When I was in sixth grade science
in the public school system, I was taught that nothing became
something, and then it blew up and became everything. And then
15 billion years later, we crawled up out of the ooze onto the shore,
and here we stand today. And so I wanted to read a little
parody about creation, evolution, and the Big Bang. In the beginning,
there was nothing, and then boom, for absolutely no reason, nothing
exploded into everything. Not just some things, but all
things, including space, time, energy, and the unshakable human
desire to debate things on the internet. Somewhere in the chaos,
Atoms, those tiny little things that nobody can see, but everyone
seems to believe in, decided to start playing a cosmic game
of Lego. Through billions of years of
mindless trial and error, they just happened to assemble into
stars, planets, and eventually self-aware primates who argue
about how it all happened. Fast forward a few eons and a
primordial soup, because that's what a good, what's a good story
without a soup? Got hit by just the right lightning
bolt, conveniently delivered by the universe's unseen postal
service. This soup, rather than just sizzling into a cosmic omelet,
magically decided to become Life, this first living thing, let's
call it a goopzilla, wiggled, split in half, and started making
copies of itself. Somewhere along the line, this
actually became male and female counterparts, somehow. Some of
these copies had tiny random mistakes, little miracles, if
you will, that just so happened to turn a floating blob into
a fish, a fish into a monkey, and a monkey into a guy named
Carl, who complains about Wi-Fi speeds. Through the power of
time, accident, and sheer stubbornness, these monkeys developed language,
wrote philosophy, and eventually figured out how to take selfies.
And yet, despite evolving into highly intelligent beings, they
still stub their toes on furniture and believe that hitting buttons
on a plastic rectangle will somehow explain the mysteries of existence.
And so here we are, tiny cosmic accidents hurling through space
on a wet rock, convinced that our thoughts and opinions matter,
all while a flaming ball of gas 93 million miles away ensures
that we don't freeze to death. If this all seems unlikely, don't
worry. Scientists assure us it makes perfect sense. Just trust
the math. You know, there was a spelunker
named Jean-Marie Chauvy, who I think it was just a few days
before Christmas in 1994. They found the entrance to a
cave in Southern France in a place called the Ardèche Gorge. And
the Ardèche Gorge is a beautiful place. It's got a really big
natural bridge, and it's pretty remarkable place. And these guys
were walking along, detecting, looking for subtle air flows,
which would alert them to the presence of caves. And so they
found a little subtle airflow, Jean-Marie Chauvet did, and they
discovered a cave. And inside this cave were some
of the most incredible bits of ancient human artwork ever discovered.
In fact, it was so remarkable. I actually bought a book that
has really, really well made pictures of all of these drawings
on the walls. And they are truly spectacular.
Horses and bears and lions and all kinds of stuff like that.
And it's just absolutely incredible. the level of detail and the level
of expertise that these individuals had to make all this stuff. And scientists went down there
and immediately they knew that these were made by ancient human
beings. Now, why would they think that
human beings with intelligence and with artistic abilities and
things like that, why would they suddenly assume that they had
created all this stuff? Why would they assume that? They
weren't eyewitnesses of that. They didn't see these people
go down there and make these remarkable drawings. They just
assumed that they were made by intelligence. Why? Well, because
clearly there were pictures of elephants and bears and lions,
bison, rhinoceroses. I mean, it is truly amazing stuff. You see these pictures on the
walls in there. It's really, really rather incredible stuff
to see how artistic they were and how remarkable these drawings
are. But it's very important that
we recognize that no one attributed them to chance. No one thought,
well, you know, maybe the Maybe the concretions and the secretions
of rocks and maybe it just happened to create what looks like a herd
of lions running and a herd of horses running along on the wall
and fighting with each other and things like that. Nobody
thought that. Why? Why? Why did no one think that
something that is infinitely less complicated than a person
might've happened by accident? Because it's plain and obvious
that it didn't. It's plain and obvious that it didn't. The thing
is, think about this. If you were to come across the
faces of Mount Rushmore, which those four presidents, Roosevelt,
Lincoln, Washington, Jefferson, no one has ever stood there and
looked at that and thought, imagine the odds that rain and wind did
that by accident. I mean, imagine the odds that
that could actually happen on accident. No one has ever done
that. People recognize that intelligence
did this, that this was well thought out. This is something
that human beings did on purpose to create these likenesses on
the side of that rock face. But why? Why would they assume
that and they would never assume that rain and wind did it by
accident? Because of the information, because of the complexity of
it. When those spelunkers went into that cave, they realized
this is incredible. This is artwork made by people.
People made this stuff. And so they immediately sealed
off the cave and they called the authorities and they've studied
it for years and years and years. And they actually made it a life-size
replica of it because you're not allowed to go into it because
even breathing can mess up the preservation of these incredible
drawings. It's spelled C-H-A-U-V-E-T, Chauvet. That was the fellow's last name
that discovered it. And you just think, wow, these
guys were, those people were very, very artistic back then.
And they really did amazing work on that wall, and did so many
amazing drawings. And the people knew right away,
this needs to be, you know, a World Heritage site, we got to make
sure that we protect this, that we take care of it, make sure
it doesn't get messed up by anything. We don't want anyone to hurt
this. And so They immediately sealed it off. And it's been
a place where scientists go in there, you know, once in a great
while, they'll go in there and study it, but they don't really
let anybody in there because they don't want to harm the, these
beautiful drawings on the walls. Now, why again, do people look
at things like that and think, well, clearly this is made by
an intelligence and they know that, and there's no doubt about
it. This is made by intelligence, by people, by human beings on
purpose. because of the design, because of the thought that went
into it, because only a mind can do things like that. And
so scientists recognize, they see the faces of Mount Rushmore
all well clear. In fact, we know the documented history of that.
We know exactly where it comes from. We know when it was made,
who made it, who the main architects were and things like that. And
so there's no doubt about it. This was made by people. We have
documentation, we have pictures and we know the whole process
and we know why and everything else. But the fact is these same
individuals will look at a baby, will look at a human being and
think, well, that's an accident. They'll look at something infinitely,
infinitely more complex than cave drawings, infinitely more
complex than a sculpture in the side of a mountain and say, either
ET made it or it's an accident. Either ET made it or it is an
accident. I've always found that to be just remarkable. What does
that show? It shows that man has a vested
interest in not wanting God to exist. It shows that man is really
foolish. And when scripture says that,
when it says the fool has said in his heart, there is no God,
it's not an insult. It's not saying that people are
dumb. What it's really saying is that mankind is dense. Man
is rebellious. Man doesn't get it. It ought
to be plain and obvious. It ought to be clear as the noonday
sun that God made these things. God made human beings. God made
life. God made these things that have
infinitely more information in them than the drawings of a cave
or the sculptor on the side of a mountain. And so today's April 1st, it's
April Fool's Day. I wanted to do something about
the Big Bang. I'm not trying to be condescending or insulting
or anything like that. I know there are people who are
smarter than me that believe this stuff, but I just would encourage
you to ask yourself, why? Why do you believe it? Why do
you believe that an explosion created everything? Don't explosions
usually destroy things? And how could something as complex
as life assemble itself in soup by accident? How could that possibly
happen? Would be my question. The fool has said in his heart
there is no God, it says in Psalm 14, verse 1. As I said, that's
not an insult. That's simply a statement of
judgment. It's a statement that the person who believes things
like that is suppressing what they know in their heart of hearts
is true. I'll never forget, there was a fellow that showed up at
church when I was in college, and he was not a churchgoer.
He'd never really been to church. And he was a physical therapy student
and they were doing a gross anatomy where you actually take apart
a human cadaver. And so they were taking apart
a human body. And he said, looking at the wrists,
looking at the carpal tunnel and the way that the bones of
the wrists are put together, he said, it was very obvious
to me, I was looking at something that God made. And then I looked
at my own wrists and I knew that God made this too. And so I thought,
well, I know God made me, maybe I should go to a church. Thankfully,
he went to a decent church where he heard the gospel, he believed,
he was baptized. It was an amazing, amazing thing.
He shows up at church because of looking at the human body
and he could see. Not, well, maybe aliens made
this. It was a divine intelligence
of unimaginable wisdom made this. So today's April Fools, I was
encouraged to do a little video on this topic of April Fools.
Uh, when the scripture says that it's an, it's a statement of
judgment about stubborn unbelief. It's not about intelligence.
Most unbelievers are smarter than me. The only reason I'm
a Christian is God showed me my sin and God showed me my need
for a savior. God showed me that I needed Christ.
I needed to be saved. And I sure do bless his Holy
name for showing me that. Um, because I was very lost before
the Lord opened my eyes to see. So I hope that you'll take this
to heart. I hope that this is helpful. The Lord Jesus extends
his heart and his hands out to the whole world and says, if
you want deliverance from that kind of foolishness, that kind
of suppression of what is plain and obvious, it's obvious that
God made all this life. It's obvious that it's designed
by not, not extraterrestrials, even, even extraterrestrials,
if they exist, which they don't, but they couldn't design a DNA
molecule in the enzymes that read the code and build an organism. Obviously a divine intellect
of unimaginable power and wisdom made all these things. Please
consider that. If you have a Bible, read, read
the gospel of John, read the gospel of Matthew, read the book
of Romans and look at what it says in the opening chapter,
Romans chapter one, that since the creation of the world, God's
invisible attributes, his divine power and divine nature are clearly
seen being understood by the things that are made. Please
consider that and consider the fact that you have a conscience
that bothers you because God is a God who's going to judge
this world in righteousness. Please consider that. And I would
encourage you, come to Jesus. He extends his arms and his heart
and his grace to the world and says, come to me, all you who
are weary and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my
yoke upon you and learn from me for I am gentle and lowly
in heart. That's the good news. God will
forgive you if you'll come to him. Jesus Christ is able to
save to the uttermost all who come to God through him. So I would encourage you, please
do that. Please do that while there's time and give your heart
to him and turn from your sin and believe the gospel and trust
in Jesus's finished work to save you. Thanks for watching or listening.
Happy April Fool's Day!
