Hello again and welcome to the program. We're here with a little encouragement for today. We hope that we can also have some strength for today and we will if we get in the Word of God. We're going to get in Psalm chapter 1. Have your Bible ready. We're going to take a while and look at Psalm chapter 1. There's only six little verses. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that bringeth forth his fruit in his season. His leaf also shall not wither, and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so, but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. For the Lord knoweth the way of the righteous, but the way of the ungodly shall perish. The word blessed in this portion of scripture has been translated happy 16 times. Well, we all want to be happy. How can we be happy? Happiness is a byproduct. You can't just be happy because you wake up one day and say, I think I'm going to be happy. Happiness is an emotion, and this emotion is a byproduct of doing what it says in this little chapter. is the man now does that mean women can't be happy no that word has been translated one 188 times so happy is the one man woman teenager everybody and the first thing it says here in this way to happiness is that they walk not in the council of the ungodly now walking what is that all about that word has been translated go 217 times. So when we talk about walking, we can talk about walking from the house to the car, or we can talk about our walk or our direction in life, which is what this is talking about. So blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly. Now as we've said before, everything we do in life, we do because we have been influenced to do it. When I was three years old, I didn't know whether I wanted to buy a Chevrolet or a Honda or a Ford. Somebody has influenced us along the way. Everything we think, say, or do, we do it because we have been influenced to do it. So blessed is he that walketh not in the influence of the ungodly, the ungodly. And so the question is, what do we have to do to be ungodly? Well, the dictionary says the little word there, un, in front of another word is the opposite of something. In other words, we can be kind or we can be unkind. We can be happy or we can be unhappy. A lock can be locked or it can be unlocked. And so unkind is not kind. Unhappy is not happy. Unlocked is not locked. And ungodly is not godly. What it says here is, blessed is he that walketh not in the counsel of those who are not godly. It goes on to say, nor standeth in the way of sinners. Now again, this is the formula on how to be happy. Let me read it again. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. When it's talking about standing here, it's like Psalm 119, verse 161, where David said, My heart standeth in awe of thy word. Where do we take our stand today? When it says not to stand in the way of sinners, that word way has been translated journey 23 times. Nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. Now to sit, that word has been translated dwell 432 times. And so to sum it up, if we want to be happy, it has to do with the direction that we are going in life, our walk, what way are we going? It has to do with who is influencing us, counseling us. Is it the godly or the ungodly? It has to do with where we stand. It has to do in the way the journey is taking for us. Are we going the way of sinners? And it has to do with where we sit or where we dwell. We have no choice but to choose. We would be happy if we would choose what it says in Psalm chapter 1.
