11. The Secret of an Understanding Heart (Rev. 2)
Series Family Matters
Pastor Robert Rohlin compares Psalm 128:3 with Proverbs 24:30-34. The latter passage is usually viewed as a passage on the rewards of diligence and the dangers of slothfulness. But the phrase "void of understanding" which is applied to the vineyard owner actually means "void of heart." Pastor Rohlin looks at the Hebrew words for understanding to describe what it means for a Dad to have an understanding heart. Then he keys in on the most important aspect of all. A family needs a Dad who has no affections that compete with his love for God. He shows from the vivid language of Proverbs 24 how a family disintegrates when Dad fails to be an understanding father. Robert Rohlin is a pastor at First Baptist Church Las Colinas in Irving, TX - a family integrated Baptist church.
