15 Reasons for not using Instrumental Music in Public Worship

No instrumental music was used in the New Testament churches, nor indeed in any churches for the first 1000 years after Christ. Musical Instruments were used in temple worship along with sacrifices, incense, candles etc. With Christ's death the temple and its worship has passed away and the simple worship of the synagogue has become the pattern. The musical instruments of which the Psalms speak, are types and symbols of Christian joy and we are to make melody in our hearts or literally to pluck the strings of our heart rather than stringed instruments.
