Good morning, friends. We come to you today from a local church, a local Bible-believing Protestant church called Holy Trinity Presbyterian Church in Fort Lauderdale. And we come with some good news for you this morning, this beautiful day that the Lord has given us. I'm a minister of the gospel, and I bring to you the good news of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. But you might ask, why is it that we come out here? Why is it that this minister is preaching in the open air? Well friends, we come out here in obedience to the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord Jesus says in Mark 16 and verse 15, Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. Go ye into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. This is why we are out here. We're filled with love and compassion for you, and we want to obey our Lord Jesus Christ, who has all power in heaven and in earth. He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords, the only Redeemer. of God's elect. And so this morning we bring to you the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. You might ask, what is the gospel? You might be familiar with this term, gospel. But do you know what it means? What is the gospel? Well, the word gospel means good news. The gospel is the good news of the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. And here, friends, let me read a few verses from the book of Romans as we meditate on the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ for a few moments this morning. In Romans chapter 3 and verse 10, the Bible says, as it is written, there is none righteous, no, not one. Verse 11, there's none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. And then verse 23 says, For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Did you hear that, friends? For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. We need to hear the bad news of our sin and misery in order to appreciate the good news of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ for us sinners. The bad news is that we are sinners. We have sinned against God. We've done what is evil in His sight. God is holy and we are not. And because we have sinned against the majesty of God, we deserve the supreme penalty of body and soul in hell. The Bible says the soul that sins, it shall die. The wages of sin is death. This is why, friends, we die. Because we are part of the ultimate statistic. 10 out of 10 people die. We die because we are lawbreakers. We are under the curse of the law. We are under the wrath of God because we have sinned against Him. Well friends, when God created man, man was created without sin. God made man, male and female, after his own image, in knowledge, righteousness, and holiness, with dominion over the creatures. But our father Adam sinned against God. And we, as Adam's children, also sinned with him and fell in him in his first transgression. We are fallen in Adam and we have received from our father Adam a sin nature. We don't become sinners when we sin. But we are sinners and therefore we sin. In sin did our mothers conceive us. This is why the Bible says, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Well, you might ask, what is sin? The Bible says in 1 John that sin is the transgression of the law of God. Sin is the transgression of the law of God. There is a God who is holy and righteous and perfect. He is light and in Him there is no darkness at all. And this God has a perfect law. And we have broken the law of God. The law of God is also written on your hearts. And therefore, you are without excuse. You and I are guilty. We deserve punishment because we are lawbreakers. And God is not corrupt, but He is righteous and just. And therefore, God will do perfect justice. One day, we will all stand before The judgment seat of Christ. And the Bible says, for it is appointed unto man once to die, and after that, the judgment. Well, friends, you might say that you have not sinned, or perhaps that you may have done a few wrongs, but that you are better than most people. Well, friends, remember this. The standard whereby we will be judged is not other people, but it is the perfect law of God. Listen to a few of the Ten Commandments. And let me ask you, have you kept the Ten Commandments perfectly? The sum of the Ten Commandments is to love the Lord our God with all of our being and to love our neighbor as ourselves. Have you loved God perfectly? Have you loved your neighbor like yourself? Have you kept the Ten Commandments, not 90% of the time, but perfectly in thought, word, and deed? Well, friends, the truth is that you and I are guilty. We indeed have failed to love the Lord our God and to give Him the glory which is due unto His name. So, for example, We find in the 7th commandment, the Bible says, Thou shalt not commit adultery. Thou shalt not commit adultery. The Lord Jesus says in Matthew 5 and verse 28, Whosoever looketh on a woman to lust after her hath committed adultery with her already in his heart. Did you hear that, friends? God is so holy. So perfect that He not only sees what we do externally, but He also knows the deepest recesses of our hearts. And so if you have looked with lust even once in your life, you have committed adultery in your heart. You've broken the seventh commandment, certainly in your heart. Well friends, this is only one of the Ten Commandments. What about the Ninth Commandment? Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor. Have you ever told a lie, even once? Well friends, if you have told even one lie, then the Bible says you are guilty. For all liars will have their part in the lake of fire. Have you ever hated someone? The Bible says whoever hates his brother is a murderer. You see, friends, we can hide from other people. We can perhaps harbor evil in our hearts, but look upright on the outside before the eyes of people. But friends, we cannot hide from God. God sees our hearts. God sees what is in our hearts. Everything is exposed to the all-seeing eyes of God. Nothing is hidden from Him. And therefore, friends, even the sin of your heart is laid bare before the Lord. Have you loved Him? Think about the first table of the law. I am the Lord thy God. Thou shalt have no other gods before me. There's only one God, the God of the Bible, the triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and all the nations, all the gods of the nations are idols. Have you loved the Lord your God? Have you worshipped Him alone? Have you committed the sin of idolatry? Idolatry is to make, create gods in your own imagination, idols that are either in the place of the living and the true God or alongside the living and the true God. Well friends, you and I, have created many idols. We have departed from the living God. We have made our own gods to suit ourselves. Instead of humbling ourselves and coming to the living and the true God, we have failed to give Him the glory which is due unto His name. The second commandment tells us to not make any graven image. We are not to worship God any other way than what He has appointed in His Word. Worship is something that must be according to the Word of God. Well, friends, you and I are idolaters. We have failed to worship God as He has appointed in His Word. The third commandment says, Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain. Have you ever taken God's name in vain? Even once, then you are guilty. God who gave you life and breath and all good things, how often have you treated His name with contempt? How often have you treated His name without reverence? You are guilty. What about the fourth commandment? That we are to sanctify the Sabbath. We are to keep it holy. Well, friends, God has given you six days to work, but the seventh day, one day in seven, is to be wholly devoted to the Lord our God for worship, for rest in Him. Friends, what is the Sabbath? Which day is the Sabbath day? Since the resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Sabbath day is the first day of the week, which in the scriptures is called the Lord's day. The first day of the week is the Lord's Day, the Christian Sabbath, and the Lord commands us to gather and worship Him. All people that on earth do dwell sing to the Lord with cheerful voice. All nations are commanded to come and worship the living and the true God, the triune God, and abandon Idols and false gods. You see, friends, you and I have sinned against the Lord. You and I are guilty. And the Bible says, the soul that sins, it shall die. The wages of sin is death. There is none righteous. No, not one. That is our problem, friends. We are sinners. And if God were to give us justice right now, we would all be guilty. And therefore, we would all be justly sent to an eternity in the lake of fire. Well, this is indeed the bad news that we need to understand. You need to see your spiritual bankruptcy, and then you need to run to the provision that God has given. The Lord has provided a redeemer. This holy and just God is also merciful. and He has provided a way for us sinners to be forgiven. He gave His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to save us from our sin and misery. So listen to a few verses in Romans chapter 5, where the Bible says, Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. For when we were yet without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die, yet peradventure. For a good man some would even dare to die. But God commendeth his love toward us in this, that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. And so this is the provision from the Lord. The Lord has provided a Redeemer. And who is this Redeemer? The only Redeemer of God's elect. The only Savior of sinners. Well, friends, the only Redeemer of God's elect is the Lord Jesus Christ, who being the eternal Son of God, became man. And so was and continueth to be God and man in two distinct natures and one person forever. The Lord Jesus Christ is... The Redeemer, God in the flesh. Who is Jesus? My friends, the Lord Jesus is the second person of the Trinity, the only begotten Son of God, co-equal and co-eternal with the Father and the Holy Spirit. The Bible tells us in John chapter 1, in the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And then verse 18 says, No man had seen God at any time. The only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, He hath declared Him. It is the Lord Jesus Christ who is in communion with the Father from all eternity. There are some who would say that Christ was created. Well, friends, that is a heresy. That is a false teaching. There are those called the JWs. There are some right down there. They falsely Blaspheme! They falsely represent the Lord Jesus and blaspheme His name. The JWs, Jehovah's false witnesses, teach that Jesus Christ was created, that He was a creature. No, friends, the Bible says all things were made by Him, and without Him was not anything made that was made. Since creation is the work of the triune God, creation is the work of God the Son. The Lord Jesus Christ made all things. Therefore, He Himself cannot be a creature, but He is the Creator. Very God of very God, begotten, not made. The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The Lord Jesus Christ is God. You must worship Him. If you do not praise the Lord Jesus Christ, you will perish. The Lord Jesus declares, before Abraham was, I am. Before Abraham was, I am. So the Lord Jesus Christ is Jehovah, the only begotten Son of God, the second person of the Trinity. 1 John 5 and verse 7 says, For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost, and these three are one. These three are one. One God in three persons. And dear friends, this glorious Christ, who made all things by Himself and for His glory, for the glory of the blessed Trinity, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost, this glorious Christ became a man in the fullness of the time. The Bible says, God sent forth His Son made of a woman, made under the law to redeem them, which were under the law that we might receive the adoption of sons. The Bible says in John chapter 1, And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory. The glory is of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. The eternal Word, the only begotten, The Son of God became man and came into the world. Why did He come? He came into the world to save sinners. Christ died for the ungodly. He came into the world to die in the place and in the room of us sinners as our substitute. He lived a perfect life of obedience to the law of God. He never sinned in thought, word, or deed. And then he went to the cross and took our punishment upon himself and satisfied divine justice. And so the Bible says in John chapter 3 and verse 16, Did you hear that friends? For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He that believeth on Him is not condemned. But he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And then verse 36 of John 3. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life, and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth upon him. If you do not believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ, you will perish in your sins. But if you repent, if you turn from your wicked ways and turn to the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, for refuge, you will receive pardon. You will receive salvation. Well friends, how did the Lord Jesus save us? The Bible tells us that the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross for our sins. When He hung on the cross, He didn't die for His own sins. He had none. But the Lord Jesus Christ took our punishment upon Himself. He paid the penalty for our sins. He died on the cross as our substitute in our place. The prophet Isaiah speaks about the substitutionary atonement of our Lord Jesus Christ. The prophet Isaiah says in Isaiah chapter 53, but he was wounded for our transgressions. He was bruised for our iniquities. The chastisement of our peace was upon him, and with his stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray. We have turned everyone to his own way, but the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all. You see, friends, The Lord Jesus Christ took our punishment upon Himself and died on the cross for our sins. And then He was buried. But the third day, He rose again from the dead according to the Scriptures. You see, friends, the same Christ who died for our sins, also rose again the third day. The Lord Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. And He is not a dead God, but the risen Savior. Jesus Christ is risen. The Lord Jesus declares, I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Jesus Christ is the risen Savior. This is what makes Christianity unique. There is no risen savior in any religion other than the true religion of grace, the Christian faith. All the gurus of India have died or will die. Muhammad is also dead. You can never compare Muhammad with the Lord Jesus. Buddha is dead. Mahatma Gandhi is dead. But friends, the Lord Jesus Christ risen. The Lord Jesus Christ is the risen Savior. The one who died for our sins also rose again from the dead and therefore He alone is able to save you from your sin and misery. This is why the Bible tells us in Romans chapter 6, Romans 6 and verse 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Did you hear that, friends? This is, in summary form, the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ. For the wages of sin is death. But the gift of God, the free gift, is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. There is something you must do. You must repent and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. You must believe in Christ alone for your salvation. This is the only way for you to receive the person and work of Christ. This is the only way for you to receive the benefits of the redemption that the Lord Jesus Christ has purchased for us by His own blood. You must believe upon the Lord Jesus Christ. And so the call of the gospel is repent. and believe in the gospel. Repent and believe in the gospel. You must cast yourselves at the mercy of the Lord Jesus Christ and you will find refuge. You will find help and salvation. For the Bible says God resists God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble. The only way for you to find grace and mercy is for you to come to the Lord Jesus Christ. is not one way among other ways. He is the only way of salvation. The Lord Jesus declares in John 14 and verse 6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by Me. Did you hear that, friends? The Lord Jesus declares, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh unto the Father but by Me. Neither is there salvation in any other, for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved. Only the Lord Jesus Christ can save you from your sin and misery. And so this morning, you must come to the Lord Jesus Christ. You must come, you must repent, and you must come to the Savior for refuge. The Lord Jesus calls you. Come unto Me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn of Me, for I am meek and lowly of heart, and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light. Only the Lord Jesus Christ, truly God and truly man, can save your soul from eternal perdition and bring you into sweet communion with God. Only through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, you can enjoy God, glorify Him, know Him as God and your God. And so the prophet Isaiah says in Isaiah 55, Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters. And he that hath no money, come ye, buy and eat. Yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price. Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? And your labor for that which satisfies not, hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. Seek ye the Lord, while he may be found. Call ye upon him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts. And let him return unto the Lord, and he will have mercy upon him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. God will abundantly pardon all those who come to Him by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Friends, repent of your sins and cast yourselves at the mercies of the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will find refuge. Come to Christ by faith, for He is the only Redeemer, the only Savior of sinners. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. May God bless His Word to you. Amen.
