Arcadio, the father of Aby, come to my house the other day. And when he walked up in the garage, I was looking at him, and he didn't look right. Right when he walked up to me, he looked different. And he told me that he has started going to a Baptist church. And he had Catholic roots, so I was afraid a little bit in the beginning. He said he's going to a Baptist church. And I went straight to doctors on the whole thing, and it sounds like he's got the correct doctor. He said he gave himself to the Lord. I don't know what more I could ask. Amen. Good praise. Amazing. Who else? Christine? So we had safe travels Friday to finish the whole funeral arrangements for my aunt. So that was a praise. And then there was only one slight disagreement between the whole family. So, praise the Lord, it didn't go beyond that. Tensions were high, and it was said and done, and now everything's good to go. All right, who else has a phrase to share? Will ya? I'm gonna praise the Lord that AJ seems to be doing better, and I'm just trusting Jesus that he finds his way. All right, Darrell? Well, praise the Lord I'm here, number one. And of course, he's still showing off and helping me keep things rolling at the shop. I don't have any employee or permanent help, but I'm getting work done and making money. So praise the Lord, Lord. It kinda looks like he's helping me clean that lot out so I can maybe move on to something else or fall in line with whatever he's up to. I won't know what that is till the 11th hour, I'm sure. But I trust you, and I thank you for everything. Eva, what's your praise today? I'm just thankful. I'm thankful for God's grace, his mercy, and his giving me discernment. Amen. Discernment's pretty important. Can I get a witness? Yeah, I gotta go to work. All right, Josh. Oh, praise the Lord for the work he brought my son. I spent the last two days shut up in the office preparing for today. And so, you know, there's some things that need to be done on the house I just put off. He walked in the office and said, Dad, I'd like to mow the yard. Okay, went in there and got him to mow her down. He mowed the entire backyard. He came to me and they know My whole family knows that I pride my front yard, and I don't let anyone else mow the front yard for me. And so he came to me and said, Dad, next to the backyard, I like to mow the front yard. How old is he? He's seven. Seven? I said, OK, you mow the front yard. So I set him up, and I mow the front yard. And then this morning, I look up, and he's walking in carrying all the bags from home and putting out all the combs for the church. praise the Lord is beautiful thing to see him go to work. Yeah, I didn't start. Hey, Josh, I got news for you. They do it when they get back. Who else got praise today? I think I'm finally seeing a little results on the stimulator. One day, I'll be pretty good. The next day, I'll hurt. This morning, I was hurting. But yesterday, I could even walk without this. I mean, it was hurting, but I could manage. And today, I got up, and I was hurting again. So it's just kind of like this all the time. But at least I'm having good days now. In between, I'm not just having every day bad. So I think I'm working towards working better. Daryl? It's good to see Brother James here. Praise the Lord for that. I have a second to that praise, which is we had a tremendous time at All but one of my sons were there. The only reason he wasn't there is because Amber went to the hospital. But I had three boys and one grandson. And we caught white bass until we were tired of pulling them in. Literally. We fried crappie for lunch one day. and that was really good. The best part was just to see, you know, just the awesome time we had and the willingness for each of the boys and my grandson to praise the Lord for what we were enjoying together. It was his, it was his gift to us. And we understood that. Brenda, what's your praise for? I just want to praise the Lord. On Wednesday, I was coming home from work and I'd normally turn off to the right on the street to go home, but I had decided just before that I was gonna go on straight to Walmart. And I'm not used to that road on that side, and I hit the curb, didn't realize it curved a little bit, and blew out my tire. It popped. I mean, thank goodness that the neighbors where I would turn, they heard it. And the guys were out there. Three of them came over where I had pulled off to the side of the road and changed my tire. Because I was already on the phone trying to figure out if I had roadside assistance. My landlords had gone out of town. So I had nobody I could call. I was panicking. And they came and changed my tire, thank God. You had roadside assistance. I've got to check into that now and make sure I've done it. Make sure you've got it done. Jesus is better than triple A. The Lord sent some assistance. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It does take way longer. It does take way longer than that for them. Oh, I know. But thank God, and thank you for the parents that have heard it. Because it's happened before, they said, to other people. That rope just curves, and you just don't see it until it's too late. And it just blew out my tire. I mean, it just cut it. It didn't damage the rim or anything. Usually your rim gets bent too, so. I thought it didn't. Anybody else? I had a peaceful, uneventful week and I made it to 65. Happy birthday! Well, a week from, what, Saturday? Yeah. I want to make it if I make it that long, I'll make it to 75. So there we go. Sunday, the 8th, the church is going to do a potluck after church with all the volunteers from camp for his birthday. And then potlucking it for the rest of it. We're probably a leftover, so we're doing the family thing and the old friends on Saturday, like people we haven't seen in a while. Mary, what's your praise? Yeah, I just want to praise and thank the Lord. Three days in the week, I got my feet. Swelling went down. I was like, yeah, because that's cute. Thank you, Jesus. But then it started coming back. I was like, oh, no, come on now. Don't do that. It was a good feeling when the Lord helped me, so I'm getting a little better. Yep. He is there. Yep. Anybody else? Christine? So with camp coming up, we pretty much have everything prepped and ready. We just have to do the cooking and the packing and the packing of the trailer and Everybody's ready for camp, and it's going so smoothly. Everything we're needing is there. Whereas last year, the things that we needed, like some of the drink mixes, we could not find. And this year, they're just all there. And everything is falling into place and going so, so smoothly. How often do you have your hand up, too? Yeah, so my wife made it back safely from Colorado. Got a bunch of cool trinkets. But the thing I'm most proud of, I think, And I got a new coin. I can hold it. So when you do your job well in the Space Force, they give you these coins. It's not exclusive to Space Force, but generally a superior will walk by and hand you one if you've been doing your job well for a year or two, you know. Anyway, so this one Aaron got about, and by the way, he's a graduate of Dickinson High School and of Lighthouse Baptist Church, and I'm sure At Dixon High School, they were probably like, yeah, go on, get rid of that kid, hurry. Yes, sir, you graduated. But smart kid. Anyway, this one he got about seven or eight years ago. Like I say, they're called coins in the Space Force, so that's their symbol. But this one I got yesterday is really cool. This one is Delta 11, which is the, in the Space Force, there's 11 Deltas. They all have their own assignment. And this one says, for superior performance from the commander on one side. It's got a bunch of other stuff. But the cool thing right here is it's space aggressors. Radical minds and radical work. And I was thinking, boy, we could do some radical discipleship. We'd be right up there with it. No, but that's what came to mind. But it's really cool if anybody wants to look at it. Aaron could have buzzed off either way, could have went nuts, or he could have focused. I know because of the grace and mercy. Without the church, he wouldn't have stayed focused on nothing. But them seedlings helped him to stay calm enough to do this job. But he made it out of Dickinson High and on to the military, thank God. It's a blessing. was baiting my hook. And he mentioned, he said, he said, I'd rather see you catching fish anyway. And he said, it's amazing how they pull circle. It really is. It's an amazing thing. All right, Proverbs chapter eight. This first verse is a description of the wonderful lady we're going to keep learning about as we go through Proverbs. And her name is Wisdom. It says, doth not wisdom cry and understanding put forth her voice. She standeth in the top of high places by the way and the places of the paths. She crieth at the gates, and at the entry of the city, and at the coming in at the doors. Does not wisdom cry? What's that talking about? It's all about crying out. It's all about crying out. Not crying like tears, but like just crying out. But how does that work? It's a question. But the answer, it's an obvious answer. Yes, the wisdom does cry out to us, but how does that work? Will you listen to it? Will you do what the Lord said? Will you listen and obey and learn? He's saying here that the stand at the high places at the city gates were... For us, for us who know the Lord, the reason you know the Lord is because when you put your trust in Jesus, he brought your soul to life, your spirit to life. Forever. And when you're facing a decision, wisdom cries out to you. It does. I've heard her many times. You're always faced with, every day you're faced with a decision. And every day you need her. She says an understanding puts forth her voice. Verse four, unto you, O men, I call, and my voice is to the sons of men. O ye simple, understand wisdom, and you fools, be of an understanding heart. Here, for I will speak of excellent things, and the opening of my lips shall be right things. For my mouth shall speak truth, and wickedness is an abomination to my lips. All the words of my mouth are in righteousness. There is nothing forward or perverse in them. They are all plain to him that understandeth and right to them that find knowledge. Receive my instruction and not silver and knowledge rather than choice gold. The world chooses silver and gold over knowledge. They choose silver and gold over wisdom. We're not supposed to ever do that. Because, as verse 11 tells us, wisdom is better than rubies. And all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it. I wisdom dwell with prudence and find out knowledge of witty inventions. The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth do I hate. Now, we just got through learning about, in the previous chapter, what God hates. And here's one more that's added to the list. The froward mouth do I hate. You ever had one of those? You're raising your hand, what do you got to say? I'm just curious about why it says understanding put forth her voice. Well, this is a discussion, so how does that work? Understanding put forth her voice. Alvin? Yeah. I mean, for me, it can put forth her voice in my own conscience, in my own mind. When I say something stupid, the voice of wisdom will hit me sometimes instantly. And why'd you say that? Yeah, that's kind of dorky for a Christian man to say. Yeah. And so like that. Yeah, it does. Gentle. There's a lot of different ways that wisdom is applied by people that possess it. It talks about witty inventions and find out knowledge of witty inventions. Cruise control, witty invention. There are lots of them. An automatic transmission is a witty invention. Just ask Ray Kennedy, he just changed out of clutch. Were you reading that? In verse 13, I'm sorry, verse number 12. 12. Mine's an automatic transmission, that's too witty for me. Yeah, your witty invention is broke right now. that bird isn't, doesn't belong there. Isn't what? Doesn't belong there. Witty. That sounds like it's like a ESV version or something. Yeah. And they don't have it highlighted so you can't pick it up. Well. And see the original language. Your cell phone that many of you are looking at right now with your Bible app on it is a definitely a witty invention. I think what it's saying is, I wisdom dwell prudence, these two are together, they're one. And find out witty inventions. Wisdom and prudence together are going to make witty inventions. Well, I wisdom dwell with prudence. So what's prudence? What's what? Prudence. Is that a girl's name? Craftiness. Craftiness? It's in a Beatles song. Prudence can come from whatever. Absolutely. I would say thoughtful. Thoughtful? Yes. Sound choices. With consideration. Kind of like if you got a shop and you need to make something to make this product work, just produce it. Wisdom is the understanding that governs every area of your life. Every area. There's no area that wisdom doesn't fit. Just go back to what we were learning a couple weeks ago. In chapter six, verse one, it's talking about becoming surety for your friend, co-signing loans. Is that wise? Do you need wisdom to govern your finances? Boy, do you ever. Six one. Let's go ahead and read the rest of this. There's a bunch of stuff in here. Verse 13, the fear of the Lord is to hate evil, pride, and arrogancy in the evil way. And the froward mouth do I hate. A froward mouth, very easy to recognize when you hear one. People are talking about, does God do this, or does he do that, or is he, Can God make a rock so big he can't lift it, you know? Yeah. I got a neighbor like that. That's a really nice one. That's a funny one. Proverbs are usually thought of as people that are cussing or they don't have a vocabulary that's clean. They don't use their brain. But there's just a bunch of ways to have a proverb mouth. Yeah. Lisa, what did you say? Ben, what's your question? Yeah, showing discord, all kinds of stuff. Your grandma knew about a forward mouth. She said, if you can't say something good, shut up. Shut up. Yeah, I would say a forward mouth also, of course, we know, you know, it's one of the things we're talking about, but when you say something against contrary to the word will also be a forward mouth. Sure would. Sure is. Verse fourteen wisdom says, counsel is mine and sound wisdom. I am understanding. I have strength. Yes. By me, that's wisdom. By me, kings reign and princes decree even all the judges of the earth. I love them that love me, and those that seek me early shall find me. Teach your kids to seek wisdom. What does the Bible tell you about how to seek wisdom? It says if anyone lacks wisdom, ask of God, and he will liberally give it to you. Riches and honor are with me, yea, durable riches and righteousness. Listen, the truth is in the word. Everything else is just an opinion. Yeah. In every second. My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold, my revenue than choice silver. I lead in the way of righteousness and in the midst of the paths of judgment, that I may cause those that love me to inherit substance and I will fill their treasures. The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way before his works of old. I was set up from everlasting from the beginning or ever the earth was. When there were no depths, I was brought forth, and when there were no fountains abounding with water, before the mountains were settled, before the hills, was I brought forth. While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world, when he prepared the heavens, I was there. When he set a compass upon the face of the earth, when he established the clouds above, when he strengthened the fountains of the deep, when he gave to the sea his decree that the water should not pass his commandment, when he appointed the foundations of the earth, when I was by him as one brought up with him, and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him. rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth, and my delights were with the sons of men. Now therefore hearken to me, O ye children, for blessed are they that keep my ways. Hear instruction and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me. Watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors, for whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favor of the Lord. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul. All that hate me love death. Going back to verse 21, that I may cause those that love me to inherit substance and will fill their treasures. verse 17. I love them that love me. Here's your question today. Do you love wisdom? Do you love her? Decisions made without wisdom come with consequences. As this as new decisions made with wisdom. The previous chapter was making sure you pick the right woman in your life, fellas. Sparky. Is common sense some part of wisdom? Is it common? I always said I had common sense, but not very much book sense. Well, if you were to define wisdom... I'd like to have more wisdom too. Common sense has a great deal to do with that. That's what we call it. Alvin? Yeah, have enough common sense to look in the word for your wisdom, because man's heart's deceiving. You'll think you're doing something wise, and then you'll see in the word, oh, wow, I'm an idiot. Yeah, well. What about your conscience? That's a good question. Your conscience. Does not wisdom cry? That'd be like red flags popping up. You're looking at something with a crying out, red flags pop up in the back of your mind. If we listen more with them have to cry, my babies cry when they need attention. What gets our attention is to be on the rooftop crying out. I want to just go back to that feeling that something's not right too. If you have wisdom or you're constantly asking for wisdom and things like that, just being able to feel that little something's not right with this decision leads you to go farther into finding out why, I think. Because a lot of the times you can just look at something and go, that does not smell right. And it's not. Something ain't right. Yeah, that's just starting to look right. The decision is now. Now, now, now. A thorough source of wisdom would be God's Word, of course. Proverbs is the most, you know, the biggest source of wisdom I ever found. It's not the only place, though. There are a lot of sources of wisdom. There's wisdom that comes of the flesh. There's wisdom that comes from on high. But Glenn, what? As pastor, you've passed on some wisdom to me. And the wisdom can be passed from person to person too. Well, that would be my job, part of it. Learning to keep my mouth shut. Learning to keep your mouth shut is definitely listening to wisdom. Yesterday, I was referred to as a troublemaker. Say it again. I was referred to as a troublemaker. You were referred to as a troublemaker. I don't want to hear that. And the person that said that, when I was at a restaurant and seated in the dining area, I was sitting over here, he was sitting over here on the other side. And I saw my way because I hadn't seen him in a long time. And he was one of his, and she is a trouble maker. Everybody in there can hear. Well, one of the things, one of the things that... What did you do? Did you accidentally spill your water on the next table? No. The manager was walking through and everything and I said, come here. I said, he referred to me as a troublemaker. So I want you to go over there and tell him. I had shrimp and they're little with cormorant and they have jalapenos in it. I said, well they need more jalapenos and it's not enough. So go over there and tell him he needs to put more jalapenos in it. So we went over there and she said you referred to her as a troublemaker. And she wants me to tell you, you need more jalapenos in this. So, that was me being a troublemaker back then. Well, one thing Wisdom will teach you is that your reputation, whatever it is, good, bad, or otherwise, will definitely come back around to visit you. Went over there and was talking to him. I've known him for 15 years. And he told the people that he was sitting there with a couple. And he says, she is the same as she was 15 years ago. She looks the same. She acts the same. She is the same as she was 15 years ago. And he said, she's still in trouble. Well, except for that last part, that would have been a compliment. There's one thing it tells us in this chapter about wisdom that would be worth remembering. And she says, all the words of my mouth are in righteousness. There is nothing forward or perverse in them. They are all plain to him that understandeth, and right to them that find knowledge. Receive my instruction, and not silver, and knowledge rather than choice gold. For wisdom is better than rubies, and all things that may be desired That covers a lot of territory. Not all of them are bad. Nothing wrong with silver and gold. No. But if you have to choose between any of that, whatever it is, or wisdom. Choose wisdom. Choosing wisdom is always the better choice. So when I see a nice expensive part for my race car, and I buy groceries instead, I have a little bit of wisdom there. I'll be sleeping in that thing with my wife. He puts the groceries in the race car and then goes over it. Well, if you take the wisdom and knowledge and understanding, it's going to lead to the rupees and the golds and the silvers because of what you're going to put forth because of the wisdom that you receive. All right. Learning to love wisdom. I think that's the point for a day. Learn to love wisdom. Is it all right with you, honey, if I love that other lady? Wisdom? In that case, yes, yes, yes.
