Proverbs 21.27 says the sacrifice of the wicked is abomination. How much more when he bringeth it with a wicked mind? This proverb speaks against the offerings of the wicked worshiping false gods, as well as the hypocrisy among professing believers whose shallow, faithless sacrifices for show are themselves a wicked abomination in God's eyes. In this devotional, we'll consider that first type of the wicked sacrifice. As it says, the sacrifice of the wicked is abomination. Any sacrifice made by man that is not on God's terms is wicked. And that reminds us of Cain in Genesis 4, 3 through 5. And in process of time it came to pass that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord. And Abel he also brought of the firstlings of his flock, and of the fat thereof. And the Lord had respect unto Abel and to his offering. But unto Cain and to his offering he had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell." The Word Faith cult perverts this account by claiming that Cain's problem was that he didn't offer his offering with faith. These heretics actually claim that if Cain had offered his salad with some sort of faith, then God would have received it. But that's utterly absurd and anti-biblical. How do we know Cain didn't bring his offering by faith? Because it was a salad. Hebrews 9.22 says, And almost all things are by the law purged with blood, and without shedding of blood is no remission. Cain demonstrated his lack of faith by the very fact that he brought a vegetable offering instead of the animal offered with the shedding of blood as required by God. That's what made Abel's offering more excellent in Paul's inspired words in the book of Hebrews, chapter 11, verse four. By faith, Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts, and by it he being dead yet speaketh. Cain's bloodless offering demonstrated his lack of faith. Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. You demonstrate faith by your obedience to God's word. Don't get those backwards and get the cart before the horse. The same stands true today. All religion that is not based upon the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the only Savior of the world, is false religion. Only Jesus saves, and only faith in His shed blood in death on the cross, sealed by His victory over death when He rose from the dead and came out of that tomb, only That can save us lost sinners. Any other religion, any other offering for sin, any other so-called gospel is an abomination. No other sacrifice than that of Jesus will do. All other sacrifices offered by sinful man is the sacrifice of the wicked, and the sacrifice of the wicked is abomination. Being sincere It just makes a person sincerely wrong if they are sincerely offering any other sacrifice. Being a devout Hindu, or a devout Muslim, or a devout Catholic, or being devout in the practice of any other pathway to God or way of salvation which relies on any other basis than that of Jesus and His shed blood is wicked. John 14.6 clearly declares that Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. The way. No man cometh unto the Father but by me. We must settle this fact about our own salvation once and for all, and then seek to help other lost souls around us see this truth. It's a matter of eternal life and death. In the words of the great hymn, Jesus painted all, for nothing good have I, whereby thy grace to claim. I'll wash my garments white in the blood of Calvary's lamb. Jesus paid it all. All to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain. He washed it white as snow.
