire. I had no righteousness of my own. I had no works of my own. I had nothing left. And that's the day that God saved me. And God's been gracious two times in my life to do that to me since. But I could find out where I stood with hallowed God. Junk it all. Throw it all aside. Just say, Lord, is that you? But Lord, I do this. You know, I don't know how many deacons are here. I'm not trying to be put off. They made me a deacon one time. And I went to the deacon's meeting, and I realized that I'm just supposed to be a yes man. There's this pressure to just say yes to everything. And that's just not in my makeup. It's not in my nature to do that. So I just said no to everything. No, not really. I stood up one time, something was wrong. It was actually illegal. And I said, we can't do that. It's illegal. And then next thing I know, I'm off the ballot. Somebody else on the ballot is going to be a deacon. So I was a very short-lived deacon. But you realize the deacons in that meeting with me that day, some of them are divorced and remarried because of adultery in their own life. One went back to crack cocaine. One cursed the church when his son died, got out of church, to this day does not go to church, hates God. They were deacons. I sat through them immediately. There's a couple I want to know for God. I preach for preachers who have gone to jail because of crimes they've committed. I preach for preachers who are all out-and-out liars. I mean bold-faced liars. But they love God. I preach for men who aren't in ministry tonight and shouldn't be in ministry ever again because of adultery. More than one, multiple preachers. We've seen three preachers under the umbrella of this ministry in the last six, seven years have gotten saved. Don't let that bother you. We've seen preachers' wives get saved. And one of them nobody thought would ever get saved. Amen. Amen. Amen. Well, she's listening. Thank god you got saved sister. Amen. Amen. She'll be listening. I said, she'll be listening. He said, well, it's hopeless. Let's just quit praying. She's not gonna get saved. But then god stepped in. Amen. God in her name. Amen. Right. Can I tell a story on somebody here without embarrassing them? If it came to me later on, I'm not gonna say a name, but there's somebody, I just watched somebody one time, and I just noticed this contempt, just this, like this awful face with pride, looking at somebody just with contempt. And I just put it back here in my mind. One day us men were sitting around talking, and I just relayed that story. And I said, it'd be interesting. You know, this young lady says she got saved. It'd be interesting if, you know, if that's all changed. And then she told the story from her end to some of those people I talked to. Amen. She said, I can't believe it. I feel a little like, I can't believe it. I haven't thought that. I've at least thought that way. And I said, you know, that's a pretty good sign. Amen. Amen. Amen. God will knock these walls down. You'll find out you're not as great as you think you are. I know. That's right. You're not as high up as you think you are. You don't have a lofty position like you think you do. You know what I've learned about ministry? To be a minister of God's is to be a servant. But it's a servant of God. It's what he needs. Ministry is people. Ministry is about you. So what do we do to tell you the truth? Unless someone has ever lied to you and said, that's Jesus Christ. Those words you repeat, that's Jesus Christ. That prayer you pray, that's Jesus Christ. And you'll stand before him one day and say, depart from me, you workers of iniquity. Why would he say that? Because it was never in your heart. It was never in your heart. Always in the outward, always in the actions, always in the things you did, what you thought you were. And Pastor Astley tells a story of his pastor. His pastor was a very eloquent man. I've only heard a few tapes. He had a play with my wife. He was not like my former pastor, Brother Herbert, who's in Louisville, still in hospital in his prayer. Not as eloquent as he was. But as John talks about his pastor saying to him, if you knew what I thought about you, you'd leave. I've said some pretty stout things to a few people. I've said some pretty stout things to a few people. But I never said that. But you know something? There's not one of those people that's ever gotten out of sorts, got blowed out of church, got all throwed out because I said something too strong. Many of them have gotten saved. Many of them have come to Christ. Do you know why? Great peace, how they which love thy law and nothing shall offend them. But it's religious people that say you ought not save those things. I had a young lady one time, she said, I will never do that. And then she did. And then she did a whole lot worse. I get a text the other day, my wife and I get a text from her. She says, pray for me. I'm not doing well. I said, I bet you're not. I said, physical, emotional, spiritual. She said, all of the above. I said, well, that's a good place for her to be. I would never do that. A good place for her to be is under conviction. I'm going slow. I'm calling this what I'm doing. I'm not just rambling. I've been doing this a long time. I know where the nails are sticking up. Does the word crap offend anybody here? Raise your hand if that offends you. Timothy, okay. Nate, okay. I said crap one time. This girl went, we don't say that. I said, well, what in the world did you say? She said, stinky. I went, We don't say that. You say, I'm not telling that story. I don't tell that story that says self-righteousness. We don't say that. We don't do that. We would never be involved in that. But you might be involved in something a whole lot worse than that. I would never do that. You better be real careful saying what you'll never do. I remember as a boy, my neighbor boy told me. He said, we're talking about some family up the hill, they're getting divorced. My neighbor boy, later on, by the way, got to go to his house and spend a lot of time with different times witnessing to him. Never did get saved that I know of, but spent many, many hours with him. He said, my parents, They told me that we'll never get a divorce. My parents assured me. So I went to my mom and dad and said, you know, when they saw it, they said, they're right. I remember my mom said, well, honey, we'll never get a divorce either. That month. Yeah. I don't think my mom intended to. We'll never. We would never do that. We would never say that. We would never live that way. But you have no mercy for people that do. You have no mercy for people that do those things, say those things, walk that way. You have no mercy for those people. Why? Because the spirit of God does not dwell within most. And there's no mercy. If you want to obtain mercy, you better be merciful. The Word of God tells you that. For blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. You know why there's no mercy in your life? Because you're not merciful to people. The second you think you're better than somebody, you still got that old tempered board, untempered board stuck on the face of the facade of your life. And God needs to cross that wall down to rubble. You'll see what you mean. Amen. Yes, right. Amen and amen on that. Amen. How about self-righteousness, buddy? You think you're better? You got to be the story of that little girl last time I made her up. Probably 15 years ago, Pastor Amy. Blue hair, a bow in her nose, tongue raised, tattoos on her eyelids. I've met her 50 times. You've met her 50 times. Now watch me show contempt for that girl. Jesus. I'm going to be in stores in the middle of the night. I'm going to press you to go back. Yeah. Take a tractor and go back to you. Yes. Yes. And I've got that same hard, vicious, nasty little girl whipped into the gospel. You may have had a better upbringing than that, but you're no better than that. That's right. That's exactly right. You didn't get abused by your grandfather. You didn't get abused by your father. Right. You don't have the hurts that little girl had before. Right. You ain't just a piece of meat thrown to the dogs of life. Right, right. You ought to just thank God you don't have that. Thank God. Amen. Amen. Some of the things are better than that. Right. Yeah. Lord help us. These little thugs down in the ghetto, all tough. I remember one time, you know, those bikers, you know, they get off their motorcycle, dude's about this big. Man, he takes off his jacket, takes off his jacket, takes off his, you know, his vest underneath, and built like Russell. You know what I found? You know why? All that façade feel the perfect thing. That whole façade feel the life of this crush. But then maybe, the outlaws of maybe come to the gas station. And I was talking to her. Hey, how you guys doing? Hey, how's it going, man? Hey, good. How you doing today? And my wife's like, honey, you just need to avoid that. And I said, honey, they're just harmless and stuff. You know, a little gang. And the one guy came through. And I just looked at him one time and said, no, I'm going to get in the car. And it was true story. I thought he was a little more depressive, but I believe him a lot. So we get in the car. And my wife's like, harmless? Harmless? She's on the phone. Murder? Conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine. Violence. Gang violence. I said, well, they're nice. Nothing better than that. No. Just the grace of God. That's right. Amen. Thank you, Jesus. Just the grace of God to have a Christian mother raise me in the house of God. Amen. Just the grace of God. Amen. I can be David Nelson, right? Right, brother. God will judge. That's right. He'll try. He'll try. Yeah. Some of you are raised in church and rejected. Some of you are raised in church and still hate God. Right. Some hate God. You can't serve two masters. You love one and hate the other. If you don't like the grace of God, it's because you got a problem with God. True. What will pride get you? So where do we run back to? To strengthen the hands of the wicked. You should not return from this wicked way by promising him life. How can I not be saved? Come on. Come on. Such a good Yeah. Yeah. Some of you, some of you. I think you met eight years ago. Yeah. I remember those little teenagers. You know, they bat your eyes and think you fell over and all that. Do you know why God doesn't let you say you're eight years late? Because they were late. Dang it! You say, that's Chinese you're talking about. No, not the North American. Not the Chinese. Amen. If you know what God did, God was gracious to send her a guide and a preacher. Amen. God had an awful lot of courage. Amen. To come out of a youth's league under conviction. Amen. To go back home without a conviction. Amen. To her special needs without a conviction. Right. Hallelujah. God was good to her. Amen. Yeah, he was. Amen. Amen. Now listen, embracing fourth party on top, 5,000 people all that. Maybe 10,000. I don't know. Maybe 10,000. I'm going to see this little girl. I know most of you did work before she was a little girl. Amen. That's right. I'm going to get hell ready to see the little girl. Watch God put her in a condition. Amen. Watch God put her to preach. That's right. Watch her start going to meetings. Yes. She's troubled. She drove four hours to meet in Western Pennsylvania. Yes. Will God not hold her? God show her a Amen. Amen. Amen. She's almost perfect. Every year for Christmas, her parents give her another halo to put on the stack. I'm telling you, everybody thought she was a perfect little angel. Until she got saved, and then she testified. Man, how good did she look then? Everybody went, her? Well, yeah, her. Yeah, but I don't know how it is. She's better than that. You better be apostle Paul. Come on. No, Pharisee. Give me no sin. Right. Those on the wall for a hundred percent. Yeah, right. Can you imagine a shop would be a salt? Perfect. Never violated the law. Yes. Live for god all of his days. Zealous towards god. All of a sudden, god says, It is down on your wall. A young lady who knew several years back came to us with my wife and I said, I'm just going to struggle with my salvation. You ever hear that? By the way, if it's your salvation, you're going to struggle with it. Works of righteousness, which we have done. She said, I'm really struggling with my salvation. So I told her. I said, you get your King James Bible, and you go sit in your room, and you read your Bible, and you wrestle this out with God. And I told her, I said, don't tell people that. She called us a couple of days later, said, you know, I talked to my pastor, I talked to my mom, and I'm OK now. They reminded me of what I said. Fast forward seven, eight years, seven years later, called us, texted us the other day, said I'm really struggling. Oh my, hallelujah. But she wished she hadn't called her mommy. that she wished she had called her pastor. What are you going to do? Oh, you're such a good girl. I remember the day you got saved. You couldn't talk. It's only three. I remember the day you got saved. Come on. Come on. Dear lord. Dear lord. I'm a sinner. Sinner. Hey, you got saved. Oh, this is wonderful. It's out of hell. If you don't like that, just listen. It's out of hell. I love that lady. She's a grandma to my children. Thank God. She's 16 years old. She's a school teacher by the way. I want to tell you how many Muslims make up a number. Two, three years ago, after 30 years of professing faith, I'm going to tell you how. God said what she's lost. Amen. That prayer will hold up. That's right. Now listen, I came out of the kitchen that morning, and I told you this. I thought for sure that David would die. She's weak. She's solid. I said, oh my goodness. We're going to cry. We've been the same. She turns around and she's like, I said, it's about time. I can't hardly cry in public sometimes. Some of you have no idea how I cry. Because there's no fridge, there's no magnets. There's bitterness, malice, envy, strife, barrenness. I'm a friend of a maid, thinking of a farmer. And as she got saved, she told me, she said, I was scared to say no to my Sunday school teacher. That led me to pray. She said, I clung to that all those years in misery. Now listen, this is truth. I've told her, Mr. Face, first time we met them. I was there one Sunday night. We went to church. I preached. She sat there with her husband, Matt. We went over to the pastor's house. They were there. We left. I got in the car. I told my wife, I said, man, that's a bitter woman. He said, you're judging that. How many of you know Vicki LaFarge? How many of you know a bitter Vicki LaFarge? Anybody know that one? Oh, she must have got sick. Next time we went there Sunday night, she gave me a hard, amazing hug. She told Matt in the bed, Matt, I'm not saying, he's a young woman, go in the room, take care of that. She came that night, I had the glow on her face, the joy of her coming. Both my wife and I out in the foyer just began to gush about this marvelous work that Jesus Christ has done in her. Tears run down her face. She just beside herself with joy. God so filled her. My wife has said it many times. Just filled her with joy. Good mom. Good wife. God made a difference in her life. Story after story after story. Good church people. People with integrity. People with honesty. People with character. And look, they just lost. They're just words. There's no shame in that. There's no embarrassment in that. You just don't know. Maybe those ever told you.
