Well, boys and girls, you've
got a very special treat this morning because you've got a guest speaker
and it's Uncle Philip. He's going to come and talk to
you. Or Daddy Philip. OK. Ooh, what have we got here? In my bag. What have I got in
my bag? Ooh, that's magic. Babe, I had a bag of sweets. Right, I need some help this
morning. Right, if you want to help me,
I'll have a bag of sweets. I want you to help me to describe
my bag of sweets. What kind of sweets can you see
in a bag? You can see a red one. We have
a red soup. What flavour is it? It might be an orange flavour,
OK? What else can you see in there?
A yellow one. Matthew, you've got a white one
in there. Matthew, can you come and help me? Matthew, you come and help me. We're describing
this packet of treats, OK? Not the colour this time, Matthew. What else are we describing about
the treats? Feel them. Yeah, the shape. OK, what shape
do we go now? We've got frogs. Good, we have got frogs. What
else have we got? What's that on there? Huh? Baby, you've got to tell
me, what about how they feel? Yeah, some of them are soft.
Some of them are soft, and some of them are hard. So we're finding
out all about these type of sweets. We have red ones, yellow ones,
soft ones, hard ones. And what about what might be
in the sweets? Can anyone think? Sugar. Cookie sugar. You've got plenty.
What else? P numbers. Sorry? E-numbers. E-numbers. Really healthy E-numbers. Anything else? John? Animal fats. Animal fats? Yeah. Flavours.
Flavours. They've got different colours,
haven't they? So we know which ones are your
favourite colours again. You like red ones, do you? Yeah,
well done, good girl. I'll see you up there. You've
got some red ones. So we know all about these packaged
sweets. We don't send them sugar, caramels,
raisins, whipped tea. I can actually ask you questions
now about a couple of things. Hmm. Can somebody tell me two
colours of sweets you've got in this bag? Matthew's got his
brain really switched on well, doesn't he? Matthew? We've got
green and red. You know about these colours,
don't you? What else have we got Bethany, these bags of sweets?
Yellow and white. Yellow and white, well done.
You know, all that information is all in your head, isn't it?
All that information is in your brain, you know, all that. Now
some of you come to Sunday school, right? Some of you, I mean, you're
old, aren't you? Lucky there are ones when you
come to Sunday school. And you're learning lots and lots in the
Bible, the stories that we have. You don't have to go to Sunday
school. You can't go to Sunday school
yet. You're not Jacob yet. Your mum has been telling you
stories about Jesus. Don't they? You know about Jesus? It's all in the Bible and we
learn about it. It's about Judaism. It's the
things that we can enjoy if we know them. But it goes in our
head. If we want to enjoy this packet
of sweets, not enjoy it, what do we need to do? Taste it. We need to taste it. We need
to open the packet up and enjoy them. Put them in our mouths.
Enjoy them. That's completely different to knowing about them.
We can know anything about this packet of sweets and not enjoy
them. Sometimes we come to Sunday school,
we might know all about Jesus, What is it like to actually be
a Christian? We might know that it's disgusting. Do you think we're going to heaven?
The wonderful things that he's going to give us? It's all in
our heads. That's not really enjoying Mary
Jean, is it? I'm going to be a Catholic too. I'd like to say to you, we like
fun. I know you like terrifying stuff. Lee is eating sweets, quietly,
could you tell us what's it's like? Very nice. It's very nice. And Lee, what does it taste like? It tastes of strawberry. And
Lee's enjoying one, he's had one. He's told us it tastes of
strawberry. Now some of us here are Christians,
and we can tell you all the wonderful things that it's like to know
Jesus. We can tell you all the science facts, we can tell you
all these wonderful things, but unless you... Matthew, maybe
you can help me here. It's quite a difficult question. What do we need to do to have
our sense of dignity? Nobody's ever said that. So what
should we think? You think? Okay, we've given this dressing,
it's very good, thank you. Well done, you three. We'll get
our passengers used to this. What do you think we should do?
We can't actually enjoy Jesus in our own lives. We can't have
sin because we're afraid of trusting Jesus. Good, OK? So it's not
enough to know that Jesus is in our heads. We need to know
that it's fine to enjoy Jesus in our hearts and our lives,
don't we? Good. All right, then. We'll
listen really well.
