Several years ago, I was preaching in a Bible college, and a teacher came to me after the chapel service, and he said, Brother Ron, I'm writing a book, and I want to get some men across America to write just a little suggestion or a capsule of the things they feel are important in the ministry. And he asked me if I would write about a two-page capsule to include in that book. And my suggestion to all young preacher boys was this. If God has called you to preach, then major on preaching. And as I go across America and have the privilege of preaching in Bible colleges, one thing that grieves my heart today, we're not turning out preachers from our Bible colleges. We're turning out administrators. We're turning out promoters. We're turning out everything but preachers. And ladies and gentlemen, I believe that if Canada is ever saved, if America is ever saved, it will be saved solely by preaching. Preaching. And I say whatever it takes, gentlemen, to make you the best preacher you can possibly be with the tools that God has given you, use them, polish them, and major on being the best preacher that you can possibly be. Now, I never try to fit anybody into my mold. I never say that anybody ought to preach like I preach, but I do say this, that brother, if you have to go over your sermon 10 times before you get up in that pulpit to be at your best, do it. I remember a preacher told me he was in a preacher's fellowship with Harold Henniger, the pastor of Canton Baptist Temple in Canton, Ohio. And he said they went to Brother Hennegar's motel room to pick him up to go to the fellowship meeting with him. And when they knocked on his door, Brother Hennegar was preaching in front of the mirror. He was going over his next Sunday sermon. They laughed at him and they made light of him for doing this. You know what Dr. Hennegar's reply was? He said, gentlemen, I've got 3,000 people that are going to come there on Sunday morning. He said, when they come there, I've got to be at my best. He said, God has given me some tools. I've got to polish them and then expect the power of God to be on me as I use the tools that God has given me. If I don't give them anything, they're not going to be back on Sunday night. And I believe this, no matter what it takes to make you a good preacher, do it, do it. If a man has to memorize a sermon, do it. Whatever it takes to make you a good preacher. with the tools that God has given to you, polish them and use them. The most important thing to you is preaching. 1 Corinthians 1 18, For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness, but unto us which are saved there is the power of God. 1 Corinthians 1 21, For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, and it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching. to save them to believe. 1 Corinthians 1, 23 and 24. But we preach Christ's crucifixion, to the Jews his stumbling block, to the Greeks his foolishness, but unto us which are saved, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. And I say preach. If God has called you to preach, preach every chance you get. Preach on the street corners, preach in the jails, preach in your house, preach anywhere you get a chance to. Jeremiah said in Jeremiah 20 verse 9, I said I will not mention any more of him, neither will I speak any more in his name. But his word was in my heart as a fire shut up in my bones, and I could not stay, I was weary with forbearance. And I believe the man of God that's called to preach is going to preach, and nothing's going to stop him from preaching. John Wesley, when they kicked him out of his pulpit, purveyed him to preach the gospel from his pulpit, went out and found his father's tombstone, and he made his father's tombstone a pulpit and preached the word of God. George Whitfield, when an old man came home from a preaching expedition, Went upstairs, tired in body, lay down to retire. He heard a commotion going out. He saw the people lying on the streets. They had gone on his porch and on his stairs. George Whitefield came back out with a candle in his hand and preached the gospel to that crowd as they lay on the streets and on the stairs. He preached his last sermon, went to bed and went to be with Jesus Christ. These men had to preach. The call of God was on them, and they had to preach. Now, I want you to notice from Acts chapter 2 what Holy Spirit-filled preaching will produce. Will you notice, please, Acts chapter 2 and verse 37. Number one, Spirit-filled preaching will produce conviction. Acts 2 and verse 37. It says, Now when the heard this, They were pricked in their hearts and said to Peter and to the rest of the brethren, Men and brethren, what shall we do? In Acts chapter 5 verse 33, when Peter preached to the Sanhedrin, it says, Now when they heard that, they were cut to the heart. In Acts chapter 7 verse 54, when Stephen preached his swan song that the Lord took him to heaven, it says in Acts 7 verse 54, And when they heard these things, they were cut to the heart. Paul preached before Felix in Acts chapter 24 verse 25. It says, And as he reasoned of righteousness, temperance, and judgment to come, Felix trembled and said, Go thy way for this time. When I have a more convenient season, I will call for thee. And gentlemen, I believe that spirit-filled preaching will produce conviction. One of the graces of my heart is people are leaving our churches talking about a preacher rather than talking about Jesus Christ. People are leaving our churches laughing rather than crying. And I personally would much rather have a man go out the door cursing me because he's gotten angry than going out after hearing me preach and being passionate. I believe the lukewarm condition is the most dangerous condition that a man can possibly be. I believe our preaching, if it's spirit-filled, will produce conviction. There are several reasons why that preaching produced conviction. Number one, he preached in the language of the people. As you go down through Acts chapter 2, you will not find many five- or six-syllable words in Peter's praise. After the herd, Jesus preached. Mark chapter 12, verse 37 says, And the common people heard him gladly. Gentlemen, preach to the common people. Never preach to heads. Always preach to hearts. A successful pastor, and I believe in the eyes of God he's a successful pastor. In Indianapolis, Indiana, told me this. He said, Ron, I always gear my preaching for the fourth graders. He said, if the fourth graders understand it, he says, probably the adults will not have trouble understanding it. I always gear my preaching for the fourth graders. And I want to say there is no virtue in gearing your preaching to the heads of people. We're to preach to the hearts of people. The common people heard him gladly. Abraham Lincoln said God must have loved the common man because he made so many of them. Remember this, gentlemen. Pritchard told me the first time I preached in a pulpit, he said, Ron, you remember this, that people are a lot dumber than you think they are. Now, ladies and gentlemen, I didn't say that. You look intelligent. See, but he said that. The longer I preach, the more I understand what he meant. The average person who sits in the pew today does not read his Bible. And the only Bible he gets is what he gets from the preaching. You've got to preach so they can understand. Number two, he preached pointedly. Pointedly. He got right to the point. I believe one of the cardinal sins of preachers today is that they waste words. And I have asked God to make me so conscientious about making every word that I mention from the pulpit down and not to waste words. I'm not saying that a man ought to preach 15 minutes or 30 minutes or 40 minutes. But I believe this, that a man shouldn't preach more than what he's got to preach. If you've got a 30-minute message, don't preach 31 minutes. If you've got a 40-minute message, don't preach 41 minutes. If you waste words when you get to that which is important, you'll have already lost your crown. So make every word count that you preach from the pulpit, knowing that one day you're going to have to stand and give an account before God for every word that you have preached from the pulpit. He preached so they could understand. He preached pointedly, and everybody knew what he was talking about when they left. Today we're supposed to preamble around the pole of veracity or beat around the bush so that nobody knows what you're talking about. And everybody goes out feeling good, but I don't believe that characterized the preaching of Jesus Christ. That did not characterize the preaching of the apostles. Somebody says, well, I don't like to hear a man call another man's religion from the pulpit. Don't think you ought to speak about anybody's religion. If that's your attitude, you would not have liked the preaching of Jesus Christ. Seven times in Matthew chapter 23, he raged on the false religionists of his day and he called the National Council of Churches by name. So don't beat around the bush. Get to the point and name things. I believe with all my heart that's the kind of preaching that God blesses. But number three, I believe the reason why God blessed this message He was consumed with the conviction that everybody had to hear the message he had to preach. Will you notice, please, Acts chapter 2 verse 14? It says, But Peter, standing up with the eleven, lifted up his voice and said unto them, Ye men of Judea, and all ye that dwell at Jerusalem, be this known unto you, and hearken unto my words. I believe he got up and said, Listen to me. I don't want anybody writing notes while I'm preaching. What I've got to say is important. I believe that's the attitude he has. And I believe we've got to instill into our people a love and a respect for this word. When I get up to preach, I say that what I've got to preach is the most important thing in all the world. And then we have to hear this message. And it's not necessarily that they listen to the messenger. That's not the point. But they must listen to the message. Abraham Lincoln said, whenever I go to hear a man preach, I want to hear him preach as though he's fighting a swarm of bumblebees. Bob Ingersoll said, I don't agree with a fundamentalist preacher. But he said, I like to hear a fundamentalist preach because he's consumed and he believes what he's preaching. And I believe, gentlemen, the message, first of all, has to grip you before it'll grip anybody else. John Knox of Scotland made this statement. God, give me Scotland or I die. And when John Knox was an old man, they had to help him into the pulpit. But they said that whenever John Knox got up in the pulpit and yearned for souls, that he was so consumed with the compression of what he was preaching, they said they thought he would break the pulpit to bread pieces. You must be consumed with a message. What you've got to say from this book is the most important message in all the world. Number four, And I believe mainly why it brought conviction. It was filled with Scripture. It begins with Scripture. It ends with Scripture. There's Scripture in the middle. It's a Bible sandwich. See, Scripture at the first, Scripture in the middle, Scripture at the end. You'll notice in Acts chapter 5 the same way. Acts chapter 7, it's all Scripture. Now, when I started preaching, I made up my mind to one thing. God never asked me to be a good preacher. He never asked me to preach loudly. He never asked me to preach softly. But he asked me to preach the word, 2 Timothy 4, 2. And I have dedicated my ministry not to preaching about the word, but preaching the word. If the job gets done, the word of God's going to have to do it. Ladies and gentlemen, I have no confidence in my personality. Don't have confidence in your personality. I have no confidence in my ability to tell illustrations. None whatsoever. But I have supreme confidence in this book. And I know that when I get up and wield the sword of the Spirit, all the power of heaven is upon me. Fill your messages with the word of God. Psalm 19, verse 7. The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul. The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple. Isaiah 55, 10, and 11. For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not pivot, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and above, that it may bring forth seed to the soul, and bread to the eager, so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth. It shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I send it. Listen, when I get up and preach, I don't have to see something happen. But something has happened. Something has happened. Because God's word will not return void. Jeremiah 23, 29 is not my word. Like as a fire, say of the Lord, and like a hammer that breaketh a rock into pieces. Jesus said in John 5, 24, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me hath everlasting life. John 6, 63, the flesh profited nothing. Remember that, gentlemen. The flesh profited nothing. Jesus said, the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit and they are life. Acts 12, verse 24, they that were scattered whenever were preaching the word. Acts 18, verse 28, speaking of Apollos, for he mightily convinced the Jews in that public place, showing them by the scriptures that Jesus was the Christ. Acts 19, verse 20, so mightily grew the word of God and prevailed. Romans 1, 16, for I'm not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation. Hebrews 4, 12, for the word of God is quick and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword. Love it and expect it to bring forth truth. Number one, Holy Spirit-filled preaching will produce conviction. Notice, please, number two, Holy Spirit-filled preaching will produce conversion. Acts chapter 2, verse 41. It says, Them they that gladly receive His Word were baptized. They received the Word. That's salvation. Holy Spirit-filled preaching will produce conversion. Now, let me say this. In America, we have a sad atmosphere going around. Perhaps the greatest harm that's been done in the last decade in fundamental churches is when the ten largest Sunday schools in America was written, that book. And ever since that time, ethics have been thrown to the wind. And men are doing anything to be known as one of the ten fastest growing Sunday schools. Let me say this. God may not want you to pastor of a church of a thousand. I'll guarantee you, if you go to the average Bible college today, you'll get kicked out for saying that. But God may not want you to pastor a church of a thousand. But I'll tell you what, gentlemen, you better not be content with pastoring a church of 200. Don't you be content with that. Brother, your heart ought to cry out for more proof, more proof. Here's an interesting thing. In John chapter 15, you have a comparison of proof. In John 15 verse 16 it says, You have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you that you should go and bring forth fruit. That's your first comparison. Then in John 15 verse 2, Every branch in me that beareth my fruit, he taketh away. And every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. All right, you have fruit, you have more fruit. Now in John chapter 15 verse 5, you have much fruit. But may I say that it doesn't say that God is satisfied with fruit, more fruit. You know what it says God is glorified in? Much fruit. John 15, verse 8. Herein is my Father glorified that ye bear much fruit. So shall ye be my disciples. God didn't any pester in this crowd tonight. He's satisfied with fruit. when he ought to be not satisfied until he gets much fruit. Then God is glorified. Praying Hyde was at a preacher's convention, and he was challenged that preacher's convention that he would not lay his head on his pillow at night unless that next year he had led at least one soul to Christ a day and had seen them baptized. By the time the year ended, Praying Hyde had led one soul a day to Christ and had seen them baptized. The next year praying Hyde went back to this same conference again he was telling us. He said, I'm not satisfied with fruit. My heart cries out for more fruit. He said, I'll not peel my head at night unless I have led two souls to Christ and have seen two people a day, one to Christ and baptized. The next year praying Hyde went back to that convention. And he said, dear God, my heart is not satisfied with fruit. It's not satisfied with more fruit. He said, I cry out for much fruit. And he said, I'll not pillow my head unless I lead at least four people to Christ a day and see them baptized. And when the year ended, ladies and gentlemen, Praying Hyde had led an average of four people to Christ a day and had seen them baptized. No wonder Praying Hyde burned out for Jesus Christ at an early age. But he'd accomplished more than most of us will accomplish in 70, 80 years of lifetime. Because his heart cried out for much further. I trust that every pastor's heart in this building cries out, oh God, I'm not satisfied with fruit. I'm not satisfied with more fruit. I want much fruit, much fruit. All right, number three, I want you to notice it not only produces conviction, conversion, but it produces continuance. Acts chapter two, verse 42. It says, and they continued steadfastly in the apostles doctrine, and fellowship, and breaking of bread, and in prayers continuance. You know, I love to see people come down the aisle. People come to me and say, Ron, have you ever gotten used to seeing people come down an aisle? In the two and a half years that Brother Larry has been with me, we have been in one service in a revival meeting where nobody comes down an aisle. And let me say that no matter how many people we see come down an aisle, I never get used to that. I've never gotten over that thrill. But I'll tell you something I love even more than that. When I come back to a church in three years, for somebody to come up to me and say, Brother Ron, I was saved when you were here before. I was saved when you were here before. And my heart continually cries out to God, Oh God, give us fruit that should remain. Give us fruit that should remain. I'm not just interested in people walking down an aisle. But I want proof that's going to remain. And I believe, as you notice his preaching, you'll see why that he had proof that remained. Number one, he preached on the Lordship of Christ. Acts chapter 2, verse 36, notice please. Peter stood up and said, Therefore, let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God hath made the same Jesus whom you have crucified, both Lord and Christ. I want to say that he was Lord. before he was Savior. And it is my contention that nobody is saved by accepting Jesus Christ as their Savior. It is my contention that a person is not saved until he believes with his heart and he confesses with his mouth that Jesus is Lord. Now let me pause and say this. I'm not saying that a person at salvation will know everything the Lordship of Christ entails. And we have in America what's called Lordship Salvation. I think it's an unfortunate term. And what men mean by that is that at the moment of conversion, God will have everything and you'll be surrendered to Christ the rest of your life. I don't believe that. But I'll tell you what, as a 15-year-old boy, one night I came to the realization where I'd been my Lord for 15 years. And I'd run my life long enough, and I said, Lord Jesus, I'm tired of running my life. I want you to run it. Romans 6, 23. But the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ, our Savior. Right? No. Our Lord. Romans 10, 13. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Savior shall be saved. Right? Wrong. Lord shall be saved. And I do not believe a man gets to heaven by just receiving Jesus as a fire escape. All right. Notice, please, this is something else that is missing in the preaching of the New Evangelicals and not only the preaching of the New Evangelicals, but in most of our fundamental churches. Acts 2, 38. Not only did he preach Jesus was Lord, but he preached on repentance. Acts 2, verse 38. Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ upon the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. He preached rebellion. You don't see that today. You know, men used to get up in revival meetings, and they used to preach that men had to break up their foul grounds. And men would start weeping in a revival meeting, and you'd hear the crying, Woe is me. But you don't hear that cry in revival meetings anymore. Instead, people come down an aisle with a smirk on their face, popping bubblegum, and they go out the same way they came in because there's no repentance preach. But I believe this, gentlemen, wherever repentance is preached and insisted on, solid results will follow. And whenever a man is saved under such robust preaching, he's going to turn out to be a real stalwart for God Almighty. You say, well that was to the Jews. Or in Luke chapter 23, 46 and 47, among the last words that Jesus spoke to his disciples were these, Then said Jesus unto them, So Christ must suffer Thus it is written, thus it behoove Christ to suffer and to rise again from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. So among all nations, Acts 17, verse 30, God hath commanded all men everywhere to repent. Acts 20, 21, testifying both to Jews and Greeks. Repentance toward God and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ. Often people come to me and they say, Brother Ron, we had a revival meeting, had a lot of people come forward. And after the revival meeting was over, we didn't have anything to show for it. We had a big show while it was going on, but what about a half an hour afterwards? All right, I'm going to give you tonight four reasons quickly why you don't have proof that remains. Number one, shallow preaching, shallow preaching. Whatever you say, come on down and make a decision for Jesus Christ. Come on down and make a commitment to Jesus Christ. I will guarantee you that you're not going to see fruit that's going to remain. Shallow preaching produces shallow results. Number two is shallow invitation. I believe that we have to be honest in our invitation. And I say this, that I can give a pointed, straightforward invitation, but I must, I must be honest. In other words, Don't ask people, how many of you want me to pray for you tonight? Raise your hand. And then after they've raised their hand, say, now you have lied to God if you don't come to get saved. Because when you raise your hand, you said you wanted to be saved. If you don't come forward, you're lying to God. You see what the evangelist has done? He has been dishonest in his invitation. He didn't ask them, first of all, if they wanted to be saved, raise their hand. He asked them, do you want me to pray for you? My invitation is this. If you want to be saved tonight and you want me to pray for you, I'll pray for you. Raise your hand. Now, whenever a man raises his hand under that invitation, if he is honest, then he'll come forward. See, I've said if you want to be saved tonight, raise your hand. You must be honest in your invitation. And we have these Mother Hubbard invitations that say, if you want to get closer to Jesus, just come forward. Everybody comes forward and they go out the same way. Make your invitation clear, plain, and honest. Number three, improper counseling will produce shallow results. I remember preaching in the state of Virginia, and that night we had a man who was Christian Science, raised his hand, said he wanted to be saved. He could not be in her room. And you know what the personal worker told me? said he's rededicated his life to God. I said, now wait a minute. This man's Christian science. I said, I wasn't preaching to make him a stronger Christian science. And brother, we've got to instruct our personal workers and it needs to be done continually. How to deal with people properly. In that same meeting, a lady named Sir Ham said she wanted to be saved. She came forward. The first thing the personal worker asked her was this. Do you believe the Bible is the word of God? You know what? She never got to deal with a woman about being saved. The rest of the time they argued about whether or not the Bible was the Word of God. And ladies and gentlemen, when they come to be saved, get them to salvation as quickly as possible. If you get them saved, they'll have no doubts about the Bible being the Word of God. And I found this, if you ever get a man forward, he's coming to get saved and he goes out unsaved, very, very slim are the chances that you'll ever get him back to church and get him down the aisle. So they must be dealt with properly in the counseling. And then number four, there must be proper follow-up. Meeting after meeting, my heart is heavy. When I see people come down the aisle to get saved and nobody even takes their name down, nobody even writes their decision down, nothing is put in their hand. I believe at the moment of conversion, a man has more desire to go on with God than he'll ever have before. Something has to be put in their hand. They must be further instructed in the things of God at that time. And I believe as soon as they can be visited after that decision, the more lasting those results are going to be. So his preaching produced continuance, and finally, in closing, it produced communion. Would you notice Acts 2, verse 46? Acts 2, verse 46. It says, And they, continuing daily, one accord in the temple, and in breaking of bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart. I never ask a Sunday morning Christian to pray for me. You know why? because God's not going to hear their prayer anyway. I want a man who's there on Sunday night, who's there on Wednesday night, who reads his Bible every day. Brother, that's the only way I'm going to be satisfied in a man's conversion, is when he has a desire to commune with God Almighty. A man wrote me for a meeting in America and he said, Brother Ron, I want you to come to my church for a three-day meeting. He said, now we're not going to have week meetings. He said, we're going to have three-day meetings. I wrote him back very kindly, at least I thought it was kindly. Maybe he didn't. But I said, sure. I said, I'm not wasting my life preaching, entertaining meetings for three days. I said, all you do is entertain people in three days. I am not wasting my life with that. And I thought to myself, my, we've come a long way down the road since Pentecost. You see, where we used to have meetings for months, now we've cut them down to weeks and even three days. and we are teaching our people to serve God by convenience, we have unified services. Don't have Sunday school and then preaching. You can't get people in like that. Just have one service, make it last an hour and 15 minutes. That's the way to get the crowds today. We have drive-in churches in America. Let the people come on Sunday night in short shorts, let them sit out in the car and sip Coke while they're listening to preaching. But make it convenient. Listen, gentlemen, you will never build a church by catering toward the carnal crowd. I want to say no matter what you do, the carnal crowd will never serve God. You set your standards for the spiritual people. And I've always said this as a pastor. If I had the choice of alienating the carnal crowd or the spiritual crowd, I would not lower my standards to appease the carnal crowd and let the spiritual crowd desert me. Brother, I would leave my standards there, where the spiritual people love it, and let the carnal crowd go somewhere else. We've got to teach our people that the most important thing in life is communion with God Almighty. Think about Mary and Martha. Somebody said, you know Martha, sir? Somebody said, if I had my choice, I'd take Martha before supper and Mary after supper. Jesus didn't say that. He said, Mary had chosen the most needful thing. She sat at the feet of Jesus worshiping. Here's a beautiful picture. She had a bottle of precious ointment, cost 300 working days wages. If it had been most of us, we'd have taken that bottle out and we'd have said, all right, here's 30 days working wages, and I'll pour that on the feet of Jesus. See, that's her time. That's her time. But Mary didn't say that. She took those 300 working days wages of precious And she gave it all to God. God doesn't own 10% of your income. He owns it all. He owns it all. He doesn't own 10% of your time. He owns it all. And when you start communion with God, you'll realize He owns it all. Number two, there's a precious picture of consecration. She broke it once and for all. She said, Lord, here's my life. That's what God wants you to do, layman, today. Quit trying to run your own life. Say, Lord, once and for all, here's my life. And then number three, there is a precious picture of worship. She sat at the feet of Jesus worshiping, and Jesus said, wherever the gospel is preached, this story will be told for a memorial of her. Oh, God wants our worship tonight. He wants our worship. I ask you, Christian, when is the last time you came to God Almighty and said, Lord Jesus, I love you? When's the last time? When the father was not right, when the prodigal son was not right with the father, you know what he said? He said, Father, give me, give me. But when he got right with his daddy, you know what he said? He said, Father, make me, make me. When's the last time you got alone with the Lord and you said, Lord Jesus, I'm not coming to you to ask you for anything. I'm just coming to you to love and adore you. And I want you to know how much I love you. God Almighty, more than anything else in the world, wants our worship. That's what our preaching ought to produce, communion. I think about Peter. Somebody said that after Jesus said Matthew 16, 18 to Peter, Thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church. Ever since that time until Pentecost, everything Peter said was wrong. And everything he said, Peter stuck his foot in his mouth. In Matthew chapter 17, Jesus took him up the Mount of Transfiguration. Peter said, Jesus, this is wonderful. This is wonderful. We ought to stay up here. We ought to build three tabernacles, one for Moses, one for Elijah, and one for you. God had to rebuke Peter from heaven. And he said, Peter, you keep your mouth closed. You don't know what you're saying. This is my beloved son. Hear ye him. And in Matthew chapter 18, He came to Jesus and he said, Jesus, I'm a good Christian. He said, I can forgive my brother seven times. Jesus said, no, Peter. No, you're not a good Christian. He said, not unless you can forgive your brother seven times. Matthew chapter 22. Peter said, listen, this other crowd here, Jesus may forsake you. And I've always had doubts about some of them. But Jesus, I'll never forsake you. I'll never forsake you. But before the cock threw thrice, he denied Jesus Christ. Before it threw twice, he denied him thrice. And everything he said, he put his foot in his mouth. But I ask you, ladies and gentlemen, at Pentecost, there was a different man that stood up and preached the gospel. Fearlessly preached the gospel. No denial of Jesus Christ. Three thousand were saved. The next day, five thousand were saved. I ask you, what was the difference? What was the difference? The Holy Spirit of God. The Holy Spirit of God. I'm talking to laymen tonight who have fished all night and you've caught no fish. And you have labored in your own energy on how God wants to fill you and empower you so you can be a fisher of men. David said in Psalm 127, 3 through 5, Children are a heritage of the Lord. The fruit of the womb is his reward. As arrows are in the hands of the youth, so are children of men. And happy is the man that hath his quiver full. I ask you tonight, gentlemen and laymen in this building, that you have your quiver full of spiritual children. Happy is the man that hath his quiver full. And if you're filled with the spirit, I believe your quiver is going to be full. Let's bow our heads.
