Amen. Well, it's a joy to be
here. I'm telling the pastor I had to be in Asheville this
morning. I've been on the road all day, it seems like. I feel
like I've been to Egypt and back. Of course, if you've been to
Asheville, you've been to Egypt. That's about the truth of it. It's called,
they're making reference to it being the San Francisco of the
East Coast and trying to make what they have out on the West
Coast what we will have here. But anyway, I thought I had everything
lined up and on our timing and everything. That didn't hardly
work out, and it very seldom ever does. But anyway, I appreciate
you going on, carrying on the service, and felt the presence
of the Lord when I walked in. Amen. I appreciate that. A lot
of times you can go to a service and be there two or three hours
and not feel the presence of the Lord. It's good to be in
the house of God. Amen. And I was telling the pastor,
I know when we booked the meeting that I told him that I'd be here,
plan to be here. We booked Monday through Friday.
But I really felt impressed that I needed to be at our church
last night. And I didn't mean to throw y'all in a tailspin
or cause any problems there. But I definitely needed to be
there. And the Lord did a great work. In our church, we've had
some people that's, you know, had that far away look in their
eye. Still coming to church, they're there bodily, but that's
it. Hello. I'm not going to ask your pastor
if he has any like that. But I about know every pastor
does. They're there bodily, but they're
not there spiritually. I wonder how many, don't raise
your hand, but I wonder how many here tonight is here bodily.
but you're not here spiritually. You've been in the service the
whole time, physically, but where's your mind been? Did you know
you cannot worship God without your mind? Now I know that's
just a simple statement, but that's the truth. And I'm not
talking about, you know, unconscious. I'm talking about being in here
physically, but your mind's elsewhere. Are you listening? Now the preacher,
see the preacher can't just come in and sit down on a pew and
rear back and enjoy the cushion. He's got to have his mind on
the service. He's got to have his mind on
what's going on. But a member or just someone
sitting in the pew can slide in there after a day's work,
wore out, tired, sit on that comfortable pew and your mind
can be watching TV, your mind can be listening to a country
song or a rock song, or kids can be playing a video game in
their mind. Hello. You can be catching a
fish in your mind. It happens in church. Amen. Of course, if I went to
some of the churches that people go to, I believe I'd just about
soon be sitting on a bank catching a fish. But I'm not talking about
being on a bank catching a fish. I'm talking about being on a
pew catching a fish. Say amen right there. How many
Sunday morning services... I'm preaching good already. How
many Sunday morning services have the legs cut out from under
it because people sit there while the man of God preaches thinking,
where are we going to go eat after service? Amen. You can't worship God without
the engagement of your mind, the involvement of your mind.
And I prayed there a while ago, Lord bring in the wonderings
of our mind. Captivate our attention. God's
got to have your attention. Amen. Is He speaking to us tonight? Can I have your attention, please? That's what the word behold means. Behold, behold I stand at the
door and knock. What's he saying with the word
behold? Can I have your attention please? Amen. Does he have your attention
tonight? Does he have our attention? Outside
this church, at home, at work, does he have our attention? Amen. I believe Paul knew what he was
talking about when he said, to be carnally minded is death. You know, we independent Baptists,
you know, we've confined carnality to just be a two or three item
subject. You know, I'll tell you right
now, I'm not carnal. I dress right. And I believe
you should. But you can dress right and be
as worldly and carnal as you can be. Amen. Well, I tell you, I don't do
this and that. Well, you can have a bunch of
don'ts in your life and still be carnal. Some of the most wicked,
trouble-causing people that I've ever had in the ministry had
a bunch of do's and don'ts in their life. Yeah, people wasn't trippin'
over the lady's dress, they was trippin' over her tongue. Your dress don't impress me if
you've got a forked tongue ten foot long. Critical gossip, tailbearing,
always stirring up strife. Amen preacher! Well, amen. That's good already. God helped
us to be involved in the house of God mentally. Amen. You ought to try to get prepared
for church before you get here. Amen. Mentally. Get your mind
right. Get your heart right. Amen, it's
hard to do that, you know, if you don't get in prayer and just
get in somewhere. You know, most times Sunday mornings
is such a hassle and a rush and, you know, just a rush, rush. If you're not careful, that's
the way you'll come through them doors in that same gear and that same
mentality. And, you know, God says be still. and know that I'm God. Sometimes
we need to just get quiet before the Lord and let God help us
tonight. Amen. Well, I know without a
doubt God wants me to preach out this. Matthew chapter number
11. If you'll open your Bibles there, please. And we'll look
at this passage of Scripture together tonight. A very familiar
passage, but I trust that God will help us to not allow the
familiarity of the Scripture tonight to rob us of attention. The Bible said in verse 28 of
Matthew's Gospel, chapter number 11, come unto me, this is Jesus
speaking now, come unto me all ye that labor and are heavy laden
and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you And learn
of me, for I am meek and lowly in heart, and ye shall find rest
unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden
is light. Let's pray. Father, thank you
for the reading of your precious, inspired, infallible, preserved
Word of God. We thank you for that today.
We pray, Lord, that you will help us tonight, Lord, to be
mindful, sensitive, and be directed, Lord, of the Holy Spirit. Lord,
I pray that you'll get on us tonight, Lord, with that unction
that makes preaching challenging, that Lord puts conviction in
our life, puts a desire in us, Lord, to want to turn from sin
and carnality and flesh and self and turn unto you and to follow
you as a sheep and as a disciple, Lord, unashamed of you. Lord, I pray that you will help
us tonight. Dear God, to get personal tonight
with this church. Lord, I know that general truth
will not be responded to, but personal truth will. So I pray
that you will challenge us tonight, confront us, deal with us, stir
us up, Lord. Do that that will produce lasting
fruit in our life. May there be evidence and may
there be fruit at the judgment seat of Christ out of this service
tonight. Lord, may we all pray tonight
that we will never be the same as a result of the service tonight.
Not because of personalities, not because of any particular
person's presence, but because you come and because you moved
in this place and we responded. It's one thing, Lord, for you
to move. It's one thing for you to speak. It's one thing, Lord,
for you to work. But it's another for us to yield. It's another, Lord, for us to
say, yes, Lord. I pray you help us tonight. In
Jesus' name we pray. Amen. Of course, I'm not going
to preach on these, but there are three words here that stand
out that are very important, and I'm just really going to
look at one of them tonight. There is the word come, take,
and learn. Note those three words. Those
three words identify responsibility. Come, take, and learn. All three of these words are
in the active voice. So what does that mean? That
means the subject is the doer of the action. Amen. Who's the subject? You are. The one he's talking to. Come
unto me. That is, you do it. Take my yoke
upon you. That is, you do it. Say amen
right there. Learn of me. That is, you do
it. You know why we don't have revival?
We're not doing what God is telling us that it's our responsibility
to do. Write it down in your heart.
Revival is a responsibility subject. Amen! Deadness comes in the church. Distance comes in the church.
Defilement comes in a church when we fail to be responsible. I make this little statement
everywhere I go. I've made it for years. And it's
been one statement, I guess, probably has done as much to
stir our church as any one statement. And that is, it's a happy day
in your life when you realize that your spirituality is your
responsibility. I've had people that's been in
church for years upon years. Other churches came and hear
that statement. And they said, preacher, we've
never heard that before. We've never thought of it in
that fashion. How many church folk think it's
the preacher's business for you to be spiritual? That's why a
lot of preachers have ulcers. Say amen right there. I'm a victim
of ulcers. That's why preachers, many of
them are about two inches from quitting, is because they're
not only carrying their own load and trying to maintain their
own spirituality, but they're trying to carry the spirituality
of the church, they're trying to carry the spirituality of
the young people, they're trying to carry the spirituality of
the ladies, and also the men. And God never intends, you hear
me now, God never intends for one person to be spiritual enough
for two people. Hello! Write it down, friend,
that comes straight off the press. I'll have to write that down
when I get home, if I don't forget it. God never expects one person
to try to carry the spirituality of two people or more. Because
when you try to do that, then you've spread out and your spirituality
is suffering. I think the Shulamite had it
right in Song of Solomon chapter 1. Other vineyards have I kept,
but mine own vineyard have I not kept. You're not careful. Mamas, you'll get so busy with
your children and watching after them, and that is your job, and
that is your ministry, and that is your responsibility. But if
you're not careful, your spirituality will go out the window. Daddy's
if you're not I didn't get up here to preach none of this Hey,
man, I'm telling you when you if you're not careful, you'll
be so busy. You're doing what's right Amen providing for your
family provided for your home at this if you're not careful
business will produce backsliding I've often said it and I believe
it that if the devil can't get you back slid He'll just get
you busy and accomplish the same thing. I I believe that, don't
you? Amen. Amen. Young people, if
you're not careful, you'll get so distracted. You'll get so
preoccupied with other things. Amen. And before you know it,
look around and you're wondering where in the world God is in
your life. Amen. Responsibility. I can preach
right there, and I'll tell you what, your flesh don't like it.
My flesh don't like it. I want that spirituality that's
automatic. But I haven't found that in the
Bible. Amen? Hey, write it down. You'll never
be spiritual accidentally. It'll never be accidental that
you're spiritual. Your spirituality will be intentional
when you on purpose make choices that is conducive to your spiritual
life. Amen. That's right. Hello. Amen, Jesus. Help us now. That's right, isn't
it? Amen. Our churches would have
so much power in it that sinners couldn't stand it. Like Psalms
1 presents, that sinners cannot stand in the congregation of
the righteous. There ought to be so much light
in here that people of darkness can't stand it. They'll either
have to get in or get out. It's not that we run them off,
it's that they're so convicted, and that they're so condemned
by the light of God's Word, and the holiness of His presence,
that they can't stand it, and they have to get right. Where's
the conviction at in our church? Sinners, in fact, sinners, most
of the time, when they leave the church, they can shake our
hand and say, we enjoyed it. You know what that is? A slap
in the face when sinners can come in and listen to holy music,
holy songs, listen to holy Sunday school lessons, listen to holy
preaching. And my friend, about the holy
Son of God and the holiness of God. And they can enjoy it. You
know why? We're missing that old time Holy
Ghost conviction. Sinners don't mind us having
good services. Y'all better just perk up now,
amen? Because I didn't get up here
to say none of what I've been saying. Amen? Are you listening? Oh yes, friend! They don't mind
us having good singing and they don't mind it being somewhat
lively. Now they don't want no conviction.
They don't want none of that. They can't handle that. Amen?
God help us. Well, that's right. I'm gonna
try to get off of that, but listen. On that responsibility, come
take and learn. Responsibility. You know what?
If we would do what we already know we're supposed to do, we
would have revival. We wouldn't be trying to have
revival, we would be having revival. Most revival meetings is geared
to try to get God's people to do what they already know they
are supposed to do. Amen. I don't know what y'all
are feeling, but I'm feeling the presence of God. I'm feeling
the amen of God. I'm feeling the yes sir, preach,
preacher of God in my soul. Amen. I want to tell you, friend.
Come on, preacher. Amen. Amen. We welcome the Holy
Ghost. Amen. Oh, I want to tell you
tonight, you do not sin in ignorance. You sin with knowledge. What
do you mean, preacher? You know what shape you're in,
and you know why. You, none of us in here will
ever have to come to the altar and say, Lord, you're dealing
with me, but I don't know about what. One lady come to the altar one
time, told the preacher, said, Lord's dealing with me, just
like I said. Lord's dealing with me, but I don't know about what.
He said, well get in the altar and guess at it. She got in the altar, a few minutes,
she stood up, glowing, shouting, crying, said, whoo! Preacher
said, how is it? She said, I guessed it, first
thing. We know what's wrong. Amen. We know when we say what
we shouldn't say. We know when we do what we shouldn't
do. We know that. Amen. We know that. The Holy Ghost lets us know that. This church, my church, any church
needs revival because people willingly does what they know
they're not supposed to do. Praise God for this church. It's
a good church. I guarantee there's some people
in this church that belong to this church. You're not right
with God and you know it. And probably the truth is other
people knows it. It's hard for you to not be right
with God or to be wrong with God and keep it personal and
keep it private. It'll get out on you. Amen. Amen. Your family will know it.
Amen. I heard a man say one time, he's
stupid when he said it. I'm not sin. You know what I
said? I will let your wife testify. Yeah. We know what 1 John said,
he that saith he hath sin is a liar, and the truth is not
in him. Amen. You know, hey, if we had people
getting older than that and deal with the bad attitudes they already
know exist in them. deal with the offenses that they
already know is in their life and hindering them spiritually.
If they'd go ahead and just get in the altar and do it, we wouldn't
have to preach five nights to try to get God's people right.
We could be preaching to sinners and see them get saved. When
people gets right, I said it the other night and it's all
through the Word of God, when people gets right, people get
saved. Amen. When there's a revival
of repentance, getting right with God, coming clean with God,
getting rid of the inner sin, the private sin, the secret sin,
the mental sin, the social sin, getting rid of the sin of omission. That is sin that we're omitting
the things that we should be doing, that we're not doing. Him that knoweth to do good and
doeth it not, to him it is sin. and then get right about the
sins of commission. That is the sins that we know
is wrong and good. Amen. That's right. I made a statement similar to
that in a church not long ago in Revival. And I was just starting
to preach. And I said something along those
lines. You know, you know, hey, there's no need for us to go
on. There's no need for us to go on in another night or even
go on in this service. You know what's wrong. Why don't
you deal with it? I mean right now, why don't you
deal with it? You know what's wrong with you. Why don't you
deal with it? Boy, they started popping up everywhere, going
to the altar, weeping and crying, getting right with God. Needless to say, I didn't get
to preach that night. I was going to preach to sinners, and I made
an appeal before I even read my scriptures, and I told everybody,
I said, I'm going after sinners tonight. And I know it's in vain
to go after sinners if God's people's crossed up with one
another, if there's somebody wrong with the pastor, if there's
hard feelings in the church, amen? If there's ladies crossed
up with each other, if there's men crossed up with each other,
if there's young people crossed up with each other, Amen? Are you listening? The Holy Spirit
of God will trip over a bad attitude. The Holy Spirit of God can so
easily be offended by a bad attitude, harboring ill will, harboring
hurt feelings toward a fellow brother or sister. It will grieve
the Holy Ghost and hinder God working. Say amen right there. I'm on target. I don't have to
have nobody in here telling me amen. I know by the witness of
the Spirit of God I'm on target right now. No doubt about it. Amen. Yes sirree. Probably some of that crowd's
not even here tonight. Willfully laying out of the house
of God. I don't know that. I don't go to church here. I
know, I've been in this thing long enough. I've been pastor
long enough and pastoring long enough too, amen. I know, buddy,
how people can get when they get crossed up with the church
and the direction of the church and the leadership of the church,
then you have revival, they'll stay at home. Or if they do come,
they'll plop down on a pew and make it very evident that they're
bulled up and blowed up like a big bullfrog. You ever seen
that? They don't care. Yeah, you look real spiritual.
I guarantee there's at least a hundred sinners want what you've
got. Amen? We need a revival of maturity. People growing up, being responsible. Amen? It's your responsibility
to pray. It's your responsibility to respond
to the commands of God. It's your responsibility to deal
with sin when it gets in your life. Amen. I could stop now and give an
altar call, I think. I didn't get up here to say none
of those things. Amen. But I know when the Holy
Spirit is whispering in my soul, say these things, do this, go
this direction. Amen. Amen. Somebody better get in. Better
get right. I'd hate to stand before a holy
God and Him let me know. And that may be a part of the
judgment seat of Christ. He let us know on what He intended
to do, what He wanted to do, what He desired to do, but was
hindered to do. I'd hate to face Him with this
revival effort. And y'all got Brother Alfred
Willis coming next week. Who is it you got Sunday? Brother
Rain Sunday. What a line-up. What an opportunity
to have an old-fashioned, heaven-sent revival. that would shake this
part of the country. Do you realize that God... I know y'all have had some great
meetings. Did you know this could be potentially
the greatest meeting you've ever had? Am I going way out into the realm
of impossibility if I said that God could save a hundred people
in this revival? Would that be so far out that
it's unreasonable and it's not even possible? God can save. He don't have a
problem of saving. He has a problem of people. Working
through people. God works through people. And
when we're wrong and we're crossed up and we're not what we need
to be, then that limits God. You wouldn't, oh my soul, help
me Lord. We may preach from Dan to Beersheba
tonight, amen. You wouldn't get in the way of
a fire truck, would you? Coming down the road, lights
are flashing, sirens going off. Would you purposely get in front
of them, slow down, or else pull crossways in the road? You say
that would be a fool to hinder an emergency worker. Would you
get in the way of an ambulance? Would you get in the way of a
rescue squad trying to get to an emergency? No! You've done
it and I've done it. Pull over to the side of the
road. Make sure the way is clear. But God is on a much greater
task. He's trying to obtain something
far greater. And how many of God's people
are in the way, bulled up, and blowed up, and mad, and got the
poochie lip, and wanting their way, and selfish, amen. Eat up with self-importance. I can't believe that they would
do me that way. Have they done you worse than
Jesus was done? Wait a minute, we might as well
just preach right there. Have you been done worse than
the way that you have done Jesus? I never have had anybody do me
worse than I have done Christ. Say amen right there. That's
right. Lord help me Jesus, I'm trying
to mind the Lord. I don't know. God's trying to
break in this thing tonight. Are you listening? I'm not scattered.
I didn't come in here half cocked. God met with me coming up the
road. I knew exactly, I've known, actually I've known since Tuesday
night what God wanted me to preach tonight. I like it when I'm preaching
one message and while I'm preaching one message, God gives me the
hmm of what he wants me to go next. I like it. That don't happen
often, but it's been happening here. The first night, I knew
clearly what God wanted me to preach. While I was preaching,
God gave me that nudge of what He wanted me to preach Tuesday
night. Tuesday night, God showed me what He wanted me to preach
next. I'm not rambling. I'm not rambling. I guarantee
you, there's some people in here that think I am rambling and
wish that I'd get on what I originally planned. You say, boy, it's hot in here
preaching. No, it ain't hot in here. It may be getting hot on
your pew. We want revival, we just don't
want to get right. There's not a person in here
or a person that belongs in this church that would verbally stand
and say, I don't want revival, I don't want to see revival,
I hope we never have revival. Never would say that. But they
don't want to change. They want the effects of revival,
they want the emotions of revival, but they don't want the change. Amen. Well, I don't know where
to go now. Some of you done got your wagon
loaded. Help us Lord, and it ain't funny. What I was laughing
at was how God can just park and load us up and get right
in our face and deal with us and speak to us. Amen? That's what, I'm not here, and
you know that, I'm not here at all to impress you. And you're
not wanting me to do that, and I'm not wanting to do that. I'm
not here to just give out a little sermonette. Go through a little
outline, give an illustration or two, and go home. I'm interested
in God dealing with us personally. I want the doctor, when I go
to the doctor, I want him to deal with me. I don't want him
to come in and talk about the patients down the hallway. What
good is that? What good is that? You would
never go back to a doctor like that, would you? Come on now. Amen. I believe God's gotten
personal tonight. I tell you what I believe I do,
and I'm not giving an invitation as such, but I'm telling you
what I believe I do. If God's done rung your door
knob, door, door, what is it? Doorbell, thank you brother.
If God's already knocking at your door and letting you know,
hey I have got your number. God's letting you know, hey,
I've done hymned you up, I've been on your trail, and a man
of God has come in here, don't know nothing about nothing, and
he has preached and read your mail already. You know what you
ought to do? You ought to get right with God. You need to get right with God. I've seen it happen. I've seen
it just similar like this right here. I've seen God break in
and apologies start. I've seen parents apologizing
to their children's Sunday school teachers because they drug around
on Sunday morning and hindered their children from getting into
a class that had a teacher that had prayed and studied and come
ready. And the parents didn't think
enough of the class to get their children in there. I've seen
that. I've seen them apologize to the
preacher. I've seen different ones, singers in the church,
sing, apologize one to another due to jealousy. Revival's not far away. It's just on the other side of
getting right. It's just on the other side of
getting right with God. Amen. You get wrong, you're responsible
for that. You're not wrong because of what
somebody else does. You're wrong because you responded
wrong. What you do should not affect
my spirituality. And vice versa. But if you're
wrong with God tonight, and you're crossed up in your heart with
God, you know you are. This dear lady right here, you
testified about that on Monday night, about last week. You knew
you weren't right with God, you just, you got that thing fixed
up. Probably nobody even knew that
but her. Need to keep your eye on your
spirituality, and when you get going in the wrong direction,
you need to be responsible to deal with that. Now this is a
strange service tonight. There's no strange spirit in
here. I'm telling you, God is speaking to hearts. No question
about it. Amen. And when I left the pew,
I did not intend on saying any of these things that I've said.
And I'm confident God is speaking to somebody's heart. And I don't
know I'm not a prophet, neither is the son of a prophet. But
I don't know what the rest of this revival is hinging on tonight.
That's how serious this meeting is tonight. Brother Willis, you
can't beat him. I don't think y'all have heard
him. Some of you have on the internet. But I'm telling you, our people
loves him. Our church would vote me out
in a second and vote him in if he'd come. You will eat him alive. But if you get crossed up with
God, it don't matter if you had the Apostle Paul coming in here
Monday. It don't matter who's preaching. If you're not hating
the Word, revival is stuck in the mud and stopped. Are you
okay with that? Are you okay with this church
continuing on in the way, whatever shape it's in? Are you okay with
sinners coming and leaving lost? Are you satisfied with dry and
dead and defeated services? God help us. Well, I don't know. Amen. Let's pray again. Father, I want
your will to be done tonight. Lord, I've been in this thing
long enough. And I'm not a know-it-all. I'm not a novice. Lord, you've
talked to me. You've schooled me. You've let
me, Lord, walk some of the paths, Lord, that we're even seeing
tonight. Lord, I didn't get up here to say any of these things,
but I prayed today and I prayed it tonight. Lord, get me personal
with this church. Get me personal, Lord. And Father,
I'm confident, Lord, just as sure as my name's what it is,
that for the last few minutes, dear God, we have been... Lord,
you have had us, Lord, with the crosshairs on Ridgeview Baptist
Church. There's no question about it.
Lord, I know, Father, I know when I'm saying things that's
just guessing. But I know when I'm making statements. And I know, Lord, when you're
speaking, Lord, through us. And there is a witness of the
Holy Ghost to that effect. Lord, I'm praying right now that
every man, and every woman, every boy, every girl in here, that's
not right with God, and not right with a brother or a sister in
the church, not right with a family member in this church, or outside
of the church, that they'll get in their saulter and say, God,
I intend tonight to be a responsible Christian. I am going to do what
you have commanded for me to do. Disobedience will stop revival. Obedience will swing the door
wide open in revival. Father, I pray right now that
you will help everyone to be obedient. Because right now at
this point, Lord, I'm not real certain exactly what you're wanting
me to do. Lord, when I came in the service
tonight, I thought surely this is what you wanted. But Lord,
I'm confident, Lord, for the last 25-30 minutes, ever how
long it's been, God, you've been speaking to me and speaking through
me, Lord. If it's going to be heated, there
will be help. But if it will be rejected, Lord,
how serious a matter that is. Lord, if you'll show me what
you want me to do, Lord, I'll do it. Lord, I'm not here, Father,
to go through some particular order of service, particular...
Lord, anything. We're interested. I am interested.
I know this pastor, Brother Sexton. I know him well enough to know
that he wants the will of God. He wants you, Lord, to come through
this place confronting people, dealing with people, speaking
to people, And Lord, you've put your holy finger, there's no
doubt about it, you've put your holy finger on some attitudes.
You've put your holy finger on, Lord, some speech sins, and Lord,
some mental sins, and some folk in the service tonight that's
allowed their spiritual life to get slack because their attention
has went to other things. Things that really don't matter. Lord, I pray Right now, Lord,
somebody is going to have the key to this service tonight. Lord, I want your will to be
done. I want you to speak to us. Continue to do so. Lord, this is serious business.
Lord, at this church, Lord, I feel impressed to pray. It is the
truth. I know it. Lord, if this church
does not have revival, a returning to God, the power of God permeating
this place, the power of God permeating this place, the presence
of God permeating this place, that there will in fact probably,
no doubt about it, there will be sinners that will wind up
in hell over it. Because I am a living example,
Father, that only a revived church will reach some people. And Lord, I was one of those.
When you moved through that church in that seven-week powerhouse
move of God in 1981, Lord, it shook me to the foundation of
my soul. You revealed to me, God, that
I had a head of religion and had a baptismal certificate and
had a godly heritage of parents and grandparents, but I did not
have you as my Savior. And I got saved that night, bless
your holy name. Lord, it took a powerful, sovereign,
supernatural move of God through that church to get me and to
win other people to God. Lord, this revival is not just
about what you're going to do here. Lord, it's about what you're
going to do through here, through this church, what you're going
to do around town, what you're going to do in this area, what
you're going to do through missions. If this church has revival, dear
God, it's going to affect the missionary on the field. It's
going to affect sinners around this area. Revival is not optional,
Lord. Please help us not to treat it
that way. It is not an option. It is essential, it's crucial.
If we don't have revival, we are going to stand before you
ashamed of the unfinished task, unreached souls, unfinished business. God, help us tonight. Your will be done, Lord. Help
me, Lord, to be sensitive, God. Sensitive, God, to your Holy
Ghost. Lord, we don't need performance
tonight. We need power. We need the power
of God. Have your way right now, in Jesus'
name. I want you to keep your heads
bowed, eyes closed, just for a moment. I want to ask you tonight,
if there's anybody in the service that needs to do business with
God, needs to do business with God, I wonder tonight, would
you be responsible enough to do that? Step on your pride. Step on your pride. Preacher,
what will people think about me? You may need to come to your
preacher and apologize. Preacher, I've been harboring
ill will. He may not even know a thing about it. But you've
been harboring ill will and you're not writing your thoughts toward
the man of God. I don't know. Will you be responsible tonight?
Will you be responsible tonight? Anyone? If you have need of the altar,
would you come? If you're here tonight and you're
not saved, God has arranged the service and ordered the service
and God has rearranged the service and the direction of the service
to just show you that this thing is not mechanical. The things
of the house of God is not a machine. It is spiritual. And God is making this service
what it is to get our attention. Brother Sexton, will you pray? The Lord wants you to pray, preacher. Oh, Spirit of God. Oh, Spirit of God, please. God,
please move in power, Lord. God, this meeting could break,
Lord, wide open tonight, Father. Yes, God. Oh, God. Oh, God. Oh, Jesus. Lord, please, dear
God. Oh, God. Oh, blessed Lord. Oh, blessed Lord Jesus. Oh, God,
have your way in Jesus' name. Oh, Lord. Yes. Amen. When God's people gets
right, sinners will get saved. In the stillness of this moment
here, let's just be sensitive. If you need to do something,
Do it. If you need to go to someone,
do it. If you need to get someone to come with you to pray in the
altar, feel free to do that. If you need to apologize, if
children needs to apologize to parents, husband and wife needs
to get right. Whatever it is, right now is
the time. Right now is the time to do it. I've been many a meeting. Brother
Harvey can testify and others. It's very seldom I see God confront
a church like he has tonight. Very seldom that happens. And
that is a window of great opportunity for this church to take a big,
big step to another level spiritually. You be responsible. That's it.
Revival hinges on responsibility. And if you've failed, if you've
sinned against God and you're not right with God, why don't
you do that tonight? Why don't you get right tonight? There's folk in the altar doing
business. You know if you're right or not. I'm not your judge
on that. You know if you are or not. You know if you've been reading
your Bible, feeding on God's Word, praying, walking with God,
you know if you've been doing that. Would you come? You may not have gotten wrong
with action, it may just be thoughts. having carnal thoughts. Amen.
A song later, would you pray? I
don't know your name, would you pray? Yeah, God, get on him, Lord,
I pray. Oh, Holy Ghost. God, move in
this place of mighty power, Jesus. Oh, God, we give you the reins
of the service, Lord. We give you the controls. Lord,
it's not about me, Father. It's about, Lord, your will.
It's about, God, what you want. God, you have your way, Lord.
Lord, this is not a reputation issue, Lord. It don't matter,
Lord, what people think about me or what it makes me look like. I'm not the least bit interested
in that, Lord. I want you to have your way.
Lord, I want people to be in this service, be confronted of
the Holy Ghost, do business with you, Lord. Oh, God. Oh, God, please. Lord, please,
dear God, work mightily in this service. Yes. Oh, Spirit of God. Jesus' holy name. Yes, Lord. Folks doing business in the altar, be still and know that I'm God.
God's got our attention tonight. All we need now is to give Him
our action. Respond. Deal with whatever it
is that we need to deal with. You young people, you may have
a key to this service tonight. How's your spiritual life? Are
you intimate and close with God? Would you come tonight if God's
speaking to your heart? If God's working in your heart? Brother Harvey, would you pray,
brother? God wants you to pray. Well, at least pray and let God
speak to you now. You come to the altar if you need to. Yes, Lord. Yes, Lord. Oh, God. Oh, God, have Your way, Jesus. Holy Ghost, I pray in Jesus'
name, God, move in power, Lord, this thing, dear God. Oh, Father,
someone, Lord, it's God right there in a tug-of-war match with
you, Lord, pulling against you. God, please, dear Father, break
their will, I pray. God, help them, I pray, to be
responsible tonight, dear God. Lord, our Father, you know my
heart tonight, God. Oh, Father, I, Lord, want your
will, God, to be done. Oh, God, move in power, Lord. God, send an old-fashioned Holy
Ghost revival. Lord, not for my name's sake,
but for your name's sake, God, for the cause of Christ, dear
Lord. Without revival, the cause of
Christ will suffer. Lord, without revival, God's
sinners will not be convicted of sin. Lord Jesus, you will
not be glorified and praised and worshipped, God, like you
deserve. Oh, Father, I pray, Lord, that
you'll help us to know, Lord, that there's a lot of things,
God, that we'll not do, Father, when we're distant, God, from
you. Lord, help us, I pray. God, please, dear Lord, break
in on us tonight. God, You're trying to. It's evident. It's very evident tonight. God,
I'm not defeated tonight. Lord, I'm not discouraged, Lord,
with the service tonight. Lord, I know in my heart, God,
that You've led us. I know tonight, God, that You've
spoken to my heart, Lord. statement by statement, and sentence
by sentence, God, and Lord, and comment by comment, Lord. I know,
Father, I've been there, Lord, and seen you do it, Lord, and
God, you did it tonight, Father, and we pray that it will be received,
and Lord, it will be responded to, and Lord, there will be a
reaction, God, Lord, of the saints of God. There's folk here tonight
lost without God. Lord, the Holy Ghost, Father,
needs to deal with. Lord, they need saving, God,
tonight. Lord, right there in the balance
is tonight, Father. Lord, no doubt God can get saved
tonight. Father, please, Lord, help every
man, woman, boy, and girl, God, to do business with you tonight,
Father. God, I pray, cleanse us, God,
from head to toe, inside and out. God of every sin, Father,
Lord, we don't want to grieve the Spirit of God tonight in
any form, in any fashion, God. Lord, not even in the minute
way, Father, we want You to have Your way, Lord. God, breathe
in mighty power, Lord, at Ridgeview Baptist Church tonight, God.
Lord, Father, I thank You. I thank you that you care enough
to speak a word to us. Thank you for caring enough,
God, to say to us, God, Lord, I thank you for that tonight,
Lord. Oh, God, I thank you for it.
Thank you for caring for us. Oh, God, help us tonight, Jesus,
I pray. Yes, God. Have your way, Lord,
I pray. Holy God, move in power tonight,
I pray. In Jesus' name, God. Oh, God, help us, Lord. Yes, God, help us tonight, Jesus,
I pray. Oh God help us tonight Lord.
I pray you'd help us in Jesus. Yes, God. Yes, God. That's right. That's right, Lord. That's right, Yes, God. Yes, God. Oh, God. Yes. Yes. Yes, God. Yes, hallelujah, Lord. Yes, hallelujah. Oh, God. Yes, God, bless your name. Hallelujah, Lord. Oh, we bless
your name. You're worthy tonight, God. You're worthy tonight, Lord,
of praise and worship and honor and glory, Lord. You're worthy
of homage. You're worthy of honor tonight,
Lord. We praise you, God. We bless
your name tonight. Hallelujah. Glory be unto thy
holy, holy name. Holy name, God. We praise you,
Lord. We praise you, God. We praise
you, Lord. Hallelujah, God. Glory be to
God tonight. Glory be to God tonight. Bless your holy name. Bless your holy name tonight,
God. Oh, yes, dear God. Praise your
holy name. Praise your holy name, Jesus. Oh, you're worthy tonight, God. Hallelujah, God. Bless your holy
name, Jesus. You're worthy tonight, blessed
God of heaven. Have your way in Jesus' name. Have your way tonight, Lord. Oh, God, have your way, Lord. In Jesus' name, I pray. In Jesus'
holy name. In Jesus' holy name. In Jesus'
holy name, God. Oh, Father, thank you, Lord.
Thank you. Bless you, God, tonight. Hallelujah,
Jesus. Oh, yes. Thank you, Lord. Thank
you, Lord, God. Thank you, Lord, tonight. Thank
you, Lord. Bless your name, Jesus. Yes,
hallelujah, Lord. Yes. Yes, yes, yes. Hallelujah, Jesus. Oh, thank you, Lord. Thank you
for loving us enough, caring enough to send us a word, speak
to us, confront us, deal with us. Thank you, Lord, that you
don't leave us to ourselves. Thank you for pursuing, thank
you for docking and dealing and speaking. Thank you, Lord. Thank you, thank you, thank you,
Lord. Bless your holy name. Hallelujah, Lord. Thank you. Thank you, Lord. Glory, glory,
glory. Glory, Jesus. Glory, Jesus. Yes, thank you, Lord. Thank you, Lord. I'll tell you folk, it's been,
and I'm not just saying this, there's no benefit at all to
just saying something. It's been a long time, preacher,
since I've been in a meeting like this. You say, it ain't a glory meeting.
No, but it's been a confronting, dealing, sober, speaking. It's
been a while since I've been in a meeting like this, in my
church or anywhere. And that right there shows me
that God is definitely, definitely interested in Ridgeview Baptist
Church. And I want to say this. I feel
impressed to say this. God is not done with Ridgeview
Baptist Church. God would have never moved in
a service like tonight if he was done. That right there ought to flood
your soul with joy. I've been in churches that I
wonder if God wasn't done. You know why? He never spoke,
never said a word. Are you listening? Never confront,
never deal with anybody. But I didn't sense that here
tonight. Amen. We want what God wants. Amen. Anybody else need to do
anything? I don't have any liberty to go
on any further myself. It's just like God brought us
to that right there. What are we willing to do? Maybe
someone's done business with God tonight and you want to...
And I do believe this. If you get right with God as
a church member, you'll want to get right with the church. And I don't see that much. Very
seldom do you ever see that. But if you belong here and you
get crossed up with God, you owe the church an apology too.
Amen. Just get completely clean. Amen? Just get completely clean.
And let's see God do something big. Anybody else? Anybody? Turn it over to the
preacher in a second. Bless you, Sid. Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen, sis. Bless your heart. Amen. Amen. I got a text today coming up
the road from an individual, from a preacher. He asked me
the question, is it a sin to be grumpy? How would you respond to that? Amen. Attitude. Yeah. It's not pleasing to the
Lord. Amen. Amen. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. My mind, brother. Yes, sir. Amen. Amen, brother Harvey. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Sure. Right. Yes, sir. Me too, brother,
me too. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Right. Right. I'm I'm I Amen. Amen. Sure. Yes, sir. Sure. Yes, sir. Right. Yes, sir. Brother man. Yes. Yes, He does. Yes. Yes. Amen. Yes, sir. It's not. No. Amen. Amen. Amen. Sure. Yes, sir. Amen. Yes, sir. Amen. Yes, sir. Yes. Yes. Amen. Amen. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Amen, brother. Yes, sir. Amen. Yes, sir. Yes, sir. Mightily. Yes, sir. Amen. You know, a lot of times church
folk don't really want services like this. They'd rather come
in, sing three or four songs or ever what, you know, sing
three or four songs, preach or get up, preach, dismiss, go home. They prefer that. Because services
like this gets in the pew and puts responsibility in your lap
to do business with God. Amen. Now whether you have or
not, that's going to be between you and the Lord. But I'd sure
hate to be in your shoes and go home tonight having purposefully
disobeyed God. I'd hate to be in your shoes.
Amen. I'm not defeated. This service
has not defeated me. No sir, it's not defeated me
at all. But I've been in this thing,
Brother Wayne, long enough. I mean, I'm not a know-it-all
for sure, but I know better than to go away from what God's doing
and go on something else. I've done that before. And watch
God leave the place. Amen. You don't need a sermonette. You don't need two, three points
and that. You, you, we need, I need, we
need God. We need God. and bless his name
that he spoke to us and dealt with us tonight. Amen. And I said it earlier while somebody
was praying or something I mentioned. Church is not mechanical. We've
made it mechanical. We've made it a machine to where
it's the same thing every service, same thing every Sunday. That
is not the will of God. I've made this statement before.
Where all things are the same, there's a lack of the Spirit.
When things consistently are the same, there's a lack of the
Spirit. Services, God does not intend to be cookie cutter. Same,
just stamped out. Sunday morning, Sunday night,
Wednesday night, same old, same old, same. That is not the will
of God. God does not duplicate. He originates. And He wants every service to
be what it needs to meet the needs of the people that's there. Amen. Amen. Preach out. As far as I know,
I've minded the Lord tonight. Amen. You said God told you what
to preach next. He did. So I'm going to preach
it probably tomorrow night. Well, you've heard the message
from the man of God tonight. Has everybody obeyed the Spirit
of God? I can probably answer that for
you, but I'm not going to. I just want to ask you again,
just be sure you have. I'll tell you what I'd like to
do. I'm not trying to drag it out. I'm doing what the preacher
did. I just want to be obedient. When
I leave, I want to say I've been obedient. And so we're going
to pray here. Sister King, if you'd come to
the piano and just play softly. I think we ought to pray and
ask God to help us now in the days ahead. We're just about
halfway through this thing. been pretty sober tonight, hasn't
he? Pretty sober, so. I don't know. Maybe you need to pray for yourself.
Maybe you need to pray for your lost loved ones. I don't know. But I feel like we ought to pray.
And when you get through praying, just slip back to your seat and
sit down. Come on, y'all just slip on out
of there with Brother Bud. And you husbands, bring your
wives and pray with them if you'd like. My, how we need, how we
need the Lord. You young folk, please try to
touch heaven tonight. Let's pray tonight, then we're
gonna just have, just let everybody get settled. It's beautiful
