Good morning, friends. I am Pastor Calvin Lindstrom with Christian Liberty Academy School System. Welcome to There's No Place Like Home. For the next two weeks, I want to speak about preparing for persecution. This also is a subject that parents must be teaching their children. I find that one of the most challenging verses in Scripture is 2 Timothy 3 and verse 12. It reads, Yes, and all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. This word persecution is used 45 times in the New Testament, not always in this sense. Literally, the word means to put in rapid motion, to pursue or follow or chase after, and here the word means some type of a harassment. It's the same word used by Jesus in the Beatitudes in Matthew 5 and verse 10. Now, is this really true that all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution? The answer is yes. Paul is not saying that every believer will be put to death. Paul is not saying that every believer will suffer imprisonment or that every believer will suffer in the same way, but there will be some aspect of suffering. for all true believers, all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus. Now, what stands out in our own nation is that for many years, there has been seemingly not much suffering at all for being a faithful believer, but there are many examples of suffering still by believers in our nation. Think of all the conflicts in families over the sake of the gospel. We face the mockery of the world, the threats of the world in many ways. And we also think of the numerous cases where Christian bakers, florists, photographers, et cetera, have been harassed for not being willing to celebrate that which goes against God's word. Now, what is coming? This is more difficult to say, except that those who are vocal about Jesus and God's truth will likely face increased opposition and pressure. There are thankfully still millions of Christians in the United States. Things often move slowly, but we can say pressure is building. And colleges, universities in this nation are especially hostile places. And there are also many examples of Christian students being pressured and put into difficult situations. And this will be a great area of testing for our children. as they finish their studies with us at home or in Christian schools as they move on, have we prepared them to stand strong as they continue in college or the workforce? Are we ready for this? We will consider this subject again next week. For Christian Liberty Academy School System, I am Pastor Calvin Lindstrom. We'll see you next Thursday, Lord willing, at 8.30 a.m. Central Time. And also today, Thursday, please join us at 11 a.m. Central Time.
