Justified by Christ

Isaiah 53 has been described as the crown jewels of the Old Testament. Written 700 years before it took place, Isaiah prophecies with incredible accuracy and detail the coming of Christ and His work at Calvary.

Isaiah opens by asking 'who hath believed?' We consider what it means to believe and the difference between an academic understanding of Calvary and believing in a soul-saving way.

We then explore some of the phrases of this precious chapter, and focus our attention on the description of Christ as a 'righteous servant'. As we see Him suffer, the virtue of Calvary is made evident: that He should 'justify many'. Finally, verse 11 makes it plain how we can benefit from Christ's work and obtain justification - we recognise Him as our appointed Saviour and surety.
