Hello again, and welcome to the program. We're here with a little strength for today. We're talking about strength to conquer fear. The word fear is in the Bible 400 times, but 63 of those times it says, fear not. I'm reading in 1 Samuel chapter 20 verse number 1 where we read it came to pass after this also that the children of Moab and the children of Ammon and with them other besides the Ammonites came against Jehoshaphat to battle. Well, that's not going to be a good day. What? Not done. We go on. Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat saying there cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria. Well, it's not going to be party day at the palace. Something happens here. Three things happen. We read that Jehoshaphat feared. Who wouldn't? All these people are coming against you. You don't have any hope. And Jehoshaphat feared. Second thing he did was he set himself to seek the Lord. And the third thing he did was proclaim a fast throughout all Judah. Smart man. First Samuel 20, verse 13, it says that all Judah stood before the Lord with their little ones, their wives, and their children. See here. We got it in our mind that all we have to do is tuck our King James Bible under our arm and go to church every Sunday and then go home. do whatever you want, party time at the house. Well, things were serious and things are serious today. So not only did the king proclaim a fast throughout all Judah and he himself, he set himself to seek the Lord, but we find the families did the same thing. Let me read it again, verse 13. And all Judah stood before the Lord with their little ones, their wives and their children. Well, in response to them getting serious about prayer, we read that God said, be not afraid, nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's. Then he said, tomorrow go ye down against them. Yeah, the battle is not yours, but you got to get something done here. You're not just going to go home, sit in a rocking chair and enjoy a movie. No, the battle is not yours, it's God's, but tomorrow go ye down against them. Then look what he said. You shall not need to fight in this battle. Go down. Yeah, just do what you're told. Set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you. Fear not, nor be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord be with you. We find again and again in the scriptures that God waits for our action and then He reacts accordingly. For instance, trust in the Lord with all thine heart, lean not unto thine own understanding, in all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy path. Look at number one, our action, trust in the Lord. Number two, with all your heart, Number three, lean not unto thine own understanding. Number four, in all thy ways acknowledge him, his reaction, he shall direct thy path. So look at verse 20. They rose up in the morning around 10 o'clock. No, that's not what it says. They rose up early in the morning and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa. And what did he do? Got a bunch of swords together. No, it says he appointed singers under the Lord and that they should praise the beauty of holiness as they went. So they're going and they're singing. And when they began to sing and praise the Lord, the Lord set ambushments against the children of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, which were come unto Judah, and they were smitten. Back in Deuteronomy 20, there's another battle going on, and verse 1 says, When thou goest out to battle against thine enemies, and seeth horses and chariots and a people more than thou, be not afraid of them, for the Lord thy God is with thee. And so why did Jehoshaphat have the victory? Number one, he set himself to seek the Lord, Number two, he proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah. And number three, the families got serious, and that would be Andy Farther's being in charge. All Judah stood before the Lord with their little ones, their wives, and their children. Notice it says, with their wives. So obviously, Dad's in charge, and that's what's supposed to be happening in our homes today. It isn't, but it's supposed to be, and that's why we're not seeing much of the power of God. Let's get at it.
