For It Was Not to Angels

The writer of Hebrews in verse 5 declares the hope of the gospel lies in the reality of the new world to come. In the OT, the angels were not only considered to be synonymous with law giving but with a measure of authoritative rule in the world (Deut 32:8). But not so with the new world to come. The writer of Hebrews will make the case in subsequent verses that this rule will solely be given to mankind under the sovereign Lordship of Jesus Christ.
