They didn't just have the old
men and the old women. They had all the generations from the
older to the youngest and they were all being taught the same
thing. Folks, you will never go wrong. You will never go wrong in church
building when you do it the way the Lord instructs us to in His
Word. That being said, we want to ask
you to turn your Bibles today to the book of Ezekiel chapter
18. Ezekiel chapter 18. I have a word for us today that
I know I've preached out this text before. I have it heavily
underlined and marked up in my Bible. But there's something
that just grabbed a hold of me the other day when I was in my
study. Something that grabbed my attention. And I want you
to consider this today. If you're here and you don't
know the Lord as your Savior, I want you to just stop Pay attention
to what God's Word says. There are two different types
of people in the world today. There are those that are saved
by God's amazing grace. Then there are those that are
not. There are those that have looked and lived. There are those
that have been bitten by sin and have died because they have
refused. We go back to the book of Numbers
and we think about that text. where the Israelites, as they
had, was on their journey, they began to argue and complain with
God. God put upon them this serpent. The serpent was taking the lives
of many. He heard the complaint, He heard
the woes of the children of Israel. And He instructed Moses, build
a brazen serpent, and hang it upon a pole for all the camp
to see. Folks, I want you to know something
today. They were instructed on how to live if they were bitten. Just like today, sin bites a
lot of people. As a matter of fact, Sin has
bitten every human being that has come into this world since
Adam and Eve. The only way to find life and
the only way to live is to do as God instructed the Israelite
of the book of Numbers. He told them if they would look
upon the serpent, they would live. I tell you today, if you
would look upon the Savior, as He hangs on Calvary's cross,
and as He was buried and rose again the third day, you look
upon that Savior, you too shall live and not die the eternal
death. The Bible states in Ezekiel 18
verse 1 down through verse 4, The word of the Lord came unto
me again, saying, What mean ye that ye use this proverb concerning
the land of Israel, saying the fathers have eaten sour grapes,
and the children's teeth are set on edge? As I live, saith
the Lord, God, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this
proverb in Israel. Behold, all souls are mine. I want you to stop right there,
sinner friend. I want you to get a hold of this.
Many today that I talk to in this world say, I'm going to
live my own life and I'm going to do my own thing and I'm going
to be my own boss. I don't want anybody telling
me what to do, especially when it comes to religion. I've heard
that and I've had men to stand in my face and just get so upset
because of a simple message of Jesus Christ and Him crucified.
But as we look at what we're seeing here today, we understand
that God says your soul belongs to Him. Your life belongs to God whether
you realize it or not. The Bible says all souls are
mine. As the soul of the Father, so
also the soul of the Son is mine. The soul that sinneth, it shall
die. There is no ifs, ands, or buts
about it. God's Word says the soul that
sinneth, it shall die. What does the book of Romans
tell us about the soul of man? That we all have sinned and come
short of the glory of God. Therefore, the soul that sinneth,
it shall and will die one day. Verse 21 of this same text of
Ezekiel 18 states this. And if the wicked will turn from
all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all of my statutes,
and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live. Now here's a contrast to the
first of the chapter. The first of the chapter definitely
says, The soul that sinneth, it shall die. Because why? Because
your soul belongeth unto the Lord. He demands something from
you as an individual. And here the demand is being
made forth and being brought into fruition. He says, He that
doth lawful and right, he shall surely live and shall not die. All his transgressions that he
hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him. You know
what, I look at that and I go back to Romans in chapter 5,
Romans in chapter 8, where we're talking about justification and
no condemnation. We see that word no condemnation. We're not condemned any longer.
Why? Because we have looked and we have lived. Before that, we
stood condemned to die because the Bible says that not only
does our soul belong to God, But that because of the sin we
have sinned, we shall die. Now, I'm not using that in the
physical sense, but in the spiritual sense. The soul that sinneth,
it shall die. The spiritual part of man. And
thus being born into this world, We are born into sin, the Bible
says. And as such, all of us are condemned
and confined to eternal death, outside of God's mercy, outside
of God's sovereign grace and amazing grace. Now where do you
stand today? The Bible goes on to say in verse
23, Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die, saith
the Lord God, and not that he should return from his ways and
live? But when the righteous turneth
away from his righteousness, and commiteth iniquity, and doth
according to all the abomination that the wicked man doth, shall
he live? All his righteousnesses that
he hath done shall not be mentioned in his trespass, that he hath
trespassed in his sin, that he hath sinned, in them shall he
die. Yet you say the way of the Lord
is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel,
today men will look at me and say, God is not just in sending
me to hell. But I have you to know today
that God's justice demands that we all find ourselves in the
pits of hell. That's God's justice. God's wrath
is poured upon those who reject Jesus Christ in the pits of hell. But to those who will look, they
shall live. And the wrath of Almighty God
will not fall upon them. You know why? Because the wrath
of Almighty God has fell upon His Son, Jesus Christ, in our
stead. That's the beauty of salvation.
That's the wonder and amazement that Jesus Christ came and died
for us and that if we look to Him, we shall live. Oh, is not my way equal, saith
God? is not our ways, speaking about
you and I, unequal. When the righteous man turneth
away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and
dieth in them, for his iniquity that he hath done, shall he die?
Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness, that
he hath committed and doth that which is lawful and right, he
shall save his soul alive, because he considereth and turneth."
Now, stop right there for just a moment. He is considered. What does Isaiah 118 speak to? God says, come now, let us reason
together, saith the Lord. That word reason there means
to consider. You need to stop right now, sinner
friend, to consider Your future. You need to stop right now and
consider even your past and realize that it's not necessarily all
the darkest sins that you've committed that's going to send
you to hell. It's the fact that you've been born into this world
with the blood of the first Adam coursing through your veins is
what's going to send you to hell. You see, men look at me and they
say, Well, preacher, I'm not all that bad. I'm really a pretty
good person. But you've got to realize you're
gauging yourself against humanity and not the God of heaven. It's
the God of heaven who is the just one to look upon. Now, as
we look at this scripture, The Bible says, Because he considereth
and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed,
he shall surely live, he shall not die. I want to bring a message this
morning entitled, Dying or Living? Which are you? Heavenly Father,
Lord, as we bow before your throne today, we do so with thankful
heart. Thank you, dear God, for your
great salvation. We thank you, dear God, for that
One that was hanged upon a tree, who gave His life that if we
would look to Him, we should live. Father, I'm praying that
this Old Testament Scripture would find lodgment in the heart
of the New Testament age, that those that are in this house
today who do not know the Savior will realize that just being born into this
world is enough to send an individual to hell because we are born with
the blood of the first Adam, the fallen Adam. We need to be
reborn by the blood of the second Adam as he covers and paid the
sin debt. Lord, I pray that you open the
eyes of the blind in here today. Lord, that you would move upon
their hearts and you would draw them unto thyself and help the
lost sinner today to realize there is no other way but Jesus
Christ and Him crucified, hanging upon a tree, and if we look to
Him, we shall live. Oh, Father, today I pray, open
the eyes of the blind and unstop the year of the death. Lord, I pray that you'll crush
the stony heart Lord, that you would reveal yourself unto lost
sinners in this house. Draw them by thy power, Lord. Call them out by name. Help them
today to look to the only Savior that'll save them from all their
sin. Lord, I pray that you'll bless
and you would touch my lips. This old tongue of clay, Lord,
move upon my mind. Help me, dear God, to say what
thus saith the Lord. Help me today, dear God, to say
what you want me to say. Lord, we pray that you'll open
the eyes of those that are not even in this house today. They
may be out in radio land or somewhere listening by sermon audio somewhere
around this world. Oh, dear God, today I pray that
you open the eyes You would help them to see the need that they
have, that we might see souls saved in this place today. Lord
bless, I pray. Forgive us our sin in Christ's
name. Amen. Emmanuel to our visiting
friends and our radio audience. The word of God declares, the
soul that sinneth, it shall die. And according to the New Testament
readings, The Bible says all have sinned and come short of
the glory of God, and that is you and I together. Another scripture of God's Word
says and lays open the fact that since there is none righteous,
death is a certainty for all humanity. As a matter of fact,
in Hebrews 9, verse 27, the Bible says, And as it is appointed
unto men once to die, and after this the judgment, but as a certainty
some may look and live, dying or living, which are you? We
travel back to the exodus of the Israelite as they fled Egypt. The people began to speak against
God because of their hardship during the journey. Notice what
God did. Let's go back to the book of
Numbers for just a moment. Numbers in chapter 21. Now I
want you to think about this. I want you to think about your
own life right now. Think about where you're at.
Think about what you're doing. Think about the things in life
and the things that the Word of God has stated here in His
Scriptures. The Bible says in Numbers 21, beginning at verse 4, They journeyed
from Mount Hor by the way of the Red Sea to come past the
land of Edom. And the soul of the people was
much discouraged because of the way. In other words, they had
a hard journey. They began to bicker and complain. They began to become very bitter.
And the people spake against God and against Moses. Wherefore have you brought us
up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no bread,
neither is there any water, and our soul loatheth this light
bread. The Lord sent fiery serpents
among the people, and they bit the people, and much of the people
of Israel died. Therefore the people came to
Moses and said, We have sinned, For we have spoken against the
Lord and against thee, praying to the Lord that he may take
away the serpents from us. And Moses prayed for the people. And the Lord said unto Moses,
Make thee a fiery serpent, and set it upon a pole. And it shall
come to pass that every one that is bitten, when he looketh upon
it, shall live. and Moses made a serpent of brass
and put it upon a pole. And it came to pass that if a
serpent had bitten any man, when he beheld the serpent of brass,
he lived. I want you to just for a moment
to think about where you're at right now. As I stated, the Bible
states that all of us have sinned and come short of the glory of
God. Therefore, we're bitten by that sin. And there is only
one way that we are going to survive the bite of sin. The bite of sin will leave you
with nothing but eternal death. It will leave you with damnation.
The bite of sin will destroy your physical and spiritual body. So what are you to do? The bite
of sin needs to be addressed. It ought to be addressed in this
very moment, in this very setting where we're at here today in
the house of God. Today if you're here and you're
lost, you don't know the Lord is your Savior. You're sin bitten
and you're dying and you need to understand that without the
cure you're going to die and go to eternal death in a lake
of fire. Now this is Bible. This is not
A myth as many people look at the Bible today and they say
well the Bible is a Bible that is a book that is nothing but
myths. Men today have found out once they've died without the
Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior. They have found out that the
Bible is not a myth. The rich man when he died, the
Bible says he lifted up his eyes being in torment. Folks, hell is real. The Bible
is not a myth. The Word of God is sure. And
just like the rich young man who had torn down all of his
barns because he had so much, he began to brag about what he
was going to do. And the God said today, thy soul
shall be required of thee. As a matter of fact, he called
him a fool because he had not regarded the God of heaven. He
had not thanked God for any of all His goodness and all of His
goods. And God said, Today thy soul
shall be required of thee. What if thy soul should be required
of thee this very hour? By the time that the clock strikes
twelve, What if thy soul should be required of thee sometime
in the next 20 to 25 minutes? What would be your fate? What would be the ending? Again,
I use words like that very carefully because there is no end to eternity. And all of us, whether you realize
it or not, are eternal beings. some eternal beings into life
and to life, and some eternal beings from death unto death.
Some eternal beings in a place called heaven, others are eternal
beings in a place consigned in the pits of hell. Where even
today the rich man that lifted up his eyes as he had spoke of
Lazarus, that rich man is still begging for that one drop of
water. The same principle of Numbers
21 rules even in this New Testament age in which we now live. Our image to look upon is Jesus
Christ upon the cross of Calvary dying in our place. Dying and
being buried and resurrected the third day that we may live
eternally and have eternal life. Dying or living. Which are you? First of all, I want to touch
on this matter for just a moment. Are you now living in sin? Have
you been made guilty for sin? You know, as I look across this
congregation of this great crowd, I think about the individuals
who have never made a profession of faith, and I wonder what your
thoughts may be going across your mind even now. I wonder
what you're thinking about in eternity to come. What's it going
to be like for you? Ezekiel, again we go back to
the book of Ezekiel in chapter 18. The Bible states this in verse
4. Behold, all souls are mine, saith
the Lord. That's what God says. Your soul
belongs to the Almighty God of Heaven. He says, Behold, all
souls are mine, as the soul of the Father, so also the soul
of the Son is mine. The soul that sinneth, it shall
die. Verse 20 again, the Bible says,
The soul that sinneth, it shall die. Folks, I want you to know
something. God didn't put this in here just
to take up room. As we look at this scripture
here, you have to realize that this is a scripture that should
grab your attention. Twice said, even here in these
first few verses of scripture, the soul that sinneth it shall
die. In Romans 3, We go back to the
New Testament. A lot of people, they'll look
at me and say, well, you're just dealing with the Old Testament.
Well, let's go to the New Testament. Romans 3 and verse 19, notice
what it says here. Now we know that what things
soever the law saith, it saith to them that are under the law,
that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become
guilty before God. I'm speaking to every soul in
this house, whether you're a saved sinner or a lost sinner. Ask
yourself this question. Am I sinning against the Holy
God of Heaven? Is my life a life that's a picture
of sin against the Holy God of Heaven? And if it is, if you're
saved by the grace of God, the Holy Spirit has already dealt
with you over this. You see, that's the wonder of
the Holy Spirit. Every time we sin, He pricks
our hearts. He lets us know, hey, that's not right. God's
Word says otherwise. God's Word says what you're doing
is wrong. We need to realize that, and
I know we do. If you're saved by God's amazing
grace, the very moment that we step out of line, God's Word
and God's Holy Spirit touches us and causes us to realize that
we have sinned, and again, we've come short of the glory of God.
And what's it designed to do? To draw us unto God and say,
Lord, forgive me, for I once again have sinned against thee
and against heaven. You know what that does? That
refurbishes our relationship with God. That makes our relationship
possible. I'm talking about our communion
with God possible. You see, God does not bless unrighteousness. It doesn't matter what you think
about unrighteousness. It's not the greatest sins in
the world that causes God to turn away from us. It could be
just as simple turning cold to the God of heaven and losing
your first love and walking away from God. Brother Jim brought
that out this morning. Listen, when we walk away from
God, We're asking for trouble not only for ourselves but for
our children under us, for our grandchildren that are coming
along, for all who are coming behind us. We need to be careful
to save the Son of God. Think about it. The Word of God declares that
all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Being born
into this old sin-cursed earth because of the sin of Adam and
Eve, bad blood courses through our veins. And as such, sin has
passed on through association with Adam, the first Adam, and
all have become sinful, including you and I. Today you may be sitting
in this house, a lost individual, and you may be thinking, well,
I'm not all that bad. I come to church. I give to the
church. I'm good to my neighbor. I do
the things that I'm supposed to do. I'm a good, outstanding
person. But what does the Bible say?
The Bible says there's none that doeth good. No, not one. That's what God says. Remember,
a lot of times we as humanity gauge ourselves off of humanity. When we need to be gauging ourselves
off of God and His holiness, The very moment that you gauge
yourself against the Holy God of Heaven, you realize you're
coming up short. You need to be saved by God's
amazing grace. I go back and I think about Romans
1, verse 18 down through verse 32, and man, I tell you what,
that's a scripture that ought to get a hold of our hearts.
It's where the wrath of God begins to be poured out upon sinful
flesh. You know why? Because when we knew God as God,
we did not respect Him as God. You have been told how God sent
His Son to die on the cross of Calvary to pay your sin debt,
yet we regard Him not. We turn away from Him as if He
is nothing. God says we've all become guilty. We are without excuse. We are without excuse. Now secondly,
I want you to think about this. Dying in your sin, do you realize
that one day you will stand before the holy God of heaven? Ezekiel 18 and 20 again, the
Bible says, The soul that sinneth it shall die. The son shall not
bear the iniquity of the father, neither the father bear the iniquity
of the son. The righteousness of the righteous
shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. What's that saying? You say,
is that a proverb or is that some kind of riddle that I need
to figure out? What it is, is this. You're going to give an
account for your own life. Nobody else. You're not going
to be able to blame your father, your mother. You're not going
to be able to blame your wicked uncle or your aunt or whatever
it may be. Many today blame all of their
sin upon somebody that they knew. I heard a young man tell me one
time, the reason why that I'm an alcoholic is because of what
I saw somebody else do. Listen, I want you to know something. You cannot blame anybody. The
world today wants you to be able to blame everybody but yourself.
That's what we see going on in the world today, is that nobody
wants to be responsible for their own life and well-being. Everybody
wants to blame everybody else when it comes right down to it,
it's your own fault. Because when you knew God, listen,
I want you to stop and consider this with me. What does God's
Word say? You're not going to give an account
for your father, for the sins that he has committed,
for his drunkenness, for his waywardness, for all the things
that you want to blame him for, for the reason that you are what
you are and how you are today. Listen, you cannot blame your
father. You get into the realm of socialism
today and that's where they'll take you. You've got to blame
somebody else. You can't take that for yourself. That's what
socialism will do for you. But I want you to think about
this for just a moment. I've known men and women who have
had drunkard fathers who have never touched a drop. I know
men and women who have had wicked parents and people who have abandoned
them to be some of the greatest parents you will ever see in
life. You are going to give an account
for your own life, my friend. You need to be aware of that
because it is coming. The Bible states this. In Ezekiel 18 and 4 again, Behold,
all souls are mine. As the soul of the Father, so
also the soul of the Son is mine. And the soul that sinneth, it
shall die. Where? Think about this. Where will
all this transpire? You go back to Psalm 69 for just
a moment. Psalm 69. Please turn there in
your Bibles with me. Psalm 69 verse 21. Notice with me here what it says. They gave me also gall for my
meat, and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. Let their
table become a snare before them, and that which should have been
for their welfare let it become a trap. Let their eyes be darkened
that they see not, and make their loins continually to shake. Pour out thine indignation upon
them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them. Let their
habitation be desolate, and let none dwell in their tents. For
they persecute him whom thou hast smitten. They talk to the
grief of those whom thou hast wounded. Add iniquity into their
iniquity, and let them not come into thy righteousness. Let them
be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written
with the righteous. Have you ever stopped to consider
what these words mean? Have you ever stopped to consider
what Jesus Christ went through on the cross of Calvary? Have
you ever considered as He cried out and they said He's a thirsting
and they stuck an old sponge of old sour vinegar in His mouth? If you ever considered the fact,
as they looked upon Him, as the Bible says, as the bulls of Beth-shan. And they looked upon Me and they
gaped upon Me with their mouths. As they would make fun of Him
there on the cross of Calvary. And they would tell Him, if thou
be the Son of God, come down and save thyself. And as they
walked by the cross that day, they were all making fun of Jesus
Christ as He hanged there on the cross of Calvary. In His
nakedness, as He hanged there, they laughed at Him. They mocked
Him. They ridiculed Him and they belittled
Him. There were a lot of people there
that day. There's a lot of people there,
and there was a lot of people that died. As I look and I go
back and I think about Matthew 27, when in that moment, when
Jesus Christ gave up the ghost, the soldier that was standing
by said, Surely this was the Son of God. But how late it was for so many,
too late. Just like it's going to be in
today's society when Jesus Christ comes and he calls his chosen,
his people home. One day it's going to be too
late for you. I hear these young boys pray
a prayer. Lord, save them before it's eternally
too late. The moment that you die and you
pass from this life to the next, it's eternally too late for you.
Eternally too late. But those who live and live,
they have Jesus Christ standing in their stead. You see in Revelation 20 verse
11 down through verse 15, you have what is known as the great
white throne judgment seat of God. There the Bible says as
that man, woman or whoever it is stands before the God of heaven
there, the Bible says heaven and earth flee away. It's just
you and God. I can't even begin to imagine
as the Bible speaks here about the loins of man shaking so fiercely. I can't imagine and I thank God
I don't have to imagine for me because I'm not going to be standing
there for I've truly trusted the Lord as my Savior. But how
many will be standing there? The Bible says, Hell hath enlarged
herself. Why? Because people continue
to refuse the Lord Jesus Christ and Him crucified. They are caught unawares. They are
caught unprepared. They never look to live. They
turn their faces and die. That's what's happening all across
this world today. People are turning away from
God and they're dying without Jesus Christ as their Savior.
You know what their end is? Their end is a confinement to
the pits of hell. Today, Jesus Christ is taking
the place of those who look and live. Having died in their stead,
paying their just due, Matthew 27, 45-54, we see Jesus Christ
at the moment of darkness. At the moment that He cried out,
Eli, Eli, lemai sabachthani. That is to say, My God, My God,
why hast thou forsaken Me? He forsook His only Son because
He was taking our sins upon His shoulders. And the God of heaven
is so holy that He wouldn't even look upon His own Son when He
placed upon Him our sins. He turned His back on His only
Son. And Jesus Christ knew at that moment that God had turned
away from Him. You know why? Because He was
getting ready to suffer our wrath on His self. I can sit here now and say that
and I've got chills all over my whole body to think about
that. He died for me. And he took God's,
all of God's wrath that I should have had. This is the hour Jesus Christ
faced the wrath of God in our place. willingly suffering your
just due, willingly facing the God of heaven, will you not look
to Him and live today? Or will you be the one of Revelation
20, 11-15 standing with nowhere to hide and nowhere to run and
no place to get away from? Now lastly, I want you to consider
this with me. Think about the alternative here. The people of the book of Numbers
in 21, they were dying, period. They were dying. And they died
because of their own negligence of God. They began to talk about
God and talk down about God. They began to sin against the
holy God of heaven just like we do every day. The Bible says God sent serpents
upon them and they bit them and they died. They began to cry
out to Moses, please have the Lord of God of heaven just to
turn away from these serpents. Get them out of here. For we
have sinned. They recognized their sin, didn't
they? They've been made guilty. Oh,
I pray today that you're made guilty. But you know what? Guilt alone will not save you. There's not one innocent person
in hell today. They've all become guilty. They've
all become to know that Jesus Christ died for sinners. They've
all become guilty before the holy God of heaven. But if you turn, you shall live. Just like the people of Numbers
21, as they looked upon the serpent, the brazen serpent, The Bible
says they lived. You look upon your brazen servant,
Jesus Christ, the Lord and Savior. You look upon Him as He hanged
on the cross of Calvary. As He was buried, look upon Him.
And as He rose again victorious the third day, look upon the
Savior who was your beneficiary. He was the one who gave you life. and is even now willing to accept
all who will come unto Him. John 1.11, the Bible says, He
came unto His own, but His own received Him not. In verse 12,
the Bible says, But as many as received Him, to them gave He
power to become the sons of God, even to them that what? Believe
upon His name. Ezekiel 18 and 5, I'm going to
look at this and I'm going to have to hurriedly come to a close
here in just a moment. But I want you to think about
this now. Verse 5 of Ezekiel 18 says, But
if a man be just and do that which is lawful and right. Think about it. What was lawful
and right today? The book of Acts tells us that
God commands men everywhere to repent. That's you and I. That's
all of us. That's lawful and right. Because
number one, God commands it. Number two, God sent His Son
to die in your place. When the Israelite turned and
looked, they lived and did not die. That will happen to you
today as well. You turn and look to Jesus and
you'll live and you'll not die. John, we go back in our closing
remarks now. The Bible states this in John
chapter 3. You knew where I was going. Verse 15, the Bible says that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting
life. Look and live, my friend. What
are you doing today? What is your state right now?
Are you living or are you dying? Do you know the Lord Jesus Christ
as your Savior or are you right now without Him? John chapter
5 verse 24 says, Verily, verily, I say unto you, he that heareth
my word, listen to me, he that heareth my word, listen, here's
the way of hope, he that heareth my word, and believeth on him
that sent me hath everlasting life, and shall not come into
condemnation, but is passed from death unto life. John 14 and
6, Jesus Christ as He is speaking here, He states this, Jesus saith
unto him, speaking unto Thomas, I am the way, He's the way my
friend, He's the only way. He says I'm the truth and I am
the life. No man cometh unto the Father
but by me. I want to use this last scripture
here, and I want you to consider it. The Bible says in Acts 2
and verse 37, Now when they heard this, what had they heard how
that Jesus Christ had died at Calvary? How that it was by their
own hands that He died, just like it's by your own hand today
that He died. It's by your own sin. It's the reason why Jesus Christ
died. Now knowing when they heard this,
they were tricked in their heart. In other words, they were convicted
in their heart. They were made guilty. And said unto Peter and the rest
of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Are you asking
that question today? Do you want to live or do you
want to die? You want to live, you need to be asking the question,
What shall I do? What is my responsibility? What
should I do? The Bible says, Come unto the
Father. The Bible says, Repent of your sin. In other words,
be sorry for your sin. Be sorry for your life as a sinner.
Confess the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. And He says, I will
save you. Then Peter said unto them, Repent,
and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ
for or because of the remission of sin. Would you not today? Would you not do as others have?
There were others in that day, they looked to the serpent In
the middle of the camp, there it was. I mean, that's the only
way they was going to live. And sinner friend, it's the only
way you're going to live today. You've got to look to the Savior.
Where's He at? Right now, He's in the middle
of the camp. Right now, He's right in the middle, in the midst
of all of us. You say, well, how can you say that? Well, I
like to go back to Romans 10 and 8, where the Bible says,
but what saith it? The word is nigh thee, even in
thy mouth and in thy heart. That is the word of faith which
we preach. That if thou shalt confess in
thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart
that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. That's it, my friend. Now, are you going to live? Or
are you going to die? What are you going to do? I pray
today that you live. I pray today that you look to
Jesus and live. I pray today that you understand
that it's only Him that can save you. Talking to a man this morning,
I said that's the only way, my friend. Jesus Christ and Him
crucified, there is no other way. It isn't done by our good
works. It's not done by anything other than Jesus Christ and Him
crucified, hanging upon a tree, being buried and raised again
that we might have life and have it more abundantly. Will you
live or will you die? Eternal death. You know, I've
heard people say, well, once you die, it's all over with. No. Eternal death. Think about it. Think about the
act of eternal death. Eternal death is something that
I couldn't even begin to phantom because I've never experienced
death itself. But those who have died, especially
those who have died without the Lord, just like the rich man,
he lifted up his eyes being in torment, and it's a continual
torment. Death is tormentuous. For death
is something that you cannot elude. It's coming for all of
us. Are you ready? Will you live or will you die? Let's all stand, please. O Most Gracious and Divine Heavenly
Father, Lord, as I bow before your throne, I do so with thankful
heart. I know, dear God, that even this
morning you have spoke to this heart of this pastor. Lord, you
have moved upon my lips the words that you wanted me to say, and
I feel without any hesitation, and I'm very confident in the
fact that the message that was delivered was a message that
you wanted this people to hear. Lord, I pray for the lost sinner
here today. Help them to understand the only
way to find life is to look to Jesus. Oh, Father, I pray that
you'll cause people today to repent of sin and trust Jesus
Christ as Savior. Confess Him as Lord and Savior
of the world. Father, we pray that you'll bring
salvation to lost souls and bless the saved that's in this house
