One more time, Lord, one more time One more time, Lord, one more time I'm so glad to be in God's service One more time, oh, one more time One more time, Lord, one more time One more time, Lord, one more time And I'm so glad to be in God's service One more time, oh, one more time If my mother was here today, these are the words I would hear her say. I'm so glad to be in God's service one more time, oh, one more time. If my father was here today, these are the words I would hear him say. I'm so glad to be in God's service one more time. Oh, one more time. One more time, Lord. One more time. One more time, Lord. One more time. I'm so glad to be in God's service one more time. Oh, one more time. Thank you, Lord. I am so excited to be here in God's house this morning. Let me tell you something, church. If you're excited this morning, I want to hear a whoo! Are you excited this morning? Let's do that again. Are you excited this morning? Yes, sir. I am so happy to be in God's house this morning. I'm so full this morning. I'm so full of joy. I'm so full of peace. I'm so full of happiness this morning, church, and I pray that you feel the same this morning. This has been a good place to be. Listen, church, we have to lift up all those prayer requests. Listen, let's remember each other, God. We all have stuff going on in our life, so let's just remember each other as we go throughout this week, as we go through our life. Let me tell you something, church, because prayer is a powerful thing, and I believe that if we just pray to God, he will answer our prayer. I believe it, church, I do. Let me tell you all something, if you have your Bible, Go ahead and open up your Bible to John chapter six. If you have your Bible, we're gonna look at John chapter six. I'm so excited about this sermon that God has given me. I'm just so excited, I can't even talk to be honest with you. Woo! John chapter six. What I'm gonna be talking about this morning. I was thinking about something. Church, as human, we all are hungry. As human, we're hungry, right? We're hungry people all the time. Listen, I was talking to my wife the other day. I told her, I said, honey, I said, we ain't got no food. And she said, just look at the pantry. I go, I know, but we don't have anything that we want. Let me tell you something, church. We are spoiled. God has blessed us with so much that we are hungry. But let me tell you something, church. There are people in this world that have a hunger. And when I'm talking about hunger, I'm not talking about food. I'm talking about a spiritual hunger that is going on in this world. Let me tell you something, church. There are people that are starving. for Jesus Christ this morning. And you might be here this morning, I'm going to tell you right now, every single one of us has a spiritual hunger this morning, church. We do. I was thinking about this preacher, I heard a story about this preacher, he was telling this He had a sermon about hunger, and he was telling people that if you want to be full, all you got to do is just step out and accept Jesus Christ. And people were, as he was doing an altar call, people were coming up to accept Jesus Christ. People were coming up to him to request a prayer request. He was praying with them. And when people got excited all of a sudden, because there was a line full of people, but at the very end of the line, there was a little girl. She was about four years old that was in that line. And people were so excited, they were jumping for joy. And when that little girl got to the preacher, The preacher kind of smiled at her, and he leaned down to her, and he said, well, what is your request, ma'am? And she looked at her dad, and she said, I'm hungry. Can you take me to Wendy's after church? It's a horrible joke, I know. But just roll with me, church. But she was confused, because even though he was preaching on hunger, she was thinking about physical hunger. Let me tell you something, church. There's a story that we're going to be looking at this morning. We're going to be looking at a story where Jesus where Jesus took care of the physical, but he also talked about the spiritual hunger that these people need, that we all need in our life. We're gonna look at verse 24, John chapter six, verse 24, but before we get there, I wanna do a recap of what happened at verse one to 14. That's where Jesus, this is the most well-known story about Jesus did that wonderful miracle where he provided food to the 5,000 people with five loaves of bread and two fish. It's a wonderful story. People came to him and he would do a miracle. He was healing them and he also fed them, church. After their basket was full of food, there was enough for 12 baskets left. And let me tell you something, church. Like I said earlier, we are spoiled when it comes to food. These people, they were starving every day. They were on the brink of starvation. That's why food was such a special thing to them. But let me tell you something, church. There's a hunger that Jesus is going to talk about and we're going to be looking at. We're going to look at verse 24. John chapter 6, verse 24. When people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping and came to Capernaum seeking for Jesus. And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said to the rabbi, when cometh the heathers, Jesus answered them and said, verily, verily, I say unto you, ye seek me not, because ye saw the miracle but because ye did eat of the loaves and were filled." Let me tell you something, church. Those people, they were seeking out for Jesus, but they were seeking out to Jesus for the wrong reason. They were seeking out to him because they wanted food for him. They wanted him to provide a miracle of food. not all they they totally missed the healing part they totally missed the the part where jesus did all the miracle on them but they they were so focused on the food that they even seek out to find jesus for him to do that again and he said to them he said hey listen You're not seeking for me for miracle. You just want me for food, church. Let me tell you something, church. We have a hole in our heart. Like I said earlier, we have a hunger. Every single one of us have a hunger. If you are lost, guess what? You are starving. If you are saved, guess what? You have a hunger. Let me tell you something, church. We have a hole in our heart. And let me tell you, so many times as humans, we want to fill it up with power. We want to fill it up with money. We want to fill it up with drugs and alcohol. We want to fill it up with pride. There's so many things that we want to fill that hole up with. material things, but let me tell you something church, you will not be satisfied. No matter what you go through in your life, no matter what you try to try to satisfy yourself with, if Jesus is not in there, guess what? You're not going to be satisfied. I don't care how hard you work, I don't care how hard you work to provide your family. Listen, I know people, I knew people in my life, they would work every single day, they would work every Sunday morning, and I remember asking them, I would say, why are you working so hard? What if they say, well Asa, I want to provide for my family. Well let me tell you, Stubborn Church, you can give your family all the things in this world, but without Jesus Christ, you will never be satisfied. You will always have that hunger in your heart, and you're going to keep pushing and keep pushing, and you're going to realize, you're going to wake up one day, you're going to realize that you do not have God in your life. That's the reason why the story about the rich man and the poor man stood out to me as a young boy, because that story changed me. That story changed me when the rich man had everything in the world, and the poor man had nothing. He was begging for food. He was eating leftover from the rich man. As life go on, that rich man died, and that poor man died. Like I said, this story just changed my life. When the rich man woke up, he realized he was in an awful, awful place, church. He was in a place that was torn, but he was in a place that was not meant for humans. He was in an awful, awful place called Hell Church. And he looked up, and he saw the heavens above, and he saw Abraham up there. And right next to Abraham was that poor man named Lazarus. And he asked, he said, Lazarus, if you would just give me a drop of water to cool me down. That's how miserable this place was. This place is so miserable, he just want a drip of water from Lazarus' hand. And let me tell you something, church, he actually looked up and asked Abraham, he said, why don't you bring Lazarus back to life so my brothers will see him and they will believe in him, believe in God. But Abraham says, no, he says, they have Moses. Well, let me tell you something this morning, church. Yes, you have. You have Jesus. He's the reason why. He's who you have this morning, Jesus. And let me tell you something, everybody in this building, I don't care if you're lost or saved, you've heard of Him. from the moment that you knew who he was. You've heard of Jesus when you were young. You have Jesus. And the reason why that story changed my life, he didn't go to hell because he was rich. He went to hell because he didn't have God. He did not have God in his life, church. There are so many people in this world, in these churches, that have a hole in their heart and they're just trying to do everything they can. to be satisfied. Let me tell you something, church. The only way you can be satisfied is accepting the blood of Jesus Christ in your life. And if you do not have that, I'm going to tell you this right now, you're going to be trying to find everything that you can to be satisfied. And let me tell you something, church. If you're here this morning, if you're here this morning, and you have something going on in your life, all you have to do is turn to Jesus Christ. That's all you gotta do. I don't care what it is, there is nothing too big for my God. Just like when it came to feeding those 5,000 people, church, guess what? It wasn't too big for my God. Our God did it, but He is the greatest thing on this earth. He's the one who created the heavens and the earth. He's the one that created the sun, the moon, the sky, the trees. He can do anything, church, but you got to put your faith in him this morning. And I want to tell you right now, if you are here this morning, you are lost. You might be thinking, well, Brother Aster, I don't have any problems right now. Well, guess what? You're going to have a problem. If you do not have God in your life, you're going to have a big problem, church. But let me tell you something. God can solve that problem this morning. All you have to do is just give yourself to him, church. But Lord, let me tell you something. I remember for so many years in my life, even after I accepted Jesus Christ, I still had a hunger. And I couldn't figure out what it was. I was just hungry. I mean, it seemed like every day I was longing for something, church. I was longing for something. Even though I accepted Jesus Christ in my life, I was still hungry. And what I realized, Church, is that I was not living for Jesus Christ. I was not giving Him my all. I would just come to church on Sunday, and that was it. I wouldn't get into the Word of the Bible. I wouldn't even pray. I would get to a point in my life where I would think, you know what, I'm gonna try to fulfill this worldly thing in Jesus. Well, let me tell you, you can't do that. You're either all in or you're all out, church. Church, let's look at verse 30. Let's skip over to verse 30. So the crowd went to Jesus for bread. But let me tell you something, church. What I love about this is that Jesus tells them, hey, listen, man, that you did not come for the miracle, you came just for the loaf of bread. He just told them. He just called them out. He said, you know what? You're not here for the right reason. If you want to be satisfied this morning, we're going to look at verse 30, and I'm going to tell you how we can be satisfied. Verse 30 says this, it says, They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see and believe thee? What doest thou work? Our father did eat manna in the desert, As it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. I love this part. Jesus Christ is telling them who He is, but they sit there and they go, well, what can you do for us? They say, listen, God gave our ancestors bread from heaven when they were fleeing from Egypt, going to the promised land. But verse 32 says this, Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, And to you, Moses gave you not the bread from heaven, but my father giving you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is which coming down from heaven has given life unto the world. Let's look at verse 34. Then they said to him, The Lord evermore give us this bread. So now they say, hey, we understand what you're saying, but just give us this bread. Let me tell you something, church. He said, in verse 35, Jesus said to him, I am the bread of life. He said that come to me, shall never hunger. And he that believeth on me shall never thirst." Church, if you want to be satisfied, all you have to do is just accept the blood of Jesus Christ. And that's what he's trying to tell them. He said, hey, I can do more than just give you food. I can give you life. I can give you eternal life. I am the bread of life. So many times, church, we always look past what Jesus can do for us. We think, well, all we want Jesus to do is provide for our needs, just like he did with these people. He would give them what they needed. They needed food at that moment, but there was something more that they needed that is everlasting life. That's eternal life with him. I am the bread of life, he said. And he said, you shall never Hunger and let me tell you something church. I am so thirsty. I could drink this whole bottle right now Could you imagine being a magician with Jesus Christ where you would never ever hunger again? Let me tell you something church just recently I was I was I was in a situation in my life where I was kind of you know I wasn't studying my Bible too much. I wasn't praying as much and I remember thinking I had this hunger, but I didn't know what this hunger was I was looking at All of the worldly things that were trying to satisfy me. And let me tell you something, church, the Lord provides everything that I need. I don't need any more in this world. He's given me everything. But most of all, He's given me the Son of His Son, Jesus Christ, to come into this earth to live a perfect life. and made a sacrifice for our sin. So when we die, church, God don't see the sin of us. He sees the blood of Jesus Christ. So my question for you this morning, are you satisfied? Are you satisfied this morning? Do you have Jesus in your life this morning? Just imagine how Jesus felt when all they wanted was bread. Imagine how he feels when all we want in this world are the material things, church. Imagine how he feels. He's saying, I can give you more. I can give you more. The thing on this earth is not going to last forever, church. It's not going to last forever. Your house, it's not going to last forever. Your car, not going to last forever. Your clothes, well guess what? My clothes don't fit me no more because I keep putting on weight because my daughter is stressing me out. My poor wife. My poor wife. I ate a whole box of pizza the other day. And she said, how many pieces did you eat? I said, I ate the whole box, honey. I'm struggling here. And she said, I'm never going to ask you a question again. I said, I'm sorry, baby. I was just stressing out. You all heard my baby this morning screaming. Woo, I tell you. Imagine her at the house. She's always screaming. But let me tell you something, church. The things in this world are not going to last forever. Imagine how Jesus felt. He came from God as the manna that came from heaven. He is the bread of life. And let me tell you something, church. With Jesus Christ, you will never starve again. And you will live forever. You might be thinking, well, we can't live forever. I understand. We're going to have to face death in this world. But let me tell you something, church. We're going to face a judgment. We're going to face a judgment. And my question for you this morning, are you ready to face that judgment? Honestly, are you ready to face that judgment? Well, the one thing, now this might be crazy, but the one thing that stood out to me in the whole tent revival that I went to, that whole tent revival, when I couldn't be there, I was watching on Facebook, and the one thing that I got from that whole thing, and church, it just hit me in the face, because let me tell you something, church, As Christians, sometimes we try to live right down the middle. We try to go, well, I want to live for God, but I don't want to make people upset. Well, I'm going to hate to tell you this. People are not going to like you because you believe in Jesus Christ, because you're going to follow the path that Jesus Christ wants you on. Guess what? You're not going to see eye to eye to this world. And guess what? We shouldn't. This is a lost and dying world, guys. It's been that way since sin entered this world. And I think, I believe it was Brother Chance that said this. He was preaching on the ark, Noah in the ark, and he was talking about how, I'm just paraphrasing this, this is how I heard it. He was talking about how, you know, you are either in the boat or you're out the boat. That's what he said. And he said, and if you're in the middle, He said, God's still going to shut that door. And guess what's going to happen? You're going to get killed anyway. Because you're in the middle. It's going to cut you right up, right? We ain't have to be in. We're out, church. You cannot play this middle game. You cannot do it. God don't want you if you play that middle game. We cannot, listen, church, and listen, and the reason why I get so, I get so loud about it because I was that person for a long time where I just wanted to be right down the middle, and I just wanted to be left alone, and I wanted to do what I wanted to do, but coming on Sunday morning, I'll be at church. I'll dust the dust off of my Bible. But let me tell you something, church, God does not want that. He wants you in. And let me tell you something, church, if you are here this morning and you accepted the blood of Jesus Christ, I don't care how long ago, if you're in the middle, guess what? You're starving. You're hungry. You're hungry. Why? Because you're not fulfilling your heart all with Jesus Christ. Fully with Jesus Christ. You're trying to put the material things in there. You're trying to put life in there. Let me tell you something. Jesus is saying, I am the bread of life. First, let's look at, let's skip over to verse 47. I'm going to do a little bit of reading through here. The only way I stand to you that he believes on me hath everlasting life." It's that simple, church. Just believe in him. If you want to have everlasting life, believe in him. I am the bread of life. Your father did eat the manna in the wilderness." So he's saying, hey, your father did eat the manna, but guess what? And are dead. This is the bread which coming down from heaven that a man may eat thereof and not die, which is him. He's saying, I'm the bread. I'm gonna be the reason why you would never starve again, church. Verse 51, I am the living bread. which came from heaven. He's telling these people, he's telling you, he's saying, hey, God brought me down here to save you. If any man eat of this bread, he shall live forever. And the bread that I will give you is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. He said, I will give my life for all the sin in this world. That's every single one of us, church. He's given our life for us. He doesn't care what we look like. He doesn't care who we are. He doesn't care what our status is. up his life for us. Verse 52, the Jew therefore showed among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of a son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. Who eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at that last day. Amen. I tell you what, I can't wait for that last day. I can't wait for Jesus to raise me up, church. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eats my flesh and drinks my blood dwell in me, and I in him. This is that bread which came from heaven, not as your father did eat manna and are dead. He that eateth of this bread shall live forever." He is comparing eating to believing and food to himself. He's saying, believe in me! and your soul will be satisfied. That's all we gotta do. We gotta put our faith in Jesus Christ and you will be satisfied. And let me tell you something, church. Jesus, he came here to fulfill us. Not to empty us like this world does. And let me tell you, like I said earlier, I tried to live in this world. But let me tell you something, Church, I was miserable. I was never satisfied. I was always wanting more and more and more. And the sad part is, I mean, I couldn't even get more. And even if I did get more, guess what? It was never enough. Let me tell you something, Church. My question for you is this. What I want to say is this, Church. And this is for the people that are saved, that might be hungry this morning. When you eat food, you don't just eat one time, right? You eat one time, you're gonna starve yourself. You always come back to the table and you eat and you eat every day. Yeah, you know, three times a day, I don't know how much y'all eat, but you come back every time and you eat, church. What's happening is, and I've seen this all my life, What happened is people were coming to step Jesus Christ, and that one moment is the only time they give him. And if they didn't know, they're hungry again. And they come back two months later. You haven't seen them in two months, and they're like, I don't feel him. And I'm like, well, have you lived for him? Have you given your life to him? I mean, have you actually lived for God? Get into the Word of God? Have you come to church to worship? Listen, church, we have to keep coming to the table. We have to keep coming to church. We have to keep Reading the Word of God and let me tell you something church when you put the church the worshiping the praising and you put that daily reading Every day you put it together. I promise you you will feel full I promise you I felt this so every day I feel it and there's time in my life if I back off just a little I'm hungry That's why it's so important as Christians that we just keep pushing. Don't give yourself to this world. Keep giving yourself back to God. He wants you. He wants to fulfill that hole in your heart. I remember, like I said, going back to that little story I just told you, I remember just thinking, if I just give my life to God, I will be fulfilled. And listen, I was. But let me tell you something, church. Letting you know that hole started opening up and the world just kept coming right back in. And what happened is I found myself living for the world and not for God. Like I said, when I was reading this a while, like a long time ago, I realized, wait a second, he's the bread of life. Okay. to not be starving, I have to eat every day, right? Well, if I just keep living for Jesus Christ every day, I will be full. And let me tell you something, Church. All we have to do is just keep coming to Him. Keep following Him. Keep loving Him. Keep, listen to this, this is a hard one, keep obeying Him. Keep trusting Him. And I promise you, that you will be satisfied. If you're here this evening and you are lost, I want to let you know that you have a hole in your heart and you're trying to satisfy with anything that you can to satisfy yourself. And I want to go ahead, I want to tell you something. You don't have to do that no more. You don't have to worry about the worldly stuff. You don't have to worry about the material stuff anymore. All you have to do is accept Jesus Christ this morning. Listen, if the Lord is knocking on your heart this morning, what are you waiting on? Listen, everybody in here this morning, they're telling you, this was the best decision I've made in my life. Why? Because I'm satisfied. I know that God is in control. Let me tell you something, my AC went out the last week. I was panicking, the house was hot, and guess what? The Lord took care of it. He has provided my wonderful wife with a good job, and there was nothing for us to repair the air condition. He has taken care of our needs. We have clothes, we have food, we have everything that we need, church. And it's so funny because I'll see my neighbors around me, and they're buying all these new toys and all this stuff, and then they come, they drive by our house, and we just have this little car in the driveway. And let me tell you something, Church, if that was five years ago, I'd have told my wife, listen, we need to go into debt and buy a $50,000 truck, and you just gotta deal with it. But let me tell you something, Church, I'm at the point in my life, I don't care what I have. I don't care what brand it is. I don't care what people see. I want people to see Jesus. And you should have the same one. When people see you, they need to see Jesus. And let me tell you something, church, don't worry about the past because Jesus Christ has forgotten the past. Don't sit there and go, well, I can't shine my light because I was a bad person back then. Guess what? Jesus doesn't care. If you ask for forgiveness, he does not care. He's forgotten about it. So we have to keep moving, and people need to see who we worship, who we praise, who we sing our song to, and that is Jesus Christ. Why? Because He satisfies us. And let me tell you something, church, there's going to be people in this world, they're going to look at you, they're going to go, what do you have? Why do you seem so satisfied in this world? All we have to do is say, Jesus Christ. He's the reason why I'm satisfied in this world. He's the reason why no matter what I go through in this life, I know that He's got me. I know that He is in full control. Just like He was in control all that time with those people. He was in control. He knew that He was going to have to feed them. He knew that, guys. He was in control. And let me tell you something, church. If you're here this morning, you're lost. Or maybe you haven't lived for God and you just had that hunger in your heart tonight, this morning. All I'm asking you to do is to step out. That's all God's asking you to do. Step out in faith.
