Council of Nicea 325AD was the first worldwide council of churches. This council upheld the doctrine of the true divinity of Christ and rejected Arius's heresy that Christ was not an eternal being but created at a point in time by the Father. The emperor Constantine was major participant whose main goal was peace and unity in the empire.
