When someone mentions a caveman, most people think of a filthy, barbaric pre-human who wears a coat of skin, carries a club, grunts, and hasn't discovered fire yet. But that cartoonish image is not only fictional, but it's absurd in the light of real history and science. In fact, men have never stopped living in caves, and tens of millions of people still live in caves to this very day. For example, you can travel to China and find more than 40 million people living in what are called Youdong cave dwellings. These are areas dug out into the faces and slopes of a plateau for the most part. They resemble the so-called rock city, Petra. Petra is in the region of Mount Sierre, according to the Bible, the land of the Edomites, the descendants of Esau, and also before them, the land of the giants. And today, it's located southeast of Israel in the territory of the modern state of Jordan. But one day Israel will escape there and be hidden in Petra in the wilderness and cared for by the Lord according to Revelation 12. There are other biblical references to what could be called cavemen. Judges 6-2, we see that Israel lived in caves because of the oppression of the Midianites. In Judges 20, 47 and 21, 13, we read of hundreds of men of the tribe of Benjamin living, quote, in the rock, end quote. From these men would come King Saul and Saul of Tarsus later known as the Apostle Paul. Hebrews 11.38 talks about the persecuted saints, quote, of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and in mountains and in dens and caves of the earth, end quote. And the oldest book of the Bible is Job, and we're told of people who live, quote, in caves of the earth, end quote. Job 30, verse six. The fact is there's no basis for pretending that men were once illiterate, uncivilized, grunting, smelly cavemen evolving toward what would become modern man. The evidence is actually to the contrary and is evidence for the truth of God's word and the existence of the God of the Bible. When you limit yourself to what is actually known and what is based upon provable fact, We see that the most ancient of human societies had great technology. Study the Egyptian pyramids and some other ancient structures. They demonstrated technology that we can't even duplicate today. And yet, we're to believe that just a few generations before that, humans were just now coming out of caves as almost animals? The Bible presents Adam and Eve as the original human couple. DNA evidence traces us back to one human couple. And Adam and Eve had the ability to communicate with language. At no time in human history did humans ever grunt. to communicate. They were intelligent, civilized. And Adam is called the first Adam in 1 Corinthians 15. And so it is written, the first man, Adam, was made a living soul. The last Adam was made a quickening spirit. Adam is compared to Jesus Christ, who is God manifest in the flesh. Adam was no grunting caveman. In Luke's genealogy, he traces from Mary's father, Heli, down through Seth, which, quote, was the son of Adam, which was the son of God, end quote. And so Adam was human. He was a sinner, but he was compared to Jesus, the Son of God. And in 1 Corinthians 15, 47, we read, the first man is of the earth, earthy, that's the first Adam. The second man is the Lord from heaven. People who reject the truth about the first Adam and adopt this evolutionary caveman fairy tale, They are rejecting the truth, but they are rejecting evidence for God, and they miss the truth about the second Adam, Jesus Christ, who is the Creator and Lord from heaven, who came as a man and dined for your sins, the Savior of the world.
