Through Many Tribulations

We continue through the Book of Acts this morning as Paul & Barnabus conclude their first missionary joournary ot the Gentiles throughout modern-day Turkey. As the Spirit leads them, not only do they experience persecution but this becomes a theme of their message to the newly established churches.

1. ATICONIUM (VV.1–7)
   o The revival in another synagogue (v.1) remember the definition of "revival"
   o The response of opposition (v.2)
   o Increased power of the Spirit (v.3)
   o Even more escalation of persecution (vv.4–5)
   [Summary: vv. 6–7 move us into vv. 8–24]

2. AT LYSTRA (VV.8–20A)
   o Preaching & a miracle (vv.8–10) How does the pattern in v.3 & here teach us the purpose of miracles?
   o Pagan religion & Paul's preaching (vv.11–18)
   o Continuing persecution (vv.19)
   o A miraculous response (vv.20–21a)

3. FOLLOW-UP IN LYSTRA, ICONIUM, ANTIOCH IN PISIDIA, & PERGA (VV.21B–25)
   o "Strengthening & encouraging" with the Word (vv.22)
   o "Strengthening & encouraging" with leadership (v.23)

4. RETURN TO ANTIOCH ON THE ORONTES (VV. 26–28)
   o "all that God had done with them and how he had opened a door of faith to the Gentiles" (v.27)
