Let's read together Isaiah 56 verses 7, 8, and 9 together. Even then will I bring to my home and make them joyful in my house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices shall be accepted upon my altar. For my house will be called a house of prayer for all people. For Lord God, who has guided the outcasts of Israel, said, Yet will I gather others to him, beside those that are gathered unto him. O ye beasts of the field, come to devour, yea, all ye beasts in the forest. 5 verse 7, who is the Lord going to bring to his holy mountain? What is his holy mountain? Where is that holy mountain, O Lord? Yes, that's Jerusalem, that's right. Somebody said that. Oh, it's Jerusalem, she said. You can't see the presence of God. Well, that's true, true. It's surely the Holy Mount and the Holy Presence. But I think this is Israel going to be gathered together, and then when He gathers them. Are the Israelites today trusting Christ as Savior and Redeemer? No, only the ones that are Messianic. Only the ones that are Messianic. We went into a jewelry store today, and my wife took a couple of things to get fixed, and I got a new watch band that was sort of wearing out. And he says, well, my son was a Jew, was a Messianic Jew, was a born-again Christian. He told me that he's a Jewish man himself, but he knew what we believed. And so we invited him to come to church and so on. Who knows? He won't come. But anyhow, he's a Jew over there. He's got a dog also, doesn't he? I'm sorry, what did he say? His son? It's his brother. I'm sorry. And then he has another one. Is it his sister or daughter? The brother's wife also was born again too. So the Messianic Jews, he said, do you know anything about Messianic Jews? I said, absolutely, sure. I know all about that. And he mentions the name of Philadelphia and so on. I didn't know anything about that. Yeah, whatever. But at any rate, we asked Will. A Messianic Jew is really a snowman. Yeah. But a Messianic Jew is a Christian. Is a Christian, that's right. See, that's right. Yeah, Dan. The other part is they're all too similar to Messiah. He knows how to work these other things, doesn't he? yeah sure go ahead yeah okay you need any help Dan just call me I'll come right back here you'll feel like you've been moved by the Holy Spirit when I push the wrong button and you're all zapped out of your seats go ahead Dan you usually don't believe in Christ except that you believe in Messiah but you don't believe in his tongue yet So one day he's going to gather his people. Somebody asked me one time, where was, I guess it was at Wendy's a couple of weeks ago. They said, now where will the people be saved? When will they be saved? Oh, they'll be saved during the tribulation period. That's what's going to happen. A nation will be born in a day. And how's that going to happen? I said, well, the Lord's going to call 12,000 of every tribe of Israel. 12,000 out of the 12,000. 144,000. They'll be evangelists. They'll be preaching through internet, through radio, through television. All those means that God has given us. And as soon as people have been saved, they'll be killed by Antichrist. But anyhow, there'll be a nation born in a day. They'll enter into the millennial age. And God's going to bring them back to their land. And that's where verse 7, I will bring them to my holy mountain, make them joyful in my house of prayer. What is his house of prayer? In the temple. Alright, that's right. And their bread offerings, their sacrifices will be accepted in my altar. And so, that's another question. Jerry Fitzgerald, one of our video people we mentioned tonight, she asked the question in an email. She said, Someone has said there's going to be sacrifices in the Millennial Temple. Where is that in Scripture, see? It's like Torah and Ezekiel, the book of Ezekiel, chapter 40 and 41, 42, along in there, there's going to be a temple that will be built during the Millennium. They will have blood offerings, there will be peace offerings, there will be sacrifices, blood offerings, looking back to Calvary, just like the Jews looked forward to Calvary in the Old Testament. So, it can't be spiritualized away, it can't be taken away. So, this is what they will have, the offerings will be on the altar at that time. Then the last part of verse 7 is quoted in the New Testament, isn't it? Where is that found? My house shall be called house of prayer. That's right, it's in Matthew 21.13 and Mark 11.17, Luke 19.46, all three places, Matthew, Mark, and Luke. And what did the Lord Jesus do in regard to His house of prayer? What were the money changers doing there? Sell them. Why were they selling? Do you remember? Sacrifice. So what they had to bring, they had to have sacrifices. So what did they do, these merchants? What was their function? Okay. So what did the people want to buy? What did the people want to buy? Doves and sacrificial animals. They brought their money to buy the doves. Why did they bring the doves? To bring the calves or the goats. Why didn't they bring them to Jerusalem? Pardon me? Didn't want to carry them the whole way. It would be a long way, see, because they came from all the different areas where they were scattered, you see. How many times a year did the Jews have to come to Jerusalem? What was the rule? Was it? At least twice. Three times. Three times. What were the months where they had to all assemble? Three times a year. First month? Well, you know, we just go by first, second, third, fourth, and April, May, June. How many feasts were in first month? How many feasts did they have to come? All in the first month. There were three feasts, remember? There was Passover, Passover, that was a little bit later, the Unleavened Bread, and the Feast of First Fruits. So that's the first month. So there's three feasts in that first month. So they all settled the first month. And what's the third month is what feast? Fifty days after is called the Feast of Pentecost, that's on the day that they had to come the third month of every year. Then the seventh month, how many feasts did they have? Three more feasts. See, they had seven feasts. Three, one, and three. And what were the feasts of the seventh month? They all had to come to Jerusalem the seventh month. Trumpets, that picture of the Lord's return, the brachion. What's the second one? Well, it's down there, but atonement, and then the booths, or tabernacles, that's right. So these are the feasts, and so the Lord Jesus drove the mighty changers out, One of the things that the money exchangers did was to change money. The currency of the day was the Roman denarius and they weren't allowed to use that in the temple. They had to exchange it for a holy temple money. And they would charge extra for that usury and make money that way. That's right. So they didn't want to take that. So another thing, when we went to Jerusalem, Mount Sinai in the 1980s, our guide told us that the place to have the selling of the sheep was not the place where they were supposed to. That was supposed to be a different place. The gate where they were selling sheep or selling coins and trading sheep was the wrong gate. That was another thing. around another way, if you want that, but this is a different... I don't know the details of it, but anyway... They were on the temple steps. Yeah. And the tables, it was... I'm not discounting what Jesus did, but the tables, so that they would fit on the steps, would have two short legs and two long legs, so that when they would tip, when Jesus came to tip them over, it was very easy to throw them over, because they were lopsided. Well, that's good. They're on steps, that's for sure. Maybe they were at the wrong gate, but they did the wrong thing and they were stealing. But one day this house will be called a house of prayer for all people. You made it a den of thieves, you said, didn't you? Then in verse 8, again, what's the Lord going to do here? Who's he going to gather? The outcasts of Israel. Is this a spiritual gathering or is it a general, literal gathering? It's a literal gathering, isn't it? When plain sense makes good sense, he ignores the sense. that's the light of, you know, he's clearly figurative. And then it says they will gather others to him. Out comes others as well. Are more than Israelites saved today? Yes, mostly Gentiles, not that there are some Jews, but mostly Gentiles. So God said he's going to, it says in the book of John, other sheep have I that I must bring also. And these are the Gentiles, we are they. Beside those that are gathered unto him. Then in verse 8 he invites The beast of the field to devour and the beast of the force. And now there's going to be a terrible catastrophe at the tribulation time. What's that called? Terrible catastrophe on this earth. Yes. Armageddon. Armageddon. And then God will call for the fowls of the air to get the blood of all the people. And they're going to have a meal. I don't know how long it's going to take for all the birds of the air to clean up after them. But this could be a reference to that. I'm not sure. Beasts of fear come to devour. And the beasts of the forest. Any other comments on that? Let's read 10, 11, and 12 together. I think we read 10. Yeah, Bob? Tell them about the ranch. And tell them about the thing that Yes, we went to one of the other things. We went to a big ranch. They had some relatives of the bride, my grandson married relatives, had a big, I think about 175 acres, big acreage. On that ranch, I get the picture, they had 400 cows, 300 calves. and 40 horses. And when the little calves would die, they tried to get them away so that they wouldn't discourage the rest of the herd. So I said, what did you do? Did you bury them? No, we just took them way off. He's got a whole bunch of fields. Some cows are here, some cows are here, some are over there. And apparently the birds of the air just clean up and eat the flesh. So there it is. That's just the way the balance of nature. So that's one of these vultures and the very beasts of prey. take care. So this is what happened. Let's read verse 10, 11, and 12 together. His watchmen are blind, they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark, sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber. Yea, they are greedy dogs, which can never have enough, and they are shepherds, they cannot understand. They all look to their own way, every one for his own gain from his quarter. Come, ye say they, I will fetch wine We will fill ourselves with strong drink, and tomorrow shall be as this day, and much more abundant. All right, verse 10. What is a watchman? A sentrier. What is a watchman supposed to do? Keep guard. Keep guard. All right. And if an enemy comes, what's that watchman supposed to do? Sound the alarm. So what does the word wait mean in Scotch? Wait. My name. Wait. Watchman. That's right. We told you before. That's what it means. So weights are watchmen. That's what historically they were. And it's good to be a watchman. So what about Israel's watchmen? There's several characteristics about these watchmen of Israel. First characteristic is what? Blind. What? Can a blind watchman do any good? He can hear, but that doesn't help. Sometimes you come slowly. You shoot from afar. You have your machine gun there and all of a sudden it's gone. Enemy can approach. So blindness. Do we have any need for watchmen today in the church world? Yes. What's wrong? Who are the enemies that are attacking us? Apostate teaching? What else? The world. All the enemies of the world. That's right. Wickedness of the world. Yes, Matt? The devil. That's right, Matt. He's attacking us. What about among the Christian people? What is it? Each other, right? There's certainly problems among the Christians. Professor, are all separated, fundamental and doing the right thing in the right way? No, there's different compromises. So watchmen are important. Now, do people like watchmen? No. Yes and no. People do like watchmen. The righteous ones like watchmen because they look out for the truth, the truth of the enemy approaching. The enemy doesn't like the watchman because he tells the truth. That's true, that's true. Now, sometimes we are our enemy. In other words, if you're a watchman or you're sounding a decree, you're sounding an alarm, you're a watchman who sounds the alarm, you see something, and suppose you're asleep. Do you want to be awakened and hear this alarm? You want to be, you should be wanting to, but I mean, right now it seems a little bit inconvenient, right? I'll let you sleep. What if your house is on fire, see? Somebody knocks on the door, she rings the bell and screams that shit and so on. What are they waking me up for? Aren't you glad they wake you up? Watchman is necessary. But some people don't like watchmen. Do you have a problem? Yes. Washington had a watchman that was on duty that was loyal to our men. This was one that was sort of fun. He was a I guess he was a Iraqi. He was some other. And he was not. He's not a Marine. He was an army man. Right. Air Force. Just like you posed for Washington to look for attacks without the unexpected attack. That's right. And that's why George Washington on the crossing to Delaware and that final, very important battle said, put only Americans on watch tonight. Only Americans. Now there's a lot of traitors in Washington's army, George Washington's army. A lot of the ones that are favorable to the British. Put only Americans on watch tonight. See, this man was on watch. He shouldn't have been on watch because it was sort of a penalty, see? And so that's why he threw the grenades in and killed all of our men. Watchmen are important. They were proper pastors of Washington. They died in guard walks. That's exactly right. Proper pastors were guarded. So a lot of people don't like to hear these things. Yes, after that? I know, but I was thinking before that people don't like to hear the truth. Yes, that's right. If they say they like the truth and you're not going to tell them, they're offended. Yes. Offended by the word. Exactly. So that see, there's lots of watchmen, people in the church. People should tell you things that they don't tell you. Exactly. Right. You know, they're not really. Did the modernism of the United Methodist Church come overnight? No. Did the modernism of the Northern Baptist Convention come overnight? No. Any of the denominations. Did the drift in the General Association of Regular Baptist Churches come over me? The drift. It's a slow, slow, slow. Where were the watchmen? Where were the ones that were faithfully? See, people like to be low to sleep and they don't want to be waken up, see? But we've got to keep our eyes open. That's why David Cloud is a watchman on the wall. That's why we have many of his materials, because he watches, watches, watches. He gets something out. A lot of people hate David Cloud and his ministry. You and I all agree with everything he puts out. I'm not saying that, but he is a watchman. The best that he knows how. And when he makes a mistake, he says, I made a mistake in this article. Please correct it. He tries to be thoughtful along his line. But people don't like watchmen. The same with Dr. Don Jasmine. And it's fundamental to start this. They don't like Don Testament. You know how it is. Because he's telling facts. Here's what happens over here. Here's what he's quoting. These things, we've got to be aware in the church world. And so watch, remember that. Yes, Jill? You've met Chris. I'm sure that don't like you. Oh, I better believe it. A lot of people don't like Chris. Well, they've been too strong. That's right. And of course, on this issue of the King James Bible. And the Hebrew text, the Greek text as well. Which we have championed that cause because we're very strong and in favor of. And many of the people on the other side, you know Westcott and Horton and other versions, different things, look at your pastor as a sort of a strange person. But we can't be blind. What's the second thing about the Watchman of Israel? Ignorance. What is ignorance? Not aware. Not aware. Okay. Ignorance. Now, a watchman, why does he not have to, why can't he be ignorant? What if he is ignorant? What's going to happen to the city? All the enemies, they're going to fall, and people shrunk quietly. Look at the Indians, how they attacked them. Quietly creep up, all of a sudden, off to the head, see? Whatever, scalp. So, you cannot be ignorant. If you're a watchman, you must know your enemy. You must have eyes. You can't be blind. Then you can't be ignorant, you can't be without intelligence. That's why the IQ and the intelligence community is able to pick out attacks before they occur, because they're aware they have people placed all throughout the world, and of course a lot of them are a little bit ignorant too, they don't get the right attack. People knew about the 9-11 attack ahead of time, we took no provision for it. Some people believe that we did it because we wanted to have it to attack, in order to make us a slave state with this an increase of federal government power, police power, and so on and so forth. Be that as it may, we knew in advance they were planning attacks from other countries with airplanes. And we didn't do a thing about it. There's so many things that are questionable. Yes, I know you had a comment. That means uninformed, not knowing. Most of us know it means not, not knowing. See, it just means something, not knowing. Yes. Now, we use the term today, ignorant, meaning not knowing too much, not too much smarts, as we say, am I right? But textual means not knowing something. A watchman doesn't know what's going to happen, doesn't know anything about the enemy. See, he's ignorant. What's the third characteristic about these watchmen visually? All right, they're dumb. Dumb dogs. Now, what is dumb in this case? But we say dominant way, but Tommy's got the right way. It's not being able to talk, you know, deaf and dumb. That's it. That's because you're dumb. But ignorant, I'm knowing, dumb. Now, if the watchman is blind, he doesn't know anything about the enemy, he can't talk, is he a good watchman or a bad watchman? He's a bad watcher. He can't do anything. He's inefficient, in fact. And so, knowing something and then not doing it, see? If you were to know that your mother, your father, your son, your daughter, your family member, your loved one, your friend would be just about ready to be in an accident. You could see it coming and you didn't warn them. Your mouth was closed. You wouldn't be a very good watcher, would you? You wouldn't love them very much. But that's where we've got to warn people, see? In pending doom. A dog. Now, what about this dog in verse 10? What kind of dog is that? Ivan? I just had some other things on dogs. Some place we've been, and my neighbor was a Liberian, the dogs did not bark. I can't remember, but some place we've been. And down there in the Bahamas, they had a lot of stray dogs. Oh yeah, stray dogs all over. They just, I don't know why, but they had two, three stray dogs all over, eating out of garbage cans. They just let them go. All kinds of them. Twos and threes. Twos and threes, yeah. They had great tails by the dogs. Oh, really? Passengers? Oh, really? Oh, there's several dogs? Oh, that's interesting. You've got a little bit of dog story there. That's good. So, a dog that doesn't bark is a search dog as far as a watchman. Now, see, do people like to be told when they're doing something unscriptural? No. Never. We don't. We just like to wait a minute. Don't tread on my toes. And that's where some pastors get into trouble. They can be as kind as you please. They can be as loving as you please. But when they tread on something, and preaching from the scripture that the people are involved with and they don't like it, sometimes they get angry at the pastor, kick him out, get rid of him, see. Our idea for watchman must be a watchman to warn about incoming sin in our lives, in our hearts, and so on. They have to be knowledgeable. They can't be blind. They can't shut their mouths. We've got to speak. So then what else about these dogs? Sleeping. Now, what is the position of a sleeping watchman? What is the penalty for a watchman in the military who's sleeping on duty and wars? Death. Time of war is death. You don't sleep on duty. No question about it. That's right. That's that's a time of war. Why is that? Because you cross other people's lives. See that's a Marine, ex-Marine. I'm an ex-Marine. Former Marine. Former, excuse me, former. I gotta say, he cringed the whole time, I forgot his name. Never an ex-Marine, always former Marine. I guess I'm a former Navy officer. All right, go ahead. Because we cross other people's lives, a lot of pretend on it. They aren't pretending that the person is sick or finds themselves overcome with drowsiness so they can go and ask for relief. Relief. They simply take a nap. Just think of the enemy coming and watching. Here's somebody that's supposed to, all the other platoon or company or whatever it is of the battalion is asleep, getting their rest, and here this man or men, whatever number, are to guard that company, to be sure they are alert. And then to sleep? This is serious business. Yes. Yes. And of course our president knew that it was coming, they knew the Japanese had cancelled it. Oh, they knew about that, I'm afraid too. They'd broken the purple code of the Japanese, they knew exactly, they were on their way, they knew it, and they didn't let Admiral Kimball and Short know about it. And they just, they wanted to get us into World War II in order to help Joe Stalin. to give them a second front. Here Joe Stalin was being beat up by the Nazis. And I'm against the Nazis, I'm against the communists, I'm against both of them. What they should have done is let the Nazis beat up by the communists and knock the whole guys right out of the fight. No. Friendly Eisenhower, friendly FDR, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, had to help his friend, Jostahlen. So our boys at Anzio and other beaches had to go in on Normandy and be slaughtered and killed. The Germans just wiped them out in order for the Germans to come back from the Russian front, back to defend Normandy, to give it a little bit of peace for Jostahlen. As I said, we know all about it. And that got us into the war. And that's one promise FDR said, I will never get you into war. It's one of the promises he made before he was elected presidency. Of course, that's ancient history to most of us. Anyway, but the watchman, see, those poor fellows, I don't know how many, was it 3,000 dead in one shot? 4,000? I consider that to be murder because our president, the chief executive officer of our nation, knew the Japs were coming, didn't want the ships to go out to sea, they just were sitting ducks. December 7, 1941, one day before my birthday. We saw this photo in a memorial film. Pearl Harbor Memorial and the second ships that were going to Honolulu and Tonga. Yes, it's holy ground, it certainly is. All right, so that's the third. First, about the watchmen, what is it? First, blind. Second, ignorant. Third, dumb dogs. Fourth, can't bark. Fifth, slither. What about this lying down business? What's the status here for watchmen lying down? On this day he's sleeping? No. He's lying down. Is that the posture for a watchman? No. Why not? He's tired out, like his father. Went to Oklahoma. Went to Oklahoma, they're tied up. You're tired, alright. That's no posture for a watchman. Lying down. In other words, we've got to be alert, standing. Normally we're two footed people, two feeted people, however you want to say it, and we're supposed to be standing. See? Now they're quadruped. Quadrupeds, they're four-footed, that's one thing. We've got two feet, and we're supposed to stand. That's our posture. Watchman. What's the last qualification of a watchman? It's a sad thing. Loving to sleep. See now, one thing to be asleep, one thing to lie down and not sleep, but what's this loving to sleep? What characteristic of a watchman would that be? Lazy. Lazy, alright. Just want to do nothing in the way of a watchman. What are you paid to do? You're supposed to watch. for the enemies of God. Now, who in Israel should have been the watchman? Here in Jerusalem and all the areas of Jerusalem? Remember the northern tribes, the ten tribes of Israel went into captivity over in Assyria. They were in Assyrian captivity about what year, roughly? In Assyria. What year, roughly? 700 B.C. And then the southern two tribes of Judah and Benjamin went over into Babylonian, excuse me, Assyrian captivity, I'm sorry, Assyrian captivity. And then the two tribes, Judah and Benjamin, went over to Babylonian captivity about 100 years later, about 600 BC. So 700 BC in Assyria. Now, what was wrong with, who should have been the watchman of these people to prevent God's sending them into captivity? Who did God post on Israel For all the kings, 19 kings of the north, 19 kings of the south, who should have guarded them so they would never have had to go on infectivity? Who are some of the ones responsible? The watchmen that were dumb, blind, not working, lying down, loving to slumber. Kings were one, absolutely. And the kings, if you'll see, the kings of Israel, the kings of Judah, that was wrong and evil in the sight of the Lord? There were watchmen that were this, all these characteristics. Who else were involved with watchmen that didn't do their duty? The priests, they were supposed to be holy men. And they were just as evil as could be. Eli, the priest, other people. And there's a third category of watchmen. Who are they? Kings? Priests? People? That's a fourth category. Okay, then we've got another one. Okay, the people themselves. They should have watched for their own selves, watched for their own souls, read the word of God, or followed the word of God. What else? Yes? The judges? All right, the judges. That's another one. That's the fifth category, all right? I'm still thinking of one of them. Prophets? Kings? People? Prophets. They did not prophesy truly. They were prophesied lying prophets. And because of these things, what was the plan of God as far as getting the truth of God throughout the entire North and South, the whole Israelitist community? What was the plan of God? Who did he want scattered throughout the North and the South, all the whole land? Who did he put in there? Remember? Book of Numbers? Priests. Pardon me? Priests, and also? Priests and? Prophets. Well, prophets, but also the ones that the priests came from. What tribe? Levites. So, Levites, alright. So, the Levites. See, they had Levitical cities. You know how many Levitical cities? They had 48 Levitical cities. Used to be 48 states, remember 48 Levitical cities. They had cities on the north, all scattered throughout. And the priests and the Levites were there and their purpose was to preach the word of God, teach the word of God to the people so the people would be pure and holy and not go into sin. And that's the problem when Jeroboam took the northern tribes and severed them and went to the north and broke off from the south and had the golden calves, that's where the Levites left the North, went down to the South, because they drove them out. So no longer was the Word of God in the North. And so the Levites were a problem, the Priests were a problem, and then in the South, the Levites went down there, but then after a while they didn't preach the Word of God, and they were stilled and quieted, and the Prophets didn't bark, and they were bagwashmen. So God sends people into captivity. Now let's look at verse 11. What else about these dogs? Oh, one other characteristic of a watchman is this. Dog can't bark. Dog is sleeping. Dog is loving the slumber. What about the greedy? What's that mean? What's that mean? Never satisfied. Want more? More money, more sleep, more food, more clothing. So greedy dogs. They can never have enough. Then there's another characteristic of these Washingtons. They're called what in verse 11? Shepherds. Now, what is the characteristic of the shepherd here? What do they say about these kind of shepherds? Does a shepherd need to understand? What does a shepherd need to understand? Sheep. Alright. He's got to know sheep. He's got to know where the feed is, where the water is, the grass, the green grass. And he has to know how to take care of those sheep when they're wounded. He's got to know how to take care of the wounded sheep. And that's what a shepherd is, whether he's a pastor, a shepherd. But these shepherds did not understand. They shouldn't be in the business. Now, they've got a whole series of newfangled churches now in the Southern Baptist Convention. We just read about them the other day. Dr. DeVito, our friend up in Massachusetts, sent me an email that he got from his son. Here's the plan. little churches, you know, like our little churches are. Just have a pastor there, just sort of run things. But then, on Sunday morning and Sunday evening, you have a huge screen, and you have leading preachers from the whole Southern Baptist Church, spellbinding preachers, so everybody looks at the preacher, and the preacher that's the pastor is not the preacher. That's the newfangled idea, see? And they say, well, that's building churches, that's getting great things. But the thing about it is, what's wrong with these pastors that don't know how to preach? See, that's my question. What about, I don't care the size of the church. Why is it, what kind of pastors are seminaries turning out that can't preach the word of God? See, that's my question. But that's the idea. Get these little churches, they say this pastor's no good, he can't preach, can't do anything. Get a big man, big name, and that's where all the churches will come to see that. That's what they're doing with bringing in televisions or anything like that. That might or might not be a spokesman. Perhaps they do know how to treat the product of the leadership. That could be a form of tribe, the leadership, which doesn't look like a local creature. Exactly. So you see, this is an interesting thing. But it's a it's a watchman. It's the pastors, shepherds that can understand. And what where are the shepherds? What? Oh, yes. Can I just tell them about the church we went to Sunday? Oh, my. The church we went to Sunday. Now, let me just tell you. We had a wedding in an Assembly of God church, which I opposed to completely. That's the grandson's bride-to-be, and they're married and so on. So there it is, the Assembly of God. So there we were, very beautiful building and all this and so on. Someone said, do you want to go to the Assembly of God church for Sunday? I said, not me. I'm not going to go to that church. Any church Sunday. I'm a preacher. I'm a Baptist. So I went to the Baptist church. All right, that's fine. My daughter, Diane, went with us. And she knows all about the Baptist church. But that was a visiting pastor at that church. I timed him. He took 18 minutes, telling various stories, where he'd been, different things, story after story after story. Then he said, That was Sherman. So he got a few verses and thought it was a horrendously horrible situation. It was a terrible thing. I mean, my daughter was very disappointed that I was this way. It was easy. He's a nice talker and talk to him. He's an evangelist. He's been in ministry for a number of years and told a different story. But I call him skyscraper Sherman's series of tall stories, a series of tall stories. But the shepherds, what else about the shepherds in verse 11? Not only shepherds that don't understand, what else? What does that mean, they looked the wrong way? What does that mean? Self-serving sheep. See, is that what a shepherd should do? If a shepherd looks the wrong way, what about the sheep? They go out for themselves and be out for themselves. A wolf can come and if the shepherd's looking his own way, he's not concerned about the wolf. He can kill the sheep and so on. Am I right? The shepherd has got to be thinking not of himself. If he wanted to think of himself, why even go out and feed the sheep and lead them to the water and go after the wolves? Just go back and sit down and do nothing. And some shepherds, I'm sorry to say, spiritual shepherds today, pastor shepherds as well, are doing the same thing. And what else? The final thing about the shepherd is what? What is it? What else is he looking for? His own gain. That could be gain in popularity, gain in advancement, gain in money, but it's gain. Shepherds, and dogs, and watchmen, and we've got to, we're going to stop right here, we're going to take this up next, Lord willing, next Thursday, but we've got to be good watchmen, every one of us, in our families. Individually, whether married, single, whatever, young, old, we've got to watch, first of all, ourselves, And then we've got to watch our friends and our family and help them to watch out for danger. And ask the Lord to guide us. And may the Lord deliver us from watchmen or shepherds that are these kind of people. Dogs that won't bark. Dogs that are dumb and don't speak, don't say anything. But that the Lord may deliver us and our people.
